Le Dandy Pour Homme

The best of the scent profile, and in that profile I include Michael for Men by Michael Kors and John Varvatos by John Varvatos. Le Dandy opens brilliantly, like a very rich, sweet, moist, rum-soaked spiced plum cake. Its listed as a Woody Spicy, but it's as much a Gourmand as anything else. And this is the advantage Le Dandy has over the Kors and Varvatos. It manifests its gourmand facets more and better than it's two offspring. And I say offspring only in the sense that the D'Orsay came first (1999), and the other two almost no doubt used Le Dandy as direct inspiration. The 2001 Michael for Men is very similar in profile but has much better performance than either Le Dandy or Varvatos, which both suffer with disappointing performance. Actually I would recommend the possibility of layering Le Dandy with the longer-lasting, further-projecting original Michael for Men by Michael Kors. The two are very close in scent profile, and layering would offer the best of both - the performance of the Kors with the brilliant, sweet, rich, rum-soaked deliciousness of Le Dandy. Both Kors and Varvatos have a leather/suede accord to differentiate from Le Dandy. There is a Pour Femme version of this called La Dandy Pour Femme that was released later. Interestingly, both are descendants of a 1925 OG that supposedly was an aldehydic floral that "was originally meant for men" but appealed to women more. I found the original's note breakdown and it has notable differences to either the later Homme or Femme editions. Mainly the floral notes. But it also had "spices" and "fruity" notes, and I would say that the two modern variants are probably faithful to the vintage OG in general terms. So all in all Le Dandy by D'Orsay has an absolutely dandy scent profile - one of my favorite (just look at the note and accords lists!) - but sadly suffers in performance.

This is a review for the EdP version of Le Dandy (gold cap). The notes are as follows: Top notes: rhum-wisky, peach, pineapple, plum. Heart Notes: ginger, nutmeg, cardamon, cinnamon, clove. Base notes: sandalwood, benzoin, patchouli, tonka bean, Peru balsam, tobacco. From the first spritz of this perfume I am met with an incredibly smooth, sweet, powdery amalgamation of notes that are hard to discern. The fruit mixed with the rum/whiskey makes sense in retrospect, as it has a slightly boozy, yet utterly juicy, first impression. This is not a bad thing. The spices which come later do not seem to burden or overbear in any way, allowing for a very transient and seamless transition towards the base. At this point, the sweets have been tempered, but there is still a lingering aroma of these powdery confections. I'm not sure if at any point you can really tell when the heart notes have vanished and the base notes emerge. This is due in part to the, in my opinion, beautiful overall composition of the fragrance which takes a number of very distinct notes and blends them as one unique smell in its own. Yes, you get the vibe of tobacco and alcohol, which are meant to stick out as they provide the foundation for the class and suave Le Dandy is known for, but what I'm ultimately left with is a light & humble, yet alluring, aura of a real gentleman's perfume. All in all, I really do love Le Dandy and value it for what it is, but I am often at a loss for times in which this would be fitting. Certainly not a casual, every day, wear, but occasionally it's nice to go out in street clothes smelling like you just spent the morning at a cigar bar shooting the shit. Otherwise, this is more or less confined to formal wear, and in a scenario not necessarily meant to attract anyone, but rather establish your own class and confidence as a man.

Where do I begin? [brings out boxing gloves] I’ll just get straight to it. This is better than many Frapin’s and certainly better than Jubilation. The fruity note, especially, mops the floor with Jubilation which I found to be weak and lacking in fullness and character. The booze in this fragrance is also more, boozy than Frapin too. I really like the tobacco note too—potent without going overboard. The formulation is perfectly balanced. This is just so much win! Longevity is very good, projection is perfect, smells expensive and classy. Bottle is lovely too. NOTE: I dunno know what D’Orsay is up to with their formulations but I have an EDT with the silver cap, which, if I understand correctly, is a generation behind the current product packaging with the gold cap.

