Musky Gaiac

Never smelled Gaiac 10 and not planning to. I bought this perfume strictly for the notes and fell in love with the scent. On days where I want to smell white t-shirt clean and not in the mood for perfume-like scents I pick up this bottle. Doesn’t smell like a perfume/cologne at all leans 100% unisex has a very distinct clean scent, definitely not for everyone and wouldn’t call this a safe blind buy. Smells like a perfect blend of incense, woods, & citrus. It blends beautifully in the dry down giving you this smoky clean scent that I can smell all day. Excellent for all seasons. I am on my third bottle of this stuff and will continue to repurchase as long as dossier has it available.

Soft, slightly powdery, clean scent without any florals. I like Gaiac 10 but cannot justify the price point. This definitely has a bit more alcohol in it, so you do have to wait a few minutes for the fragrance to settle onto the skin. On first whiff, smells almost identical to the sample of Gaiac 10 I received though I can't compare to the full perfume and i'm okay with that. I like to wear this to work or in areas that are not very scent-friendly (for those with scent and allergy sensitivities in public spaces). Nice skin scent, I like layering it with other scents.

This scent is just amazing. For me, it smells exactly like the original. Great projection. Do not mention its sillage since it's indeed a skin scent.

The only difference between this and Lelabo Gaiac 10 is $300.00

To my nose this smells a lot like my sample of Guaiac 10. Soft, smokey and cloudy. Some day's it's overly smokey to me, especially on first spray, however I always enjoy the dry down. I agree with other users that the Dossier version may be slightly weaker and less complex than the Le Labo original. Still, it satisfied my palo santo itch and kept me from spending an exorbitant amount of money on the city exclusive.

When I first sprayed this on today, I was thinking maybe I should have not worn this in the summer, but the scent profile matched my crisp natural linen outfit - meaning if you had to pick a scent that smells fresh and breezy, but also dry, like crisp linen, this is it. As much as I loved the dryness, I was not in love with the opening. It was a blast of aroma-chemicals that took awhile to settle, but with no opening notes, just mid notes of wood, and base notes of frankencense. Plus, it's very linear which took a little fun out of the journey for me. Even though this isn't normally my favorite genre of fragrance, I will admit that I felt clean and put together in it despite the heat, and I'll definitely wear it again to make up my mind to decide if I want to keep it or not. So far, it's just a like. Maybe it would be better in cooler weather, I hope?

First impression was confusing but I actually like this! It is a unique piece in my collection. I get first a smoky, peppery vibe which I did not associate with the term "perfume", rather a place. Wood storage maybe. On some days I totally get barbeque vibes lol. It whispers when freshly applied on my skin but as it warms up I get whiffs of it through the day. It smells cozy, warm, interesting but really inoffensive. It smells clean, but not soapy, fresh out of the shower clean. More like freshly cut wood clean. I am not sure this is considered a "your skin but better" fragrance, but to me it kinda is. Unisex, every season appropriate, office friendly, would say it is not a safe blind buy. Update: I ended up selling it because it keeps smelling like BBQ :( the woody magic is gone. Maybe because of the warmer weather?

I wanted to like this one so bad. I haven’t smelled Gaiac 10 before & I don’t really intend to, but this dupe just doesn’t really do it for me. The smoky barbecue smell dominates the musky/powdery notes, to the point that I can’t detect them at all. I sprayed it on myself this morning and I don’t know if it’s my body chemistry, but no matter how many times I wear it, it smells the same. Smells very similar to my dog’s treats— just barbecue smell. I don’t mean to insult Dossier at all; I really like the company and I have a few other fragrances from them, but this one in particular is pretty unappealing to me.

Woodier than gaiac 10, no more smoky or sweet if you ask me. Actually maybe less smoky. But wow I've got to come back and update this if my opinion changes but this stuff didn't last an hour. I wear gaiac 10 to work and can smell it all the way through my 12 hour shift in the hospital. This was woody, cedar, piles of wood, PILES. And then poof. I actually loved it until it disappeared.

I can definitely see the inspiration here but there's enough missing to be really disappointed if you're trying to save because you love the original scent. It's not bad but I'd rather buy the original, no matter how atrocious Le Labo pricing are for City Exclusive, or buy something else

I cant compare to the original but this is a hidden gem that really confused me at first by how light and fleeting it was- this is one of the best clean base musk centric fragrances i have ever tried. I usually dont go for that sort of thing, clean musks are abundant in fragrances these days and are often poorly done- and in general coming off fresh isnt my MO typically- but this actually smells laundry clean in the best way- not clinically cold and soapy, it has a human softness and warmth thats more akin to the feeling of putting on a shirt fresh out of the dryer. Many clean musks dont create an inviting reaction out of me, but this feels inviting and inoffensive and just nice, universally pleasing, and well blended/ doesnt smell like aromachemicals. Forget about any of the other woody elements or anything here, because they are very fleeting. But if youre looking for a great laundry musk (and i do mean laundry-y, not detergent-y like something like blanche by byredo is) then try this out

I have ordered all of the Dossier versions of Le Labo fragrances, intrigued by them and interested in the niche notes at a great price. Musky Gaiac comes across to me as a musky, woodshop-fresh, creamy suede blanket. It wears pretty close to the skin at the four hour mark, but it wears very well on clothes. This is a great layering scent. I'm very pleased with it, and wear it when I want to feel cozy, safe, and relaxed.

This smells like the top notes of the original which is nice but it lacks the complexity that gaiac 10 has. I wasn't expecting it to be as complex as the original but it does lose a lot of appeal for me and I don't reach for it. I bought it to kind of curb my longing for gaiac 10, but it has actually backfired because I don't feel satisfied and want the actual le labo scent now.

I’ve owned Gaiac 10 and it’s a lovely fragrance that’s wildly overpriced for what it is. To my nose, this is 95% of the way there, with the only difference being a good thing—it wears lighter and fresher without some of the oily, bacony, smoky heaviness of Gaiac 10 (which I assume is from real Gaiacwood oil). And this performs at least as well as the original.

This is a weaker less complex version of the Le Labo one. I see the inspiration and am using this one until I am able to afford the real one. I like to layer this scent with other perfumes to give them complexity. I even had a nurse that was taking my blood complement the smell of this perfume because I sprayed it on my arm.

Today I am wearing a dupe of this by Montange Parfums, why they are not listed on Fragrantica beats me, They make much more accurate and high quality dupes compared to Dossier. Fantasic wood scent with some wafts of incense, Not sweet at all! Love it
