Liquid Cashmere Black

Its true you need to love patch to love this but its not too much. It is balanced well with the cherry and the praline. Ive got to admit my heart sank when I saw cherry and praline at the top of the list of notes detected. I was also alarmed at folk likening it to Guerlain Little Black Dress which is frankly awful. I braced myself for a sickly sweet punch on the opening! Thank the Lord that no such thing occured. I have always been a big fan of Donna Karan all the way back to the 80s. I thought surely this classy lady would never ok a sickly sweet monstrosity. So what is it like I hear you impatiently think to yourself. Its a balance between the natural cherry, praline (read more nutty than chocolate) and patch. Of course there is sweetness but its low key. It is more dark and sexy than anything else. Im really pleased to get lots of sandalwood and just a little rose. The notes blend really well together. Liquid Cashmere Black is the perfect name for it. It surrounds you in an airy soft alluring fragrance thats made for seduction. Very feminine. Moderate sillage and longevity on me.

I have never owned a Donna Karan fragrance before, but when I came across this online I was intrigued by the notes. I am SO glad I went ahead and bought it, because it's really gorgeous. This is what I wish Lancome's 'La Vie Est Belle' had been like. This is like it's more mature and alluring older sister. It has the Praline and the Patchouli, but the fruity cherry is really well done here - the blend is seamless and elegant. It's not too strong or overly sweet or 'in your face'. It's more elegant, simplistic and graceful. It's definitely sexy, but not so much that you couldn't wear it during the daytime too. I am a big fan of Prada Candy, because for me it's not too strong, but still noticeable enough. This is a different fragrance than Candy, but it has the same quality of being just sweet enough, while maintaining a subtle and sexy quality that is just irresistible! Also - the bottle is simply amazing - one of the most unique I own :)

Super sweet gourmand perfumes are my favorites, and this popped up on my radar. I actually got out of my small town and sniffed it at Ulta, but it really did smell just like La Petite Robe Noir EDP... and I wondered if I even needed it. It was softer/drier, nutty-er, and had a little something extra... and the test on the paper strip lasted for a week. Well, I bought a bottle and I'm glad I did. I think I like this even more than LPRN. It has a softer feel but just as much sillage/lasting power. And there is something extra that makes it easier to wear. LPRN can be loud and screechy, this is more delicate but not inferior. This is better blended. I absolutely love this. I don't get any patchouli, just a soft dry, nutty cherry. I may get a tiny bit of spice.

A very nice floral/cherry blend, with a hint of the sandalwoood (the patchouli is too light to register for me), and it's not especially sweet. Unlike some fragrances, especially niche, it doesn't get irritating over time. Nor is there any synthetic or chemical element (though my sensitivity has been low lately). And for guys who like a bit of rose and jasmine, this may be worth sampling. Overall, I would not expect such a scent to be any better than this, but it sure could have been a whole lot worse! UPDATE: After a couple hours or so, it dries out and the wood is more obvious. I'm also getting a bit of patchouli. Not especially complex (which is fine by me), but certainly pleasant.

This is available at Macy's right now (as of yesterday), along with the white version. I'll try the white in a few days, but I'm definitely enjoying the black. It is not a sweet, young cherry fragrance. The black cherry is evident in this, but it's actually sophisticated and more mature than the fruitchoulis that are the current style. Dark cherry and woods is how I would describe this one. It's not a teeny-bopper gourmand, but it has a slight gourmand edge to it. Sillage is not strong, but I catch gorgeous whiffs of this constantly. Sexy, mature, and beautiful.. Also, different.. Worth at least a smell!! LOVE IT!!

Cherry chocolates , It's fresh sweet /fruity /red and chocolate. I love it. I like it the best just sprayed on one spot of my body , like my hand or arm or wrist. It can get too sweet to wear at the neck or chest and you may grow tiered of it. But as a spots sniffer ,,,,wowzwers!!! It works for me and it's definitely a gourmand lovers dream , young girls love it. Men do also. Already was asked several times what it was and how yummy it smells. I do agree it reminds me of petite rope as well ! I got it at my local shoppers drug mart ,( Canada ) they already have it !

