Tonka Hysteria

Sometimes I genuinely wonder who the heck is making these “smells like” comparisons on here because this is NOWHERE NEAR Babycat. I promise you it’s so dang different. Babycat is borderline masculine it’s so deep leathery and has a sucker punch of nice rich warm spice. Tonka hysteria is warm but in a soft feminine cinnamon way. This fragrance wasn’t a love at first sniff. Normally I prefer more of a dark rich resinous choice like Babycat but my preference of the Babycat dna leans more to Vanagloria and Vanilla Vice. Vanilla Vice to me is the perfect slightly more feminine Babycat dna that’s perfect for me with its dark richness and slight boozy vibe. Tonka Hysteria is a stripped back rich fragrance that’s living in the space between rich thick tonka vanilla decadence and a certain warm airy vibe. It’s not a soft skin scent by any means but it’s sweet and ethereal and I think the Orris in this scent really makes the magic here it’s that orris and cinnamon that take this from the run of the mill vanilla Tonka combination we see so often in fragrance and it makes it something actually worthy of owning. For me the sillage is far more beautiful and intoxicating than putting my nose right up to my skin which is fine for me because I love a good wafting of my own fragrance hitting me whether it’s a fan blowing it back towards me or me being out in public and myself and others experiencing my scent trail. I’ve been on an Iris/Orris bender lately where I want Iris in my gourmand/ floral gourmand fragrances. Iris Cartagena started an obsession because of that cacao and Iris then Lola at Coat Check made the obsession tenfold. I can’t decide which fragrance reigns supreme between the two but Tonka Hysteria might end up in a three way tie because the sillage of this scent with that cinnamon tonka and soft light airy buttery orris is really flooring me. It’s not exactly the perfect summer fragrance but I can’t help but still wear it because I’m in that stage of needing an Iris fix and currently it’s either Tonka Hysteria or Lola at Coat Check which I’d recommend to any fellow lover or Iris and floral gourmands that tell a magical story in the air because both fragrances have sillage magic. I will say Tonka hysteria is lasting and it projects so don’t get the wrong idea when I describe it as soft but the ethereal essence that fills your nostrils just feels soft and feminine and so dang BEAUTIFUL! At first I was not gonna keep this blind buy fragrance but then one day the sillage just had me intoxicated and that addiction to smelling this in the air has only grown. Up closer to skin I get a very warm tonka cinnamon but in the air I get this almost powdery creamy buttery iris with the cinnamon and Tonka vanilla. It’s all so well blended that it takes time to really discern the notes in the air from one another but that’s even more magical when the fragrance just becomes this intoxicating trail where notes are dancing together so seamlessly. I get the hype around this scent now. D’Orsay seems to be a powerhouse brand because I’ve had FlowerLust and I loved it but it was one of those loves that it smells amazing you just don’t personally like it on yourself and it was a tad too floral like I can’t do just florals it has to be gourmand with vanilla and resins and bakery goodness or fruits and flowerlust was truly after it’s name and was floral explosion but a high quality one that I do love the smell of it’s a gorgeous scent just not my personal style. The only fail I’ve had with the house is everyone’s beloved Holy Berry.. let’s just say that’s one you should never blind buy because you might be like me instead of the influencers that swear it’s the “best ever”. The one thing that isn’t up for debate is the quality. The bottles are amazing with magnetic caps and the notes are listed on the back of each box. And you can tell the fragrances are made with high quality materials thats one thing that can’t be argued whether the scent is good to your nose or not it’s coming from quality even if the scent story misses your personal mark. Tonka Hysteria is worth the hype especially the sillage and I think it’s probably their best work and their easiest to love because its so good i don’t see how anyone would catch a whiff of this and dislike it P.S if you aren’t able to see my review on Holy Berry and you’re curious.. it’s disgusting.. it’s curdled strawberry milkshake that was curdled due to stank leather.. the strawberry milk and leather vibe should’ve never been worlds that mixed because without the milkshake vibe of it all.. the scent could’ve been amazing.

