Camomille Satin

Honestly (And I don't say this lightly), this very well might be one of my favourite Vanilla's I've ever experienced in a fragrance to date, surprisingly a little complex, and it has one of the best wearing experiences I've had with a fragrance as of recent. On my skin it opens up with a blast of Chamomile, a honey-like nuance that vaguely reminds me of Naxos's honey but much softer, airy and syrupy in this, and soft but understated Lavender, along with some other florals I can't pinpoint, and this is where most people probably will quit on this fragrance since a large number of people sadly quit after the opening if it isn't to their liking which is understandable to an extent. However, after the Lavender starts to go into the back, and the Vanilla comes out with its accomplices of Orange Blossoms and some musks, that's where the scent truly shines. Once it settles down you get this beautiful, creamy and RICH vanilla, Imagine the Vanilla from Nishane Ani or Ani X, isolate it, and then put it in this fragrance, that's what the Vanilla is like in this on my skin, only it sits a little closer to the skin, whereas Ani's vanilla is much more potent, and it's so goddamn addicting and indulgent, ontop of that, the chamomile from the opening and namesake seamlessly merges with the Vanilla to give it a slightly herbal nuance and adds even more decadent richness and denseness, Which is further amplified by the honey nuance i got on my skin that unifies with the chamomile to become borderline intoxicating. And it also weirdly enough gives this fragrance a very calming and therapeutic feeling when I get wafts of it, very much like drinking a nice cup of Chamomile tea, albeit with a dash of honey and Vanilla beans next to the cup, which caught me quite off guard. The Lavender from the opening is still very much here too, and adds a subtle but noticeable softness without being in your face or overdone like many modern fragrances seem to do, and this is further cemented by the nice orange blossom that adds further softeners and a slight airiness to its composition, and finally its all wrapped up in nice muted musks that add texture to the dense and rich Vanilla more than anything on my skin, but its a nuance that greatly enhances the experience nonetheless. In terms of longevity i get an impressive 8-9 hours, and im still smelling remnants of the Vanilla and Chamomile 12-13 hours later, its also medium projecting for around 4-5 or so hours and then tapers down to a more intimate scent, but one thing is that this fragrances density also extends to its scent bubble, my skin absorbs and projects dense fragrances very well and this is no different, as this fragrance gives an absolutely beautiful scent trail and a bubble big enough to grab the attention of a passer-by or person within arms reach without oppressing them or filling a room. Perfect for any day casual or formal outside of hot days but evenings are doable, its a little too decadent for humidity or heat in general in my opinion, leans Perfectly unisex as well, I cant see any aspects of this leaning either way, might be a case like Ani, where its perfectly unisex, but women seem to like smelling it more than men do (if that makes sense?🗿) In conclusion, this is one of the best fragrance discoveries I've made all year as I onky discovered it a few days ago and upon testing it I was pleasantly surprised to the highest degree, and like Soie Malaquais, im definitely going to get a full bottle down the line (even if the price is sadly quite steep in my country), but it's worth it in my opinion, spend more less often to get more out of what you love, rather than spending less more often, to satisfy a short term like or fascination🫡 Beautifully made, indulgently addictive, creative, unique, and timeless, having to choose between this or Soie Malaquais is a crime 😂, but I think they're both at the pinnacle in their own ways, suberb work by Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain, needs more traction but at the same time I want this beauty gatekept! 10/10

