Fireside Bourbon Cologne

A beautiful Fall/Winter masculine fragrance. Don't be fooled by the "immature soap brand" this is a good cologne for anyone under 40. It does not smell like a cheap locker room. It's a sweet, boozy, campfire scent. It opens with a large burst of cloves & cinnamon in a sweet way, then you smell the rich, sweet & spicy bourbon / rum scent while the patchouli and cedar warmly sit in the background, it is not patchouli heavy, and despite geranium it is not floral at all. I also get a hint of orange. It has sort of a Cola vibe to it, like a Cap'n & Cola drink with cloves sitting next to your cup. Someone below said animalic, not at all. It's also not smokey at all, (I don't like smoky fragrances). It is warm, sweet and spicy. This is a very nostalgic and thus emotional scent to me. When I smell it I'm transported back to being a kid sitting by the fire on a cold night at some random state park while my dad pitches a tent and my grandpa feeds the fire. The downsides: price and longevity. The price is too high from this brand and especially with a 1.7fl oz bottle being the only option. Samples aren't sold. I wouldn't have a problem with this though if the scent lasted longer. I get a couple hours of longevity and silage on skin maybe 3-4, though more time on clothes but the scent fades quickly and becomes a bit of a sweeter version of itself. This is a 6-10 spray fragrance from a 1.7fl oz bottle. 2-3 sprays will get you nowhere. However, this is an all-natural fragrance, so I do find this forgivable for that reason. With that being said, it is still my favorite fragrance to date and the fragrance that is leading me on a search to find a designer or niche cologne that smells just like this with proper longevity. I could smell this stuff for hours, always smelling my wrists and reapplying at home just because I love it so much. Take this with you on your next camping or cabin trip and you'll blend right in. Overall: the best Dr. Squatch fragrance (I own them all, even the LE) Scent 100/100 Longevity 50/100 Sillage 60/100 Gender - Male Season - Winter / Fall Time of Day - Night or a cold day PS- If you are a fan of Dr. Squatch' Wood Barrel Bourbon scent I have no doubt you'll love this. While they are NOT the same scent, they complement each other beautifully. Wood Barrel Bourbon has a full line of men's products in its scent and using those with this cologne as a finishing touch is perfection and assists with the overall longevity. The cologne is sweeter with more spice but very similar DNA. Update- I tried REPLICA in hopes of finding this scent in a cologne that'll last longer and while yes they are...similar. Same TYPE of scent. They are not the same. Replica smells more real, like you're literally sitting next to a dusty fireplace and chesnuts are roasting nearby. It's also way smokier. Fireside Bourbon smells like more of a campfire than an indoor fireplace and it's more of a cologne scent, and of course with a sweet & spicy bourbon-cola esc note tying everything together instead of chesnuts. I'd say replica is worth trying but don't set your expectations too high. They aren't the same and replica isn't very wearable, maybe to a Christmas party... whereas this is a wearable cologne. Rep is also a bit more feminine than I expected and far more feminine than this but it's definitely unisex. So yeah, those are just my thoughts in case anyone, like me, is on the search for a higher quality cologne in this scent. Another Update: this does NOT smell like the atrocity that is Burberry Hero. Don't waste your time. Yet Another Update: If you love this cologne like I do, I HIGHLY recommend Invictus Victory Elixir. The dry down on that smells like this. A sweet, vanilla, ambery campfire scent and the longevity is insane compared to Squatch.

Wow, just wow. This fragrance took me by complete surprise, given the fact that I fell in love with Squatch's Wood Barrel Bourbon soap at first whiff. Before purchasing the cologne, I was surprised by the mixed opinions it received. I expected the rating of this to be at least a 4 since the soap counterpart was already a fan favorite of the Squatch catalogue, especially considering it's a cologne version, which should smell just as good, if not, even better. Upon sniffing the fragrance, I immediately thought, yup, it's just as perfect as, if not better smelling than, the soap, and afterwards, I've literally been questioning for a bit about how underrated it truly is on Fragrantica. It's just so rich and addictive, and some of my favorite designer fragrances of all time are also generally widely considered to be some of the best (such as Azzaro The Most Wanted Parfum, Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP, and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Le Parfum, for example), and this already smells better than most of those in my opinion. The performance and sillage are also better than people give it credit for, at least on my skin chemistry. It also kinda smells like the deodorant and the soap combined (which adds double the satisfaction for me), but with a slight more sweetness and booziness. The opening notes smell similar to the deodorant, and as it dries down, it smells nearly identical to the soap, if not identical, but without the soapy quality. Lastly, on the "main accords" tile, I think there should be a "sweet" note because the bar soap is already sweet enough as is, so it would make sense for that to be added for the cologne, which, as I previously stated, is a tad sweeter. Overall, an incredibly underrated, overlooked, and phenomenal fragrance that I hope receives the love it deserves soon, and hopefully, the rating of this fragrance increases because it just smells like it'd be one of the best fragrances on the market. This is a solid fragrance for the money. I would expect it to be a little less than the $60 retail, but for the type of scent it isn't bad. The bourbon is apparent at the first spray and reminds me of a few others like Luna Rosa Black or vaguely like TF Noir Extreme. It isn't labled as an Aromatic Fougere, but it does give those vibes. I like geranium, but I can't pick up on that note. I'd buy this if you like to smell like a freshly opened of Bourbon while watching a fire in a log cabin. Really good. I'd give it 4/5, but the rating should be higher than the current rating.

