Jardin de L'Orangerie

I got this scent from a Mecca Level 4 Beauty Box sampler and I have to say, it is GORGEOUS! It is such a unique orange blossom scent and is softly sweet, feminine and romantic smelling. It is also not too sweet and it is white floral without being indolic, so those just dipping their toes into white floral fragrances might like this scent. I can smell all of the notes in this, starting with the zesty neroli in the top notes, which quickly leads onto the sweet scent of jasmine and a hint of buttery ylang ylang. The orange blossom is most prominent to me though and is a very natural smelling orange blossom note, both slightly zesty and very floral at the same time without being overwhelming. The milk gives an interesting twist and a nice and warm creaminess to the composition, almost like a lightly sweet orange blossom infused cake from Morrocco! The sandalwood then grounds this fragrance, but I only smell it very slightly, which is good since I am not a fan of woody fragrances. I got moderate projection from this fragrance and an average wear time of about 5 hours on my skin. I think that it would work both during the spring and the summer seasons and that it makes a nice daytime fragrance. The bottle of the scent is super pretty too and I love the pink and orange color-way. I'd give Jardin de L'orangerie an 8.5/10 for all of the above reasons and I am definitely going to buy it now! It is certainly not like other perfumes.

I thought, since I had two beautiful crowdpleasing orangeblossoms in my collection, I was done. Wrong. This has to be to most beautiful orangeblossom fragrance i have ever smelled. And i'm not easily impressed. Most of them feel a bit boring (one note frag) or too much going on, told you i'm fussy, lol. This opens up with a lightly sweetened clean fluffy orangeblossom. The neroli is not obvious but it's there for a minute. Then comes the creamyness and the ylang ylang. It is just so beautiful. Nothing is out of balance. The ylang ylang, although quite noticable, is there to support, and give it body along with the creamyness of the milk. The woodyness comes to play in the drydown. It is also very very clean which i love. No stinky ambrofix base. Very impressed. This does gives me suntanlotion vibes but in the best way. Think Soleil Blanc vibes (the best in that category if you ask me) mixed with a prominent orangeblossom. This is very rounded. No spikyness, no rough edges. Love. It's not a beast though, it's very soft and it's quite shortlived on skin. I only have a sample vial sprayer so i'm sure when using it more generously it will have more presence. The price is up there, lol. I'm a huge fan of DVN lipsticks, he sure knows quality. Anyway, soft performer or not, this goes on my wishlist. I love it.

This is Florida or the French Riviera in a bottle — truly. The moment it hits my skin, I’m transported to those early mornings when you step outside and the air is still thick and creamy from the night before. There’s that soft floral haze, the warmth of sun‐kissed skin, and the quiet promise of a beautiful day. It feels refined, elegant, and deeply emotional in a way I didn’t expect. The orange blossom and neroli are gorgeous — honest, authentic, and so beautifully done they literally moved me to tears. This fragrance is a memory hopper for me... it transports. It feels tropical, but in the most subtle, natural way. Nothing loud, nothing artificial — just the real scent of blossoms drifting through warm air. And yes, the milk note. That creamy, sun‐lotion softness that reminds me of heading to the beach through wild orange blossom and jasmine bushes. It’s rich, but never heavy. It’s soft, but never flat. It’s the good part of sunscreen — the nostalgic, warm, comforting part — wrapped in flowers and light. It’s gorgeous. It’s authentic. It’s emotional. And it’s absolutely an overspray situation because the softness makes you want to live inside it. Jardin is sunshine, memory, and quiet luxury — all in one breath.

So, I have recently gone through over a dozen full bottle, blind-purchases and/or generous decants to locate my best orange-blossom centered fragrance. What is perfect for me may not be perfect for others. This is my second full-bottle, full-price DVN perfume. Soie Malaquais being the first DVN perfume I purchased. As an aside, Soie Malaquais is a complete love for me. Given the price-point, I was very reluctant to blind-purchase Jardin de L'Orangerie. This perfume. Jardin de L'Orangerie. This is it. If you can afford the purchase price, look no further for the most perfectly blended, most perfectly executed, most gloriously performing orange blossom fragrance, bar none. Opens with a beautiful, non-bitter neroli evidencing the leaves, stems & blossoms. Morphs into an orange blossom, jasmine, ylang-ylang fragrance with all the florals perfectly blended. The base is creamy, silky, smooth, milky-lactonic, orange woods with continued hints of neroli, yang-ylang and jasmine. The notes are blended to perfection. The way the perfume lifts off the skin is magical. Ecstasy in a bottle.

