DKNY My NY

I'm new here. This is my first post. I absolutely love this perfume. It takes me back to sharpening pencils in elementary school. I remember the pencil sharpener was positioned on the marble window sill of my old, non air conditioned school so when I would sharpen my pencils I could see my house directly across the street and zone out staring the window in a daze, daydreaming about what was going on at my house and wishing I was there, and sharpen my pencil down to a stump. When I spray this, I first get a gorgeous blast of fresh pencil shavings-nothing but those freshly shaved pencils for about 7 seconds, then the cool marble windowsill creeps up and settles in. This stuff is a shapeshifter. All day, each hour I catch another different, but equally warm, dry, and comforting. The fruit doesn't shine from my skin. It's completely woodsy on me and I love it. It's not one that my eyes roll back in ecstasy. It's a warm soft cashmere cuddle with leaves blowing round your feet on a dry sunny autumn day. I can wear this year round but it's best in the NorthEastern US fall. When it dries down on me, it's warm calm and inoffensive. Quiet and laid back. Stoned. After I get over the opening joy of pencil sharpening, it settles into a comfort. My cat's fur gets cross contaminated with this from me cuddling her and it smells so perfect on my fluffy white with tabby patches silly little cat. Yes. It's pencil shavings

My boyfriend got me this last summer (2014) for my birthday. Initially I wasn't too impressed as I was secretly wanting Coco Mademoiselle but surprisingly it became one of my all time favorites. At first it goes on very fruity....I thought it reminded me alot of the old raspberry body spray from BBW. But it mellows into a creamy vanilla berry scent and then fades to a creamy patchouli not a sharp dirty hippy patchouli though.... more like a soft, creamy subtle patchouli. I really loved it because my chemistry loves patchouli and so do I :) I went through the bottle and now regretting it because I can't find it anywhere now. It is definitely one of my all time favorites and had the potential to be my signature summer scent. If you love patchouli but don't like smelling like a dirty hippie I recommend this, that is if you can find it.

I had written a review that disappeared. I came back to this one on three separate excursions and it is now my go to end of summer/I am ready for fall scent. Office friendly, fruitchouli, but more. It is definitely balanced and I love patchouli, Midnight Poison is my "go to sleep" fragrance. It is really a step up for DKNY, I could never embrace the apple. This fragrance reminds me of a walk in the City, on one of those end of summer and you can feel the nip of autumn in the air afternoons. Heels clicking on pavement and you just want to light that praline/pumpkin/fall candle, but it is still August. The "nip" is the rasberry and the orris root and ambergris are such a nice foil. So, yep got the largest bottle and there feels like enough substance, that I may make it through it by the end of winter without boredom.

This has been discontinued and the prices are starting to climb... I was able to score a bottle on eBay for a decent price and I’m SO glad I did. Sweet, intoxicating, beast mode, has aged beautifully. A shameless, 2010’s fruitchouli (also a noticeable, creamy vanilla is present) that reminds me of my 20’s (I’ll be 38 this year). Great times in my apartment with my (still) best friend; pre-kids and husbands lol. I know fruitchoulis aren’t for everyone, but this millennial can’t help herself.

I bought my first bottle in 2015 and it was gone super fast (50 ml) And I bought my 100 ml in 2018 Still have about 30 ml left, this is a really good fragance, boring some may say, but lately I've been thinking this might be the key to stop this addiction - sticking to what I like, instead of trying to 'expand' my horizons.. It's not a philosophy I'd normally agree with, but I'm starting to realize that maybe for fragances, makeup and clothes, it makes sense

I wish I would have waited until Christmas to buy it. I paid $80 for the 3.4 bottle and now it's 50% off. I went back for lotion, the roller ball, and the mini size though so pretty happy about that. This one isn't unique but I think it's very office appropriate and unoffensive. It has much more staying power when coupled with the body lotion. The body lotion is terrific. I really enjoy the warm peppery note.

I'm finally finishing my 100ml bottle - 2016 I'm shocked at how good the perfume still smells and how much it projects. This is indeed a fruitchouli - to my nose the raspberry comes across as strawberry I have way to many perfumes now, but this one is a good one, very long lasting. I prefer it during the cold weather Edit 12/18/2024 Finally finished it 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I just purchased this blind at tjmaxx but ohhhh my goodessss, I mean wow so amazing it does remind me of coco mademoiselle but instead of that GRAPEFRUIT I get the RASPBERRY for sure. definitely cousins . longevity it's been 2 hours and I still smell the greatness of this magic hard for perfumes to stay so I'm so happy first dkny

I'm in love. Best blind buy ever. It's raspberry hard candy and vanilla extract with a patchouli that's well blended enough that I don't really notice it as an individual scent. I don't get much jasmine or freesia and I'm not mad about it. It lasted 7 hours of my workday (in an air conditioned office). 10/10, will repurchase.