Its so goooooood . Cherry cherry cherry. Definitely smells a LOT like la petite robe noire. Lprn is my fav scent of all time and this one is like right there too. There's just slight differences in quality like sillage and longevity and for some reason it's harder to decipher individual notes in this one. Also this one is slightly sweeter and more synthetic of a cherry. Lprn cherry is more tart and natural. Overall I love this fragrance very much. Its too bad she's discontinued. Cherry is the best perfume note. Lasts 3-4 hours

I recently purchased this fragrance for myself because I enjoy the dark nature of its scent. A dark patchouli chocolate rose with slight cherry notes. It wears extremely well as a base layer for even darker incense fragrances.... or by itself. As a man...I love the way it smells on my skin. I really enjoy this version of patchouli. It is not floral... It’s somewhat oriental.... Somewhat gourmand.. Smooth luxurious black linen with dark moonlit rubies shrouded in a dense foggy veil of cold forest air The Verdict: Excellent

I put this on before going to see my favorite band, and YUM! I think it will forever remind me of that concert. Loved them both! Found this to sit close to skin and lasted 6 hours. Kind of reminded me of Senuous Nude by Estee Lauder. Not too many of the same notes listed, but for some reason it came to my mind. Has the "my skin but better" feel. I really love this rollerball and have a feeling it will achieve full bottle status, in my collection, someday. Happy smelling! :)

Thank goodness I don't get the sweet, flowery, fruity gourmand others mention, since these are all things I dislike. This is a warm, rich, somewhat woody with a hint of spice, sexy, beautiful scent that is definitely not a typical gourmand on me. I tested and bought this in the store. I'm so glad I tried it, because had I based my decision to buy solely on reviews here, I would have never tried this glorious juice. I love it!

Just got a roller ball from this and I must say, that definitely could be a Tom ford. At first I tought it shared some similarities with noir pour femme because of the hint of smokyness but as it dries down it gets pretty standard "fruitchulli" scent. It's definitely sexy and my favorite among those recent gourmands recent we have in the market right now. Silage and lasting power are good, perfect for a night out and about.

Got this as a dupe for Armani-mania 1999-2000 the first mania he made and it was discontinued. It is reasonably priced, smells very much like mania and brings back all the memories! My husband who has never smelled mania on me, said i smell like a woman and asked me why am i wearing such sexy perfume and if i'm up to something hahahaha For me it's a gem <3

Dark, sultry, and sensual. Sweet praline and slightly fruity from the sour cherry. But it's not really a sweet and fruity scent. It's a sexy scent. It's the moody but irresistible sister of the original Liquid Cashmere, the night time counterpart. This is perfect for an evening out. Particularly good for date night. It makes you delicious :)

Yummy! My goodness this is amazing. I wasn’t sure if I’d love it or not with cherry being such a dominant note but honestly it’s complex and deep even if it is sweet. It’s not candy sweet on me. It’s lovely. Someone said similar vibe as Velvet Orchid and I agree. Not same as VO but same vein. It’s a new love for me for sure!

Mysteriously sweet. Alluring! I get why this has so much hate. I too can't stand the cherry cough syrup opening but after 5-6 minutes it dries down beautifully on my skin. It's so classy, warm and sexy. The sweetness here is done really well. Mature and smooth. Very well blended. Love it! Lasts about 5-6hrs

I tried this at Kohl's today on a strip. It smells so good, very oriental, i can detect a lot of amber in base, to my surprise it's not in the notes. I don't smell any sandalwood. This is a softer version of amber mystique by Estee lauder. Just amazing and perfect for the upcoming fall!

I love this scent, day or night really, it's sexy and sophisticated. I had to mature a bit in life to appreciate it. ♡ office friendly. Will make you feel rich and luxurious. Wish it had a bit more projection!

This is really beautiful. I saw it as soon as I walked into Nordstrom's and sprayed on a strip and despite all the dyptique, Malones, and other fantsy-schmantzy stuff, this is the one I fell in love with. It is a tart fruit with a soft edge. SO nice for cooler weather. I get almost every note blended together in a perfectly balanced bouquet. The cherry is the dominant, and the patch is not overwhelming (thank goodness). I have to give it a few minutes to start to get the praline, but it's there, with the florals and sandalwood balancing it. This is super beautiful. I'll be wearing this sample quite a bit (they made me one at the store) and deciding if I'll go back for a bottle or wait for the inevitable Macy's/Marshall's sale that happens with this line? EDIT: Another wear strikes me with the similarities between this and Le Petit Robe Noir. Now I'm torn. More chocolate in this. It's not a dupe, but certainly seems to be taken from that scent.