Although they don’t seem to have a lot of common notes, the opening and mid of Tonka Hysteria remind me a lot of Bois Imperial - maybe it’s the olibanum. It is spicy, metallic and minerallic in the opening and mid, and it smells like it could be mistaken for a Quentin Bisch creation. The Tonka sweetness is really subtle at first, but it slowly and methodically appears in the mid and even moreso in the dry down. The sweetness is blended extremely well, and even at its sweetest, it is very subtle and mature, with a hint of almond. The Tonka also provides a subtle tobacco accord throughout. So to me, the fragrance is dynamic and organic. It is what I imagine Antoni Gaudi would smell like. If you have the much cheaper Bois Imperial, occasionally for fun you could just lightly layer it with a Tonka and/or vanilla centric fragrance to create a poor man’s version of this more expensive fragrance. Another fragrance it reminds me of just a little bit is Ex Nihilo's Atlas Fever. In the end, the name “Tonka Hysteria” is misleading to me. That name sounds like it would be a loud and fairly sweet Initio fragrance. Yes, there is a little Tonka almondy sweetness in this, but just a little, and definitely not at first. The fragrance is complex and dynamic. It starts its life as a masculine, spicy, mineralic, metallic, and slightly earthy fragrance, and evolves fairly dramatically into a perfectly unisex rich, and warm amber fragrance with a touch of sweetness that I like very much. I would give it an 8.5/10 and a Fragrantica score of about 4.2. (I edited and raised the score a bit after wearing it for the last few weeks). I like it enough and it is unique enough to me that I bought a bottle from ZGO Perfumery. Update: 10/9/24 I received my bottle. I love the bottle. A heavy metal black cylinder with a strong magnetic cap. The scent is really nice. I am very happy that I got it. I highly recommend it.

[08.52] Received a sample of this, couldn't stop thinking about & smelling it, then fell in love with it. Tonka Hysteria's scent profile is the fragrance I pictured 100% when I first started collecting. Regardless of what people say – it's like a version of Babycat, or even Eau Duelle, that is richer in a sense that's spicier and more sophisticated. However to quote myself in my review of Flower Lust "Something that really let me down however is this fragrance's performance. Though I am not sure if it is just me going nose-blind but, I stop smelling it on myself in less than four hours. I really don't think it stays and radiates as much as people say it does, but maybe a better environment and extensive wear-testings are required." The packaging is obviously still the same, but the bottle does fit this fragrance more. Black minimalism is good because the scent really does all the talking; no need for distractions. Something also that made me anxious about the bottle I bought, but this is more a problem with the shop, is that the atomizer does not seem to be a pressurized one like the one in my bottle of Flower Lust and as it says so on the Internet. Really tried looking online for ways to authenticate mine but could not find a batch code verifier for example as d'Orsay is not as big as other houses yet. Though since it smells exactly like the sample I was given, I guess it should be all fine for now. It is again a plus that the house's offerings as a whole is not not as expensive as others. I really did want to rate this higher and even love this fragrance – but for now I am undecided if I should commit to repurchasing this or others from this brand.

I don't get the rubber/tyres that people are talking about; I also don't think it's like Babycat, besides that they both have a bourbon-type natural-smelling vanilla in them. Babycat is extremely un-sweet, wayyyy too peppery and Leathery, and frankly, is missing the "wow" factor for me. I also don't get ANY link to Velvet Tonka - that's straight up almond marzipan and Tonka, with no spiciness, as well as being quite savory, with a doughy vibe and is in no way as deep as this. This is an extremely elegant and cosy vanilla, tonka, cinnamon, and iris-heavy scent - which I adore. It's the less sweet, chic cousin of Angels' Share. It's almost like a mix of Angels' Share, the same bourbon vanilla as Babycat, and then add in Dior Homme Intense. I'm a woman, and I feel extremely "cool" and intimidating when I wear this fragrance. Update: I initially found it to turn a bit dirty on me after a few hours of wear, but then I bought a full size 50ml bottle, and that issue went away, so perhaps the mini I had sampled, wasn't stored correctly. This is a 10/10. My absolute favorite for Winter, and I'm going to be wearing it any time I need a show stopper fragrance. Zara's Sand Desert at Sunset Intense is still an amazing a dupe for this, but doesn't have the depth and silky smooth vanilla and Tonka as in this one, plus it doesn't have as much power so you have to overspray it quite a bit. That said, performance is fair given that it's a 5th of the price and a much lower oil concentration.

