Oud & Rose on Fire

I have never in my life fallen so in love with a scent so quickly as I did with Oud & Rose on Fire. (well, okay, ONCE, but it was a candle at a craft fair haha). I bought this blind based on how well vanilla and musk notes sit on my skin, and knowing that I adore well-done rose scents -- I was hopeful, but pragmatically prepared for the worst case scenario regardless. I didn't need to be, turns out. I am utterly entranced, absolutely obsessed. I would warn others that the opening is strong on the honey, which does linger on my personal skin chemistry, but blends incredibly well with the musk and vanilla and dries down into something deeply romantic and sexy. The scent lasts until washed off, in my experience, and sillage is close to skin, which is my preferance. It does also have staying power on fabrics, even after a couple of days. (As an aside, I made sure to crowd test this one for "old lady" vibes. I was assured that this is NOT one of those scents.) This is now a fixed staple on my shelf and a guaranteed repeat buy. I will be inconsolable if Dossier discontinued this.

This is such a lovely and mysterious woody rose incense perfume..for the money it is well performing. Better than many rose perfumes I've spent so much more money on.The rose lasts n lasts, the oud and saffron are soft but present, like a supporting cast, rather than an overwhelming presence. While a man might wear this, I really think it leans more femme.. I wore this last night and woke with warm whispers of scent sneaking out of the covers..I love perfume you get to wake up to. Very sexy..just ordered another bottle today. NOTE- Feb '25--was sampling Roses Vanille by Mancera.. couldn't figure out what it was reminding me of- and it was this one. Now, the oud & saffron are not in the Mancera, but the rose & vanilla are absolutely spot on. And mixing them was INCREDIBLE. It added a beautiful extra rose push, the vanilla softened the oud...and WOW did it last. Better projection and a compliment from the UPS guy...yes, please!

It's a VERY gender-neutral smelling rose. I love it! it smells really nice on my skin.

It’s almost summer here and am trying this for the first time. It’s def evening (and am wearing during the day) imo and would be great for the fall. Super budget friendly and I’m on a budget grind right now so it’s perfect. Lasting power is great especially on clothing. First blush is a jammy Rose then I get a deep Oud and myrrh after a half hour or so. All in all I’m happy with it mostly because of lasting power and price.

I have been on the hunt for a masculine rose scented fragrance for ages and this is so gorgeous, very floral forward with woody backdrop. Dries down mostly rose on me so I end up layering it with another oud oil to even things out. Still very lovely

Beautiful fragrance, wish it was slightly less sweet but I'm a gourmand hater. The drydown kind of reminds me of a mosquito candle (neutral).

this smells EXACTLY like a bratz i had back in the day. i'm not sure if i'm smelling doll hair or doll clothes but it is frighteningly cozy

This is not my cup of tea, let me tell you why. I like my fragrances challenging and unisex, and rose is my favorite. Both the name (oud & rose on fire) and the categorization (genderless) don’t fit the fragrance. The rose is so buried beneath standard girly notes, it can hardly call itself a rose perfume. As the note pyramid above implicates, this isn’t a very rosy fragrance but a honey perfume. Opens with a strong powder tone and a cozy vibe. Smells like a designer perfume, like Lancôme, specifically. Now, for the price point of $30, that’s great. But if you’re into niche perfumery, this one disappoints. I’m trying to let it develop to see if it changes shape, but so far I just get sweet honeyed powder. Nice, inoffensive....boring. Zero edge. Update: the myrrh came out more later in development, bringing to mind Rien. Still, if I were going for an incense perfume I’d pick Rien over this one.

I blind bought this second hand. On principle, Dossier’s business practices lately have bothered me so I’d rather buy from someone secondhand. Anyway, I bought it so certain it would work well on my skin and that I’d love it based on the notes listed. I downplayed the honey note in my mind given all the other strong notes it contains. Sadly, honey turns to a lovely garbage-meets-roadkill smell on me. And, sadly, this fragrance is actually very honey-forward. It does dissipate after a while but it fades to mostly myrrh. I got 0 rose from this which is the note I was most excited it’s about. I am a sucker for rose anything and always have been. Anyway, it reminds me of one of my current nursing home patients - he drenches himself in cologne that smells like incense. I can’t not think of him when I wear this 😞 I’m hoping my nose evolves over time and I can enjoy this, but I can’t yet.

Smells like a red-hot cinnamon to me, which cinnamon isn't a note so maybe it's the pepper?? Idk I'm newer to fragrance. Very warm, almost burns your nose a little, but not in a bad way, just maybe in a way that would be too much in a warmer season. This would be a good, intense, winter evening, scent. Not really getting a ton of rose, and if I do it's more dried rose petals. There is a strong woody base with hints of vanilla that isn't super feminine. There is a detectable patchouli note, which makes this remind me of a crystal shop run by and odd older woman out of her house. Not bad, but not for me.

Very easy on the budget, projects well, and lasts forever. The scent definitely reads winter and fall and offers a sexy, moody, darkness. You can wear it with black lipstick kind of scent. Negatives: I didn't like the pear note with the oud, it only strengthens that cloying barnyard scent oud tends to get. Other than that it's exactly what it reads simply Oud and Rose but I found to lacking enough complexity. I think mixing it with another fragrance would really bring out its appealing aspects. I gave the sample to a friend and they love it and they're planning on mixing it with a musky incense fragrance.

I liked how this one opens but dear god, the heart of this one is the most soapy chemical rose smell that almost makes you nauseous. Legit had to wash it off my skin because the rose was too overwhelming.

I got to try this in store. It’s very light which I like. The oud is not loud and doesn’t take over the fragrance. On the initial spray,reminds me of way less sweeter then the kingdom, After letting it dry down and sit, it does smell like a bratz doll. (As someone mentioned lol)
