Musky Oakmoss

Musky Oakmoss is a great smelling Aventus clone from Dossier. That said, for what it is it is over priced. Musky Oakmoss comes 50ml for $50USD. I got mine from Walmart at maybe half if not 3/5ths the price in the discount rack. Musky Oakmoss gives you that apple, pineapple bergamot open of nearly everything that smells like Aventus. The mid smells like birch. And the base is that Musky amber oakmoss that kind of gives of a leather vibe but not quite. Performance is fine. It can be worn nearly any day any occasion. My real problem is its price. Dossier had a niche in making clones that most people didn't make. Designer clones at 50ml for $30, niche at 50ml for $50. This was before Lataffa and that Maison Alhambra imprint or Fragrance World became prevalent. Aventus however was one of the bigger clones and many offered 100ml or more for less than $50. My suggestion would be stick with one of those unless you find it on clearance in Walmart like I did.

Great as a signature type scent. Clean, mature, masculine, it opens with fresh spice and a slight touch of bitterness from the bergamot and oakmoss, and a bit of sweetness from the pineapple. After a few minutes the rush of spice falls back into balance with the rest of the heart of the fragrance, the pineapple, birch, oakmoss, and patchouli all work together to smell like a fresh, spicy, slightly sweet walk through the woods. After the dry down, the base of amber and musk join all the other notes to smooth everything out and give a bit of warmth and depth. The scent is by far the best part of this fragrance, I massively enjoy smelling it off of myself and my clothes through the day. If people smell this, they will compliment you on it. Unfortunately on the weaker side projection-wise; definitely over spray this one to reach people arm's distance away (~8 sprays around the neck/chest area). I also am a bit let down by the performance, ~3-4 hours on skin before it stops projecting, but you can try also spraying on clothes to help make it last longer through the day. At around $50 for 50ml, this is where the lack of performance and projection become bigger issues. Although I very much so enjoy the scent, I'm not 100% sure I'll be buying it again after the bottle I have runs out, and leaning towards not as I try other things that play in this Aventus style space.

Nice clean and fruity scent that smells almost like the original on drydown. Had my spouse wear this one wrist with Aventus on the other and there is only a subtle difference with dossier's version. Aventus' quieter younger brother.

If you like aventus this is the closest clone I've smelled. I would not be able to tell them apart. Could just be my nose but even the length of time it takes to get to the drydown is identical.

Not great. Kind of just smells like lemons with a little bit of woods after sitting. 5/10
