Ambery Vetiver

Lemony violet cedar. I love it! It has the citrusy fresh punch of Light Blue, but is deeper: slightly smoky, slightly powdery, woody. Sprayed on a paper towel, it's overwhelmingly citrus. I smell bergamot and lemon, with just a hint of woods. Sprayed on my skin, it's very different right away. I get the cedar first, with a citrusy violet background. The citrus notes last a long time on me, while the powdery violet quietly fades away and I'm left with a lingering soft fresh scent mingled with amber. The staying power is really good for me! I think this fragrance works for any season due to the warm cedar/amber notes, though the predominant citrus blast definitely feels summery. I can't wait to wear this on a beach trip in a few months! I haven't even let my bottle macerate at all, and it's already scuh a beautifully blended fragrance, so I'm curious to see if even more notes will come through the longer it sits. I was the most nervous about this scent in my Dossier order, and it turned out to be my favorite! I have never sniffed Byredo Bal d'Afrique, so I can't say how it compares, though I do smell most of the notes advertised.

This is a perfect crisp fresh light airy pleasant friendly fragrance. Has just a touch of sweetness to it but not overly done. Fresh white tshirt n jeans, easy to wear, everyday any time anywhere, clean simple. Unisex. Perfect for any weather. Longevity on clothes for this comfortable fall day has been 10 hours and counting.

I fell in love with Bal d’Afrique Absolu and needed something to scratch that itch. This is very nice. It does not remind me of Absolu but is pretty similar to the OG. It’s not a 1:1 but close enough. I find that I can smell it more than the OG which I like. Easy wear especially for summer time.

This is my day 3 of spraying and wearing review. This is what I smell: Top: Candied lemon + rooty-earthy-vetiver Middle: Light lemon + rooty-earthy-vetiver + aqua-net-hairspray/plastic-barbie-doll Base: Light lemon + rooty-earthy-vetiver + aqua-net-hairspray/plastic-barbie-doll The candied lemon is the most enjoyable part of this perfume. Unfortunately, the vetiver overpowers it. The vetiver note is not bad, but it is also not good. And, finally, the aquanet-plastic-barbie boll smell 'might' come from the type of violet, alehyde or alcohol used. Either way, I hate that smell. This smells alot like to OG, except this has a more ROOTY-EARTHY smelling vetiver and an unfortunate aqua-net smell. All that to say, this is a no for me. As a result, I am very thankful that I can return it.

Dossier's Ambery Vetiver is their inspired by Byredo Bal D'Afrique. For me, I enjoy Bal D'Afrique's citrus forward scent while Dossier takes a different spin on it with the addition of amber. Which to me enhances the vetiver and cedar base notes overshadowing the fresh bergamot and floral notes giving it it's own unique spin. TLDR: If you're looking for a direct replica of Bal D'Afrique I'd say this might not be the one you're looking for, but if you enjoy woodier scent profiles that also has features of Bal D'Afrique, this might fit the bill!

I have Dossier clones that are much closer to the real thing. The real one has stronger florals and citrus and a different more earthy, rooty vetiver has been used in the Dossier which overshadows the rest of the blend at times. I like it but some people will be put off by that vetiver note.