I went to my chemist near my house and bought different DKNY Perfumes I have necter love and stories and my ny and this one I'm talking about is my ny and I love my ny so much honestly my ny smells so beautiful and it smells so fruity and sweet and I love it so much

I like it. Not test it yet just smelled the bottle and it reminds me of diamonds edp off Armani. No one mentioned this one but it truly is in the line of diamonds. The sweet, spicy and sexy smell is nice but like i said i haven't tried it on my skin yet.

salty from ambergris, raspberry, pepper, patchouli, little floral underlying, musk Ambergris is a MAIN note. This fragrance is salty. like CK Reveal had a baby with a dark patchouli raspberry pepper fragrance

I was very bummed when I saw Rita Ora as the face of that perfume😅but on me it smells like a sweet red gummy bear so I had to have it🤷 I am on my second bottle and still enjoy it very much

I think this is Lovely, I received it as a present and wear it alot it's a nice feminine sweet (but not too sweet) warm delight

This one reminds me a lot of Guerlain La petite robe Couture.

Well this is strange..... I have had a 100ml 97% full bottle knocking about in my perfume collection for the past 100 years! I can't even remember how l got this or when or who from. Its a mystery to me honestly. I tried it oh so many years back and hated it because l could smell the patchouli and l hated that smell so much it always reminded me of hippies that didn't wash, white people with dred locks and tie dyed clothing and festivals with tons of them rolling cigarettes from a tin of tobacco with dirty fingernails. Ewwww! (Oh the images a smell can conjure up). So I've never worn it and it's one of those perfumes that's a nightmare to have on your dressing table with your other perfumes especially if you're a neat freak who likes your perfume bottles clean and sparkling like a department store showcase. The amount of pointless grooves and notches and corners in the lid of this bottle will drive you insane, they gather dirt and dust and you can't get deep into the corners unless you use a toothbrush to scrub them and even after you think you got it all you always miss some, its maddening, what a crap design for a lid. Its pure effort and maintenance for a perfume! Sooo.... fast forward 100years to the present time and I'm walking past my dressing table and l glance at it and it's so old the colour of the liquid has changed and gone a darkish peach colour and l thought let me have a little spray see if I like it now since I'm more than a decade older and don't mind a bit of patchouli in a perfume so much now, so long as its mixed well with other scents so it's not the strongest scent in the mix, and bugger me, it's bloody lovely!!! Wtf is going on here? This perfume is clearly taking the piss out of my life right now and playing tricks on me! It smells like Miss Dior the one with the Metal silver bow. I guess you have to wait for some fragrances to be right for you. I'm going to start wearing it now. I give it a 7.5 /10.

Upon first spray, this immediately reminded me of coco mademoiselle, but sweeter and fruitier, like one of the other reviewers also said. You can immediately smell patchouli among everything else. I could also smell the fresh liveliness of the pink pepper, fresh raspberry and beautiful white musk. It is a very uplifting, energizing scent because of these top notes. As it sat on my wrist and the top notes settled some, I could really smell the orris root mixing with the raspberry among a deeper backdrop of vetiver and patchouli. Although the zestiness was still there. This scent has a lot of earthiness and spiciness, which I LOVE. Lovers of Gucci Guilty and Chanel Chance will love that spiciness. As my body temperature rose throughout the wearing, the scent became warmer with it, and I could really smell the beauty of the vetiver in the drydown, but all the top and middle notes became more blended and subdued, but created a warm, musky smell...in heaven.. I kept getting whiffs of a Coco Mademoisellish scent because of that patchouli + fruit combo. However, I don't like coco mademoiselle all that much because it wears way too strongly on me. This is lighter but still has so much body, and you gotta be a fruitchouli lover to get this. All in all, I love this scent and was sorry I didn't buy the 100ml because this will become my fall staple!

