DKNY Stories

I had read some reviews here that DKNY Stories resembled Womanity, my fav perfume, so I purchased a sample. I was hopeful as it started out reminiscent of Womanity with salty notes and a berry-like guava instead of fig. Thereafter, it seemed to become more a creamy raspberry-vanilla scent. Not a bad fragrance, but not what I was looking for. Still, something about it nagged at me. Perhaps it is like Womanity Pour Elles, which I don't have. Since I love DKNY's My NY and how it performs, I thought I'd go ahead and spring for a bottle of Stories before it gets discontinued. Today wearing Stories sprayed from the full bottle, I initially had a similar experience to when I wore the sample. However, when it became a light berry skin scent a few hours after application, I sprayed again, essentially layering the fresh scent over the fading notes. There it is! Another salty burst and then the spicy notes I associate with Womanity's fig accords came out. I'm so glad I bought this now, because while I have backups of Womanity and a few of the flankers, I never did get Pour Elles. This will be my cheaper version of Pour Elles, and I'm fine with that! Thanks, DKNY. I'll get a lot of use out of this.

This smells so good... Simple, but still unique. It’s got a milky creaminess that everyone is describing-really fluffy and lovely like you’re on a cloud. The iris also really gives it a lovely powderyness, which makes it suitable for ages even older than the age group that’s targeted. The guava is also a unique note in here, because it gives it the sweetness whereas other perfumes today get sweetness from chocolate, marshmallow or coffee notes. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t like sweet scents you probably won’t like this, but it’s a different kind of sweetness than the kind that’s common today. There’s also tea notes in here that I can detect, which really blend beautifully with the iris, giving this perfume a nice sharp and fresh vibe. Ugh, it’s really wonderful. You have to try it. I’m surprised there aren’t more people who love it than just like it on the website. I also do see why they advertised it as a scent for young women who love the city because it does have that sweetness which is playful and young, and that unique guava note for those who want to stand out in a big city.

Man, have I had a time with this little 50ml bottle. 3 years ago when I got it, I sprayed it and wasn't sure if I liked it. To me, smelled tomato-y because I was being judgmental and didn't give it a chance. Sometimes frags need to be given a chance. I didn't understand the beauty of pink pepper at that time. And eventually I grew to ADORE that note and grew to LOVE IT. This perfume smells like SHINING gorgeous strong pink pepper. Spicy. With milk mousse, guava & sandalwood interplay. That's what I detect. It is super unique... smells cozy, intriguing & fun. If you're not a fan of peppery scents, you will hate it. I love this! Need to mention that I wouldn't classify this as a gourmand (what some are saying). It's not at all an edible scent. The forward notes are peppery, fruity, woody & a dash of lactonic. Not a gourmand frag IMO. However, it's beautiful... long lasting & super versatile. You can wear this any season, anytime, anywhere. Worth the try! 💓 Gorg. Thanks DKNY for this lovely creation.

To me this is a modern, sweet, powdery, well-performing scent. It has a personality of its own and truly stands out as far as longevity and sillage are concerned. Plus, as a typical DNKY, it evolves on the skin as time goes by - so it is difficult to judge it straight from the first snif. If any comparison to past scents needs to be made, I surely wouldn't make it with Mugler's "Womanity" - which has always been irritating to my nose and stomach. The first thought that came to my mind after letting it perform on my skin was "this is a better, sweeter and more modern version of Armani's discontinued Onde Extase". Maybe it's the pink pepper and jasmine combination in both of them. Yes, this is what I would say, "Stories" is somewhere between Armani's "Onde Extase" and Vera Wang's "Princess". Anyhow, this is certainly a buy I don't regret and that I have several times been complimented for; thus, a buy that I will certainly make again and highly possily a new signature scent! Bravo Donna again!

