Coriander

I think people who like coriander get disappointed not because it doesn't exist here, or isn't natural, but because they had too much expectation for it to be exactly like coriander and nothing else because of the fragrance name. Now honestly ask yourself question: does anyone really want to smell exactly like coriander, pure coriander and nothing else? Or for that matter any single spice or herb, no matter how much you like them? Probably not! Likely due to presence of chinese pepper (litsea cubeba) and green notes, and absence of seaweed-like scent, usually associated with marine, but instead employing more like fresh sea breeze type of marine component, to me it all resulting smelling like coriander crushed on freshly cut board of wood (I would say poplar or aspen wood) on the breezy day on the beach. If this picture appears to you - most likely you will love this scent. Projection and sillage start like somewhere between moderate and heavy, but after 2 hours moves to moderate, and in 2 more hours it is skin scent. But it last 8-10, if not 12 hours as a skin scent. I guess it explains such difference of opinion on both longevity and sillage here. Interestingly enough, I haven't had any compliments on it while it projects, but get quite few compliments when it gets into soft sillage faze when someone get really close to me. I don't find it too feminine at all, and it is definitely unisex for me. I would say it is perfect late Spring and early Fall scent for anyone, but could be used all year around by most people. Don't think why anyone would hate it, so it would make relatively safe buy, because most would at least like it, even if they wouldn't love it. Reason I'm saying relatively safe is because of it price tag some might be disappointed if it would be just in like but not love category. It is suitable for all ages, but not every occasion, it is more like casual, informal, or could be date scent, but not for formal occasion or night at the club. Though it's suitable for both indoor, and outdoor wear as well. Scent 8/10 Originality 9/10 Versatility 7/10 Longevity 6/10 Sillage 6/10 Projection 6/10 Please note I took 1 from each in performance category because it is niche perfume, and as such it expected perform better. Designer perfumes with same performance definitely would score 7/10 if not 7.5! Bang for buck 7/10. Bottle worthy for me. Must have for all coriander scent lovers and those who like very differently smelling and distinctive perfumes. For everyone else it is not must, but worth a try if you found it on sale.

I received a sample of this fragrance in a DS & Durga "fresh" discovery sample set (including Rose Atlantic, Italian Citrus, Debaser and Coriander) in June of 2020. It was a birthday present, and the friend who sent it to me mentioned that the note list in Coriander reminded them of me. I loved this one instantly! It was so sharp, playful, vegetal, green and bright: exactly the summer perfume I had been on a quest to find for years. I happily and swiftly used up the other samples in the set, but Coriander felt special and so I saved it for special occasions. Finally, with only one spray left in my sample vial I started to hem and haw about buying a full bottle. I really felt that I needed this perfume in my life, but at more than 2 dollars a milliliter it just seemed crazy to me. I was about to buy the 50ml on their website, but luckily I found a really good deal on a 100ml bottle on ebay and I snapped it right up. It's a funny thing, when I had only a little 1.5ml sample to use sparingly, this smelled a lot more special to me than it does now! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this perfume, and honestly it IS the summer scent I had been looking for. It's beautiful, it's green, the coriander note is gorgeous (and I can see the comparison to the Jean Couturier of the same name– the eponymous notes are extremely similar) and it's sooo likable. I haven't had a lot of opportunities to wear it around other people yet but 2 weeks ago, from across her patio, a friend said "what is that you're wearing? it smells incredible!" So anyway I think this is a real crowdpleaser. It's totally linear and VERY contemporary. The reviewer below who remarks that it leans towards "lifestyle branding" is spot on. This perfume is shouting at you "aren't I hip? aren't I clean and fresh?" And that's just fine with me, mostly because I didn't pay $260 for this bottle.

