Voodoo Chile

My third favourite of the DvN fam. A smoky herbal that manages to come off clean, sweet, and faintly metallic. (But not like a vape pen! It’s giving more soft hookah). Would happily wear either day or night. The rosemary adds a subtle bite of spice. I find natural rosemary an overpowering scent (which also only makes me think of grilled chicken), but for some reason I loved it in this fragrance. Also I think this was supposed to be the rebellious/rockstar scent of the bunch, but I didn’t catch much of the cannabis. It’s there on first spritz, but quickly evanesces. Blessedly, nothing skunky about this one. Longevity: about 6h on skin and clothes; I worked out in this scent and it lasted for a very out-of-shape 5k! Mental Snapshot: You’re looking across the Mojave chaparral at midnight from the vantage of your glass-panelled loft. There’s not a soul around, save for a handsome android in your kitchen, preparing you a nightcap. tl;dr: modern shisha lounge 🤖💨

A fantastic take on cannabis, doesn't smell danky and animalic like most cannabis based fragrances do, the first spray is like rubbing a fresh cannabis leaf close to ur nose OR passing through a tomato plantation. Very fresh, green and natural smelling. Absolutely love the scent, as I am always chasing natural smelling green fragrances. If you are too, this is a must TRY, but try only. I don't think the price tag on it justifies the very weak performance. But..... it's very close to a damp green forest in a bottle. It can be one of those fragrances which you can enjoy while having a You-time, it is that way to me though. Won't recommend over spraying it to get some performance out of it, as it's not really a crowd pleaser nor an attention grabber in a good way.

I like it a lot. I swear I can smell fresh tobacco leafs. This is a very addictive scent. For me this DEF leans masculine although i would wear it. It's aromatic, calming (must be the cannabis, lol) a bit smoky and very very sexy. Reminds me of Haze and You or Someone like you (I Prefer Haze out of those two) but more masculine and cozy. There's a hint of sweetness to it. Like a tobacco leaf has that aspect as well. Oooff....10/10 And I don't even like smoke or patch in a fragrance, go figure. Husband's getting a bottle whether he likes it or not.

Could be primarily described as “mossy and earthy”. Does it remind me on an old basement? Yes. Does it also smell herby, complex, and unique? 100%. I don’t immediately pick up on the cannabis notes. In my experience, it opens with a sour pinch of rosemary, drying down to classic patchouli, and grounded by the woodiness of the cedar and sandalwood. The woody, herbaceous notes of the mastic blend everything beautifully. Though it can be pungent, it’s so smooth. I use it on its own with traditionally masculine outfits.

Voodo Chile is my favorite from Dries Van Noten line along with Soie Malaquias. The composition is built around rosemary and patchouli notes according to the brand but its so much more complex and exciting. I get some slight cannabis note which adds dimension and slight sharpness. The top notes might be a little bit sharp but wait a little bit and the magic happens once it settles down. Great longevity and projection on my skin and very fun wear experience. Highly recommended!