Epic Journey Into the Bottled Yonder, 135 ------------------------------------------------------- Purchased August 2019 Definitely one of those high roller scents. Quite forgotten and I found this one through Sven Raphael Schneider yeeaars ago from the Gentleman's Gazette. It's booze, peach, leather and tobacco but blended to be luxurious as hell and earthy. I found Bogart Club 75 to be like this, so I skipped that. Truly a powerhouse (but off-puttingly sweet) that nobody recognises. I've worn this a lot. You could hang around the casino with this and Boucheron. Batch: 006072 (unable to decode, please PM me). My estimate would make it 2016-2017 manufacture, though being a very slow selling product it could be a nearly NOS 2016.

I'm new to this brand but the heritage and the history are very cool. What a gem this turned out to be. This is Kilian Paris before there was Kilian Paris. My initial impressions: take the best parts of their (Kilian) boozy fragrances and dried fruits and mix it with a spicy elegant suede and tobacco and you get an approximation of what Le Dandy is all about. But it also has a vintage vibe. I love It. Sits close to skin but otherwise great boozy leather tobacco with lots of peaches. Classy Sinatra casino vibes for a night out on the town. Scent 9/10 Performance 5/10

FINALLY - the best scent that smells like whiskey!!! For the first 1-2 hours smells just like diluted Whisky with ice. It evolves and up close it starts drying down to a spicy slightly woody scent with subtle fruits however at a whiff or trail it still give the impression of Scotch. Though sometimes the fruit comes across like light florals. Reasonable silage too! Awesome buy and a must for anyone looking left of field for a Whiskey scent!!!

bello questo accordo gourmand non mangereccio a base di rum, tabacco, cannella, frutta secca e pesca. non sarà, per oggi, il massimo dell'originalità, ma è un profumo confortevole e gradevole, senza essere esplosivo. se si considera che la versione originale risale agli anni 20 ci si accorge di quanto sia stato "avanti" ai suoi tempi!

Amazing! Does it share similarities to DK? Not really. I don’t get it, spraying each frag on each hand, I guess the only thing people might say is the fruity smell? Its two different scents. But nonetheless this stuff is amazing and a gem.

Very buzzy fruity fragrance. I love it. You get plum and some other fruity notes. It is sweet but not sickley sweet. It is also spicey and woody in the drydown. Great for fall and winter

One of the best perfumes I've tried lately. The perfume was a surprise and I didn't know what I was testing. Now, when I know the whole background of perfume, I can tell you right now that it will surprise you. The old perfumes have their own special atmosphere but this one is exception. It has modern features though it is made in 1925.. Opening is alchocolic and powerful. I immediately said that it has whiskey in it and I was right (the alchocol is not a combination of plants). Since there was so much alcohol, I did not know what to expect. After that alchocolic opening it evolves into a sweet composition that is pleasant. The composition is rounded and refined and it reminds me on a dark blue color. Tobacco in this fragrance is not smoky and dry as in the other perfumes. At the base must be sandalwood which supports the sweetness. Opening is similar to Lubin Idole but perfume as a whole is reminiscent of Le Male. The perfume is suitable for the night and it's made for the whole year. His durability is as good as the projection. All in all, a very good perfume and it's on the "wish list". This fragrance was made for a dandy in previous century. Today is for a modern metrosexuals :P

Swoon! This one is so gorgeous and absolutely perfect for winter evenings! Le Dandy is a rich, heavy blend of whiskey, fine cigars and a spicy, creamy dessert. Two spritzes of this potent juice is enough to last all day and infuse the air with a heady cloud of delicious aroma. Very high-quality and long-lasting scent that is a must-try for fans of boozy-fragrances. It is not so sweet that the manliest man can't wear it, and it's not so macho that ladies can't enjoy it, too.

So, I do like the fragrance but I don't love it. I have to agree with one of the reviewers about the opening notes. I'm not a huge fan of plum as a fragrance note. It's not too overpowering but you can tell that's what it is. However, the mid and base a very good and fairly on the mature side. Overall a solid: 7/10

I have the vintage of this. In the top, it is a soapy deep yellow floral. As it dries down, there is oakmoss present in a big way but the sweetness and musk fight with it. Oddly, these notes are not listed. Where are the florals other than ylang? Where is the musk? Where is the oakmoss in the note breakdown???

Maybe it's not something very special , but damn good with high versatility . Better than a lot of famous and expensive fragrances in market.

