DKNY Stories

I had read some reviews here that DKNY Stories resembled Womanity, my fav perfume, so I purchased a sample. I was hopeful as it started out reminiscent of Womanity with salty notes and a berry-like guava instead of fig. Thereafter, it seemed to become more a creamy raspberry-vanilla scent. Not a bad fragrance, but not what I was looking for. Still, something about it nagged at me. Perhaps it is like Womanity Pour Elles, which I don't have. Since I love DKNY's My NY and how it performs, I thought I'd go ahead and spring for a bottle of Stories before it gets discontinued. Today wearing Stories sprayed from the full bottle, I initially had a similar experience to when I wore the sample. However, when it became a light berry skin scent a few hours after application, I sprayed again, essentially layering the fresh scent over the fading notes. There it is! Another salty burst and then the spicy notes I associate with Womanity's fig accords came out. I'm so glad I bought this now, because while I have backups of Womanity and a few of the flankers, I never did get Pour Elles. This will be my cheaper version of Pour Elles, and I'm fine with that! Thanks, DKNY. I'll get a lot of use out of this.

This smells so good... Simple, but still unique. It’s got a milky creaminess that everyone is describing-really fluffy and lovely like you’re on a cloud. The iris also really gives it a lovely powderyness, which makes it suitable for ages even older than the age group that’s targeted. The guava is also a unique note in here, because it gives it the sweetness whereas other perfumes today get sweetness from chocolate, marshmallow or coffee notes. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t like sweet scents you probably won’t like this, but it’s a different kind of sweetness than the kind that’s common today. There’s also tea notes in here that I can detect, which really blend beautifully with the iris, giving this perfume a nice sharp and fresh vibe. Ugh, it’s really wonderful. You have to try it. I’m surprised there aren’t more people who love it than just like it on the website. I also do see why they advertised it as a scent for young women who love the city because it does have that sweetness which is playful and young, and that unique guava note for those who want to stand out in a big city.

Man, have I had a time with this little 50ml bottle. 3 years ago when I got it, I sprayed it and wasn't sure if I liked it. To me, smelled tomato-y because I was being judgmental and didn't give it a chance. Sometimes frags need to be given a chance. I didn't understand the beauty of pink pepper at that time. And eventually I grew to ADORE that note and grew to LOVE IT. This perfume smells like SHINING gorgeous strong pink pepper. Spicy. With milk mousse, guava & sandalwood interplay. That's what I detect. It is super unique... smells cozy, intriguing & fun. If you're not a fan of peppery scents, you will hate it. I love this! Need to mention that I wouldn't classify this as a gourmand (what some are saying). It's not at all an edible scent. The forward notes are peppery, fruity, woody & a dash of lactonic. Not a gourmand frag IMO. However, it's beautiful... long lasting & super versatile. You can wear this any season, anytime, anywhere. Worth the try! 💓 Gorg. Thanks DKNY for this lovely creation.

To me this is a modern, sweet, powdery, well-performing scent. It has a personality of its own and truly stands out as far as longevity and sillage are concerned. Plus, as a typical DNKY, it evolves on the skin as time goes by - so it is difficult to judge it straight from the first snif. If any comparison to past scents needs to be made, I surely wouldn't make it with Mugler's "Womanity" - which has always been irritating to my nose and stomach. The first thought that came to my mind after letting it perform on my skin was "this is a better, sweeter and more modern version of Armani's discontinued Onde Extase". Maybe it's the pink pepper and jasmine combination in both of them. Yes, this is what I would say, "Stories" is somewhere between Armani's "Onde Extase" and Vera Wang's "Princess". Anyhow, this is certainly a buy I don't regret and that I have several times been complimented for; thus, a buy that I will certainly make again and highly possily a new signature scent! It is still a great scent. I remember when this perfume was first launched, I used to go to the perfumes stores and sniff sniff to make up my mind. I remember loving it, very sweet, spicy, not too strong but lingers a bit. I'd never guess it had guava(I love the smell and taste of guava) i can't really smell guava in here. To me it reminds me a lot of JPG Scandal in the beginning at least - must be just my 👃🏾 since they're super different. I get the pink pepper, the cardamom adding the creaminess, the jasmine, the vanilla - especially in the dry down, pretty much vanilla - there's something else but my untrained 👃🏾 can't quite make it... It's a love for me - warm, sexy, sweet and spicy I must try the EdT to see if I can detect guava Perfumes to me have no age, either you like it or you don't