I want to say some words more about this beautiful perfume before I will buy a full bottle of it. I just finished my sample. I have worn this something like 12-15 times for now. First of all this scent is harmonious in a calming way. Aromatic Lavender, which is a difficult note for me, is pleasant and suitably soft and delicate and the other difficult note, herbal chamomile, is also gentle, refined, and not at all aggressive and dominating, which it can be in many fragrances. A few fragrances where I like lavender are Alexandria III | Xerjoff , Après L'Ondée | Guerlain, Libre | Yves Saint Laurent and a few where I like Chamomile are Soleil de Jeddah | Stéphane Humbert Lucas, Soleil de Jeddah Afterglow | Stéphane Humbert Lucas and Risqué / Creation-R (Parfum) | Roja Parfums. I don't like lavender for example in the opening of Musc Ravageur | Frédéric Malle and I don't like Chamomile in Soleil de Jeddah Mango Kiss | Stéphane Humbert Lucas. Both Lavender and Chamomile get their satiny softness from Vanilla, which is clearly the main character of this scent. Camomille Satin is definitely an herbal vanilla scent. Petigrain is conveniently hidden, as I find it easily makes the scent sharp by introducing an uncomfortable green citrus aroma. Orange Blossom is also very mild and Rose is more of a support for the structure and tying the notes together than giving the scent of petals. Musk finishes the scent off as sensual and elegant, but comforting, relaxing and cozy. It's special that this fragrance has many notes, which can be sharp, challenging, or bitter, but all have been successfully finished to be silky soft and gentle, including Galbanum. It's slightly creamy with a powdery finish, but not too thick and not heavy at all. That's why it's suitable also for summertime, especially for summer evenings. I think the scent is unisex. The scent is simple, there's nothing shockingly special about it, but it still has a unique feel to it. The scent is more suitable for home and leisure, as it doesn't provide energy for work, for example. On the other hand, it has a clearly calming effect, which I would imagine would be suitable for a psychiatrist's work. The scent is quite intimate, although long-lasting, and therefore suitable for that kind of work environment. Thank you for reading, I hope my review was helpful. This is just gorgeous, inside and out. An ultra feminine, silky floral with gourmand overtones. The chamomile is prominent from the opening notes, weaving its syrupy aroma with a tinge of herbaceous bitterness throughout the sillage. The syrupy texture is honeyed and clear, reminding me of the unctuous opening in Tilia, made soothing by the hint of smooth, aromatic lavender. It’s definitely sweet, but in a refined, non-confectionery way. I’m also getting a spattering of soft floral spice that gives the scent an edge without overpowering the senses. The whole composition is strikingly harmonious, truly resembling a swath of cool satin sliding against skin. Now, I’ve worn this scent during LA heatwave, and it came through as refreshing and cooling, the chamomile alternating between its honeyed, herbaceous and powdery facets. The honey aspect is beautiful and clean and smells like a summer meadow in bloom—natural and intoxicating all at the same time. As it dries down, I get sweet, liqueur rose and powdery orange blossom, blended so seamlessly, the accord registers not as distinct florals but simply as something nectarous and alluring. There’s a slight carnal tinge to the orange blossom and that makes the scent both sensual and seductive. Passers by seem to agree as I’m getting loads of compliments every time I wear this out. In the short time, Chamomile Satin has completely stolen my heart and I feel it’ll become a cult favorite with the Tilia and Secret Du Nil—loving crowd. I smell a lot of perfumes via regular trips to London to sniff what's new, as well as buying samples frequently. So it's not often now I smell something I would call unique. But here it is! I went on a perfume sniffing trip earlier this week and this one and Vanille Camouflage were at the top of my list to try. On first impression, the blast of herbal notes are unusual. Initially I wasn't sure if I liked them, but they mellow very quickly, and after spritzing on skin, 15 minutes in I was left with what I can only call a vanillic floral honeyed sweetness - it smelt like warm autumn days, giving me images of golden hour in a field that is aged by the sun with the grass all dried out, surrounded by hay bales. The dry down is really delicious, not overtly gourmand but definitely hinting at that. I find this to be the Soie Malaquais of this recent release - both manage to be almost mass appealing, yet different from any other releases, and also blended so that most of the notes are hard for me to really pick out or identify - they just become their own fully imagined composition. I went back and bought a bottle, and on my first full wearing today I am in heaven. I am 6.5 hours in and am still getting gorgeous wafts of that almost brown sugar vanilla vibe, but with a cereal(perhaps oat?)-tinged freshness and airiness that means it isn't overbearing. I am in love! Perfect for the cool crisp sunny weather today.

I fell in love with this fragrance three times. First, when I saw the bottle. Second, when I sprayed on a paper strip. Third, when I sprayed on skin. This is such a great fragrance. The opening is awesome with a very noticeable camomille note, the fragrance has a herbal floral side which lasts quite a bit before letting the vanilla completely shine. The vanilla here is super high quality. It's creamy, very comforting. The fragrance overall is like a cloud of comfort. It's very unique but not shockingly surprising or anything. It's unique enough to definitely be niche, but not unique enough to be super daring or polarizing. It's just an overall super well made fragrance and the bottle is just stunning. Performance is very good. On my skin it lasts forever, the projection isn't big at all but the scent bubble is more than enough for you to enjoy it. On my skin this is pretty heavy, I wore it today in a spring like temperature and it was too much, I could only wear that in colder months. Price is worth it honestly for what you get. This is 100% unisex, I'm struggling to understand why so many people vote for it being feminine. Either it's because mostly women try these perfumes or because of skin chemistry ? Anyway there's NOTHING feminine about this, if you're a guy and you're hesitant on trying it, just go ahead and try it.

