Debaser

This is a really gorgeous earthy, juicy green fig with many parts of the whole tree; the leaves, the unripe fruit, the sap. A little hint of green clean soapiness to it. It opens a with a little green bitterness to the sweetness, sour and tart crushed fig leaves scattered amongst a bowl of fleshy green figs, some halved, some crushed, the sap oozing out. It’s honestly so photorealistic. It immediately transported me to sitting under a fig tree in the sun on the island of Kos, I had pulled an unripe green fig of the tree and pressed my nails into the fruit to pull it apart and get a good whiff at it (I like smelling everything I can! lol). As it settles, a beautiful milky fig sap is there adding a lovely green creaminess to the green fig that is held together with a wet fresh green moss and bright wood in the base. I don’t get the coconut, pear or iris on an individual level, just an understanding that various notes have been blended beautifully to create this figgy adventure. This lasted 12+ on my skin. Fun fact: David Seth Moltz (he’s the D.S. part of DS&Durga) and the nose behind the perfume, named it ‘Debaser’ because the figgy aroma he created reminded him of his year of summer camp, hanging out under the fig trees, when he was first introduced to the band The Pixies and listened to their song ‘Debaser’ on repeat. I really enjoyed sampling this - On day one of sampling I totally delighted in experiencing the opening of this juicy green fig scent but immediately thought ‘I respect you, but you’re not for me’. My initial thoughts were that it t leant a bit masculine for me. I had just finished a 3 day samplathon of Gris Charnel which was a total ‘love at first whiff’ and struggled to put the decant away in order to continue on my fig exploration. Although Debaser is sweeter and juicier than the BDK fig, for me, I like unisex and masculine leaning perfumes in autumn and winter but prefer sweet feminine florals for the summer. So Gris Charnel is a perfect mood match for autumn with its spicy, creamy woodiness, but Debaser feels more like a summer fruity fragrance that leans clean, green and masculine, not sweet and florally enough for me to wear in the heat. But I looked forward to my day of wear none the less. Debaser is a cheeky perfume, it’s different. It’s not obnoxiously loud but it’s unique enough to catch people’s attention. And indeed it did. I was at a workshop with strangers which involved up close, hands on training and through out the day I got several compliments and enquiries about what I was wearing and as the day progressed I felt myself enjoying it more and feeling that I had jumped to a hasty and incorrect conclusion that morning. So the next day, I wore it again. This time I found myself really drawn to it, I kept bringing my nose to my skin and breathing it in deeply, enjoying the various shades of fig it emitted. It again lasted all day. That evening I had a dance class and as my body warmed up and the perfume radiated of my skin, Debaser took hold of my heart and wouldn’t let it go. And I suddenly understood how this scent works well in warm and humid environments.

Debaser opens whip-sharp and very freshly green. A little like juicy green bell peppers. Intense chlorophyll zinginess. Over the next hour it stays strongly green, but I do also get a whiff of slightly sweetened coconut milk. At 1.5 hours, I'm beginning to get some light woods along with the greenness, and then a faint sense of shady darkness. It was meant to be inspired by summer camp, sitting under the fig trees and listening to the Pixies on repeat, and that's a pretty accurate evocation of the scent: green, dappled shade, summer contentment, just sharp and synthetic enough to feel casual rather than precious. I had an art teacher in high school who liked indie punk bands and whose messy studio had that green-shady vibe in summer when the windows were open; Debaser would suit him. Compared to other green fig scents I've tried, Debaser is the most basic and the most intensely green. Neela Vermeire Creations Ashoka is much more sandalwoody (and incense-y), while Bogue 10 is a complex swirl of different floral, animalic, and resinous notes along with the juicy green. Hermès Un Jardin en Mediteranée is a 50-50 blend of fig leaf and neroli, and L'Artisan Parfumeur Premier Figuier has a weird funky brown asafoetida base under the fig leaf. Debaser, by contrast, is 100% green juice, the whole way through. No fruit, very little sweetness, the barest suggestion of a woody base: just intense Fuck Yeah, Fig Leaf. D.S. & Durga makes a lot of fragrances with unusual concepts, and a lot of them are cheap-smelling, overly synthetic, watery-faint disappointments; but not all. Debaser is a real perfume, albeit a modern, minimalist, lightweight one. I can actually smell it clearly, and it smells pretty damn good. (Well, it smells good to me, a known green-lover. To my husband, it smells like "who's chopping green peppers?" -- his least favorite vegetable.) A great example of a clean-green unisex summery scent, casual and easy-wearing.

