Goldmund

After many years of nursing my little sample from the early 2000’s I just got a new bottle and I’m happy to report that the formula hasn’t changed. How refreshing to see a company continue to manufacture their products without modifying anything, not even the bottle which looks exactly like the one on this page. I even exchanged a few emails with Doris and she’s a sweetheart, she obviously takes pride in her brand. The fragrance opens sweet and floral with a resinous kick, almost like a spicy fruity rose with some balsams in the background. Then Goldmund starts shifting its notes to give them all a chance to shine: the rose takes the spotlight first, then the musk, then the resins and balsam, then it goes back and the order of appearance gets scrambled but it never feels forced, kinda like a beautiful organic and organized mess but it totally works. For years I lamented not having bought a bottle from Luckyscent before they stopped carrying it, but I’m so glad I was able to order directly from Germany, amazing customer service to boot.

All I can say is LOVE this one! This may be one of my favorite perfumes of all time. I had a sample and wow.wow.wow. I still pick up that tiny glass vial just to bring back my beautiful Goldmund to me. I have never smelled anything like it. Makes me feel strong, confident. Gorgeous.

Goldmund is very cosy, sweet and powdery. It has sugar, spice and all things nice, but this scent is not very complex and you can tell is more of an aromatherapy pick-me-up than a multi layered scent. It definitely has the "air freshener" vibe, but it's far from being unpleasant. I wouldn't buy it, but for those looking for something sweet and relaxing to wear at home, you won't go wrong here, unless you have a strong aversion to tonka bean, which is the strongest note.

At first it smells sharp and then on dry down floral and a bit powdery. It almost smells like air freshener. 'I don't like the smell on paper or on my skin.