My friend gave me this because she couldn't stand the smell. It gave her a headache she said. First time I tested this on my skin, it wasn't an instant love for me. I have always use the sweet fruity gourmand type of perfume, so this was something new for me. I didn't dislike it but also didn't love it either. But for some reason I kept reaching to this beauty and spray it on me just to test it. I suggest test it on your skin first or buy a small bottle tester of it to see if the smell grow on you or not. And I have to say, it took me a while but finally I can smell comfort in its scents. Its very sweet patchouli smell at first spray with a hint of raspberry and slightly vanilla. Then it just gets warmer and prettier. After 3 hours, the dry down smells like soft musk with hint of vanilla. I agree when someone said its not sophisticated nor sexy. To me its rather casual. The kind of perfume you'd wear after a hot shower before enjoying quiet night with a cup of tea..that's how I describe it.

DKNY MyNY / Donna Karan - 04/23/2015 This is a very safe, quite affordable and pleasant perfume which I recommend either for yourself or to be offered as a gift. I believe it will not disappoint. It is a chic floral which makes it a lovely choice for the spring and summer months, suitable for every occasion. It has a pleasant, clean, fresh, inoffensive neutrality which I favour. I do not detect much of musk or vanilla or patchouli. Instead, I feel happy surrounded by freesia and raspberry notes. I do not consider it sophisticated or sexy as I rather detect a carefree, playful girly attitude which I honestly like. It is not sweet at all which, in my view, separates it from the overly sweet trend of the moment (which is a nice thing.) It has a good lasting power and I could smell it on my scarf on the next day. I would compliment a lady wearing it and I do recommend it. Enjoy the perfume quest. Regards Josephine

I avoid DKNY like the plague... Not because I don't like their fragrances, I've just had too many people overspraying Be Delicious and Red Delicious in public restrooms. So you have that clean toilet smell with some DKNY - because of that, I always associate the Delicious range with toilets. That being said, the Sales Assistant basically INSISTED that I try this. He said it was nothing like the DKNY range. A little scared & weary, I allowed the poor man to spray this on me. I gave a polite 'thank you, may I try some other fragrances?' and walked on. But then it hit me... Beautiful pink pepper & patchouli (I've noticed that these ingredients really love my skin chemistry) and I gave in. I bought a small 30ml because I'd already picked out something else which was rather expensive. But this fragrance is gorgeous. The musk comes out quite a lot later, but it subtle & mixes very well with the other notes.

I sampled the fragrance at Ulta when they were having a half price event on a few of their perfumes. I loved My NY on the paper tester strip and ended up grabbing the middle size as a Christmas present my mom could give me. The paper strip highlighted the berry, vanilla, and patchouli notes of the fragrance. My mom loved the fragrance on paper as well noting that it was a feminine version of what she likes in a men's cologne. So Christmas passed and I finally got around to actually wearing the fragrance. It is still a nice fragrance but on me most of the notes are lost. I initially get a very loud burst of the pink pepper, enough that my eyes were watering in the car, with plenty of patchouli in the middle - dry down. Four hours later and the scent is a very faint peppery vanilla with no discernable sillage.

I like this one. It’s better and more original than the 50 different Delicious flankers anyway. Opens with an almost medicinal raspberry, not sweet, herbal. But dries down into a lovely patchouli vanilla spice scent. Very suitable for early fall, although I don’t think it will hold up well in very cold weather. I got a 3.4 bottle for $14 so not a bad blind buy. If you like fruitchouli done right, this one is a great option! I disagree with the reviews saying it’s syrupy or teenaged. No, it’s not a very sweet or young girl smell nor is it predominantly fruity, all the notes are very well blended. The patch sticks out the most! I’m 30 and I’m happy wearing it! It doesn’t project across the room, but lasts a good 6+ hours on clothing. Scent 7/10 Sillage 5/10 Longevity 8/10

This one almost made me rush to the bathroom to wash it off. I love many of the DKNY fragrances. When I opened the box I was so excited for a new one to try. Initial spray pushed me back. It was so strong and I thought "whoa what is happening here?" I did not like it. I'm so glad I waited it out. I continued on doing chores and kept getting a whif of something really pretty. I lt took me a bit to realize that it was My NY! I then sat down to rest and dozed off for a while. Woke to this beautiful smell of my wrists. I love her! Musk and patchouli with light florals. (I'm a lover of patchouli, it has to be done right). She is strong and I've had it on for at least 5 hours now and she is still lingering. Rate- 8.5/10

I'm quickly falling in love with this. It's a little cheeky, and I love cheeky. It has a fresh, spicy vibe rather than the usual syrupy take on raspberry. As it dries the pink pepper calms down and a warm, sweet patchouli becomes dominant. Yes, it's a fruitchouli, and it's a good one. It would make a great everyday scent for crisp, fall weather. I didn't expect to enjoy this at all so I'm happily surprised. After the Be Delicious/Sweet Delicious line's metallic note, I didn't think DKNY could do a sweet fragrance I'd like. But I suspect I'll find myself picking up a bottle of this on the sly before too long.