I have had a slight fig obsession for a while, but I think that this one might steal my number one spot. This is a green and fresh contender, but at the same time it is sweet and creamy, but never too sweet. It has that perfect balance between every aspect. A fruitiness and woodiness that walks hand in hand. On my skin I initially get a lot of pears, but a green and fresh one, not as juicy and sweet as I am used to in ‘pear-fragrances’. This a pear that is not completely ripe, one you pick right of the tree an early morning with dew in the grass and the sun dawning in the distant horizon. The coconut in the composition makes it sooo creamy, and gives that perfect amount of sweetness in a contrast to the partially sharp iris. I will be the first one to admit that I feel like iris tend to be a bit too sharp and powdery, at least on my skin. But, in this composition it feels like it is the only place it is supposed to be. The fragrance is woody, but never in a dry way, rather the opposite. This is a Scandinavian summer after a rain spell, and you are walking through the woods on your way to a secluded beach. Everything feels easy and carefree. I can understand why someone rates this as masculine leaning. It is herbal and woody, slightly earthy, and I know people associate that with masculine fragrances. In this scent though, it is the smell of fresh nature and you cannot put a gender to that? The drydown is very clean, almost musky in a way. It has turned into a clean, creamy woody, but everything I initially loved with that unisex dewy fig has disappeared. Nevertheless, I still like what it has become, and it is still fitting for as good as any spring and summer occasion. I had not expected to love this one as much as I do, I only wanted a more unisex fig alternative because I think that ‘Philosykos’ by Diptyque is a bit... boring? But ‘Debaser’ truly blows me away.

I have purchased a 10 ml of Debaser because I am obsessed with fig perfumes for a while and I think Debaser it’s the best fig fragrance out there! Debaser is mostly a smooth blend of sweet figs, juicy pear, milky coconut, soft, sweet tonka beans, a bit of a powdery iris and a green, fresh combo of bergamot and herbs as the scent opens. But once it’s dried down, it’s mainly creamy, powdery, sweet, fruity with tropical hints. Compared to other fig dominant perfumes from my collection, Debaser is centred around fruits: figs, pear and coconuts. It does have some iris and tonka beans but nothing stands out and overtakes the fig. In fragrances like Oasis Dawn from Estee Lauder Luxury Collection, the white flowers and pimento spices are almost equally highlighted as the figs are. In Hydra Figs by Miller Harris there’s a pronounced marine water element, there’s ginger, salt and cardamom quite at the forefront. Gris Charnel has figs in composition as well, but the black tea and the cardamom shifts attention away from the figs. To me personally, Debaser is the most realistic perfume when it comes to figs fruit! I still have to get my nose on the famous Philosykos from Diptique, before deciding if I should purchase a bottle of Debaser or not. That’s supposed to be the best fig fragrance from what I’ve heard, so I have high hopes. The only negative aspect of Debaser is the way it performs. It is long lasting, I would not deny that, but it sits very close to skin, it doesn’t radiate nicely in the air to create an enveloping scent bubble. Otherwise, divine! More of a day time wear, casual but elegant perfume. Seasons wise, it will work best in spring, summer and maybe warm fall days, it’s not a strong scent unfortunately. But it’s addictive!

23 March 2025 - tried on clean skin in the evening, a little colder today and it rained all day. - Another one I’m trying because it’s one of my sister’s favourites, and was surprised there wasn’t a super strong citrus opening as I thought that was her fav (I didn’t check the notes before). Getting pear definitely, maybe slight bergamont, and definitely some other greens. There might be the slightest bit of coconut and iris peaking through. - It feels green first, then fig (more green leaf, but fruit as well) and coconut second - meaning it’s not a fruity sweet overwhelm. It’s very light, airy sweetness, maybe like morning in early summer on a tropical island. I can see wearing this on days in spring that are not quite warm enough to be summer but I want to be reminded of summer. (It’s like a sweet memory of summer) - I would say this fully sits in the unisex category - like for a masculine woman or a feminine man, and obviously all by lovely non-binaries! - I’m not really getting the moss note everyone else is getting, but I think that’s the smell of petrichor that’s affecting that for me. - Fig fruit smell is fully gone, and I’m getting more green pear than a ripe pear now - I like it but some others don’t seem to like it. Still very creamy and lactonic - I didn’t check the time when I started, but maybe 15/20 min and it’s a nice mix of woody, green, creamy, etc. I really like it, and I think it would only really be out of place in late autumn or winter, though will try again then. Update 28 June 2025 - this has been a favourite recently, especially while I was in Mexico and Texas. It's perfect when hot. Need to record the notes again though.

