Gourmand Vanilla

My absolute favorite vanilla I’ve ever worn- but unfortunately, sits too close to the skin for me to really enjoy it. It’s almost undetectable on me until I press my nose to the sprayed skin or hair or clothes and really whiff. Hahahaha. It’s a gorgeous mature and (on me) very herbal/spicy vanilla. I loved it- but didn’t keep it in my collection because for me there was no projection. It did last for hours and hours though. If I sprayed it in the morning, I could still smell it on my skin in the evening.

i typically wear warm scents well, and this is no exception. it smells almost exactly like tom ford's VS. it's initial scent is a very prominent, almost alcoholic/root beer float vanilla, then dries into a warm, inviting, intoxicating milky vanilla, at least in my experience with it. with everything, i recommend testing first to see how it sits. it reminds me of a late fall/winter night with a lover, cozy in bed, wrapped in sheets, watching your favorite movie and eating fresh baked sugar cookies.

Absolutely fire soft vanilla with almond and ylang. Its sweet but its bright sweet, not cloying gas you out thick sweet. Layers so well with any dank spicey/leathery/earthy fragrances. One of the better TF VS dupes available in my opinion. Its probably meant as a feminine frag but its so good, I had to pull the trigger. Smells a little like plastic until some air gets in the bottle starting the maturation process. I layer it with qaaed al shebab, or Bentley for men.

dry down is a really really close kayali vanilla 28 dupe, but the initial smell is straight up tiger balm. embracing my inner asian auntie ig. literally could still smell it on me after sleeping with it on too (post like 12 hrs)

Comes out nutty with vanilla mixed. Gets creamier by the hour. I don’t understand the hate :( as a true vanilla lover, this is really close to just being vanilla with not so overpowering notes.

@SBusch that’s exactly what the original smells like. It’s piss with a bitter antique smelling dirty play dough. Dossiers interpretation is actual a tad bit sweeter and well blended

Almost nailed TF VS to the T. A dry, vanilla powdered sugar and sweet almond oil up front, like the smell of almond macarons/madeline cookies, accompanied by a glorious, full-bodied floral ylang ylang, possessing just the right amount of "skank", just like the original; resting on a bed of nutty tonka and dry santal for the body of this fragrance. It's obviously not exact in quality/authenticity regarding the essential oils used in the original, vs. the economically favorable synthetics used to produce this one; but it's blending that matters - and that's uncanny. Impressive, Dossier! I love TF VS, but didn't find it versatile enough to justify spending what equates 17 hours at my job to have it. Found a Dossier "vanilla lovers" gift set at Target & snapped it up just to see how dupey these dupes are. So far so good. 👍🏻 Updating 20 October to say I get a distinct gardenia note in here, too... Just like the OG, which is teeming with exotic florals (orchid, ylang ylang, gardenia, champaca). This literally has the same depth as the $500 bottle 🥹

I liked TF VS at the store but I’m not 500 dollars on a bottle of perfume rich...yet lol. This one smells better to me because it smells like I have 450 dollars left to spend on other stuff haha. There are also not as many complaints of this smelling like hot ass in the reviews so maybe the synthetics they swapped in were actually a good idea, haha. I literally can’t tell the difference and if you say you can...lol I don’t believe you. After having this bottle for a month and wearing it regularly, I went back to Dillards and sprayed the original TF on myself and still thought it true and accurate. For about 2 minutes it’s different and then after it dries it’s exactly the same. Husband agrees. Also if you think this smells like some sort of pee or poop please don’t sniff a bottle of actual vanilla extract or seed pods; you will probably die because that’s what this smells like.

At the start, it is very almond forward, but after hours of wear, I start to get spice similar to eau duelle by dyptique. I love it. I sprayed this morning, and at 2:00 PM, I still smell great. I do wish the sillage was stronger. It seems to sit close to the skin?

smells like vanilla coke to me

I’ve never smelled Tom Ford Vanilla Sex, so I can’t compare directly, but this one is strong. Like...borderline cloying. I have to go really light with it because it can easily tip into headache territory. This is definitely a boozy, sweet vanilla. The notes lean into vanilla, amber, and soft woods, with a syrupy richness that sits heavy on the skin. It’s not subtle. It’s sweet and very present. I don’t wear this on its own because it’s just too sweet for my taste. Where it does shine for me is layering. I use it to add a touch of vanilla to Tom Ford Black Orchid, and that combo is actually really good. I’ll go heavier on Black Orchid and do one light spray of this just to round it out. That said, I won’t be repurchasing. I’ll finish the bottle using it for layering, but I’ll be looking for a better vanilla that’s a little less heavy and easier to control. I’m curious to see how the ALT version compares.

I don't know if I'm going crazy or if all of these Dossier scents have this underlying incensey smokey kind of grossness to them. But this one has that mild incense undertone I do not like... However, ignoring that, it's pretty nice. It's primarily vanilla but the almond, coconut, and caramel notes also stick out to me.

Why does this smell like Cherry Pepsi to me?

There’s something about Dossier fragrances that just doesn’t work for me, especially their vanilla. It comes across very cheap and overly generic. Like a basic, artificial vanilla with no depth. A few of their scents are decent, but in my opinion, they’re overpriced for the quality, especially when there are much better dupes out there that don’t have that synthetic, low-quality note. My sister wanted to try this one and sprayed it generously, thinking she’d love it, it was instant regret. She ended up hating it and called it one of the worst vanilla fragrances she’s ever smelled. 1/10 Sillage 3/10 Longevity 4/10

Unfortunately, a very lovely vanilla bean that smells so similar to vanilla extract, with a creamy coconut and... Human urine. I have some tolerance for indolic notes, I love jasmine and other white flowers, but this just smells like someone has an aim issue. I really don't know what note/compound causes it, but it's upsetting because the vanilla is quite nice, but anything redeeming about this scent is overshadowed by the fact that it literally smells as though it has been pissed on. Looking at all the notes, on paper I should love it but I just do not.

after a few months of occasionally picking up the bottle to give it a sniff when trying to choose a fragrance for the day, i finally came on here to figure out what i was smelling that was so unpleasant & how to describe it. i thought "cheesy" for a while. it was piss. all almond, a little vanilla extract & human urine. kinda like when my sister moisturizes my nephews face with a vanilla lotion stick & leaves his diaper on for 1 too many pees. with a hint of doll plastic.

Yuck, sorry I'm not drinking the Dossier Kool aid. Every one I've tried is 🤢 nasty.

The name of this frag is so confusing. This is almost all almond, and not the good kind. Spicy cherry chapstick. Not a safe blind buy. I was able to sniff at Target and that's what I recommend!

This starts out as powdery vanilla candle then it turns into a sweet pee smell. I’m not sure what the original smell is like, but hopefully it isn’t as gross as this.