You cannot discuss this fragrance without discussing the two fragrances it so evidently embodies; This is a TRUE fusion of 2 classic scents. The velvety sweetness of Lolita Lempicka meets the buzzy richness of Hypnotic poison EDP. A strong HP EDP base, but beautifully accented by the whimsical characteristics of LL. What an incredibly interesting and well blended combo, you really must try to fully understand. Its a shame it doesn’t last very long. Liquid Cashmere white is one of my all time favorite perfumes and honestly I’d be hard pressed to wear this over that, but regardless LC black really is amazing and stands out on its own in the LC collection. If this is on your list to try, get on it! Prices seem to get higher every few months, as is the case with most of the LC line. 🤓👍🏼

This is a lovely deep scent perfect for fall and winter. As others have said, it doesn’t project quite as much as I would prefer. I consider it a cozy daytime scent for that reason although I think most would prefer this in the evening. I wish I got more of the sour cherry. And I get something a bit smokey, like the praline is a bit overdone, almost like burnt sugar. I do think that adds some interest to the fragrance. My skin always pulls sandalwood forward so I don’t get much sweetness or florals. I mostly pick up the sandalwood and patchouli with very slight florals in the background. But I do like it. I don’t think my chemistry does it justice. I will try it on clothes rather than skin and see if I can pick up other notes better.

this kinda reminds me of tom ford velvet orchid. this is sweeter and the cherry is noticeable but i find them pretty similar. to me velvet orchid has a wonderful drydown that is smooth and just makes me want to keep smelling myself while this is a lot sweeter. and the cherry is noticeable. i think on me they are just too similar for me to buy this when i own velvet orchid, but if i did not own it or was looking for something sweeter then this would be it. i think a nice winter perfume. could be worn during the day if worn lightly. i think this is perfect for mid 20s to 30s. my husbands opinion: he thought it was actually velvet orchid. he likes it. i think most men will like the sweet cherry note. its sexy.

Very interesting fragrance. It is almost identical to the La petite robe noir edp. It lacks that medicinal note that LPRN has which I actually love. But if that's a turn off for you but otherwise you like LPRN then definitely try this. It is fairly spicy in the dry down due to the sandalwood which what gives it a flare. Longevity and projection are very good on me. I wont be buying it as I already have and adore LPRN, but I would have gotten this otherwise. Very very sultry and well balanced, elegant fragrance.

Personally, I think this perfume is great as it doesn't exactly dominate in one thing. You get a little sweet, fruity, and a tad woodsy something. Nicely blended but I've owned cheaper beauties that deliver the same feeling. The "black cherry" may be the sweetness, but it doesn't make its presence known. I'll enjoy this while it lasts, but I won't repurchase as I know a few celebrity scents that can satisfy the same desire for a fraction of the cost.

The patchouli is very present on this perfume. I love how good the cherry blends with the patchouli and then a dash of praline for creaminest.. Just nice! On me, this is like a reminder of another scent, like Marc Jacob's Decadence but with a twist. Its also long lasting and has moderate sillage.

Meh, it's nice. Nothing particularly unique. I don't get the cherry everyone seems to be speaking of. Just some nondescript sweetness, flowers and patchouli. that's about it. Pretty basic.

Reminds me of Clinique Aromatics Elixir for some reason...bit I like it!

Oof. I’m terrible at reviews, and you will see why... I am smelling this on my skin, and it’s spicy, I smell ginger, Dr. Pepper?... old fashioned homemade root beer? A root beer float, but musky, floral... That’s as close as I got to a real note that exists in this fragrance... and none of what I described might sound good, or how you’d want to smell, but this stuff smells good. It’s spicy, but a little creamy. I think I smell the dark, fresh cherries with the pits. You know when you eat them, sitting on a little beach next to a lake and the juice runs down your arm and you lick it off, and you get a salty skin, yummy smelling sunscreen, tart cherry juice combination taste? That’s what this reminds me of. But spicy. Haha. If you want to ignore all that, it’s sexy, but a safe blind buy, and worth trying if it’s still available.

Just got this from Marshall's today... I sprayed it onto my bed sheets, a strong patchouli came first (which I like), but then it quickly died away as praline came, and all that was left was the mix of sweet rose and praline... I didn't get any cherry note as most of the comments say. I usually like patchouli-rose combo (like Clinique's Aromatics in White) but in this one, the rose just smells sweet and synthetic. Overall it's just a meh fragrance. EDIT: after 15-20 minutes I can smell the sandalwood, but it's a sweet sandalwood (because of the rose) UPDATE in 2021: I wore this before bedtime and when I woke up (after 8 hours), all that was left was indeed a sweet praline with patchouli. Overall it's still too sweet for me...

Depends on my body chemistry, it sometimes dries down to a rose scent (with much shorter longevity), but most of the times it dries down to the sweet praline with some patchouli and rose mixed in. I don't find the rose note as synthetic on my body as I smelled on my bedsheets when I sprayed on them two years ago. Overall it's more decent than I thought.