It is still a great scent. I remember when this perfume was first launched, I used to go to the perfumes stores and sniff sniff to make up my mind. I remember loving it, very sweet, spicy, not too strong but lingers a bit. I'd never guess it had guava(I love the smell and taste of guava) i can't really smell guava in here. To me it reminds me a lot of JPG Scandal in the beginning at least - must be just my 👃🏾 since they're super different. I get the pink pepper, the cardamom adding the creaminess, the jasmine, the vanilla - especially in the dry down, pretty much vanilla - there's something else but my untrained 👃🏾 can't quite make it... It's a love for me - warm, sexy, sweet and spicy I must try the EdT to see if I can detect guava Perfumes to me have no age, either you like it or you don't

Womanly. Milky sweet with a touch of salt, creamy and powdery, an interesting scent, different but familiar enough to be agreeable and wearable. I haven't tried Mugler Womanity or its flankers, the wet caviar and figs perfumes. Mugler fragrances tend to be too harsh for me, so I think I will stick with DKNY Stories in the same vibe. DKNY Stories longevity is good, the projection start strong then get average after 1-2 hour and closer to the skin for the rest of the day after 6-8 hours. I have a 4 ml mini and seriously think about buying it, but I have sooo many vanilla perfumes on my to buy list (Guerlain Mon Guerlain, Cartier Must De Cartier Gold, YSL Black Opium Intense, Guerlain Shalimar Souffle De Parfum...), I can't buy them all at once, I want to try them more before making a choice.

I can see where most reviewers are going when they say this smells like a dupe for Womanity - it is similar. in a fruity way but this one is creamy - I like Womanity but I prefer DKNY Stories. I like my sharp sweet fruit served with cream. This is not teen sweet, lasts above average, skin to medium silage.- smells like an ambrosia salad (made only with guava-lol) or a fruit salad with coco lopez on top. Smells good to me. For the money, I find it an awesome fragrance. If the cost was more like a high end fragrance - then I could see the - its not original, or it doesn't last all day BUT for the price, it is very nice.

Pinky fragrance:) This is so delicious! Yummy. Someone said it smells like sweet fruity salad... and it's true! In my opinion-Salad full of exotic sour fruits, with a thin layer of whipping cream. Personally the drydown reminds me so much of “Signorina ribelle “ perfume. Anyway for me this is the happy fragrance! My mood is totally uplifted every time I smell it! Oh my goodness its so good...(I smell myself right now lol) EDIT - it’s long lasting too. I put it on pajamas at 23:00 in the evening(11PM), now it's the second day in the morning (11AM) and I still smell it.

2nd review, same as the first~ Yep still love this creamy fruit sweetness - I have had it on for 4 hours and it is still very potent, generally lasts all day. This fruity beauty may be geared for the youngen- but darn it, I am young at heart and as much as I love my amber tobacco Friday night complex fragrances, sometimes something refreshingly sweet smells amazing! If you do not like fruity fragrances, don't bother searching for this fragrance. This is Womanity on whippits.

Ohhh this so pretty. I smell a juicy sugared guava and the soothing white tea note in the background.... there is also a creaminess in the fragrance due to the milk mousse note. I have a sample, but I’m thinking now I may need to get a bottle. I’ll likely wait until the summer to make that purchase since this perfume screams daytime spring/summer to me. I imagine a gorgeous sundress, a gentle breeze, smiles and laughter, and radiating sunshine when I smell this perfume.

It's not a dupe of womanity and womanity eau pour Elles, but it does have a similar base, which I've never smelled in any other perfume, so yes, it's very similar. And I really love it. Womanity and womanity pour elles are nuclear and almost dangerous, this is way easier which is sometimes a good thing. It's beachy, salty and sweet. I really love salt and sweet combo. I'm very happy with this purchase. Also I Love NYC ... 😎

I really like this. Sweet, fresh and floral with some spicy oriental woodiness underneath. I find it very modern and wearable. Re: the similarity to Womanity, I've never tried it myself but now I'm intrigued to, because lot of people seem to find Womanity repulsive yet I can't imagine DKNY Stories provoking such a strong negative reaction. Well, it hasn't yet for me. :)

La pimienta rosa y la guava se sienten mucho en la salida, es muy frutal dulce chispeante desde el principio, con el pasar de las horas en mi piel se siente un poco más suave y atalcado, como un lipstick, guava y vainilla cremosa, lo dulce nunca se va pero cuando mi hermana lo usa en el secado final sí le percibo un toque acaramelado como dulce de leche.