This is a nice perfume to wear during the day in the fall. It's perfect for work or a low-key environment where you want to smell noticeably nice but not overwhelming or overpowering. It'll blend in enough that people won't immediately realize it's you. The sillage is also nice and will waft around you evenly for a while in a subtle way. I am using the word "nice" a lot in this review--that's the perfect way to describe this, just: nice. I definitely notice the patchouli and musk more than anything else. I don't like raspberries and was surprised to see that's a major note. I don't notice that at all.

I have to agree this reminds me of a toned down sweeter fruitier version of Angel. Nothing chocolatey here but it is the dirty patchouli. I like patchouli so that's not an issue for me, but if you don't you may want to give it a miss. Unlike a lot of the fruitchoulis out there, this one has a great amount of patchouli that jumps out instantly and remains for the entire dry down, which mellows into a creamy vanillary patchouli. It has fairly good silage and longevity. I'm quite impressed. Ive nothing against the many Delicious flankers out there, but this is a much needed and appreciated departure.

I've been wearing this now for a couple weeks and I completely agree with the reviewer that likened it to sharpening pencils in elementary school. I also get that pencil shavings undertone for the first hour but then it morphs into something so comforting and beautiful. I normally do not like woody because they tend to turn to baby powder on my skin but this particular scent just has a whisper of masculine woodiness with the right amount of sweetness from the vanilla and jasmine to make it so pretty. I've grown quite fond of patchouli too if it's added judiciously which it is in this formula.

I was standing in the perfume isle with my husband at the discount store. I could smell something I instantly loved but not sure where or what box it was coming from. There were also candles the next row down. Finally I found the opened box of this on the bottom shelf. It's really a lovely and very safe friendly fragrance. I sprayed it about 5 hours ago and still faintly smell it on my arm. It's heavy on the musk so avoid if your not a musk fan. Something about this really just made me feel happy. It's a happy scent!

To me, this sort of smells like a "Diet Flowerbomb", but with more fruit. It's a very similar patchouli to Flowerbomb and La Vie Est Belle, but it lacks the overpowering strength (Which, in my opinion is a good thing, since despite liking those scents, I can never wear them without hurting my head!) There's also a little something strange or tangy in this one, that I can't quite pinpoint, perhaps it's the pink pepper. It makes it unique among other fragrances in this class, and gives it a bit of a kick.

This is easily likable, especially if you're not the one particularly into perfumes and don't like to spend too much time thinking what to wear. This one here is a perfect choice for that case - attractive, young, fresh and modern. It's in the same tone as the Be Delicious line - bright and girly. Nothing unusual, nothing original, but it makes you smile. The patchouli is the typical good mood note that always fills my heart with sunshiny happiness. Adorable one!

A vibrant, fresh, slightly sophisticated berry with a gentle chypre quality. There is nothing of the unpleasant "stuffy" effect I get sometimes in raspberries like Hot Couture. It's a bit generic, but uplifting and yummy. Nice to wear in a cool, wet Spring. It seems to have been intended as an autumnal scent, but I think it would depress me in that season. It's chic, but trying a little too hard. My husband goes absolutely wild for it!

The fragrance lives up to its name of My NY. The opening notes are bold and spicy, befitting the fast-paced and energetic urban lifestyle. While it has a brisk scent, it is never overpowering or too heady. I love the dry-down even more, as it becomes sweeter and warmer. It has good lasting power of about three hours or so, though not as long as I'd hoped. Overall, I find this an intriguing fragrance that can be worn day or night.

I really like this scent. I first bought a rollerball at The Cosmetics Company Store and then a lotion and 1.7 ounce perfume set for $29 at Marshall's. It's a nice warm scent for day to night. It's floral, fruity and musky. I do smell the patchouli, but it is not overpowering. I feel like it's a less floral and less projection version of Flowerbomb. It lasted about 5 hours on me. If you see it on sale, I say give it a chance.