This is a gorgeous, darker sexy cherry scent with a bit of praline. A little spicy, a little creamy, and while I normally can't stand patchouli or rose, they are minimal enough in here and blended nicely to make it enjoyable.

This is rather generic, in my opinion . The bottle is lovely , but it is very sweet and smells like a berry flavored drink. There is no projection here at all, and it does not smell like a sophisticated fragrance. I guess I am just burned out on sweet scents .I donated a full bottle to the rescue mission here after feeling guilty for wasting the money on it. The bottle looks sophisticated, but after an hour the cherry cough drop vibe made me kick myself once again ( What was I thinking ? ) I bought a bottle of Fire and Ice by Revlon a few days ago , paid much less , and it smells more complex, sophisticated and rich . It also gets big compliments , though it was dirt cheap at Wal Mart . This Donna Karan fragrance is not half as good a fragrance as the Revlon Fire and Ice. I would love to see a return of Black Cashmere though!

Think DKNY have trained their sales assistants well. After looking for a spiced up floriental that could be a summer replacment for my fall/ winter signature, she hard sold me every DKNY in the collection until I was sniffed out and my olfactory capacities were in meltdown. I ended up paying for over-priced kiddy cherry cough syrup which is more gourmand Bake Off than hot Arabian nights, more sickly dessert than desert scirrocco winds. Passed it onto my sister...she hated it too. Moral: don't let your visa card get lost in a haze of testers. Sniff. Spray.Leave. sniff again and then decide.

Yesterday I found a 3.4 ounce bottle at the Maxx. Sigh. It's going back this weekend. Sure, it's NOTHING like the original, but did it have to be so weak, so fruity, so fake, and so amateur? My birthday is Sunday so I was treating myself. Luckily, I also found a nice big bottle of the lovely unisex-to-me CK In2U, so it wasn't a total loss. I fear there will never be another black pepper bomb like Black Cashmere and I'm disappointed that the Donna Karan team would even use a rearrangement of that name to market this iced-down cherry cola of a scent.

How i wish I had saved my $16 at TJMaxx, it’s that mediocre. Cough syrup cherry, generic sweet notes that last for an hour and just disappear from skin and fabric. When will I ever learn? (Likely never is the answer:) )

Tried it out and was disappointed. No cherries/chocolate/gourmand scent on me whatsoever. I only get jasmine mixed with rose and sandalwood. Nothing more, nothing less. Overly synthetic and cheap smelling.

Despite my fellow ladies' positive reviews, I'm afraid I did not have a positive experience with this. I had a sample and tried it just now. It opens with a VERY bold SOUR cherry that made me scrunch up my nose - so that note is spot on. I was very put off by the sourness...it smelled like cough syrup to me. Luckily, the sour cherry faded pretty quickly to reveal floral (rose) + something creamy (probably the combo of praline and sandalwood). Normally I would like this combination, but the floral here is a rose...and I have an aversion to certain rose fragrances (sneezing, headache) - this was one of them that didn't agree with me. It left a very strong rose note upon dry down. I couldn't wash this off fast enough - it took 3 tries and there is still a trace of the rose left. Sorry everyone but this one didn't work for me. Glad others love it though! p.s. I can detect no similarity between this and the original Cashmere Mist.

I bought it at Macy's. Nothing beats Donna Karan's debut fragrance Donna Karan and I also love her Black Cashmere. Black Cashmere Liquid is a gourmand version of the smoky aromatic incense scent that is Black Cashmere. I like both ends of the fragrance spectrum. This is very sweet and delicious enough as a gourmand but it's not too candied and it has a definite maturity and sophistication provided of course by the patchouli note. The patchouli is bringing this whole thing together and supporting everything in a balance like a male ballet dancer holding up a pretty female ballerina. The cherry note is way at the top and the scent opens up with that delicious cherry. It's not 100 percent like what I'm about to describe but it sometimes reminds me of Cherry Coke and or any cherry cheesecake I've ever had. It's sweet girly and delicious. That cherry note wafts into the air before descending into floral note of soft rose and white jasmine. These flowers are tamed however and I would not call this a floral fragrance. It falls into the category of gourmand-patchouli or praline patchouli. The praline adds yet another gourmand touch. Delicious. The green aromatic patchouli scent is released as the fragrance prepares to dry down. I really do get a fair amount of patchouli which I like and yet the cherry and praline is still there keeping the scent from smelling odorous. It's always very much a gourmand like a dessert. The last phase of the fragrance is sandalwood. This is really very nice. It smells elegant and sweet and it has a flexibility as both a day time perfume and evening cologne. The price is very affordable and yet it smells more expensive. Absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended.