I just went into my chemist near my house and bought different DKNY perfumes I bought nectar love and my NY and stories and this one I'm talking about is stories and I sprayed stories on me and honestly I really love it and it smells so beautiful it smells so sweet and fruity and so girly I love it

Very pleasant , but womanity all the way. It’s like a sweeter warmer womanity , more fluffy ,some vanilla added , some fluff added and you got Stories ! I like both , womanity is a bit harder to wear as it is more metallic and cooler. This is quite easy to wear , like a girly version of womanity.

It took me a while to figure out where I recognized that sweet whipped cream note with sour fruits from, Sunset Fantasy! I am surprised that nobody else noticed it because to my nose they could almost be sisters. And yeah, this is a love! It only gets better and better after it settles.

Newly discovered. I blind bought it for the notes especially milk mousse and vanilla. It's creamy berries and not in a sickly way. The pepper note makes it a bit more grown up and gives substance. This is a great fragrance for cooler months especially crisp, cold winter mornings.

I love DKNY stories. It's a youthful perfume that brings to mind a young, brave woman who has a head full of dreams and who is independently making her way towards them. Because of this flair, I like to wear the perfume from time to time.

on my skin it is an exact copy of womanity, I am very happy with this purchase, I just received it. It doesn't seem extremely sweet to me and it has the same metallic mugler note. new fan here

This to me is like Womanity from Mugler with a few differences, even the packaging is kinda inspired. I love them both, but prefer Womanity, as this one doesnt last longer than 4 hours on me.

Without reading the notes, this smells like pink bubble gum to me. It’s sweet, happy and childish in a way, too young for me but I just cannot dislike it...

Amazing! 💖 Delicate, cozy, quiet, and gourmet. I would like it not to disappear, but such is the property of "sweets" - they will certainly end...🤷🏻♀️

DKNY Stories is a pleasant feminine day scent, softly sweet with some interesting elements. It plays it safe, and has crowdpleaser potential. A comforting gourmand best worn during cold weather, Stories is familiar and has commercial appeal, very much inspired by current fragrance trends. The peppery, fruity opening of Stories is vibrant yet sneeze-inducing. The fruity notes are briefly intense. Fresh and sweet, they are given just the right amount of spiciness from the cardamom and pepper notes. It is decidedly lactonic, developing into a creamy berry scent (as Sienna_Elise below aptly describes it), managing to attain just the right amount of sweetness. Soft, non-indolic jasmine emerges after a little while, and vanilla comes to the fore as the scent develops further. There is an intriguing salty undertone (most likely from the amber base note), which keeps Stories interesting for a while. The creaminess remains and the vanilla develops. Thanks to the vanilla note, Stories becomes a generic gourmand, but still manages to be nicer than other such fragrances - the vanilla is not headache-inducing or overly synthetic. However, it stops being interesting at this stage, and is simply a soft, sweet, linear vanilla scent until it fades. Sillage and longevity are both moderate. Stories is best worn in the daytime during autumn/winter, as it has a warm, comforting feel. However, it is nothing special and is not full-bottle worthy for me. 2.5/5.