Blind buy success!! I totally disagree this is like Babycat/Vanagloria: those are edgy frankincense and vanilla- Tonka Hysteria is something more.... Orris x Incense x Tonka... Immediately the rubbery leather reminds me of RM5 but there’s also a dense sweet candied coffee/toffee Tonka nuance to a room filling churchy incense that reminds me of Incense suave. The pink pepper and vanilla reminds me of Magnificent Gold- but even though I’m reminded of those three amazing fragrances, Tonka Hysteria still feels unique. The Orris is creating an interesting powdery texture that isn’t cosmetic or doughy like it usually does. The olibanum isn’t going in a sharp pine direction, it’s just resinous and beautiful. I’m just really blown away by this fragrance. The presentation is stunning- the box looks and feels lux without being over done. The Flacon is sexy and feels really good on the hand (I have a 50ml) the sprayer is on par with Dior, Guerlain and Roja Parfums. The sheen left on the skin immediately informs your senses that you’re wearing something luxurious. Yeah, I’m in love and need to sample incense crush.

Although I find this to be boring and lackluster particularly in the opening, I've already been told 2x how amazing I smell and it's only mid-morning. While it lacks the passionate personality of Babycat, a few hours in Tonka Hysteria develops into pleasant vanillic aroma with a little kick from the spices, and some creaminess from the orris and Tonka. The review below that compared this to a Quentin Bisch creation is spot on. Tonka Hysteria actually reminds me of a much more wearable and toned down version of Tuberose Astrale, just swap the tuberose for Lilly of the Valley. Edit - the drydown is amazing, but it literally takes 3 hours to settle into something praiseworthy.

This has quickly become one of my favorite and most worn fragrances during fall and winter. Vanilla, tonka, and myrrh heaven. This is the kind of scent I feel smells amazing in the air. Longevity and projection are both top-notch in my opinion. Works best for colder weather. I don't see the resemblance with RM5 at all, which is also one of my favorite fragrances. However, I do think Tonka Hysteria smells quite similar to Tonkade from Laboratorio Olfattivo. This is also one of few fragrances that gets me compliments from strangers; I personally only buy perfume for myself and never for compliments, but since I know many do, I thought I'd mention it!

I didn’t like Babycat at all, but I absolutely loved this. In the opening, I get a strong iris note similar to Dior Homme Intense. Then it starts to sweeten with vanilla, and just as I worry it’s going to turn into a typical sweet fragrance, there’s a burst of spices. And when it fully dries down and settles on the skin, I understand the comparisons to Babycat. It’s actually one of the rare fragrances I tried without knowing the brand and ended up loving recently. To me, it feels like a much more mature, sophisticated, and luxurious version of Le Male Le Parfum, which I already love. I’ll probably add it to my collection as winter approaches.

It’s BabyCat’s middle eastern cousin. The rich one that goes to art galleries. A powerful opening, although cinnamon kicks the door and enters the room without an invitation. And I really don’t like cinnamon. And yet, when It cooled down, I started to smell the mix Of Orris, Benzoin and olibanum. What a Beautiful combination. A true Niche fragrance. Perfected in an Oriental / Arabic way Does it smell unique? No, it smell like many fragrances mixed together. Is it worth the price? Definitely . Projection: 10 Silage: 10 Be careful this is strong! Try it before you buy it.