When I first sprayed this one from the discovery set on a paper strip, I set it down immediately because of the very flowery opening, since I'm not a flowery perfume gal. But when I came back to smell all the test strips after about 20 mins, it surprised me with a very soft and sweet drydown. I then sprayed it on my arm, got that opening burst of jasmine and ylang-ylang, but in a few minutes those notes settled down and only the comforting, milky, undescribably sweet and happy scent lingered. For HOURS. I sprayed it again the next day for a 14-hr shift and kept getting whiffs of it throughout the day, all the way until I got back home. Bit the bullet and purchased the full bottle with the Bergdorf Goodman online welcome discount. I'm addicted and want to smell it all day long. Downside: no one around me could smell it, even when I asked my coworkers who usually comment on my fragrances, so it's very much a personal bubble of enjoyment. Work safe!

A delicate but non-cloying orange blossom that’s nicely grounded by a sultry, woody santal and deepened with a milkiness that is utterly lovely. I’ve been layering with the lightest touch of DVN Rock the Myrrh for an effect that is mind blowing. Mwah! Note: I finally got the full size, and I have to say, one thing seriously disappoints: there is no box! As many of us know, perfume loves a dark cool environment and will live longer in the box it came in. This came in a throwaway cardboard coffin that can’t be used for that purpose— so the perfume won’t last as long; or you have the expense of buying a new home for it. This makes me kinda mad, ‘cause the stuff ain’t cheap! Why did they skimp on this??? Note: oh I see from their literature that the packaging is environmentally conscious, and now I feel bad. Still— where are you going to store your perfume? Not a solution— yet.

So many beautiful reviews already written for Jardin de L’Orangerie, but this perfume is so gorgeous it deserves some more praise. Imagine a woman who is effortlessly beautiful, she’s wearing a linen sheath dress, picking flowers with her children. It’s a warm summer day, you can hear the waves from the sea and birds singing to each other. That is the imagery this perfume evokes for me. It opens up with a gentle burst of neroli, and gently transitions into a creamy orange blossom. The sandalwood is creamy and grounds the orange blossoms. This perfume never yells, is never screechy, it is magnificently effortless. It wears so sweetly on my skin, never trying to hard to be anything but chic, lovely, natural. If you are a fan of orange blossoms this is a must try. It’s not super original, but it is alluring and different enough that it leaves an impression.

Disagree with people who compare this one to Memo Sintra; this one is more creamy floral without the very characteristic green/zesty neroli bite in Sintra. This one has rapidly become my favorite fragrance in my collection for its complex simplicity. Think a cloud of fragrant orange blossom, sandalwood and creamy milk. Nothing sweet about it, nothing zesty or citrusy about it, more woody, floral and creamy. I would go as far as to say that it smells like a different take on earl grey tea with milk even though no tea/bergamot notes, it just evokes the same feeling/feels like it’s in the same family as that. Not for everyone but definitely for me ❤️

i’m in love. 🍋🍨🌸 based on the notes, i thought this would be a simple citrus-floral fragrance that normally don’t gravitate towards. they are usually sharp and a little dish-soapy on my skin. however in jardin de l’orangerie i can definitely get the milky, sweet florals with a little citrus on top that fades away pretty quickly. this to me is eating lemon gelato while walking in a street full of flowers during summer, even though this is not a gourmand fragrance at all. not full bottle worthy as it is very pricey, but i will definitely get a 10 ml bottle along with soie malaquais.

Honestly, I really love this. It’s simple, yes, but it is also so clean and elegant. I typically find orange blossom perfumes with citrus (typical — almost all neroli based scents are paired with this) or fruity (M Micallef 20 Years), or vanilla (Kilian Love Don’t be Shy/Roja reckless/PDM Oriana), strong florals (again, common — Amouage Honour Woman, etc). This is the first time I’ve enjoyed an orange blossom soliflore with milky undertones. It’s understated but beautiful. The musk is so clean that it enhances the white flower so beautifully without being sickly.