I like it! At first I'm like 'What in the good Lord's name IS that fruit?!', because it isn't obviously anything distinct, but it smells unmistakably fruity (but in a good, albeit synthetic way). Oh...because it's guava and it's not a commonly recognizable note. It all makes sense now! It settles into a slightly artificial cream, and I don't hate it. It's not as deliciously creamy as Cloud's whipped cream note in my opinion, but it's more settled and grown up. Not bad! It has some powdery-ness to soften it even further, and smells clean. There's definitely vanilla in there...it's a tad basic after some time. More ambroxan than abergris if it were up to me to determine. I'm probably going to stash my sample away and use it during the transition back into fall (late summer/mid September). It has a fading out type of vibe...hard to explain, and smells like it would be one of those in-between scents. The guava is STRONG, but dies off...oddly poetic and fitting for the end of summer 🤣 I like it, but I have so many things that I love that would keep me from seeking this out. *update* This smells excellent with B&BW's Carried Away. Both of them are about a 7/10, but combined they equal an 8.5. The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts! I think it's the milk/cream notes in common, they play nice together.

I actually blind bought this one when it first came out because it had a guava note just like my beloved Midnight Rain by La Prairie and I was hoping they would smell thesame... to me they do not. Midnight Rain is slightly more elegant than Stories in my opinion. Anyway on me Stories opens very sugary, fruity and powdery. After a while it turns into creamy, salty, vanilla scented sandlewood. I'm not sure where the salt is coming from but it is very prominent. Maybe ambergris? The guava makes it fresh while pepper makes it dynamic, hence modern and urban I guess ... It has powder and it has florals. The vanilla/sandlewood combo translates into a very cosy and warm fragrance. Sillage is pretty good but longevity is amazing. I really like this one because it's smells very modern and different from everything else I have but I don't think I could wear it a lot because it is very persistent on my skin. To me it's smells a bit niche, maybe even slightly luxurious compared to everything else released by DKNY.

This was a signature of mine a few years ago back when it came out before I knew anything about fragrances, I just picked it up because the lady recommended it and it smelled sweet and girly. Now, 6 years later I dug in the back of my closet and found it wanting to wear it again. It smells so different to me now. I think my tastes have changed a lot, I no longer gravitate towards fruity fragrances. I'm not really a fan of the opening anymore, peppery notes make my nose itch now and I don't like the fruitiness. Once the dry down comes, it is VERY lactonic, I love this! The lactonic piece of this fragrance is definitely my favorite part. It becomes a creamy milky fatty vanilla sandalwood. This is uncomplex and unchallenging, it's simple and pretty and straightforward feminine vanilla fruity fragrance, it is exactly what it is no more and no less. The price is really good for such a long lasting lactonic sandalwood, i'm glad I still have it in my collection.

I got a gift set of this perfume as a wedding gift in 2018. I've just finished the travel spray. I have fond memories of wearing this over the years. It's a sparkling fruity perfumey scent, not a fresh fruity scent. It stands out to me in uniqueness because of the tart guava note and the creamy milky drydown. Unfortunately, my husband thinks it smells like air freshener, and I get what he's saying, because the opening is a little bit harsh and chemically smelling, especially if you overspray. I think it's the guava. I still enjoy it, but if he continues to not like it on me, I give what's left in my full size bottle to a family member. I don't want to, though, because I personally like the scent and have good memories with it! So we'll see :D

Interesting and pleasant opening, reminding me of Womanity by Mugler, but much simpler and more wearable on a daily basis. It reminds me of sour candy quite a bit, as well as a hint of salt. This opening disappears after half an hour or so, leaving a soft sweet vanilla scent. Compared to the opening it is quite unremarkable and very inoffensive, so I find myself reapplying about every 4 hours or so, just to experience the top notes again. Good for daytime, after the opening fades it is not particularly interesting. Best for fall, as it is not quite fruity enough for summer and not quite warm enough for winter. Wish it could also have a bit more of a projection too, as it sits close to the skin.

I just tested this on my skin at the shopping mall. It's very strong and sharp at the beginning, but when it has dried down for 15-20 minutes, it smells really, really good! To me, it's actually a bit dark. Seductive and edgy. Sweet, fruity, slightly powdery, a bit spicy and it also has some freshness to it. The base notes gives it a warm, sensual anchor. It smells better when I can smell it in the air around me than what it does when I put my nose up against it. I can definitely detect the scent on myself, so I guess others can too. Good sillage and longevity. It's absolutely not a dupe for it, but it does remind me of La Prairie Midnight Rain! It's a huge like for me!