This is a very green fragrance throughout its longevity. The most prominent note to my nose is the green stems. I feel like the fig and coconut serve more as an element that rounds out the greenness a bit. This is a great scent for the spring. You could definitely use it for summer as well. IMO its also perfectly unisex. I still need to test the performance more and will update this post when I do. I think I go anosmic to it; I'll think its gone the first hour then I catch a whiff again hour 3-4. EDIT - update on the performance: I consistently get about 2 hours of moderate projection and 6-7 hours of total longevity. I was going nose blind to it when I over sprayed (5+), but 3-4 sprays was all I needed. Pretty good for this type of fragrance. Anyways I think this is a very interesting fragrance and it really reflects DS & Durga's 'armchair travel'. It transports you to a feeling/memory while staying still. It's wearable art. For me, it reminds me of when I was in elementary school in San Francisco, its a cool but slightly sunny day and I'm at recess running around the garden with friends feeling the sf mist hit my face. This is one of their safer offerings but you should test it first before buying since it's not in that designer/mass appealing realm (nor is it trying to be). It's pretty unique but it does reminds me a bit of philoskyos by diptyque which is more prominent on the pear.

I just got this today and I’m hooked. I waited to buy this one for a long time simply because of the Iris and the”powdery” note in it. I’m happy to say it does NOT have a powdery note in it, thankfully as I am very opposed to powdery smells in perfume. And most perfumes can not mimic the actual smell of an Iris, but I digress.. This is a very green forward perfume. The first hour or so on my skin the smell is somewhere between fresh celery, green leaves, even maybe a little bit of tomato leaf and a beautiful coriander smell. (I’m aware these are not listed in the scent pyramid). I’m not getting any bergamot or pear. So nothing fruity in the first hour to two hours of wear. When the heart start to come in is when you get that green fig. It’s not sweet and the perfume never gets sweet, which to me is excellent as I have plenty of sweet perfumes. I never really get any Iris, not even in the dry down. What I get is the smoothing over of the bright green smells that I could see some people not liking at all. The woods, Tonka, and moss does this. (I love moss smells) But for me, I love it because it is so different than what I have in my collection. It appeals to my gardening side. 😉 This wouldn’t be something I made a signature scent, but I could see myself reaching for it often during the hottest summer days for that fresh green smell.

Ignore the fact that it's not the fig fragrance of my dreams (I'm still looking) because the bottom line is that I have nothing but adoration for this fragrance. It's one of the best fig fragrances I have ever smelled, and I feel it's grossly underrated & overlooked. In the top notes, I get a ton of coconut, like the real thing. This strong coconut scent is blended with a combo of fig leaf and just a little of the fig fruit. The coconut quickly becomes greener and just a little tangy, like a young coconut. It reminds me of coconut water more than coconut milk. The drydown was phenomenal, hours of woodsy-leaning, fresh, green fig leaves with clean, green coconut throughout. It's decidedly tropical and has a moist, humid feel to it, like balmy summer nights on a tropical island. I am amazed at the longevity and projection of Debaser and the fact that it did not give me a headache. I just think it's a fig masterpiece, despite it not being my perfect fig (my perfect fig would have no coconut)--but it's an example of what this house can do when it's at the top of its game. Despite it not being my perfect fig, I appreciate so immensely that I probably need at least the roll-on. Obviously I very highly recommend it.

For me, the opening is a pure blast of sweet juicy fig, although with enough green undertone to stay out of cloying territory despite the sweetness. I don't get much bitterness, or at least what's there is overpowered by the juice. After this initial extremely enjoyable fruit, it sadly fades on my skin pretty quickly, or at least I become relatively nose-blind to it. I get occasional little whiffs of that intoxicating opening for an hour or two, but then there's nothing left but a generic musky skin scent. I think something about my skin (or maybe my nose?) must make fig fruit notes fade particularly quickly, because all the classic fig scents I've tried, most of which are already not known for their performance (looking at you, Philosykos!), seem to perform even worse for me than average. Which is a shame because I love fig scents. Despite its poor performance on me and its high list price, the opening made it compelling enough to justify getting a bottle on sale. It really is nice. As a couple other reviewers point out below, the sprayer is impressively poorly designed, though, constantly leaking and leaving an oily residue everywhere.