I can’t get enough of this fragrance this summer. I keep going for this one even though I have so many other great summer fragrances to choose from. The most creamy orange blossom fragrance. I’m not sure if it’s also because of the heat, but it reminds me of the wafting of orange blossom and tropical flowers in the air while wearing sunscreen - it has a sunscreeny feeling for me. Maybe it’s because of the heat and creamy notes in it. Either way, I absolutely adore this fragrance. If you love orange blossom, you have to try out this one. It’s one of the best.

Jardin de l’Orangerie is a fluffy dream—and this comes from someone who usually doesn’t gravitate toward orange blossom! It opens soft, warm, and golden—neroli and orange blossom like petals in morning sun. Then it melts into creamy swirls of ylang ylang, orange blossom milk, and a hint of sandalwood. It reminds me of marshmallows kissed by sunlight—gentle, comforting, and quietly joyful. A big love! Such a beautiful fragrance and so well blended. The sweetness from orange blossom gets a lift of freshness from the neroli. As the Ylang-ylang adds a bit of a tropical vibe that lingers softly in the background and the sandalwood adds to the overall creaminess of the composition. It really is lovely but I don’t particularly think it’s worth retail price. If you get your nose on it & love it, try to find it for a lesser price.

Definitely the best neroli/orange blossom fragrance I've come across! Not at all cloying (I'm looking at you LDBS. lol), and the sandalwood in this is what I've always wanted that note to be. I am getting the milk note adding the softness/cream which balances sandalwood so well. I wouldn't call this novel by any means since there's many comparisons to be made, but Jardin is.. quietly the most put together in the room.

A stunningly creamy white floral, neroli & orange blossom forward. Ylang-ylang with its lactone / banana scent & sandalwood gives this a lot of similarities to Guerlain's Embruns d'Ylang ... just a bit more citrus-blossom heavy. It's really quite beautiful, and the quality is there. Full bottle worthy? Perhaps, when I decide the cost makes sense... until then, my samples.

A very beautiful scent. Very unique. A smooth, warm, orange scent, on a lactonic base, without being too milky. It’s thick yet lightweight at the same time. The Pepperiness of the jasmine is very subtle, just lending a tiny hint of hidden complexity. Ingredients are high quality. Nothing artificial felt. Full bottle worthy and signature scent material.

This scent is pure magic. Not inexpensive and more close to skin but the combination of orange blossom and santal is mind-blowing to me. It has nothing in common with other 'summery' scents, such as Tom Ford's Eau de Soleil Blanc. The sunscreen element is lacking - in a good way. It's creamy, sweet, citrusy and woody - but also light and inoffensive.

Just an uber classy, simple, sweet, sparkly white floral. As a devotee of this genre, I love it. It is really, really well made, although not at all unique or innovative. Much smoother and not as sharp as Sintra, slightly stronger and denser than Histoire D'Orangers, not as sweet as Love Don't Be Shy. An absolutely perfect Orange Blossom fragrance.

My friend says that this is "Orange Julius" and I think that's a brilliant description. It's an elevated, milky, orangey Orange Julius circa 1995 and it's gorgeous. My nose picks up every single note listed here, and it just works. Great longevity, too. This has its own place in my large collection of neroli and orange blossom scents.

Ooooohhhh this is the yummiest orange blossom!!!!! Rich and creamy, a little tropical from the Ylang Ylang, and soooo intoxicating. After Soie Malaquais, the second in the range I need a full bottle STAT! I’m not typically into super feminine fragrances but these two are just THAT good.

Out of this world beautiful. If Fleurs D'Oranger and Love Don't Be Shy had a baby this could be the result. Ethereal yet long lasting, juicy yet creamy, this is a perfect summer perfume.

Orange blossom that doesn't smell boring. I really like this one and I have to say I'm loving all Dries Van Noten fragrances so far.

Ultra feminine, floral and creamy. Did not expect to love this but this was the first full bottle I got from Dries Van Notes.

Apart from Soie Malaquais, Jardin de L'Orangerie was the other scent from the Dries van Noten fragrance line that I took note of enjoying when I smelled them shortly after their debut at the flagship. I subsequently asked for a sample of both when I ordered a lipstick refill. However, this doesn't feel like the total unicorn that Soie Malaquais is. Jardin de L'Orangerie is more masterfully crafted than it's competition, but I would say you could get a very similar scent profile from Gucci's Bloom Profumo Di Fiori for a third of the price. This has a more enticing sweet-lactonic thing going for it, but at $300 for 100ml, there are very similar white floral/ylang ylang perfumes elsewhere. In Dries van Noten's defense, their longevity and sillage is pretty uncontested.

