À cœur perdu. L.B.

I bought L.B as a blind buy, feeling quite confident it would be an easy love. It has so many of my favorite notes: iris, orange blossom, aldehydes, cashmeran, AND it's composed by the wonderful Fanny Bal?!? So, great news - this tale of a blind buy has a very happy ending! I ADORE L.B.!! The orange blossom lifts the often melancholic iris up to a cheerful mood, and the aldehydes and citrus further lighten and brighten this scent. L.B. is such a charming, whimsical, beautifully composed scent. It projects the perfect amount, never loud, yet thankfully more than just a skin scent. I rarely get complimented on my scents but the first day I wore this a barista said "You smell AMAZING!" So this baby projects! (when ambroxan works, it works!) But the best part??? Usually my beloved orange blossom scents don't last beyond a few hours, whereas L.B. lasted the entire work day!!! I sprayed it on at 6:30 a.m. and by 4p.m. - I was still getting wafts! Soo impressed!! I'm loving everything D'Orsay does and find their perfumes are so elegant and tastefully done. It's fast becoming one of my favorite houses. If you're an orange blossom or iris lover, L.B. is a MUST try!!

I had a sample of this and after using it up in just a few days knew I needed a full bottle. The aldehyde notes give this a sparking quality that, combined with the citrus, makes for a refreshing and uplifting opening. It creates a beautiful scent bubble that stays in that sparkling, citrusy-floral phase for about 4+ hours on me and then a beautiful combination of iris and musk settles on the skin. I’m wearing this in the office today and it’s a good choice as it won’t overwhelm those around you, particularly once the opening settles, but is a scent the wearer can enjoy for several hours. I’ve become a big fan of this house and its understated but sophisticated fragrances that are worth taking the time to explore and enjoy. I find myself reaching for them regularly.

The scent is born saying, “hey... I’m an innocent baby neroli” It’s soooo innocent, clean, and pleasant that it managed to steal my heart. This neroli and orange blossom pairing comes with a gentle mossy character, especially noticeable in the opening. Still, that mossiness never makes it feel dated or retro. The composition reads decidedly modern. Lightly powdery texture and a very clean nature, with a dewy, watery, transparent structure as well. Despite being this gentle, the diffusion is excellent. I am revising samples from d'Orsay which is one of my fav houses, and I am realising that I glossed this gem over. it shouldn't be my scent profile at all, I am not into scents of cleanness. I don't like aldehydes normally, I can appreciate neroli and orange blossom but they are not my favs, the dry mossy base is normally meh for me. BUT this is the clean scent done soooo well! opening is gorgeous with a hint of lemon and iris combo, neroli and aldehydes are delicate, the base is soft and comforting. Subtlety is the middle name of d'Orsay, but they also always manage to have a very unique touch or twist or combo to add uniqueness

This perfume is sensual and unbelievably beautiful. It smells like clean skin with a lovely, soft iris note, delicious neroli and orange blossom and a burst of lemon, that isn't sharp at all. The dry down is cozy and lightly sweet. I just want to douse my skin in this intoxicating potion, cuddle up in a faux fur blanket in front of a fireplace with a hot cup of tea. I can't get enough - it smells amazing on my skin! ☺️