Please read this review, before considering the negative ones- it physically pains me when i see the "all i get is grass" comments. The beauty in this fragrance is that it sits super close to the skin for a reason. It is so natural and mimics just what the creator intended- a sleepaway camp in the late 80's. This perfume house is known for its eclectic and nonconventional take on "outdoorsy" notes- take steamed rainbow, cowboy grass, big sur eucalyptus, for instance. Just like their other perfume "i dont know what", this is made to layer with EITHER floral/fruity notes (hence the iris and fig) or more woodsy/spicy notes. Either way, this fragrance is perfect on its own for me, and if you dont like the grass notes, then please try experimenting and layering with something more up your alley, to create your own perfect scent bubble. If you like the notes of this, but find the green too overbearing, I would highly recommend trying Gris charnel by BDK or parisian musk by mateire premier. Both great, but less outdoorsy and woody than this one.

Almost through my 2nd BIG bottle in less than 18 months. I literally get asked what I'm wearing EVERY DAY by every type of person. Like, people not only ask, but they stop to write it down. It's young, fun, & has a wide appeal, but definitely nuanced and sophisticated. Like playing an infectious alt rock anthem and everyone asking who this band is. My mom eventually broke down and bought her own full sized bottle after getting over the thought of having a big bottle labeled DEBASER on her vanity, and she was afraid it was too harsh at first, but I encouraged her to start low and close to skin under clothing at first. Now she practically pours it on like me :D This is an EXCEPTIONAL summer perfume, but it plays so well with other scents--personally have mixed well with musks, ambers, lactonics, mineral-y terroirs AND/OR aquatics, greens, tropical fruits, custardy-fruits--you can prune this Surrealist Fig-forward topiary into pretty much everything.

Loved this when I sampled it, so I bought a bottle. When I got home, the smell that greeted me was absolutely atrocious. It was an overwhelmingly cloying stench of rancid milk and fig, and I banished the bottle to the back of the wardrobe. Cut to 3-4 months later, it was an extra hot day here in Singapore. I was due for some physical activities, but didn't have any perfumes appropriate for the occassion BUT Debaser. So, I bit the bullet and sprayed it on my person. I have no idea what happened in these few months, but the scent has absolutely transformed. It is now the same perfume I had sampled at first. The fig is unctuous, quenching, and it has a refreshing quality that I haven't encountered in another perfume before. I'm such a fan right now! I don't really get any wood notes until 7 hours into its wear. Up until then, this is a tart, fig-forward scent that is fit for any occasion during the summer. I will be wearing this all week!

my second review of debaser after using it for several months now, and I think it's my favorite scent. It's so invigorating, perfectly balanced, and just such a cool fragrance to put on. I'm a guitarist, and this is so fun to put on before I play a show because I feel on theme with the name hehe. Debaser, as many say, is perfect for hot weather because it sort of lifts you out of the heavy heat and brings a lot of freshness and clarity. There's a great creamy, slightly fruity sweetness coming from the fig and coconut milk that is so playful and summery without feeling too tropical or sunscreen-y. i made friends with the girl at the store that I bought this from, and she slipped me the 2/3 full tester bottle from the counter (what a lucky girl I am!). I savor it along with the several sample sprays rolling around in my purses, anticipating that I will eventually buy another full bottle because it's that good

I really love this, but the first time I tried it I couldn’t see getting it for myself, maybe because the dry down leans masculine to me (yes to 2000s Abercrombie vibes, but I’m not mad at it). The opening is more unisex, a gorgeous green, damp fig. The next morning, however, the first thing I noticed upon waking up was that something smelled really, really good; turns out I could still smell Debaser on my skin, and it made me really happy. So yeah, great longevity and projection. Of the 20 (yes, 20. I probably need an intervention) fig fragrances I’ve tried, I’d say the ones Debaser remind me of most are Philosykos for the greenness, and Imaginary Authors’ Yesterday Haze for the dampness. This one is much more wearable than Yesterday Haze, which is a smoke bomb on me. If you're someone who finds this too linear though, check out Yesterday Haze for a really interesting, complex fig frag.