TJ Maxx blind buy several months back. Leaving my collection because I just never wore it. The pencil-shavings opening is not a joke. It is very woody, a bit medicinal and sharp - off-putting. The drydown is a lovely raspberry-vanilla-patchouli with a kiss of salt from the ambergris. Not a bad fragrance...but I can sort of see why it made it to rack stores and was discontinued. I have better fruitchoulis in my collection.

I just received this in the mail from Sephora. I adore this scent! It's definitely more chypre-like than I had imagined, and a little different than most DKNY scents, but it's great! I don't have anything else like it in my collection and I can for sure pick up on the raspberry in this but it's not an overly fruity scent. It has just the right amount of fruitiness to balance out the patchouli/vanilla drydown. I love it!

At first spray, I'd swear it's apple but it's not listed in the notes. Must be a tricky raspberry. The woody-musky notes develop a half hour later and bring it a dense quality. It's a little edgy and young. Not overly sweet. Very enjoyable fragrance which is just a step off the beaten path. Can be found for around $20 so very good at that price point. Great longevity, the scent is still clearly detectable hours later.

The pink pepper is STRONG in this! Personally, I don't usually like very peppery fragrances but this is super pretty and layers well with a wide variety of other perfumes. On my skin, the dry-down is super raspberry-y. I like it, I received it as a gift and I don't think I'd repurchase but I will definitely finish the bottle and layer with other perfumes in my collection.

One of the strongest perfumes in my collection. It's a gifted scent and not something I'd buy but it has grown on me. Again, I used to wear it few years back and it brings back memories. So, I rarely use it when I'm in mood for something strong. It's so strong that if I'm not in the mood for it, it would give me a headache. So have a love hate relationship with this one.

This is a Big fragrance. Once sprayed, it's all over the place. Strongly sweet. There's lots of patchouli, pink pepper and raspberry in it. I think it represests big cities like NY very well. I find it nice in some way, but I wouldn't know how to wear it without suffocating myself and others. I could cause headaches.

it's certainly delicious sweet fragrance specially good long lasting fragrance smell out different from the other dkny fragrances dosent have the stong too much kinde of smell you know what i meen like the green äple or the rest ! this one i like good job

I get a snootful of vanilla and honestly not much else. There's a trace of sweetness almost brown sugar-y. It's okay for the price. Very long lasting. I put it on eight hours ago and still smell vanilla.

This is not bad. It is a safe and soft fruity fragrance. Not very original, but nice. Projects well and is feminine. I recommend it to young, romantic women who like berries and powder.

This reminds me of a cross between CK Obsession and Coco EDT. I knew it smelled like the nineties. Who wouldn't love some nineties these days :-) Golden era of living.

I like it, but it reminds me of a cake. Really! It's like I smelled a pie. Is it all raspberry's fault? Try it to find out.

nice one, nothing original but not bad, softly sweet, and, again, as usual with DK, short longevity

I like it, the perfect balance of sweet and floral. The silage is just the right amount!

This was one of my beginning fragrances whenever I worked at a Smoothie King near Marshall's. When I first got this, my nose only identified the top notes and I fell in love with the sweet burst of rasberry, pink pepper, and the patchouli peeking out when sprayed. However, I soon started to smell this bitterness a few minutes after I sprayed the perfume. It took me weeks to finally figure out exactly what that bitter, biting smell was. Galbanum. Now that my nose is developing, I have learned that either Galbanum comes off very stinky and bitter to my nose, or my skin chemistry does NOT like it. This perfume would be lovely without it, but the Galbanum is overpowering the lovely jasmine, freesia, and orris root middle notes. On first spray this perfume smells quite nice and it seems very safe. The raspberry and pink pepper work well together. But once those top notes wear off, all I get is stinky, rotting, bitter flowers. It's a no for me. If you like Galbanum and it works well with your skin chemistry, this might be for you! Don't be afraid to try things! Unfortunately, for me personally, this perfume doesn't want to be friends

Not getting the pencil shavings that everyone else seems to be getting. This one stays pretty linear on me, and is a fruity floral with enough musk to make it interesting. IMO it’s a pretty standard designer frag. An easy reach when I want something a little more girly and feminine but not something I plan to repurchase once my small bottle runs out.

Sweet spicy amber with light vanilla and a clean vibe! This is very nice. I don’t wear ambers and yet I’m thinking of wearing this again. The florals are nice too. If you like amber, you may really enjoy this!

This smells so familiar. What does it remind me of, coach the fragrance? Maybe a little bit, but it's more akin to something else. I'll post when I figure it out!