Liquid Cashmere Black is either: • a less charming version La Petite Robe Noir, or • La Vie Est Belle mixed with cherry cough syrup. That said, it's okay. Liquid Cashmere Black is cherry, sweet, and full of nutty praline. It's also very heavy handed with the patchouli. Liquid Cashmere Black is a power hitter. I sprayed two sprays in the morning, got dressed, ate breakfast, drove 15 minutes to the office and went to work. Nine hours later I came back to my car and opened my car door and it was like a bottle of Liquid Cashmere Black had broken in the glove box. It was that potent. I don't love this one, but I'm not really a fan of praline or cherry. If you love those notes, it might work for you.

I am a big fan of Donna Karan, I have the white version, and was gifted this one, thank you Germany!! Love it, it has that warm enveloping aura, no cherry I detect, which is fine by me as I do not like cherry in perfumes!! It is sweet but in a grown up way, it is musky, and warms up nicely on the skin!! I see it more as a fall/ winter scent, cozy, sensuous, womanly, rich. It isn't gourmand per se, I see it more as a floral woodsy musk with some sweetness...it is to my nose a subtle version of Armani code satin, which I found a bit thick..longevity isn't the best, it is after a while a skin scent, although the base has a certain intensity...like a soft scarf on a cold day!!

This is the one and only time I purchased a fragrance based on an Sales Assistant's strong recommendation. I bought this last year and the sales assistant swore men loved it and was buying it like crazy for their ladies. Never again! I wasn't a fan of it when I tested it, but you know there were only 2 left...so I bought it. Big mistake! Something about this makes me nauseated. I should have sent it back, but sometimes our nose changes. Mine has not changed! It came with a two sided roller ball of black and white. Still haven't tried the white because the liquid black smelled so bad. Glad most of you have had a better experience with this.

Very similar to Killer Queen by Katy Perry, but a more sophisticated version with sandalwood and heavier patchouli. The cherry is more of a jammy black cherry also while Killer Queen is a more synthetic candy cherry. This is a great fragrance for cold days, it's definitely luxurious and warm like a cashmere sweater. The drydown is where this fragrance really shines...less cherry, more praline--the sweetness dials down and turns nutty and addictive. I have a rollerball of this that I decanted into an atomizer because you really get more of a full, rich experience when this is sprayed vs being dabbed/rolled on.

I love patchouli, and on me, patch is the star of Liquid Cashmere Black from beginning to end. This reminds me of the newest version of Coco Chanel. The patch is present from start to finish, and rather than being a gourmand, it reads soapy and clean. I love this! Moderate projection and longevity. My fav by Donna Karan. Update: The first review was done when the weather was cold. This cologne acts much differently on me in the heat. Tons of fruit balanced by the florals. In the heat, this stage is long and the patch is much less noticeable. Wow. Quite a difference, and still very nice. (A two-fer!)

I got a sample of this and I loved it. I got the full bottle and I like it less. It's VERY sweet. I mean, really sweet. Like others I get a lot of cherry, but not like in Le Baiser du Dragon, which on me is a nice grown-up cherry, and which is nicely toned down by spices. This is more like candy and because of that I don't like it as much. I would not dump it, but I don't see myself reaching for this one very often. My advice? ONE quick spritz is all you need. More will overwhelm you.

There is so much hate for this fragrance and it is one of my favorite cherry scents. Cherry, patchouli, praline, and sandalwood. Beautifully blended and very strong and long lasting.. I am wearing this on a warm autumn day and really enjoying the sweet cherry cloud surrounding me. Give this one a chance if you're a cherry fan. It has a certain warmth and bite to it like a good cherry liqueur.

Just tried this perfume and so glad I made it (albeit late) to the party. I wanted a rich sexy scent to celebrate a new identity and significant birthday year. This deep patchouli blend is sophisticated, sexy and wears like a dream on my skin. I wanted a perfume that enhances my own personal scent- this does that. Love the dark mysterious aura it creates. A beautiful gem from DK.

Donna Karan Liquid Cashmere Black and Tom Ford Lost Cherry have these notes in common: Sour Cherry, Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, and Patchouli. Are they perfect dupes? Nope. This one came out before Lost Cherry. This also lasts SIGNIFICANTLY longer, and costs less. A winner for me.

This is a great dupe of La Petite Robe Noire, but does not last as long. Sweet cherry, perfect for cooler weather. Just like Cashmere Mist, the cap on the bottle is a bit of a struggle, lol.

I bought this as a blind buy at Marshalls for $15. It is one of my worst buy so far, immediately threw it on the garbage. It smells disgusting on me.