This is a profoundly interesting smelling fragrance. It is the most realistic fig scent I have ever experienced in a fragrance. It really smells like picking a fresh fig off of a tree. Like the smell of the milky white fluid that is in the stem. It's so realistic it is almost jarring. It smells super green to me, in contrast with Philosykos, which is also a realistic fig but smells a bit more jammy and fruity than Debaser. The other note I am getting is a very realistic and fresh coconut. This perfume manages to be fully fruit forward without smelling sweet, jammy, or feminine at all. It's almost the tiniest bit musky. I normally don't like fruit forward scents on myself, but this one is very different. It's green, realistic, natural, and almost the tiniest bit masculine. I love it. Was in the running for my signature scent.

This is my favorite high heat fragrance. Between its notes and oil concentration this fragrance projects all day even in high heat. It starts off with a green fig note, like Philosykos or simply picking a fig off a tree on a morning you know will turn into a hot day. In time, the coconut water makes its way to the front, joined by hints of iris that give a cool and almost dry smell you get from drinking the coconut water from a dehusked coconut. These notes are joined by tonka bean and moss that soften the fragrance while keeping the "greenness" as it fades off your skin. This fragrance lasts 6 to 8 hours on my skin on a hot day, during that time it is noticeable within 6 feet, but the scent bubble really grows if it's hot and windy. Honestly this fragrance is a treat to wear and would recommend you give it a shot.

I love many figs and Debaser was one that I merely liked for a long time. In cooler weather it seemed to stay quite sharp and green, which is fine, but I usually reach for creamier figs. I'm currently dealing with a bad heatwave and this has just shot up to the top of my list. It really shines in hot weather, the sharp edges are smoothed away and you get more of the coconut*, a little creamy, but still fresh and bright. The overall impression is of some fresh green stem oozing milky sap. It took this intense weather for me to finally appreciate all the facets of this perfume. *Coconut is such a hit or miss note for me. When it works, I love it, when it doesn't work, it comes off as salty homemade playdoh. This one works thankfully. It's not heavy or thick, it's not overly sunscreeny.

I hated the smell of this on a test strip. Then I tried it on skin and I was hooked. It comes off as a dusty fig leaf, handsome in its own right. The coconut I'm getting is more of the dry husk rather than the milk. Then it becomes dirty and woody with the fig in the background, but in the most beautiful sense of it. Two hours later, it was a faint skin scent. What I am furious about is that I will more than likely finish the 50 ML. bottle before year's end. If I re-up, I'm either going to get the 100 ml. bottle next time so that I can really blast myself or buy the I Don't Know What fragrance enhancer along with another 50 ml. bottle. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. In the meantime, maybe DS & Durga might consider making an amped up version of this?

This scent takes me back to my late grand father’s farm in the Middle East with all the fig and citrus trees planted in the freshly watered soil where I would play every summer . Sadly the people we love leave us eventually along with their beloved trees or we perhaps leave them as life gets in the way. The memories we cherish so dearly seem more and more distant with time . The figs picked off the tree , eaten fresh immediately after being washed . The innocence and laughter surrounded by fear amongst the sound of bombs during the war . This is the magic of true perfumery when done well ... The ability to tell stories . This a beautiful clean scent that is very realistic to the nose and not synthetic at all. This is a must have for all true fig note lovers .

Overall feel of this is light fruity coconut-woods. The opening is freshly green with pear stem, not pear that quickly gives way to ripe fig, iris and realistically sweet coconut milk. The fig and coconut milk are presented in a way that is a little powdery in feel from the iris. The drydown is mostly the dry blond woods and tonka. The the warm vanilla-y character of the tonka blends seamlessly into the lingering coconut milk. This isn't another overtly sweet summer suntan lotion scent, it is a mellow fresh lightly sweetened alternative balanced nicely with the blond woods and a joy to wear. Be great for summertime or warm weather, has a breezy elegance to it. Not spectacular or original but nonetheless, hard not to love the effortless charm it has.

the green fig + buttery iris + non-sunscreen coconut note combination is very inspired, truly stunning. I reach for this one a lot, I relate to it on a personal level. And I love the Pixies too, so it’s great to have the song (debaser) play in my head every time I wear this. It’s very unisex and versatile, I wear it all day and all year long and it never feels inappropriate. It makes me feel very cool and relaxed. The silage and projection are great, which is uncommon for this type of scent, in my experience. The only thing I dislike about it it’s the nozzle. It leaks a lot, it’s always oily around it. Bad spray mechanism, the mist is not smooth, which is frustrating, especially because this is not a cheap perfume.