Creamy, whipped orange fluff. The neroli in this is juicy, fresh and bright orange, with all of its harsher greener edges sanded smooth. It is complemented by an orange blossom that has had ylang ylang slowly stirred into it, to give it an almost taffy like quality. This stops just short of being too saccharine, and then it gets folded into a silky and milky sandalwood. I wouldn’t compare this to a garden as much as I would a dessert, but it’s a dessert that relies more on milk than sugar. And that has been mixed at high speed to create a light as air texture. Jardin de L’Orangerie has pretty good sillage for the first 2-3 hours, then it trails away into a skin scent.

I think I like this? But I’m also somehow getting both orange creamsicles and root beer floats. This is a VERY creamy orange blossom floral with a milky, lactonic quality that reminds me of the way milk is done in Blanche Bête. I’m not saying they smell alike, but the floral milky texture feels similar. I also definitely get that slightly medicinal “Band-Aid” smell, which I think my nose is interpreting as root beer. Unfortunately, this fades so quickly on me that I can barely figure out what I’m smelling before I become anosmic to it. I’m intrigued by it, but I wish it lasted long enough for me to actually decide how I feel.

It surprisingly reminds me of my childhood summerdays in the south of Portugal, when tourists were an exotic thing and smelled like tanning lotion and sweet perfumes. On the top, i smell literally sunscreen with a touch of orange blossom. As it dries down, the orange blossom gets more evident and mixes with white creamy florals and a hint of sandalwood to ground it. One of the most curious things about the fresher side of this line is that it is not fresh at all. It's summery and lively but they opted for fragrances that were more dense, sweet or even resinous. It's a nice approach that should be more explored and developed.

Very bright opening, then jumps straight to the milky, very heady orange blossom intertwined with the Ylang Ylang. I don't get the neroli at all. Makes me think of color yellow - the bottle color is on point! Unfortunately I learned the hard way that strong orange blossom scents make me nauseous, so beware it's not a safe blind buy. For reference, Love Don't Be Shy, Oriana and a few others with strong heady orange blossom/white flowers had the same effect on me. Beautiful scent nonetheless, especially if you enjoy strong orange blossom /white flowers perfumes

Childhood Summer vacation in a bottle. Firstly, i tried a 3ml of DVN discovery set, was my first to test and the first full bottle to buy- happy to know, it made to be refill. First impression: Neroli is well blended with the ylang-ylang and the jasmine has a shy apperance in this fragrance. Drydown: this phase is everything, it activates my childhood memory, milky sandlewood with an orange bloosm touch. Outfit: a maxi cotton summer dress+ a lipgloss and a tomato girlmakeup Longetivity: 5-6 hrs on my Skin and days on clothes

Lovely first few minutes and then turns extremely indolic on my skin (maybe it’s my skin idk). Same indolic smell there is in Jasmin rouge by Tom ford. Sweaty woman and not in a good way. After a while the indolic goes away and smells a lot like sunscreeny scent. And no not the same way Soleil Blanc is sunscreeny more like Jil Sander sun (not exactly the same but still familiar). Pass for me. Definitely try it on your skin if you have problem with scents going too indolic on you.

This is a delicious orange blossom creamsicle for sure. The crème de la crème of the orange blossom crop, but overall probably too white floral heavy for me. What I do love though is the transformation from the citrusy opener to the milky, balmy, ylang ylang dry down. A soft floral delight. This fragrance seriously reminds me of Marie, the little white kitten with the giant pink bow from Aristocats.

I don’t usually love orange blossom-heavy scents — I can’t stand LDBS or Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom — but this... this is something special. The neroli, which can often come across as sharp, is incredibly smooth and delicious here. This is a stunning white floral: refined, elegant, and effortlessly beautiful.

smells like a garden in summer. i like how bright it is. i tend toward powdery, gentle scents but for summer and bright weather i like to match the jubilant mood — this perfectly captures such a mood. the scent isn’t cloying despite being so sunny, and the jasmine really complements the citrus notes.