OK now this one is truly a beautiful and unique fragrance. While it's often mentioned as a nice summer scent, I honestly believe it's great all year round, particularly in colder months... let me explain. As someone who typically shies away from robust, musky, smoky, and overpowering fragrances but really enjoys a peppery aroma during winter, this fragrance is kind of a match made in heaven. Yes, coriander is a cooler, greener spice that works very well in the spring but I personally adore it during the fall, and I honestly find it to be suited for the winter, thanks to those light spicy undertones -- again, this is just how I feel as a person who is not into warmer spices like nutmeg, clove, and cinnamon. (I love someone describing this as being something Carmie from The Bear would wear as that is a perfect embodiment of who would wear the fragrance. Flannel jacket, white tee, nice denim, running around in the cold winter months of Chicago.) Sure, some folks might prefer this in the summer if they like fresh, green, and cool spicy scents, but trust me, it's good to go any time of the year. It's perfect for those who appreciate subtle fragrances with a lighter scent that won't overwhelm the room. Don't shy away from this when it's cold out, seriously!

This smells so much like fresh green coriander seeds and blossoms from the garden, with a bit of fresh green peppercorn and a white musk base. There are some subtle florals that carry this through, but above all this is an herbal scent with some softness and salinity. That said, it doesn't quite smell like anything else I've had my nose on. It's the first cool weekend in NYC after a long hot summer, one to which I'm not ready to say goodbye. I reached for this immediately today, and have enjoyed every moment of its 8 hours of longevity. Usually this is my go-to spring fragrance, after the thaw of winter and the first buds on the trees—the air still a little crisp. It felt right today to return. I feel like DS & Durga doesn't get a lot of love around here, but it's quite simply my favorite house. (It helps that I live half a block from their storefront in Brooklyn.) Coriander has some magic going on with it, and I don't quite know how else to say it. It's beautiful, subtle, unisex, and my standard-bearer for green fragrances. Nothing I've found comes close. Wow wow woww~ I am BLOWN away by how much I adore this scent. It was love at first scent. This scent is light, crisp, refreshing, green, and good for a daily scent. Coriander opens with a fresh, green, herbaceous bang! You smell the coriander and lime with a peppery note that wakes up your senses and makes your mouth water a little. This is my favorite part of spritzing this fragrance. DS described it as being a COOL spice scent, and I agree with this. The scent reminds me of gardening in a beautiful curated garden with fresh herbs. The imagery of a clean cottage kitchen, linen clothing, in a grass field with cliffs that overlook the ocean is evoked. The heart is more aquatic combined with sage, moss, and lavender. The base is a musky magnolia which lingers on your skin gently for up to about 3 hours. I tend to re-spritz every 3-4 hours when I am wearing this scent because it is so light and I yearn to smell the top notes again. This scent is so unique, stylish, and wonderful, I would love to hang on to the top note scent forever.

Now, this one surprised me. Full disclosure, I've never smelled coriander before and didn't have the slightest idea about its scent. Read some good reviews about it and tried it out at my local shop. When I tried it, I thought it was pleasant, enough to get a bottle of it for the upcoming summer. First use today, it's better than I remember. Very fresh, clean, and airy. You get the initial spiciness that is not at all offensive. For a second, you get some Cowboy Grass vibe that is much more lighter and less dirty. Once that calms down, the freshness continues with a slight floral and citrusy undertone; a mild, pleasant sourness like a lemon drop. Straight unisex and a casual banger. Tailormade for t-shirt and jeans. Really can't see anyone being offended by this as you wear it. Will fit best during spring, summer and early fall but I can see this as an all-year scent. EXCELLENT!