THIS is the perfume that got me on my perfume journey. i remember smelling this for the first time and IMMEDIATELY knew this would be my signature spring/summer scent. she’s sooo juicy, sweet yet musky. very androgynous! very green & woodsy, the notes are pretty accurate. i usually am not a fan of sweet perfumes (like vanilla 28/SDJ type) & i know debaser is nothing like those perfumes but i would consider this my “sweet” perfume because ones like SDJ give me a pounding headache. this perfume transports me to a park in a bustling city where I’m laying on the grass reading a book, munching on some fresh figs, getting a tan. best believe i have plans to grab wine with my girls at night too. she’s that bitch

this is a powerful green fragrance - a 'greenness' that stays all the way through it's wear which i'm very grateful for, as green notes can often be fleeting in fragrances! it's juicy on the opening, with a wateriness that almost makes it aquatic. the iris compliments the green fig too as it keeps it 'cold', airy and fresh. it's dries down into a very woody base and i feel this is where it starts to differ from diptyque's philosykos edp - philosykos turns very creamy, whereas this is scratchier, woodier, rougher. this lasts much longer that philosykos too which is sadly quick to fade. a really good fragrance and a must-try for lovers of green/fig notes. 8/10

To be honest I see all these notes here but I cannot smell them on me. All I can smell is grass, like freshly cut grass but I don't get the fig or coconut, pear, iris, bergamot.. none of them. Only grass and what is curious is that it doesn't change, from the very first spray until now (after 3 hours) it still smells like grass. It is way too green for me unfortunately, had higher hopes given its popularity and good feedback. Edit: Now at the 4th+ hour the green smell has disappeared and there is something very mild and sweet scent about it but has gone beyond skin scent, i have to dig my nose into my skin to smell it.

I am very strict on buying full bottles (200 samples and growing, 5 full bottles) I also don’t normally like sweet perfumes. this initially wasn’t a love but as it’s getting warmer I apply all over the skin and I feel like the noir 29’s summer cousin, which I also have. Very figgy, some green hints but nothing cucumber like or sharp because the creaminess is almost edible. The wood balances it out especially on the dry down, but the wood is very blonde, similar to the matcha. Don’t be scared of the opening because I was, apply to skin and let the summer sunset breeze take you to new memories friend

This one is a bit baffling. It starts out sharp and green, like fresh cut flowers. It's a bit sweet but the aromatics are very strong. Then that sharp accord fades and I get more of an unripe fruit smell... like mango? Maybe it's the fig and bergamot. The soft flower also takes more of center stage. I can't decide if I like it or love it... I'm leaning toward love. Since writing those notes, I find myself reaching for this one when I want a reminder of spring on a dreary winter day. Is it a signature scent or an every day workhorse? Probably not. But it definitely has a place in my collection.

I'm interpreting this as a sort of cheeky nod to 90s consumer culture. It's an amazing green fig scent but behind it lies the smell of a long lost magazine perfume strip paper. It has a definite unclean quality about it, which gives it an edginess compared to other fig fragrances like Philosykos. For those reasons I adore it and I'm not sure if it's just because I'm part of the millennial target market but it resonates with me completely. As a person who is sort of middle of the road in terms of gender, the slight masculine mall-core edge makes me feel like a hundred bucks. It's really good.

I did not like this on card, and did not even try it on skin in the store. BUT it came with a sample set I got, and so I figured I would at least try it. It is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! It works with my skin so well. The fig and the coconut compliment each other so well, in a way that comes out sweet and fresh and not overwhelmingly one or the other. Definitely skin test this one. It is a fan favorite for a reason. After three or four hours it's dried down to a nice soapy smell on my skin but it's still on my clothes slightly, so not the most incredible longevity, but pretty good for a fresh scent.