"Stories" is like a pink, bubbly cocktail made of bubble gum syrup, (guava) liqueur, many spices, a few drops of tea, and rich creamy milky mousse on top. It lasts for centuries on my skin, over 24 hours. This one is very intense and sweet, I do not know if everyone can stand it, but it has a smell, which you certainly never forget and you also want to smell again. I detect something powdery & sandalwood-y, especially when it dries down. Then it also smells for a while like cinnamon with vanilla.. like a cinnamon roll.. I understand why they call it "oriental". Also, although it seems basic, it can be considered a head turner. Star signs: Aries, Cancer, Aquarius

I have an ambivalent relationship to Stories. I have purchased it 3 times and each time I end up giving it away a quarter used to a friend. I love it but usually just for a hot minute and then I'm like " Bye Felicia!" The notes are beautiful. It's thick and syrupy yet also fruity and fluffy. It's both quite " churchy" and " sexy time" appropriate. I love it but only in a scandalous affair sorta way then I always go back to something like Flower Bomb...my stable balding accountant husband that tells stupid dad jokes ( thats the vibe Flower Bomb gives me)😋

Really liking that one! I tried it a couple weeks ago and really thought it smelled nice..so I bought it yesterday, and what a pretty scent..it has a fresh fruity undertone , then goes warm, floral, all in whole it is very feminine, urban, nice mix of fresh and floral, .i don't necessarily detect all the notes...mostly at first the guava, with its juicy vibe, them some creamy florals..not sure I get any pepper or cardammon...the base is soft and i detect the vanilla...I think it will become my summer staple for sure !

Blind bought a travel size spray of this and the way the notes blend together surprised me. The opening is very peppery and spicy to my nose, with underlying fruit and a little sweetness. They don't smell all the much alike, but this gives me the same vibe as when I wear Valentino Donna Born in Roma. Something about the combination of pink pepper, red fruit, and vanilla and maybe the tea scent? I like it now even in warm weather, and I'm looking forward to see how it performs as the months get colder.

First spray punches you in the nose and screams I’M WEARING PERFUME NOW. Maybe it’s the spice, I don’t know, but it’s very harsh and old lady-ish. I’m so glad I stuck with it because it mellows to an interesting vanilla- very pleasant and comforting after the nose punch. I rather like her a lot when this feisty girl calms down. *UPDATE: after several uses, I like this a lot. Old lady? I must’ve been crazy. This is good stuff. I even get the tea now.

This smells like sweet whipped cream to my nose. It's sweeter than I expected, but still doesn't seem like a gourmand. Not to my usual taste, but I quite like it, and what impressed me most is the longevity. I'm sick of all the new releases that last five minutes on my skin. This went on and on for hours, I even smelled it the next morning.

Pink pepper on a slightly powdery, very sweet and a tad lactonic sandalwood base with no air. Nice enough, but nothing like Womanity with its lovely fig freshness and playfullness. Stories turns more into fruity caramel when the peppery notes reside. Will choke if oversprayed. I will finish my small bottle happily, but will not repurchase.

Very fresh fragrance initially. Get hit with lots of pink pepper but it settles quite quickly into a more quiet floral with a touch of vanilla and sandlewood. Easy to wear and not overpowering. Great for everyday use. It sits in the middle range of fragrances for me.

This is a modern. I spritzed about 15 mins ago and definitely get pink peppercorns, guava and milky mousse. Finally I recognize black cardamom. I want to say I like it but I am thinking I am falling in love. Let's see how it dries down

Reminds med as written in other reviews of a softer edition of womanity by Mugler. A more quiet but also a bit different little sister. Smooth, soft and powdery. Moderate longevity and silage. Really feminine scent on my skin.

On my skin, it is a fruity powdery perfume. A bit sweet, a bit sharp at the beginning, and clean without being soapy. Nice fragrance. Not my cup of tea, but it is good.