Now this caught me off guard... I was always between ‘overpriced mass market slop’ and ‘gorgeous unique brand’ with dries van noten even though i never went in depth with any of their fragrances. I just received my sample of camomile satin, and im pleasantly surprised. It is a weird fragrance, very strange yet extremely likable and easygoing. I find it hard to compare to other things which is a very good thing because this perfume doesnt feel derivative and soulless (based on my mental archive of scents) Slightly soapy, yet textured like a satin blanket. The vanilla in this is a sweet, cupcake-y vanilla (which i dont often enjoy, i prefer them more resinous and ambery). The combination of herbal and aromatic notes along with powdery soft musks creates a good contrast. It smells like a really luxurious piece of clothing. The smell itself reminds me of spring but also of a classy lady in the summertime. Simplistic but unique. Luckily its not my personal style, i think i would much rather have this as a room spray. But i am still impressed and i appreciate what this scent offers. That price is ridiculous but if you want to spend some money then i dont think it would be wasted on this. An ideal signature scent because you can wear it every day but still smell unique and defined.

Sometimes I wonder if DVN is trolling us because RARELY can I match their published notes with what I am picking up on my skin, or a blotter. On skin, I am getting an airy gourmand adjacent vanilla. It's sheer texture wise, but it gives a presence that makes you feel like it will last all day. Though not listed in the notes, there are definitely some gourmand-woody "Guerlain style" spices that are hanging out in the background as well- if you are familiar with Feve Gourmand/Gourmand Coquin or Vanilla Planifolia you'll pick up the spice recognition immediately. The chamomile is slightly medicinal and balmy which prevents this from being an overly sweet or juvenile vanilla. Like Soie, this is a genius creation. Full bottle worthy and unique. Who knows? Perhaps DVN purposefully mislists their notes, so other houses cannot copy or dupe their work. Brilliant strategy if so.. Edit -- Ahhh wrote this review on my mobile and totally glossed over Paul Guerlain Jr. being involved in Camomille Satin's creation -- the Guerlinade style spices make sense now. Bold move, will definitely be following his work now.

This has been on my wish-list for 6 months and I just had to buy it. The scent is absolutely to die for. It’s 100% unisex. I find this scent so soothing, relaxing and comforting, especially in times of high stress. It’s very grounding. Of course the bottle is stunning. I do like that you can refill this, and once you have the bottle the refills do actually work out cheaper, although it is still extortionate. I do think it’s worth it though. I never realised until now, but this actually reminds me of my Dad. He worked as a senior British Airways pilot and this reminds me of how he used to smell when he’d come home from a long haul flight in his uniform and would give me a big hug. Maybe it’s because in the 80’s up to early 2000’s, British Airways used to give passengers in club and business class a toiletry bag with a rollerball fragrance. Camomille Satin reminds me of that scent. My Dad may no longer be living, but this fragrance keeps him close to me. I can’t not have this in my collection. It’s truly beautiful ❤️

I have only had this for one day- so bear in mind that I have not tested the performance of this. BUT such a beautiful scent. I think for the upcoming fall season this is such a great scent- totally unisex, gives warm and cozy feelings. To me this is a lightly spiced vanilla musk with the florals and herbal notes lending a fresher uniqueness and keeping it from entering anything too gourmand. I can't say this reminds me of anything too closely... which makes me love it even more, unique but I don't think this would upset anyone in a public situation. The only reference scents I could give would be something along the lines of Memo Winter Palace and Floraiku Levitating mixed with a Shalimar flanker -without the strong citrus presence and much smoother. We are definitely not in the season for this at the end of August where I am- but at work in the AC it was very pleasant. I cannot wait for some cooler weather and wear this more.

I came to Dries Van Noten for Soie Malaquais, I stayed for Camomille Satin. When I have this on, I'm smelling myself constantly, like I'm a damn addict. I knew as soon as I tried it, this is top of my list for a full bottle, if I'm ever lucky enough to afford it. I'm no expert at picking out individual notes, so I tend to go by the overall scent and vibes. This is a comforting, well rounded, interesting scent. It's very vanilla dominant on me, but the longer it sits, the more herbal, complex and sophisticated I feel it gets. It feels like settling in under a cashmere blanket with a hot cup of chamomile tea after a long, cold day. Cozy and indulgent. Edit: I was lucky enough to get a full bottle for my birthday! I've noticed since that longevity it incredible. It's not huge on projection, but I can still smell vanilla on my skin a whole day after application, even without skin prep.

I think this might be my new favorite perfume! I got a decant and bought a full bottle pretty quick. For me, it’s a soft chamomile tea with a lot of vanilla in the dry down. Sometimes with lavender in perfumes, it comes off like licorice to me. I do pick up on lavender, but it’s mild and I’m glad I don’t get a ton of it. I get great longevity on skin and even longer on clothes. I think this is an easy reach, every day perfume. It reminds me so much of something, but I can’t place it, so I don’t know if it reminds me of another perfume or if it’s just nostalgic in some way. It’s comforting in a way that when someone hugs me, I want them to feel the same way. None of the perfumes that are listed as similar do it justice, but if there is an actual similar vibe one I would want to try it too because this is a pricey brand overall