Ah, Debaser. I don’t know why I love you. This fragrance is exactly why I can’t judge a bottle by its notes. I don’t typically go for green scents... but Debaser is probably my most used perfume. It’s so easy to wear. When I don’t know what to wear, it’s what I choose. It’s clean, it’s casual, it’s relaxed. The opening, fig, and iris save the coconut from getting too slimy and sunscreeny. Instead this stays creamy, woody, and fresh. I layer Debaser with some other tonka-heavy scents, which tones down the green notes when I’m not in the mood for them. Love love love.

uggghhh I love perfumes like this. I'm going feral. it's got the sharp cleanliness of fig and greens. it's got the addicting creaminess of coconut. I don't get much of the opening citrus to linger but I'm totally okay with that. god I love this kind of thing... it's giving Tam Dao, it's giving Commodity Paper, it's giving earthy soapy goodness. omgggg noooo i read a comment and it said "elevated garnier fructis" and I am literally screaming. while she did absolutely read it with that comment, I might as well just rub shampoo on my neck then bc I still love it.

The first time I smelled Debaser, I got goosebumps. Instantly, I was transported back to my childhood on the countryside, late summer, golden hour. I’m three years old, playing outside with my twin brother and older brother. The air is warm and alive with the scent of sun-dried hay, wildflowers, and the green freshness of blooming chamomile. It’s dry and green, but soft and golden at the same time. Debaser doesn’t just smell like nature; it smells like freedom, warmth, and the feeling of being completely present in a fleeting summer moment.

D.S. & Durga always makes things that feel both familiar and entirely new, like a smell I can place immediately but also feels invasive to my senses. The opening of this is so green. Not a nice, fresh kind of green; more like actual lawn clippings stuck to the bottom of your shoes. This one evokes strange memories for me. It smells like being outside when you don’t really want to be, and damp foliage, school walks. Not a safe blind buy, but probably good for the fig lovers, although I picked up on more lactonic than fig notes.

this smells like a memory of childhood, and i think people who used to live in rural areas will appreciate this fragrance even more. for me personally, it's a perfume my grandpa would wear, in the best way possible: herbs, nature, linen shirt, tender smiles, calloused hands, sunlight... this is debaser, very green and very lovely, sweet in the way freshly cut grass is. the longevity is very good, and the sillage is noticeable, but very subtle, like a whiff of summer in the morning breeze. absolutely adore this scent.

I did a skin test of this a couple of weeks ago. In the top, I was SHOCKED that I barely got any of the citruses listed in the top - just straight greenery. Thus, I found myself initially not pleased with it. However, as an Iris lover, my opinion quickly changed once that began to show it's face in combination with the fig (thus me believing my initial distaste was instead simply shock). I've been thinking about the dry down for WEEKS. May not be for everyone, but it sure is for me. Most likely my next full bottle.

Snappy, green, milky stems and figs. LOVE this. The fig in this is green and creamy with a touch of sweetness that blends well with the coconut milk and pear notes without becoming too tropical or suncream-y. The woody dry down has an almost humid and static-y quality, which I love. I've seen reviews picking out a magazine note that I can't stop smelling now, and it just makes me love it all the more. When the weather's hot, this perfume shines all the more. Such a well-balanced, pretty fragrance.

This smells how I felt in the 80’s. Nostalgic, warm, fun, fearless. I was a kid but still, I remember that feeling. Palm trees, damp sand, beaches at sunset, going out with friends on bikes in the heat. Garden parties with adults drinking and maybe it rained unexpectedly. Luscious green trees, flowers and people all having fun in the heat, dark, and rain. Everyone ends up a bit sweaty but all you can feel is the joy. Yes there’s a ton of fig in there but it’s milky, earthy and delicious

This is so good I'm almost lost for words. My new favourite perfume. 10/10. Perfect woody, green fig. Sophisticated, unisex, and urban. To me, it's giving cool girl aesthetic and also reads as very smart and grown up. Very versatile. Projection and sillage are above average/in the sweet spot to be worn as an everyday signature. Also, the title is very ironic to me and I don't get a grunge music/bad decisions vibe AT ALL! Strange marketing for a fragrance that feels so elevated.

This is the best Fig Frag I've tried. It captures both the greenness and the fruity aspects of fig. The coconut isn't overpowering -- its just a well-blended freshy. In a world in which many spring/summer fragrances are either too green, or too fruity, or too aquatic, or too floral -- this one strikes the perfect balance. I wore this once in my hair on a day I had my haircut and my stylist demanded I do every time I see her. This will always be a part of my collection. 4.5/5.