It smells like a fizzy popping candy with a touch of lemon sorbet. Sour and sweet at the same time. Nothing special, but not bad either. Reminds me of the 90’s.

Too much strange berries in the opening. A better, more mellowed drydown, but still a meh to me.

Very nice, perfect for winter.

The opening of this fragrance smells just like Sweetart candies with a tart guava juiciness. After an hour or so it transitions into a sweet, milky vanilla with the guava remaining, but far in the background. I really like the opening. Sweetarts were one of my favourite candies when I was a kid, so the nostalgia factor is real. The drydown is pretty generic, but pleasant enough. I saw that it has been compared to Womanity by Mugler and at first that didn't make much sense to me. I went to smell my bottle of Womanity and found the similarity. Both have a very tart bright fruity opening that is a little similar. They both go into very different directions after that. The performance is just OK. The opening has pretty good projection for about 1-2 hours. Once the fragrance reaches the lactonic vanilla stage, it becomes quite soft, harldly more than a skin scent and only last another hour or two before I can't smell it at all. This is an all season fragrance. The candy/fruity opening is very suited to warm weather while the creamy vanilla is something I tend to like in cooler weather. In this case that creaminess is soft enough that it works fine in the heat. Stories is a very girlie fragrance that can lean a little juvenile because of the candy-like opening. The bottle is pretty unremarkable except for the fact that it's aesthetic really doesn't fit the fragrance. The bottle is modelled after big city skyscrapers, but the fragrance doesn't have that feel at all. I would have expected somethin chic and naybe a little sexy, but Stories is playful and cutesy. I own a small bottle. I like it well enough to keep itand wear it, but not enough to repurchase it. It's just not that interesting.

I tried this because I LOVE Womanity, so I wanted to see if the hype was real or not. I sprayed each one of them on each wrist to see if the comparison was real, but alas, not on my skin. Stories is sweet and weighty where Womanity is metallic and breezy. The first one is clearly an autumn fragrance, while the second is a hot-weather perfume. Stories opens up with a sugary guava scent that quickly mellows thanks to the milky note. This phase is very girly and lasts around 5' on my skin. However, it is promptly overcome by my dreaded sweet vanilla, which fuses with the ambergris and the tea, giving the fragrance a more mature edge. I'd say this stage is the candied sister of Reveal by CK. The sillage and duration are good. I sprayed this 6h ago, and I still get whiffs of it, and if I smell my wrist, I get it loud and clear. All in all, it's an OK perfume, not my cup of tea, though. 5/10

I have this in marker format, and maybe it smells different when sprayed, but I don’t get much if any mousse or guava (which is what I was looking for when I got this). On me the most prominent notes are pepper, tea, sandalwood, and ambergris in the dry down. I found it too similar to CK Reveal and therefore too masculine-leaning so didn’t give it much attention for a few years. But today I’m getting a bit more fruitiness and I can feel a bit more femininity in it, though it still has a slightly cologne-like edge. I like it better but I still want more mousse and guava.

This will smell Womanity-esque in warmer temperature and high humidity: fruity, a tad aquatic, and decidedly sweet. With colder temp and lower humidity—in my case an air-conditioned room—you'll get a pleasant, if flat, vanilla. Nothing more, nothing less. I had to stop obsessing over discontinued fragrance because as prior experience had it, sometimes a fragrance simply flopped because it kinda sucked.

Complete perfume novice. Trying to find a perfume without the screech and itch factor. This is not it for me, but I can see the appeal. It's typical DKNY fruity, however can smell all of the ingredients even with a completely untrained nose. Who would wear this: Spring summer, young women/ girl. Sporty feminine. Out for an evening at the fair with her boyfriend. Warm night.

Guava and pink pepper, these are the two predominant notes on my skin. On my clothes, I only feel a fruit salad scent, a creamy ambrosia salad. Not a memorable scent in my opinion, I am not a pink pepper fan, but it’s a good daylight/office wear. I just wish the cardamom note would come through as it’s one of my favorite ones.