I really like this cologne. It smells very smoky and nice, kinda sweet as well. It works perfectly in the fall/winter. It also lasts a while, my girlfriend said she could smell it on me for the majority of the day.

don’t understand the bad rating this a extremely solid woody, bourbon subtly spicy and fresh fire smelling cologne but you do need to put 3-5 sprays to smell anything and it’s a bit overpriced imo 🤷🏻♂️

This fragrance deserves a much higher rating, I have never met anyone who has disliked this and it smells alluring.This is also something I find people want to get closer to to smell.

A smoky, woody and boozy yet sweet scent which i enjoy! Although i wish the Dr. Squatch colognes were edp, this edc lasts on me maybe 4-5 hours with like an hour of sillage.

Woody, boozy, patchouli. I personally enjoy it. On my skin and clothes it lasts 8 hours minimum and projects for 3-5 hours.

Stark Reactor, Midnight Birch and Rainforest Mist from this brand are missing on this site

This is really, solidly decent! It's a really nice, understandable and familiar wood, but I think it's crisp. "Virginia cedarwood" is actually a type of juniper, and that's sort of what this smells of moreso than actual cedar (I know, I know...nobody likes a plant nerd but I can't help it). It's kind of astringent, but the booze adds enough sweetness to temper the blend so it isn't harsh at all. Why is nothing like bourbon actually listed here in the notes? Who knows...but it smells true enough to it's name. I do agree that this is somehwt overpriced, but if you were to find some at Ross or whatnot it's worth picking up.

Absolute beast fragrance, can smell it on my wrist after a shower the next day. Intensity wise, it’s phenomenal when you are passing by, however, if you are sitting for a while and can directly smell it, it’s fairly headache inducing. It does smell like how your clothes smell after a bonfire, however it’s amplified with a sweetness and artificial spice. As long as you are not in a close room for long amounts of time easily a great pickup Cheapie 8/10

When i got this, i was suprised how nice it smelled. Its a woody, sweet-boozy smell. I got around 4-5 hours on this with projection about a foot away with 4 sprays, and then with the last 2 hours the projection lowers to a few inches away from my skin. Honestly 7/10, would recommend to guys who enjoy boozy or woody fragrances. Should be cheaper though.

Really don't understand the hate for this fragrance. Not a crazy performer but not terrible, very masculine with a nice woody smell and a slight animalic undertone. Way overpriced from Dr. Squatch though, should only buy if it's in a gift package with their other products, which are spectacular.

my freind has this and it smells very good, I prefer this to by the fireplace due to how sweet that fragrance is. I smelt this on my freind and would probably give it a solid 8/10

The lack of alcohol in the fragrance definitely shows. It is quite weak, little sillage and after 1 hour it fades away. It smells nice, exactly like their wood barrel bourbon soap & deodorant. You will need to overspray this cologne which for the price is a huge shame. Only pick it up if you are in love with their Wood Barrel Bourbon line, and buy it on sale for no more than 30$ per bottle (they usually run big discounts).

Only comments ive gotten are 1. My mom saying "You smell good" 2. "It smells like gasoline in here" Cant tell if I like it or not. have had it for a while. Meh..? Sorry Squatch, love your products but this one is pretty mid.

It does resemble their Wood Barrel Bourbon scent a bit, but that doesn't save it. It's a weak, muted shower gel scent with tones of wood and warm amber. Meh. Stick with a real perfume house and not a brand marketing toward soap fans.

This is the worst performing fragrance I’ve ever owned. Smells good, but for all of 2 minutes before the smell is gone unless you have the bottle shoved up your nose. Dr squatch has good marketing. That’s it. Don’t waste your money on this crap.

I really want to try this but it appears to be overpriced. Maybe if this was about $20 cheaper I would bite, but not for $60 plus taxes.