This is very nice it just strikes me as not unique at all. I wish the lactonic facet were a bit more prominent. But if you love these notes and want something beautiful and well blended and don’t need it to stand out in any specific way, then this is a great option and could be a blind buy.

damn I did not expect this to smell as c r e a m y as it did. Nowhere near as sweet as a sugary marshmallow (LDBS/Cintra) but something softer. I wanna say a orange blossom honey milk tea but I’m still not sure 😅

It's a lovely powdery sweet orange blossom. I like it but not enough to buy the bottle for this price. I think if it was stronger it would be really head ache inducing. I think it smells similar to Memo - Sintra.

I really like this beautiful milky soft neroli orange with a hint of sandalwood that keeps it from becoming overly sweet, but $300 a bottle is pretty steep. Id buy it in a travel spray size if it was available.

So rounded, sweet, sunny. Tropical beachy florals distilled into a very potent liquid. The lasting power is 12 hrs+ on my skin! In the same genre as AG Songes and maybe even more CSP:s Aloha Tiaré.

I think Andrier is a fantastic perfumer, let's just get that out of the way. I think her aesthetic is as strong as Roundnitkas or Cellier, Jean Claude Ellena....any perfume who's style really is their own. Sometimes I think she's underated as being too modern, minimal and basically just making a billion Iris perfumes, which is sort of true but also sort of missing the point. This is a new line and a venture into perfumery outside of the first which was famously with Frederic Malle, and a fragrance I own because I think it's a curious art piece, complex and challenging but also a bit too challenging as I never feel compelled to wear it. So anyway, yes this is the first I tried from the new line and although I'm not one of those folks who genders fragrance and makes a big fuss about defying the marketing to 'wear what you want' (I think that's kinda implicit) However, I still have personal boundaries as to what I consider, too feminine for me personally, and Jardin de L'Orangerie falls into that category. Very pleasant creamy, lactonic opening with a very pretty orange blossom which descends into a musky, vanilla blah. It's very nice and well made, but not for me, I prefer my orange blossoms much more on the indolic, waxy side and surrounded by something interesting to set them off, or just fresh, cologne aspects. Sandalwood and orange blossom is not a misleading description, it delivers them, but in a way that is not really my scene. (This review is based on a first impression and I was only confident enough to write this review as I've tried zillions of perfumes at this point and I'm 85% sure my opinion won't shift too much upon giving it a proper wear. Having said all that, perfume still surprises me so stay tuned for a possible update)

Upon first spray, nice sweet creamy flowers, very pleasant and soft. After approx. 40 mins, the flowers are overpowered by ylang ylang and lactonic notes, ending up in a sun-cream - gourmand, rather than a flower bouquet which was a pity for me (die hard flower lover), but will definitely please the lovers of sweeter, lactonic scents. I would say it is even better for winter, than summer. I always feel like these coconutty, egg-nogg vibes (ok i know neither of these notes are listed, but i really feel their vibe) have this warming quality, that i like in the winter especially. This scent really reminds me of Eau de Soleil Blanc. Although it's been quite long since i smelled EdSB last. But i would say the Jardin de l'Orangerie is stronger and lasts longer. I mean i have already showered, and it still lingers! So if you like this scent profile, the parameters will satisfy you too :)

Orange cream sledgehammer. I couldn’t hear the sandalwood over the white florals. On first huff wanted to chalk it up as an airy, orange blossom soliflore, but on my skin it dried into something both more lactonic leaning. (And it clung with un-blossomlike tenacity). So this one was orange grove in the streets, melting creamsicle in the sheets. Longevity: ~8h skin and greatest olfactory fidelity of the lot when sniffed a day later in fabric. Refused to budge. Mental Snapshot: it’s a cloudless summer day on the coast of Sicily and you have a gelato in hand. Only its 30C out. And the molten gelato is now lacquering your whole arm. tl;dr: If I was a bee, I’d go ham for this scent 🌸🐝

Orange comes through very strongly, Something powdery & musky sits on top of it for me, something that makes the scent smell like postwar femininity. It makes me think of mid century modern living rooms, cinched waist dresses, cocktails, glamour and daintily restrictive lives. I'd wear this to meet an upper east side professional woman for tea at The Plaza. I'd wear it to the Easter Parade on Fifth Avenue or any occasion where a visit to a milliner would be appropriate. In other words, this perfume is for a life that I don't live.