This was my first fig fragrance love—still one of the best. Debaser is a loud, green, creamy fig with a little coconut and dry grass underneath. It’s bold but never screechy, and the performance is truly all day on my skin. My clothes it sticks for days. I don't get the punk association. Doesn't have that FU vibe. I still love it, but other figs go in different directions that may be a better fit depending on what fig you like (Fig Extacy, Murmur D'Ete, Philosykos).

The best fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It’s such a perfect mix. Green, lactonic, watery, floral, musk, even a little dry and woody. It’s everything I ever wanted in a perfume. Only problem is the lasting power is subpar. Sillage isn’t too strong but the winds this spring carry it around the warm air beautifully. Kinda smells like a warm day in the garden by a fig tree, the garden hose has been left on and the smell of its water mixes in the breeze.

ok I loved my boyfriend's take on this - "smells like a plum sitting on a seesaw on a sunny spring day, with milk spilled on the woodchips". The plum was really the fig, but he was right - It is innocent, childlike wonder. The candle accompanying this scent, holy ficus, he described as "newborn horse" LOL. same milkiness we both picked up on. This is another one from this house I tried to wear daily but unfortunately, gave me headaches.

It's like strolling through a greenhouse. Damp green air, cooling, wispy, cloud of vegetal juice. The scent of cutting a bunch of flowers and the stems dripping sweet sap... crushing a bouquet of crunchy green leaves....I love Debaser- it's a breath of fresh air! If Diptyque Philosykos is the more coconutty sister - charming and sweet in her cashmere sweater - this is the carefree androgynous sibling that dances barefoot.

Wasn’t sure if I liked this at first. The opening was a little too green and sharp, almost grass like. Once it dried down though I instantly changed my mind. The coconut and fig blend together beautifully. There’s also a slight powdery feel that really balances out the citrus and green notes. This does lean slightly masculine but I love it nonetheless. Longevity is good and it projects at an arms length.

This exactly smells like SUMMER! It's like lounging in a freshly mowed lawn. I don't feel the punk parallel either, but let this be my biggest problem with it:) I've had a few fig perfumes and thought I've exceeded to this genre, but these proportions make for a perfect and unique juice! Fig, woody and creamy at the same time, with some mossy earthiness in the dry down. I'm very happy that I found it.

Debaser is one of the finest fig fragrances ever created. Its lush blend of green fig leaves, creamy coconut and sun-warmed woods perfectly captures the feeling of a Mediterranean summer, making every wear effortlessly uplifting. I love it so much that I wear it year-round, mostly during the day, and from the first time I smelled it, I knew I'd found THE fig fragrance I'd been searching for.

This is the first DS&Durga scent that I like. Love, even. I've not smelled such a nice presentation of coconut where it isn't a suncreeny, nose-tickling, synthetic mess. But Debaser actually does it well. The fig-coconut-iris interplay is lovely and unique. The effect is one of dryness, airy sweetness (but not really that sweet at all). The mossy finish is perfect. Time to get a full bottle!

I originally did not like this at first sniff because it came off as incredibly masculine. After I did a skin test it completely changed my opinion - the green top notes that bothered me fade away after dry down and I get a woody, warm, clean scent with the fig and coconut shining though. This lasts ALL DAY on my skin and I love wearing it to bed, the way I smell in the morning is divine.

I'm not a fan of Philosykos, but I absolutely love this fragrance! Unlike the Diptyque version, it doesn't come across as overly green or grassy. The fig is beautifully balanced by creamy coconut and soft woody notes, making it feel much more rounded and wearable. It's bright, sparkling, and perfect for summer, with surprisingly good longevity. I'm really enjoying this one.

First encounter with Debaser whilst staying at Capella in Hanoi., by way of their toiletries. Had strong and fitting associations with Vietnam, on account of the coconut and green vegetal notes. I like that it doesn’t go full blown fruit mode, so the fig holds the centre of this. This does feel like a more tropical version of my beloved Aegean rooted Philosykos.

Best fig scent out there in my opinion. I don’t like perfumes that are too sweet or too feminine-leaning. This is a pretty green fig scent that is also juicy in the middle and dries down nicely to a vanilla and woody scent. Perfect for the hot summer heat where I live. I like to wear it on days I feel adventurous, youthful, or mischievous to channel the energy.