First of all, I do get some similarities with Babycat, however I feel it leans more gourmand and over all a better scent on my skin. Although I do love Babycat as well. This just feels like it's another level when it comes to compliments.Gotta look into a full bottle. The smoothness and creaminess are just so inviting. Edit: Rewearing again today and it's to similar to Babycat, which I have so I'm thinking redundant but dang it's so good!

It's the first time I buy a perfume after the first smell I couldn't get it out of my mind like love at first sight, it's a sexy warm seductive scent that lasts all day with strong projection and I can say a little goes a long way 5 SPRAYS MAX more than that and it's too much. Personally, it's the perfect blend between tonka and vanilla with a slight iris underlay that is creamy smooth and sophisticated.

oh lord I expected nothing of this sample. And now I am floored and in trouble after 1 spritz. So delicious. It's benzoin pink pepper ambery incense liquorice vanilla on my skin. I ordered a 90 ml bottle.. Just like I did with 2787 which happens to be from Jordi Fernández too. I didn't know that when I ordered. Apparently I like his scent profle which is seductive and lingers a long time.

this is definitely my next buy, i fell in love just by smelling it on paper :P its been 20 hours and i can still smell it in my room even though i went out after spraying it on my wrist, and ive only sprayed it once at the time feels really unisex, i cant really tell if its masculine or feminine, or maybe its both at once

I'm glad someone has resurrected the scent structure and trail of Armani La Femme Bleu, such an ethereal beauty that is impossible to find. This also reminds me of another mystical beauty, Titania by CJ Scents. And this new offering by D'Orsay has Impressive longevity - one spray is with you all day!

This to me is like a cross between La belle le parfum ( sweet sweet tonka, totally transported me to a time when i used it) and babycat/rosendo mateu no5 type of ‘burning plastic’ addictive vanilla. Ugh it’s so good, pretty basic but just strong presentation rich scent!

I love this but I’m adding to the Babycat similarity choir which I already own and do in fact feel like this would be redundant. That said there’s a creaminess to this that I think makes it edge out Babycat ever so slightly for me.

Guerlain Tonka Imperiale reconstructed through the lens of 24 Gold (also done by Jordi Fernandez) to achieve a similar warmth, billowy texture, and insane strength and sillage as the Scentstory masterpiece. Great stuff.

It's so creamy and long-lasting. The scent lingers for hours. I sprayed it on my coat and hung it in my room, and my entire room was filled with that vanilla-like aroma. Gorgeous. Very unisex.

Got my hands on a decant and I can say that I'm absolutely obsessed. I will purchase a bottle as soon as I get the chance.

Very special and unique fragrance, the tonka-herbal juice is loud, coca-cola-like and addictive.

This is absolutely gorgeous! A blind buy for me and an absolute gem! Nothing groundbreaking or revolutionary going on here, but still a beautiful composition nonetheless. It opens with a blast of sweet, spicy vanilla, and quickly (after about 3-5 minutes) develops which is when the tonka begins to shine, with life of the fragrance primarily being what I would describe as a dense, nutty center of tonka, mandarin, spicy cinnamon and light florals blanketed in a cloud of vanilla and resins. Surprising thing about this fragrance is although gets dangerously close to the brink of “too sweet” it never actually breeches the line, nor does it ever turn what some may describe as being “too feminine”. Furthermore, this fragrance PROJECTS and actually does so for quite a while! For context I say this although I haven’t even tested it on skin yet! I sprayed it on paper and even an hour later I keep getting whiffs of it as it sits undisturbed across the room! Really impressive! This is a great find! Definitely cozy and sweet, but also sort of intriguing! Perfect for winter, both during the day and especially for date nights and is completely unisex.

