Smells like a luxurious spa day at a 5-star hotel somewhere in paradise scent breakdown - Opens up with juicy, green, sweet fig, the edges and holes filled with bright citrus, like grapefruit and bergamot. As it begins to dry down, the greenness is bolstered with green, ozonic, and slightly powdery violet notes, resting upon a slightly creamy, wood shaving-like sandalwood base. In the deep, dry down, the creamy facets of the fig and sandalwood mix together to form a lovely, comfortingly refreshing end. personal thoughts - Wow. One of the most nuanced, smoothest, and highest quality fig + sandalwood fragrances I've ever smelled. A lot of modern analog fig fragrances I've smelled, like "Philosykos", "Primier Figuier", "Debaser", etc., find themselves falling within a similar creamy, fruity, and green smell profile, with slight variations to appease different palates and tastes. With that being said, I've been fairly unimpressed by a lot of recent fig-focused fragrances I've smelled recently; save for this one and "The Matcha 26" by Le Labo. Whereas TM26 takes the fig and extrapolates the greenness and makes it bracingly modern, Santal Greenery decides to fill out the edges and nuance the simplistic profile to make for a more interesting, refreshing, and thicker wear. performance - Easily one of the best performing freshies on me with 11ish hours longevity on my clothes and skin with strong to moderate projection throughout the first 4 hours. rating - 9.8/10. Signature Scent Worthy. when to wear - Yoga + Gym + Spa day on the beach; Business conferences in Honolulu, Hawai'i; Slightly hungover breakfast with friends and family at some bougie resort song vibe - People Everyday - Metamorphosis Mix by Arrested Development TLDR - fruity-sweet, refreshing fig + sparkling bergamot & grapefruit + green, ozonic violet leaves + creamy & woody sandalwood. A great fig that exemplifies nuances, and walks the line between the two main styles of fig fragrances that have become all too common in the modern era, with green, citrusy, and refreshing to creamy, sweet, and comforting. One of the better unique fig releases of the last couple of years, and honestly a must try for fig fans if you can source a sample or smell it in store somewhere. If you're bored of the same fig you've been wearing since the 90s and want a thicker, more nuanced upgrade, this is worth checking out.

I absolutely love this out of all of Dries Van Noten’s line. I can’t stand the rest of them, with the exception of Raving Rose but when I smelled this I fell in love (not an understatement). I love figs so I have a bias but this is a very well done version. I also have to admit that my skin turns every perfume sweet so I don’t get a strong grapefruit or harsh fig. My skin just turned this perfume into a creamy sweet fig musk. The initial spray is green (but not harsh). The fig is slightly sweet (unlike Philosykos Diptyque) and the bergamot adds this instant freshness that isn’t screechy or harsh. The grapefruit adds a slight tartness that rounds the initial opening beautifully. Then the dry down (on my skin) is this creamy slightly sweet soothing, almost milky, warm sandalwood musk with the fig and bergamot still punching through, making for a “my skin but better” scent. I can see this being a great signature scent if you can afford it. It’s very safe. It lasted on my (lizard dry) skin for 6 hours and outperformed Raving Rose. It’s a very clean smell; it smells like a very beautiful expensive body wash or soap (which I know sounds unappealing) but it really smells super clean without smelling *cold* or *harsh* like a neroli perfume. Is this a unique perfume worth its price tag though? For most people absolutely not!! It’s nothing new in DNA, and there are so many beautiful fig renditions out there from Dior, YSL, Floris, Fleur de Figeur, and so many others. The scent itself being so safe objectively isn’t worth 250 pounds because you can get a similar experience from Floris Mulberry Fig for half the price with their cedar wood base. If this perdume was around the £200 mark it would be more appropriate. I love it and will buy a bottle. But I would only buy the bottle for the refill ability that Dries Van Noten has for all their perfumes (which I think is what you’re actually paying for - the bottle).

Man, I love this fragrance! This is me in a bottle. It opens with a refreshing burst of citrus notes, followed by the smooth and creamy scent of green fig. Finally, it settles into a seductive blend of sandalwood and white musk, making it my ideal choice for spring and summer. I might not always reach for this fragrance in the winter, but it would work just fine if you are having a warm fall. (But also... WEAR YOUR FAVORITE FRAGRANCES WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT.) I'm perplexed by people labeling this scent as outdated/boring, as it's a well done contemporary interpretation of timeless ingredients that are widely recognized in the fragrance industry. I'm absolutely smitten with this scent and will be making this my signature scent for this spring/summer. Cheers!

I love sandalwood but it has to be smooth also, not a big fan of fig if it’s dry and too green but this one is absolutely beautiful; it’s a bit ripe and sweet. I wore this during the summer and got many compliments. It’s a clean fragrance and mostly natural ingredients but it still lasts (4 hours on skin) and projects. This is a bright, sparkling fresh clean opening from the non tart bergamot softened by the violet leaf. There’s no pickle juice smell here thankfully. The fig, musk and sandalwood are smooth and balanced so perfectly wow! No coldness nor sharpness. Smells sophisticated, natural and intoxicating. It performed beautifully well in the heat definitely full bottle worthy 9/10. It’s not too complex but it’s highly addictive.