This is so gorgeous. Very, very unique scent. Not a floral, not a gourmand, not strictly aromatic. To me, the chamomile is the star of this! Other reviewers said that chamomile only lasts for a very short time, but to my nose it is present throughout. Fragrance opens very sharp, almost medicinal and very herby. In just a few minutes the lavender comes through as the scent softens and becomes less medicinal, and this stage does bear resemblance to Lutens' Fourreau Noir, although Fourreau is much heavier on lavender and has no vanilla. The drydown is extremely satisfying and gentle blend of soft vanilla, hints of musk and chamomile. Creamy! Absolutely lovely fragrance! Chamomile is one of my favorite notes, and it is so rare in perfumery. An absolutely stunning and full bottle worthy for me.

Another elegant, timeless, and very textural scent from DVN. Very easy to wear. Opens with a chamomile that i do wish was a bit louder. The petitgrain sidles right up next to it at the top. A very gentle vanilla as the base. The lavender and musk flesh everything out, serving as the backbone for some time. A very smooth, close-knit blend. Not quite as complex as Id hoped, but still an easy love. I guess you could say the longevity is good- the vanilla stays for hours and hours, but the heartier notes at the top are completely lifted from the skin after only a couple of hours, and aren't we all here for the chamomile? Almost all season except scorching heat. Quite feminine. Wildly overpriced but decant worthy. Good sillage- and good longevity as far as the vanilla musk goes.

Judging by the pyramid, I thought this fragrance would be absolutely not my thing. However, fate had other plans, a lovely acquaintance of mine kindly shared a decant with me. It was unlabelled, so I had no idea what I was smelling... and then 🫠 The scent opens with a soft, cozy lavender and a gentle green bitterness, soon followed by a delicate and beautifully radiant orange blossom. The composition flows smoothly and tenderly, creating an immediate sense of comfort. The base is pure magic 🥹, warm, enveloping vanilla and soft musk. Camomille Satin is a hug in a bottle ,incredibly beautiful, soft, and full of gentle warmth. It feels like wrapping yourself in a tender embrace. Truly one of the most feminine and comforting fragrances in my collection!

Wow!! This is a stunner! The opening is very herbal with the chamomile and lavender notes but in a calming way... no sharp lavender here. Upon drying down the soft vanilla comes thru but still maintains those soothing herbal notes. Very soothing and comforting. She has some sweetness but not in a gourmand way. I’m in LOVE!! I will definitely be wearing this in the fall and winter but she can easily be worn year round! This is a high quality fragrance and I’m happy I added her to my collection along with my prized Soie Malaquais!! As far as longevity I sprayed her on at 7pm and she projected at arms length for a couple hours but lasted close to the skin for 13 hours as I could easily still smell her at 8am the next morning!

It’s like the Sun in a bottle. Amazing, warm, rich, and incredibly cozy. I first discovered this fragrance during my very first trip to Paris. I sprayed two perfumes on blotters, and this one immediately stood out — it was truly astonishing and stayed with me for more than 12 hours. I only had one day to decide, and in the end I chose another scent with notes that felt more familiar to me. I never regretted that choice, but I couldn’t forget Camomile Satin for almost a month. Now I’m a happy owner of two incredible fragrances from this brand, and I can’t go a single day without feeling Camomile Satin on my skin.

My new obsession- lovely, opulent vanilla with a touch of camomile sweet tea. I absolutely love it on me. It turns into a sweet and cozy powdery veil around me. Longevity is about 6 hr and projection at arms length. Very smooth composition of scents. However, beware of body chemistry- my friend smelt this on me and screamed "let me try, this is gorgeous "- on her it was medicinal. As she described it - the scent of Bengay cream. She was disappointed. So, I'm smugly keeping this beauty without my friend copying me. I will be exploring Fleur du Mal, Santal Greenery and Vanille Camouflage.

My initial reaction was to scrub this off immediately. However, I mistakenly grabbed my decant the next day thinking it was something else and absolutely doused myself in it. To my surprise, I loved it the 2nd time around! What might be the lavendar and chamomile hits me hard in the opening and gives me a dense medicinal vibe. This was the initial turn-off for me, but the opening blast fades quickly into a stunningly smooth and refined vanilla forward fragrance. Longevity is 7-8 hours w/modest projection on my skin. The only problem with it now is that I don't have a FB!

This was one that I took a chance on and purchased without sampling first. Fortunately, it was a love at first sniff! It is cozy, yet sophisticated at the same time. It could definitely be a signature scent for someone. While it definitely has some sweetness, this is not a sugary vanilla. If you only like gourmand style vanillas, this may not be for you. It has a high quality vanilla that I smell in other expensive vanillas in my collection, though. It gives a nice scent bubble that I enjoy. It is also unique without being too unusual.