I was surprised by how fresh and invigorating the opening was. It bursts with zesty orange, cherry syrup, and spice—bright and lively, but not in a “Christmas cake” way. Instead, it feels closer to a fresh, uplifting cologne. Very quickly, though, it softens into something powdery, milky, and smooth—like a dash of cream stirred in. You can really sense the way the fragrance evolves with body temperature, shifting as it warms on the skin. Then came an unexpected turn: Play-Doh? The combination of powder, the subtle sweetness of tonka, and a faint trace of citrus from the opening creates this odd, rubbery, play-doh-like stage that I personally didn’t care for. Fortunately, once that phase passes, what remains is a beautiful, powdery tonka accord that’s soft yet not too heavy. It feels sophisticated, mature, and well-blended. All in all, this scent is great—and definitely more unique than Flower Lust. But I’m not quite sure it’s one I’d commit to in a full bottle.

I do love this fragrance, but don't want to personally smell this way, if that makes sense, which is why I rate this as a Like not a Love. There is a powdery and slightly metallic (leathery? my nose usually seems to interpret leather accords as being metallic) initial impression on first spray, when it's still wet on the skin, and then right away the semi-sweet tonka/vanilla note and the resins emerge. The combination of dry and sweet features nicely balance each other such that I wouldn't label this as a "powdery" fragrance or a "vanilla" or a "leather" fragrance per se -- it is a harmony of all of those elements. Tonka notes don't usually agree with my skin, but the tonka here is lovely, maybe because it is so perfectly married with vanilla. The fragrance stays stable to the very late drydown, and it lasts for many hours, and for days on clothing.

Tonka, a chocolate-leaning benzoin, smoky leather nuances, resins and of course, vanilla. As a winter scent, it’s excellent. The name had me convinced I wouldn’t like it, but it surprised me in the best way because it actually smells refined and luxurious. Not quite a gourmand, though it does have a sweet edge; one that feels comforting rather than cloying. As it settles, all the soft elements gather and form a powdery, incense-tinged vanilla. Spicy, mysterious, and quietly seductive. This is in the same vein as RMno:5, Babycat, and Queen of the Night, which is why I liked it. Tag(s): cuddly tonka, incense-tinged vanilla, seductive, warm

True to the name this is a strong tonka opening with sweet woody hay, cherry vanilla thing tonka can bring. Settles into pleasant if slightly generic warm vanillic glow. Projects well for the first few hours and lingers a long time like you would expect from something tonka heavy. It’s solid, but maybe a little one dimensional. This reminds me of the original Armani Code which I wore a lot when it came out and was the first tonka heavy fragrance I had. Surprised no one else has mentioned it.

Gently spiced vanilla somewhere between creamy and powdery textures attributable to the push and pull between tonka and orris notes. I enjoy neither lily-of-the-valley nor iris but other than a slight floral lightness, these floral notes are barely distinguishable in Tonka hysteria. Longevity wasn't great on me, nevertheless a complex and pleasant scent. I despise Babycat and don't see the similarity because the harshness of Babycat is totally off balance.

When I read about fragrance and its name I became so curious, with that name the whole city should smell like tonka, right? A few short notes: The name is completely misleading. It should be called Tonka Substeria. The silage on me it’s between intimate to moderate. It is gorgeous & well blended but too subtle! It’s longevity is +10 hours Definitely unisex. In my opinion a bit too expensive for what it is.

This is a warm, powdery vanilla. tonka, amber. I see comparisons to RM5 and Babycat which I don't really get, as those are saffron dominant fragrances and I can't see saffron listed here or detect it myself. To me this is more akin to Ambre Magique by Mizensir. Really pleasant, cosy and wearable but not different enough from others in my collection to be full bottle worthy.

At first it smelled like a mix of Le Male Elixir and Le Parfum to me, so i was disappointed. But the more i kept smelling it, the more i saw that i was wrong and i’m good with it now. It’s not a masterpiece it smells good but it’s not special to me. Performances are really good, i got compliments with this. Currently i have a 10ml sample but i wont buy a full bottle.

Pure vanilla and tonka baked beans. The appeal comes from how stupidly strong it is, to the point where I refuse to belive any of the other notes are real. Notes are just completely made up of course, so my theory is that they just took the basic vanilla ingredients that everyone uses, and they just amped it up to eleven. The simplicity is nice.