I really wanted to love Le Dandy...sadly, I do not. Initially I get a strong boozy accord, although I would not classify it as being whisky or even rum. To me, it smells like sour mash; very much so! If you've ever been around a distillery you'll understand the scent I'm talking about. It smells as though I am standing outside a distillery and getting occasional whiffs of sour mash from down the road. That's the best way I can describe it. If there are plum, pineapple or peach notes present...well, perhaps they are giving this fragrance a slight bit of sweetness, but to my nose Le Dandy is all about sour mash and cheap wine...so have a drink one me, as the AC/DC song goes. LD changes about 30-minute in and becomes a very soft, somewhat woody/earthy, faintly sweet scent that still has that sour mash thing happening...just tucked a little deeper into the background. Unfortunately, this fragrance continues down this path until it eventually fades-away in about 6-7 hours on my skin. Yep, my skin smells like sour mash and it is not appealing to me or, from what I can gather, others because I received not one compliment the times I tested it. For a comparison, I received almost a dozen the previous day I was in the office wearing Tobacco Vanille/Eau des Baux, and I receive about half that many while wearing some of my other fragrances. Projection is okay and LD lasts a little longer than average on my skin. All-in-all, I enjoyed the opportunity to have sampled such as classic fragrance...however, all I could think about was the large number of men who jumped to their deaths on Wall Street while wearing this fragrance at the start of the Great Depression...and that's not fine nor is it dandy. Again, I love this Classic fragrances and I really, really wanted to love this one...but I didn't.

NOT FINE AND DANDY I tried. I really tried. I got a sample of vintage Le Dandy a few weeks ago and had such a hard time getting my nose around it. I did not smell any of the listed notes. All I got was an initial tart type of floral note (is this the booze everyone speaks of?) that dried down to the typical talcum powder used in an old fashioned barber shop. I thought maybe it was the sample. And I was determined to sniff this juice. So, I ordered another sample of the vintage. Same tart floral drying down to talcum powder. What the heck?? Maybe I should try the reformulation? Too much work. I give up.

I have trying to make myself like it but I can't. The best thing about this is the bottle but I don't care about the bottles, only the juice inside them. The booziness,spices and fruits is a terrible blend. The drydown is mostly cloves for me, which I hate. It's just too many notes that don't mix. I blind bought it about a year ago and have worn it about 5 times. I tried to convince myself that it's a winner but it's not.

Well actually I'm not fan of sweet perfumes and mostly I get a headache when I wear them. But this one is something else and blow my mind every time I sniff this. In this perfume we have fantastic mixture of boozy and fruity notes in a sweet base. And this combo is really comfort and yummy!! Top notes of this perfume are dominant through whole life of it on skin and other notes are almost in background. In opening we have sweet theme of rum and boozy side of whisky plus sweet seductive fruity notes of plum and pineapple!! such a delicious cocktail. After that some spicy notes make this combo balance and more masculine. Overall this a piece of art from house of D'orsay that suitable for every gentleman who wants to stole Hearts.like the name (le dandy ) sujest!! Good power of projection and longevity (Not Powerful). این برند یک برند نیچ و قدیمی هستش که از میراث کنت دغسی فرانسوی میباشد. این برند چندین لاین عطر دارن که این لاین که دارای در های طلایی هستن بهترین اونها میباشن و به نظر من این عطر بهترین در این لاین میباشد. این عطر یه عطر شیرین و جذاب و مرئونه است که خیلی راحت میتونه نظر هر کسی رو به خودش جذب کنه. شیرینی این عطر از میوه های جذاب آلو و آناناس و هلو حاصل شده که عرق نیشکر و ویسکی با اون ترکیب شدن و حاصلش یه بوی خوشمزه و جذاب شده. و این ترکیب در طول عمر عطر یه ترکیب غالب هست و فقط در طول زمان یکم با ادویه ها ترکیبش بالانش تر و مردونه تر میشه. اسمه عطر هم به معنی یک مرد شیک پوشه که واقعا هم برازنده ی اون میتونه باشه. خلاصه کلام عطر جذاب و دوست داشتنیه که یه انتخاب مناسب برای مهمونی ها میتونه باشه. پخش بو و ماندگاری خوبی هم داره.