Very fresh scent, most people who smell it respond positively. The opening is a bright sparkling coriander seed EO and lemon EO, followed by notes of sage and bergamot (I get dihydromyrcenol and linalyl acetate here). There is a basil-like impression at the top. The very long lasting dry down like someone else described is certainly heavy with ambroxan, something green but not outright "galbanum", like spirogalbanone, a touch of lipsticky rose, violet (ionones) and muguet aromachemicals. A tiny hint of vetiver and virginia cedar balances the base. There is a striking similarity between CdG 2 Man with the lingering dihydromyrcenol and muguet heart suspended over woody vetiver. However Coriander takes a diversion with a greener opening and an ambroxan overdose in the base rather than Iso E Super overdose like 2 Man. All in all, a very surprising, unique and enjoyable scent.

layered with the body lotion version of 'i don't know what', coriander is my go-to summer work fragrance. smells great on its own, but idkw just gives it added depth and longevity (as the fragrance doesn't last very long on its own). had a ranting customer who then, without pause, added, "boy, you smell real good", while her husband was within ear shot lol. bright, citrusy, soft, and with just a curious hit of spice. it's unlike any other fragrance i've smelled while still being so familiar and put together. it's friendly, inviting, warm, and a little sexy too. it's kinda hard to put too much of this on as it's so soft. i usually hit myself with six spritzes without worry that i'm going to make anyone around me gag. i wear it for work, but it's just an all around great fragrance, especially in the heat. FB worthy, imo.

This is outstanding for the right wearer. It's aromatic, sharply invigorating but grounding, and modern. It would be timelessly beautiful were it not for the fact that it ticks very clear contemporary boxes. It's a fragrant urban yoga studio or high-end tea house. In an alternate universe, it might have achieved the same ubiquity as Le Labo's Santal 33 - just tasteful and and of-the-moment, for better or worse. As a scent, I love it, but it may lean slightly more towards "lifestyle branding" than "fragrance" overall. I will say that it seems to have a broader appeal than some of the reviews imply. In my experience, it's a complement magnet, and strangers routinely stop me to ask about. ETA: My initial reservations still apply, but I've settled into this as my everyday scent. It always feels just right.

I asked the sales assistant for suggestions of 'something green', I was given Coriander , and I couldn't have been happier. My first impression was certainly green, however, not your typical 'fleeting, herbal, garden, green'. This is green with a bit of attitude, haha (forgive me for using this word). For me, it's perfectly 'fresh-spicy', or rather 'green-spicy'. Apparently, I love coriander. It has a fresh watery quality, but it's not fleeting. It's not too abstract. It has clearly defined contours. It's somehow 'peppery', which I would usually not like, but in here it totally works. It's quite unusual. A very distant cousin to Amazingreen , which I also love. Totally unisex. If you like the idea of something soft-spicy, green-fresh, this is very recommended.

I love this. I saved it a long time ago in my favorites at Lucky Scent. Curious as the whether I'd still like it, I ordered a new sample from Tiger Lily. It arrived yesterday, on a sticky, hot, July afternoon. I sprayed some on. I still love it. It is just perfectly understated and meshes with my body chemistry and emotions. It has citrus and spice and herbal notes. But there is a restraint, as if the creators of it did not want to go too far and held back. And that is why I love it, because it is both subtle, subdued and long-lasting. It also smells classy, refined, elevated; imparting the wearer with refinement. It would go as well with a t-shirt and shorts as a dressy outfit. It is flexible and delightful and especially great in very hot weather.

Soooo beautiful. As well as the coriander, the other herbs and spices in the fragrance - black pepper, juniper, clove, rosemary, clary sage and mace - make a beautiful, soft, aromatic whole, quite unlike anything else in my collection. It gets better the longer you wear it too. I have never been able to identify ISO E Super (in spite of some quality time with the Ecsentric Molecules Discovery Set) so I am assuming that it serves a purpose in getting that bundle of notes to play nicely together in harmonious fashion. The lime, in traditional citrus top-note fashion, is undetectable. Does not strike me as leaning particularly feminine. Husband loves it and is very keen to wear it again. Might even wean him off his beloved 'By the Fireplace'.

Excellent unisex spicy frag that I reach for very often. It's nice to have an option to smell spicy but not warm. True to its name, Coriander is fresh, cool and herbal. It does read green but it's not quite vegetal - it maintains a mysterious and complex aromatic pepperiness. It's surprisingly appropriate across most seasons. It's invigorating in colder months and bright and sparkling in warmer weather. I'm on my second or third bottle and I try to have it in my lineup at all times. It reads neutral enough to be appropriate for many occasions. Not particularly feminine, not particularly masculine, very versatile. PS Coriander pairs very very well with DS' I Don't Know What, if you're feeling frisky.

