DKNY Women Fall Limited Edition

I got this fragrance a few years ago and only now tested it. I love it! It is like a sibling of Euphoria Calvin Klein. I do not understand why this EDT is energizing, rather spicy unisex for evenings. To my nose it's sexy.

The packaging of this fragrance gives you no clue as to what it is going to smell like. The contrast between the two is actually pretty jarring. This was a blind buy for me...truly a blind buy. I didn't even look up the notes. It was only $20, so not a big risk. I actually had a WTF moment after I sprayed it on my hand and looked at the bottle. I was expecting sparkling red fruits from the packaging. Not the dense, syrupy patchouli bomb I got. After I got over my initial surprise, I started to enjoy what I was smelling...but it was summer, so I put it away for a while. I am now wearing it on a crisp fall day...a far more appropriate season to wear this. I found it far too heavy and overwhelming in warmer weather. This fragrance has the warmth and spiciness I love in a fall fragrance. The opening is a rich, syrupy patchouli. It almost smells like some sort of dark fruit should be listed, instead it is a rose so jammy, it's almost gourmand. There is an underlying greeness that tames some of the sweetness. I see the top accord listed is woody, but that has not been my experience. The patchouli stays green and syrupy throughout the wear and it overpowers any sandalwood that tries to be present. Deep into the drydown the syrupiness morphs into a soft sweet powderiness. This is a feminine scent that has a bit of unisex appeal. There is something about the dark sweetness that could be very sexy on a man. For a man or woman this is a sexy scent that speaks more nighttime than daytime to me. The performance is solid. This is an EDT that performs like an EDP. It lasted 8+ hours on my skin and projected well for the whole wear. It is pretty strong, reaching beyond arms length for the first couple hours then settling to a more moderate projection for the rest of the wear. It lasts on clothes until they are washed. There is some similarity to Calvin Klein Euphoria as it has the same dark, dense syrupy vibe, but Euphoria has a freshness and woodiness this one does not. I also notice some similarity to the 2019 Mugler Angel EDT. They have a very similar syrupy patchouli, though everything else about the 2 scents is quite different.

I was able to test this one before buying it. The patchouli and especially the musk were so strong and overbearing I put it down and went on with shopping and checking out. After about 15 minutes though, this creamy, warm sweetness developed, along with a smooth sandalwood, and I couldn't stop sniffing it. I went back in the store and bought it. Vanilla is not listed as a note but it has that kind of scent. Musk is still there but more balanced and the florals don't stand out too much. This is a gem that you may pass on if you don't give it the time it needs to settle. I have another DKNY Women Limited Edition, same bottle shape which by the way is not the most stable because it's so tall. That one is pleasant but not really unique. In this version you get something really special and unusual. It doesn't have the best longevity so you'll need to reapply and it wears fairly close to the skin.

Hm. I didn't know what to expect from this line ...now I do. So there's that. This would never have polarizing opinions.- very mainstream safe, you may not love but you would not despise.