I don't see how this is similar to YSL Babycat but overall it's a great fragrance. Not blind buy worthy but everyone should give it a try. Initial spray is awesome.

This is nothing like babycat or RM5, way sweeter. This is like a little smoother and tamer version of velvet tonka

This one is creamy and very vanilla forward with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. It is spicy and delicious but damn this is strong. It has an amost unique depth and warmth to it, but is a bit too powdery for my taste. It easily fills up an enitre room with its presence, and while it is hyptnotizing it is also a bit too powerful. It is like you are baking gingerbread cookies and have added way too much spices and when you bite into the dry cookie your mouth is drying up and reaching for a glass of cold milk, but instead you get a sweet condenced one, or maybe a glass of eggnog? Unfortunately, the tonka is not as prominent as you would expect given its name. All that aside, it is a great fall and winter fragrance, and absolutely unisex.

This is.... idk what this is. It confuses my brain. It opens synetic, LOUD like a shot, and really synthetic, almost a bit sour even. Did i say synthetic? And yet sometimes I like the smell, kind of like in the way one might like the smell of burnt tires or a can of gasoline. But even in those times, its never been a love, you know? And some people really do love this one, so I guess its time for a rehome. Rose Blaze wasn't a love for me either, partially due to also being super synthetic. Maybe this just isn't the house for me. Great longevity though, I will say that!

On my first spray, I really enjoyed the powdery take on Tonka, then moved on with my day and didn't pay too much attention to it. It was pleasantly spicy and wearable for sure. I read some reviews later on and tried another spray of it. Still a nice opening but I have to agree that it is indeed a dead ringer for Babycat. There's more powder and less pepper maybe, as Babycat unfortunately is a little harsh to me on dry down. This is better in that sense, but now that I've made the association, it's hard not to think of Babycat.

Sweet, spicy, powdery, ambery vanilla. Definitely a cold weather scent. I typically avoid cinnamon - and that cinnamon is there, but it reads more spicy-warmth than straight up cinnamon stick to me, which is good. I can see why people like it. I don't think this one will suit me in Florida, though. It's just too warm spicy for my tastes and climate.

Resin heavy, gives it a bit of a leather smell. It does indeed have a similar vibe a Babycat to my nose. Can smell almost like gasoline also to my nose. So definitely not a safe blind buy. The dry down is a warm resinous vanilla tonka. Lasts at least 8 hours easy. I sprayed 2 sprays and I smelled it all day.

I love the opening of this fragrance. It’s such a sweet, spicy vanilla and I love the tonka bean note. . Unfortunately the dry down is way too overpowering with powder to me. The powder gets stronger and stronger as it dries down and becomes suffocating.

Its not bad, defiantly fills a room but after the dry down a powdery note comes up that just makes me sneeze. overall scent is kind of boring.

Instantly reminded me of Oh la La by Teo Cabanel I even sprayed them side by side and yes they are very similar Just ok for me

Babycat, Le Male elixir, sickly sweet resins, a touch leathery. A good smell but very cloying and not original at all.

call me crazy but this is your beloathed joop! homme... smells like an evil micheals crafts. synthetic in an unappetizing way... headachy to me. there might be a world where this completely transforms on skin to something pretty but i couldn't get the tester card close enough to me to know....

It's okaaaaaay, warm spicy friendly mild tonka bean. Not hysterical enough for the name. It felt like a scent that just ticked all the boxes but didn't really deliver, if that makes sense. Like oh hey there's the tonka... and the spice... and a hint of orris and amber... and we're good. I'm surprised this is an extrait. It's a light airy bouncy kind of tonka. If you flip the names of Tonkade and Tonka Hysteria, conceptually I think they'd work better. THAT was a hysterically deep tonka. This could pass as tonka juice/tonka ade. Definitely nowhere near Babycat. Vanagloria is similar but really only towards the tail end, but lacks the depth that Vanagloria gives. Comparatively I'd argue it smells closer to BDK's Velvet Tonka, if you're into that. But this is me coming from my preference of tonka as a smell that brings such deep smoothness to perfumes, so I'm not a big fan when (especially for a perfume with Tonka in the name + you'd expect it to be the star note [looking at you too Tonka 25]) it takes a back seat like this.

