Aromatic Sage

Dossier Aromatic Sage is surprisingly the first Dossier fragrance to take on one of the many derivatives of the Invictus DNA. That fragrance being Valentino Uomo Born in Roma. The notes are a bit different than the Valentino. Valentino Uomo Born in Roma has notes of Mineral notes, Violet Leaf, Salt, Ginger, Sage, Woody Notes and Vetiver. Aromatic Sage has notes of Pineapple, Pink Pepper, "Water fruits", Ginger, Aromatic Notes, Violet Leaf, Sage, Woody Notes and Vetiver. Violet Leaf and Ginger were swapped from the top and mid notes with the remaining mud and base notes nearly being 1 to 1. Before I go any further, what in the blue blazes is a "watery fruits"? Is that like a melon or something? Dossier Aromatic Sage I feel opens with a Aromatic and watery open. I think the watery fruits note blends with the aromatic notes in the mid to give a feel of the mineral notes seen in fragrances like Born in Roma and Acqua di Gio Profondo. There is an undercurrent of ginger and pink pepper with some pineapple. The sage comes in as the top notes fade. I feel the ginger gives way to the sage beautifully. The base I notice the amber wood and that's it. It really bridges the gap between Azzaro Wanted and the Invictus scents minus the lemon open. I'm surprised Dossier hasn't released an Invictus like fragrance before. I mean they have done another (Paco) Rabanne fragrance in 1 Million and another Montblanc Legend (Legend Spirit is the Invictus (Aqua) dupe.) Dossier tends to do popular scents and often does similar scents so it is a bit surprising that Invictus and Legend Spirit were left alone. I also find it weird that Dossier didn't do another Valentino first as Uomo and more so Uomo Intense were more in the fragrance buyers favorites. Dossier tends to find a cheaper but still fragrance enthusiast market and to miss on Uomo and Uomo Intense is a head scratcher to me when they do Tom Ford for Men. Dossier performs less like Invictus and more like a RS/SS version of the base model Montblanc Legend Spirit. I have often complained about Legend Spirit since it smells like a deodorant but for 4 hours (imagine the sweat it off in the heat of summer.) This I get about 6 pushing 7. Still shy of the beast Invictus which I would say is the IROC/Hellcat/Demon to Dossier's RS/SS. For non car fans, I apologize but this is a great analogy considering the differences between the three. I can use this in spring and summer, possibly fall. It is for casual and work, maybe dates but know with the Invictus DNA you are running into being a brother/ex scent at this point. Dossier Aromatic Sage really smells nice. I cannot take much away from it. It sells for a bit less than a similar sized Azzaro Wanted. Dossier only comes in 1.7oz/50ml bottles and I got my Azzaro Wanted with a deodorant stick for a bit more on sale at a wholesaler (not sure if it was father's day or Christmas.) it does not really have a quality drop like some dupes can have. This is not my favorite of the Dossier dupes but it is very formidable. My favorite is Woody Ginger (Tom Ford for Men) or Woody Tobacco (Jazz Club) depending on the day. However this is a good summer option. For this I give it a 7.8 out of 10. It is not my favorite take on Invictus but it is serviceable and lasts a good amount of time.