This is SO warm and comforting and addictive. The only problem is I had to choose between "Crush Balls" from the same house, and this one - and picked the Crush Balls simply because i already had too many "savory"/"spicy" scents and needed more fresh ones. It's a bit difficult to describe how something savory can feel so good - the only word I could think of is "umami" (the 5th flavor). it feels enveloping and "familiar" (even though no one regularly goes around smelling coriander seeds). but just to clarify - It's not gourmand. it is spicy, but not in the "usual" way. it's also slightly natural / herbal but not too green, more like dried herbs - but it's not too smoky. lime is felt, but very dimly.

This starts with a puff of lime peel (the spicier smell of the zest, not a juicy lime), then slips quickly into sage, pepper, and coriander. It persists with that coriander floating over a subtle woody base (sandalwood, perhaps)? I absolutely love the smell of cilantro, and although I know it's divisive, Coriander expresses that same freshness. I reach for Coriander any day I want a clean (but not synthetic-y), light scent--good for the office or enclosed spaces, Saturday mornings. I got it as a sample and felt kind of indifferent about it at first but soon started reaching for it all the time--I leveled up and bought a bottle last week. It's one of the best all-rounders in my collection.

This is such a wonderful fragrance. It reminds me a bit of the dry-down of Creed's Original Vetiver, which also has coriander in it, but it's clearly a different fragrance. The scent is quite lineair, which I think works out well here, because the scent is so pleasing. It's soft, warm and green, smells high class and a niche quality that you would expect. I don't think it's a scent that radiates like crazy, but it's longevity is really good, when I apply it in the morning, I can still notice it on my wrist at the end of the day. Edit: I kept thinking about this fragrance, and liked everything about it. Bought a bottle for this summer :-)

The Fragrantica notes are not complete. The DS & Durga website lists: Top notes: russian coriander, pepper, juniper needle Heart notes: geranium, clove stem, clary sage Base notes: musk, magnolia, mace As much as I want to hate on this for the lack of complexity and syntheticness, this is a very intoxicating blend of sea breeze, lime (not listed), juniper trees, cracked pepper and spices. It’s very light and wispy and I might want to have this for summer, and to layer with Juniper Sling to get more longevity out of it. I love the review that calls this a sea witch tonic or cocktail. Accurate.

Feels like the cool snap of crushing coriander seed with a pestle; vegetal and citrus-y like mango powder. Receive compliments on it regularly, with ppl finding it both calming and alluring--one friend even found it especially sexy. You may need to (re)apply liberally (find a cheap bottle on the greymarket), but when you do, projection and longevity increase and it becomes juicy and unctuous. ETA: maceration has greatly improved both projection and longevity. Two sprays to the neck after applying a moisturizer (sweet almond oil), and it sticks around for 12+ hours in warm humid weather.

Oh this is good. One of the few frags with marine elements that doesn’t make me nauseated - probably because those marine elements are so subtle here. Above all this is HERBAL, which I guess is to be expected given the name. Don’t expect photorealistic coriander; what you get is a melange of fresh cut, zesty green herbs with a dash of sea spray and a touch of geranium and clove for warmth. Top, middle, and base are all very distinct phases with the deep dry down becoming a pleasant, musky skin scent. Best of the best for aromatic green fragrances, and perfectly unisex.

I respect lands hark 321 but not agreed with him regarding this master piece...I purchased it from Twisted lily NYC where sales girl was least bothered with the customers interests...I literally withdrawn the perfumes from bydaro and nishane when I got a whiff of this masterpiece....it really really blown my mind...infact I got the perfume of my dreams...for me it is the only perfume which became another piller of my self composition...it started to describe my self to others...cut short if a stone smells like it, I can spend rest of life with it....that's it....