I know people perceive fragrances differently, but I don’t think some of the reviewers below even tried the scent on skin 😅 This is not a simple fragrance at all... it’s very well blended indeed so the notes mix together nicely, but definitely not in a shallow way. The early dry-down is very incense and myrrh heavy, so make sure you’re comfortable with those notes if you’re blind buying. Also, the idea of it is similar to Babycat (particularly the opening on a strip and without a side-by-side comparison) but its behaves completely different on skin and in the air. This is definitely not a redundant fragrance if you enjoy the style. Longevity is fabulous and sillage goes down to moderate after the first 30min-1h. This is not what they call ‘beast-mode’ or ‘nuclear’ and thank heavens for that!

I am not a fan of gourmands and I generally have a bad impression of tonka from Guerlain’s very sweet releases. But this was a pleasant surprise. Along with Incense Crush, Tonka Hysteria is a fragrance that I would consider purchasing. First of all, it performs like an extrait which helps justify the price (somewhat). But it also smells like a gorgeous, warm but balanced nutty iris with texture and sparkle from benzoin, olibanum, pepper and cinnamon. It’s not a dessert gourmand like the Guerlains, it’s more of a rich oriental from the same family as diptyque Opsis, Dior Bois D’Argent, etc. (although much denser and with the buttery, nutty, savory profile of tonka bean). If you like these sort of modern orientals, it is worth sampling this one. 3 out of 5.

I mostly get iris with some slightly sweet resins. It's not too sweet, it could be sweeter based on the notes. It was a blind buy and if I went only by the notes and reviews I would probably be disappointed, but my friend told me it was iris heavy before I bought it so I knew what I was getting. Since I love iris, this is a win for me. I am surprised by all the reviews saying this is very sweet and gourmand, on my skin it's not at all. Also, I like this a lot more than Babycat. Babycat is too peppery for me. But Tonka Hysteria does have something that reminds me of suede note, so there are similarities.

I agree with most... This does remind me of Babycat (which I adore) but this is more complex, more exotic, it’s resinous and spicy. I love Rosendo Mateu No5 only on my husband because it turns into potpourri on me, Tonka Hysteria has the best of no5 with no potpourri! A melange of Babycat and RM No5. I think Black Tie is more elegant than Babycat but I still preferred Babycat for being more frothy and sweet (I don’t always care for something more elegant). But Tonka Hysteria seems a bit more complex and spicier than Black Tie. What a gem this is if these are your type of scents. Unisex and long lasting.

Okay reviewing again after testing it a day after receiving. Maybe it did get ruined in the trip? It's stronger now but stronger in that the tonka comes out a lot sharper now. I understand the powder but it's a thick interpretation of powder now. Still closer for me to Velvet Tonka, dare I say this feels more velvety of a tonka than that now. Still not my jam though! It's a very linear tonka too I feel. Definitely tonight plays on tonka way clearer/bolder. I'd take back my previous review but I guess this is also a cautionary tale to let your perfumes sit a bit after travel lol

This is nothing like Babycat... I hate the whole Babycat, Vanilla Barka DNA. On to the actual scent; beautiful. I won't be getting a full bottle. I got a travel spray for $3. It was on my fb list. This smells 90% to Loubirouge without the spit smell. So, if you like LR you'll love this one! I don't get much Tonka its more so orris, lily, and benzoin. & I say it doesn't smell like tonka because I work with tonka beans daily raw and in bakhoor smoke. Definitely smells of raw orris and benzoin resin. I do get hints of cinnamon but its similar to the cinnamon note in Oud Cadenza.