I’m not a figman, I tend to steer clear of fig and fig adjacent scents . Look I’m past the 34 years of age mark and I used to love figgy scents , figgy bubble baths and as a kid I used to devour every stash of raisins in sight . I don’t know what happened after a decade of fig madness , it dwindled , I do not like figs or raisins . Now back to this , it’s the creamiest scent I own , so creamy the fig amplifies the sandalwood’s creamy qualities . I wore it 8 times since I got it last Christmas, I am sure I’ll wear it more this fall . I am a hoarder, so sometimes I’d think of it and will be amped up to wear it , then I chicken out of it because I have to go through so much crap to get to it .

I want to love this soooo much. I’m a fig fanatic, so am constantly seeking out new figgy fragrances to add to my collection. After reading rave reviews, and let’s be honest—seeing the bottle, I thought this was going to be perfect for me. But, after trying it in store several times and test driving a 2ml sample, I’m so torn. I love the fig, bergamot and ozonic violet leaf in the opening, but the grapefruit quickly overpowered the lovely green figgy notes and I didn’t get much creaminess from the sandalwood in the drydown. It actually wears like a men’s cologne on my skin. Vanilla Camouflage is my last hope for a lovely figgy scent from DVN. Fingers-crossed.

Citrusy, green, and fresh. There’s a sweetness too that’s subtly lactonic and it’s definitely the fig and sandalwood. It’s very reminiscent of summer in a forest with a creek running through. It throws out sharp citrusy ozonic bit that’s really addictive and makes me want to get a whole bottle since it does that smooth and creamy//sharp and green combo so well. The dry down after an hour is warm,woody, sweet, and green. It leans very masculine initially which I love, and settles to a unisex scent. People can smell it off me so it’s not the skin scent I think it is. Love this real bad and thinking of purchasing a full

This is a very gorgeous summer staple. Long lasting and classy but it very different in output depending on the weather, humidity and temperature. Gave the first spritz on a very sunny day and it came out very green and classy with a dash of citrus. However having applied it again on a cooler rainy day certain notes are now missing while the core remains the same. At least 6ish hours on the skin. Half an arms length for abour 4 hours before becoming a hands distance skin scent. Unisex and very office/first date safe, not so much amorous as elegant and radiant.

Santal Greenery is amazing, a truly unisex aromatic citrus and woody fragrance. It’s a rare scent in my collection that my BF agrees is “truly unisex” and would wear/share. I feel lucky that my fragrance-finicky skin does not throw pickle vapors as others have described (which it does for so many other sandalwood/cedar-noted perfumes like Parisian Musk and Oud Nude) and seems to grab onto the few sprays I need for HOURS of refreshing, grapefruit-forward citrusy aromatherapy...I deep sniff all day long.

As someone who always gets a pickle note when there is santal in the name and dislikes violet I was so impressed by SG! Lately I have been trying some Guerlain and L’heur de Nuit has a similar vibe but lacks something and now I see what. The balance between fresh citrus, green fig and sweet sandalwood with musk is absolutely stunning! Such an uplifting, young scent! It is like a garden in the summer, after rain! Edit: second test. Pickles. Nope.

One of the few scents that is very simple but keeps you coming back for more. I really like how smooth and creamy the sandalwood is. It also has citrus dancing in the background and once in a while the mint is playing peekaboo with my nose. I love it. This is full bottle worthy. Update: I could recreate this scent by mixing Arancia Rossa with Santal 33. No need to shell out $ if you already have these in your wardrobe.

This scent is incredibly comforting and sensual. I get the bergamot and sandalwood straight out the gate, but it evolves into something airy and comforting the violet leaf and fig mingles softly and it’s so incredibly pleasing. I really enjoy this scent. I will say I do agree with other commenters on the well laundered essence here. It DOES smell like a really upscale laundry detergent but honestly? I like that.

Possibly the only fig scent really to my taste. The opening is all figgy and citrus, but the sandalwood makes its presence felt right off the bat. There's something so smooth and polished about this line of fragrances, and that applies to santal greenery. A woody green drydown suitable to spring. Sillage is the same as others in the range, longevity decent.

This is so nice. They sell 3 10ml travel vials doe $125 and so I bought 3 of the same ones of Santal greenery so the price isn’t insane (it’s cheaper than some Sephora/designer brands). This is such a nice sandalwood. Greener than any ones in my collection but still very smooth nonetheless. It lacks any of the sharp “pickle juice” vibe of sharper santals.

This is a lovely all year round fragrance. The violet leaf is beautiful to me. It's like a luxurious soap that sits on the skin nicely. It's got moderate performance, would go really well in the office, or if you're just trying to smell pleasantly clean. It is very expensive, I only have a sample.

My god do I love this fragrance!!! I tried to stay away but I just couldn't. After sniffing it in the store , I got myself a travel size and we are inseparable since! It's fresh, citrusy and sweet with a nice depth from the sandalwood. Big love!

I really enjoy this because the sandalwood doesn't smell like a hamster cage, the fig is not-quite-ripe and so it retains some brightness, and the violet leaf and grapefruit give it some zing. Perfect for this insane heat.

Very feminine to me! Beautiful I want it ! Sweet fig with creamy sandalwood (like in ode to dullness by JHAG), the citrusy notes are very very light and creamy on my skin! Gorgeous winter comforting and stunning scent.

At first sniff it just smells like grapefruit - I really don’t like it, as my sweat kind of smells grapefruity, but after some time, it develops into the creamiest sandalwood/fig smell. Lovely!!!

This is such a beautiful green, smooth and unique fragrance. All of the Dries van Noten collection are, but this one and the Voodoo Chile really stand out.
