Bleeding Heart Patchouli

I have given it two wears. It’s simply very very very high quality patchouli mixed wonderfully. It’s rich and nicely balanced. Longevity is great and the dry down on me evolves to an elegant woody/incense(y) smell. This is a fragrance done with the highest quality ingredients and IMO, intended for the wearer to enjoy themselves. Projection is 4-5 ft for 1st hour or so.... If you like Patchouli you will love this. Only 90 bottles made unfortunately.

D.S. & Durga Bleeding Heart Patchouli was a limited-edition website-only release from 2020 that quickly sold out, and is aptly named, with a rather heavy-handed use of patchouli but not fostering an overly heavy perfume, the other notable accord being orris, giving it an herbal and semi-fresh quality alongside the spicier patchouli. Overall, the fragrance is a good balance of fresh, spicy, herbal, green, woody, and ever so slightly powdery. It’s a really fun and full expression of patchouli, and brings out a lot of what I like about it without being over-the-top funky, and it even feels like a nod to mainstream/designer/easy-to-wear fragrances in that it’s quite pleasant and unisex rather than obtrusive or challenging. It was priced at $250 for 50ml, so certainly on the more expensive side of the brand but consistent with the pricing of other limited releases. Overall, it’s nice but it would have been a tough ask to blind buy a bottle at $250—still, patchouli lovers might very well want to seek out a sample of it. 7 out of 10

A rather lovely scent centered around a natural very high quality patchouli. The patchouli note dominates from start to finish. As the scent opens there are hints of orange, cedar and slight cardamom. As it begins to dry further, one can detect hints of osmanthus, orris, cassis and opoponax. The unisex scent has moderate to strong sillage and good longevity. A patchouli lovers wish come true. Enjoy!

Bleeding Hearts Patchouli is a material oriented composition, but done well and not boring or basic. It really reminds me of Montecristo by Masque Milano, mainly what it smells like in silage. Montecristo is very 'dense' as far as perfume goes and can sometimes be too much for the wearer. BHP is softer, not as concentrated Montecristo with elevated herbal aspect versus hyrax. Primarily it is Patchouli sweetened by opopponax, sitting on top of cedar. Patchouli is dressed then with subtle cardamom and orange. There is no mold aspect of it, but some bitterness is present. Now, when i say softer, that doesnt mean its not projecting or lasting, it very much is. 1 spray is optimal i think and works really well in cold weather due to a very plush nature of ingredients and blending. Compared to Nanshe, which is as well a patchouli cardamom perfume, you can clearly detect care that has been placed into BHP as it doesnt make anyone gag and balance of simple ingredients results in a very wearable masculine perfume.

Upon initial use, I found this to be an overt cardamom bomb. The cardamom intensity completely buried the patchouli. I was pretty disappointed, given that I had been refreshing my browser every minute for about 6 hours during a layover at DTW, and spent $250 on this. Several weeks and many sniffs later I began to understand it’s true complexity and realize my initial error. This perfume is masterful. The patchouli is NOT front and center, but rather the connective tissue of this symphony, and it is a masterful patchouli. The dichotomy between the warmth of spice and stark coolness of the patchouli have an unmatched interplay. I’m certainly glad I was paying attention to its release, and if you sat on it, sorry, you suck. Kick rocks

It was bugging me what this reminded me of then it hit me.. Straight to Heaven by Kilian. Not the opening (at all) but not long after has a similar sweetness and smell to it. It’s like STH if it had another note or two added to it. Or maybe just patchouli amped up a tiny bit? Not sure, but I’d be surprised if anyone that has that fragrance isn’t reminded of it. Nice fragrance! And although I mentioned the patchouli, it’s still not a patchouli heavy fragrance to my nose.

This is amazing! I’m devastated I did not blind buy a full bottle. I thought it was too pricey to splurge on something that would be very synthetic. I was dead wrong. I got a sample off eBay. It’s very natural smelling. Every note listed is present in different intensities. It’s most definitely a patchouli fragrance but very dry. I’d say because the orris root and cedar add dry woodiness. Worth buying if you can find a bottle.
