Arlington Cologne

Trying the aftershave. Bright smooth natural citrus, open and transparent, nice soft woody drydown. Very pleasant. Love it. Pretty weak but nice for a quick pick me up. Similar vibe but different scent than 4711 which is much more neroli dominant and sharper and more floral. Scent: 7.5 / Sillage: 5 / Longevity: 5 Edit (7/17/2024): Revisiting this after 2 years of neglect and man...it's nice. All the previous descriptors still apply but I'd add a hint of English gentlemanly powderiness and lavender. And a splash of methol to cool the skin after a shave. Doesn't last but brilliant. Scent: 8-8.5 / Sillage: 4 / Longevity: 4 Edit (7/26/2024): D.R. Harris Pink Aftershave review...there's no listing so putting it here. Very soft faint notes...there's something there but not sure what. Doesn't last long because there's not much of a note to begin with. Vague floral or citrus scent but hardly noticeable. Not much bite or cooling either, tho nice enough post shave feel. It's ok...nothing I'd ever consider buying.

I found this to be a great fragrance. I have caught myself so often trying to catch a sniff of it mid-day just to find my happy place. Scent profile is right, opens with a lemon drop-like scent of citrus and dries down to a very light fern profile. It's a great light scent but if you want to stand out more than skin close, it's worth going to something heavier. I still have never come across anything similar to it so I'll keep buying Arlington.

D.R. Harris Arlington is proof that a great fragrance for men doesn't have to be overly expensive or complicated. This has only two notes, but those two notes are extremely well blended and the performance is very good on my skin. It isn't going to win awards for complexity, but this is the perfect scent to apply on a very hot and humid day. A fragrance that I will keep in my collection for a long time to come.

Follow up review after I picked up another fragrance deadly close to this. Compare this to Tom Ford Neroli Portofino! Dead ringer. I find NP smells a bit better but Arlington lasts longer. Both are great light citrus fern scents. Arlington is a better deal IMO but I'll keep both in the collection.

A light citrus and fern aroma with a bit of "musk like" finish you will enjoy without doubt. A classy scent suited for any occasion!

I wanted a classic English fragrance to add to my collection. I was shocked when I put this on. I smelled like a tooty-fruity lemon drop. Fortunately, it settles down. It is a very pleasant scent that stays close, but lasts all day. Not a bold or complex choice, but it performs its role just fine. Update: I have found that it disappears very quickly, perhaps that is the result of wearing it in cooler weather.

This is a classic men's fragrance. The opening is energizing, but it dries down to a soft fragrance. That wears close to the skin, but is not weak. The sent lasts most of the day. Very appropriate for work. This sent is for those of us over thirty (or if you are looking for a mature confident fragrance). It is a great finishing touch to a mornings shave.

It's a VERY LIGHT lemon candy scent that morphs into an even lighter green scent. There's nothing really to dislike but it's so very light why even bother...

Nice, fresh, natural barbershop scent. Pleasant aftershave vibe. Poor longevity for daily wear, it's a cologne. Doesnt really worth the price imo.

You have to love neroli to like this. This is a neroli bomb. Stylish, fresh, gentlemanly, utterly British. I like it!

Very tart opening of citrus and acidic green notes. Stays fizzing and acidic for a surprisingly long time, and the same effect sticks to clothes, as I've dabbed it on my chest and back and neck. Good, in the way that it does provide freshness for a good 5h, staying very linear so I suppose if you don't expect anything more it works very well. Fresh and masculine, as simple as that. Having said that it's simple, if I wanted depth I would layer this with something equally simple and linear like D.R. Harris' Marlborough, that's a wood only cologne. Two simple ones might create a more interesting combo w/o going too complex. As I own both I've tried it a couple times and at least it's not weird. And with layering you can always play with the measures. Haha, smelling this from the bottle has so much that reminds me of 4711 Original Eau de Cologne (also have). Less flowers, much more acidity on the skin though...

If you ever happen to visit Naples, Italy, in Easter or Christmas time, try our typical festive cake called Pastiera, you'll be surprised to discover how close to that Arlington smells. And that's mainly because Pastiera is made with orange blossom and flowers flavourings! I love both the cake and the Arlington line ;-) I sprayed the cologne from the St. James D.R. Harris shop today and I have to say to be a cologne it's intense and durable enough! The most pleasant fresh citrus cologne I've tried so far, sooo much better than Eau Sauvage and I preferred it even to Acqua di Parma Colonia. I also have the Arlington shaving cream and the aftershave. The shaving cream makes me hungry for Pastiera, just love it! The aftershave is a bit to strong on the citrus note and less balanced than the cream and the cologne, and I have to say it doesn't have the same refreshing effect of my Floid and Proraso aftershaves. I should have actually bought the cologne, which I will definitely do soon!

I purchased this blind upon reliable recommendation, choosing a spray atomizer as it has always been a preference. However, when it arrived, the seller erroneously sent a splash. At first, I was disappointed and was going to ask that they send a spray instead. However, on a whim, I gave the bottle a splash on my skin. A splash. To start off this sweltering 90 degree June day. Then I realized something...there is something sort of refreshing about this application, and it seems just right for Arlington. Simple, unadorned but well-blended citrus and orange blossom with green undertones: sort of a citrus cologne with a dash of fougere in the dry down. Flawless, and meant to be splashed for invigoration. What a lovely treat.

I know the words "gentleman" and "aristocratic" and "classic" are thrown around to describe Arlington. Perhaps it is all those things. But have you ever been to a florist? I spent time in a florist quite often as a boy because my mom worked in one. I remember the smell vividly. That's what Arlington smells like, as if you squeezed an orange on top of a flower arrangement. Flowers, greenery, and an orangey background. Some guys might love the sound of that...but it's definitely not my thing.
