Foxglove

I received a sample of this without knowing anything about HYLNDS or D.S. & Durga OR Foxglove. (BTW, it would be nice for HYLNDS to appear in the title for those who do not have a clue HYLNDS is made by D.S. & Durga, like myself). I assumed it would be a masculine leather fragrance based on the name. And to my surprise it was absolutely nothing like l expected. It has a very natural citrus peel note....not the fruit but the actual peel, particularly the inside of the peel. It is also combined with some very natural smelling botanical notes including a very rooty iris. This fragrance has an incredibly natural aroma. As it dries down it starts getting a suede like musky effect with a slight peachiness to it. Some woody notes keeps it very unisex and balanced. I find Foxglove to be an incredibly original fragrance unlike anything I have ever tried, despite the very common sounding notes. It has a casual earthiness to it. I don't feel like I am wearing perfume. I feel like I am wearing a beautiful landscape. Very interesting fragrance and I highly recommend trying this if you have an opportunity.

Received a sample with another DS&Durga perfume. I will echo comment below: it's a pleasant surprise indeed. To my taste it's rather feminine, soft, warm, dry, a little woody. The perfume seems like something very classic but has really not even a single irritating shade that usually ruin such perfumes when there's an attempt to make them "different". Classy and very well-balanced. UPD: now I have a full size bottle, and I love this perfume. On me it does not show much citrus though, I smell some lemon, but it's rather subtle. It's more iris and some other field flowers (it must be immortelle and/or queen anne's lace - this is what gives character to this perfume) - still dry, warm and feminine. Funnily enough, the thing it reminds me most is when I first tried a perfume on a page in a magazine :) it was Estee Lauder Pleasures, and I remember I loved it then, it was like magic. And Foxglove reminds me of this - something flowery, meadowy, but like spread on a paper. Perhaps not the most flattering description, but to me it's perfect.

After a weekend spent cutting down brush and burned oak trees and cedar trees after a fire has ravaged the landscape,this was just the perfect scent. I picked it randomly out of my ample samples and was astonished to smell Immortelle. This is a flower that is often associated with Italy yet here in California we have a lot of Queen Anne's Lace and other types of flowers that smell astonishingly like immortelle. So to me immortelle does not conjure up images of pancakes and syrup so much as it does the wild. This is a unisex perfume that would do well I think in fall and or winter, perhaps even spring. I quite like it and am getting more. This is not linear, but it does wear lightly with low to moderate longevity and even lower silage.

My second try from the Hylnds quintet by D.S. & Durga, Foxglove, is a pretty agreeable blend of several florals and citrus elements, anchored by wood. The heavy dose of white florals is in immortelle, sweet and light, and iris, only slightly powdery in this case. Neroli branches to the only true citrus note of lemon, and this floral/citrus freshness carriers the fragrance into a dry down of wood and suede, still very light and well-blended to the point that I feel slightly that I'm in the woods or near suede, but not immersed in it. It's enough to keep me interested in the notes but not taken over by them. The floral elements might suggest that Foxglove is wholly feminine, as some have commented, but to me it's rather unisex, as this could easily fit the bill for a men's warm weather day wear fragrance. I probably wouldn't wear it for a serious and/or nighttime occasion, but it walks the line just as, say, the Hermes Jardin line does, fresh and androgynous. It's unsurprising, given the fragrance's depiction and note breakdown, that it's not quite as stellar a performer as Bitter Rose, Broken Spear, and in that respect, it is a tougher sell at the same steep pricing of $180 for 50ml (yes, Tom Ford Private Blends routinely go for more but when they generally perform superbly, there's less of a gripe). Still, I enjoy wearing Foxglove and would do so more in warm weather if I had a bottle, but I doubt I'd splurge for a full bottle at this pricing. 7 out of 10

I got complemented !!! Very yummy smell. Immediately thought of oranges and springtime and I feel like this is a good scent for me. I'm not too annoyed by it. When I first spray it, it smells very citrus-y and when I rub it down into my wrist it's a nice woody smell. I feel like a fruit. Almost reminds me of my godmother. I think I prefer better to rub it down on my pulse points cause I sprayed it a few times on me and it's a bit overwhelming for my nose (which is why I thought of my godmother). Still a nice smell...

"Foxglove" is a rather nice, citrus based fragrance suitable for all weather conditions and both sexes. The problem though I'm having with this is mostly due to peach - it feels very watered down and together with citrus and light woods it seems a bit off - a bit too soft and too subtle. I hoped this would be more rounded, more full bodied, but unfortunately "Foxglove" lacks both of those things. Due to that it also has a very soft power and it does project for some 4-5 hours only.

Soft and Pleasant Reminds me of a metro sexual visiting the barber shop . Give me a Short Back and Sides and trim the Beard thanks, The Hipster An inoffensive scent. Not much longevity (1/2 hour)

Strongly fruity-citrusy, bittersweet, & powdery...no glove here, but smells like an elegant lady who'd wear a pair!

I don't think it's bad, it smells so cute and fruity when you spray it in the air. But GEEZ. To me, the citron was too strong. Not a fun experience for my nose, but once it settles into the woody/floral notes, you're relieved. but are you saved? 👀 I'd say yeah. But having citron at the forefront? Naur, don't do that.

11:30 - well that's intense. A sorta dirty citrus/floral. Lots of iris, but with a sharp white floral undertone. 12 - Getting a headache. While I believe the reviewers who said this could be unisex (individual chemistry and all that), I'm having a tough time imagining this on a man. Big white floral with a peppery undertone. I'd like iris to be more apparent after the first five minutes to soften the neroli and immortelle. 12:30 - I wish I was getting the short longevity that everyone else seems to have experienced. This shows no sign of slowing down. I'm also not getting anything "soft" about this. Like, at all.

citrus and white floral...quite femme but pleasant too. i'd love my wife to smell like this. there's a slight tinge of mainstream ralph lauren aromachemical whatever, but it's only minor. quite pleasant and sweet.
