Roman Ruin Cypress

a fresh, cypressy green amber scent with some nice neroli coming in and out of the picture. reminds me surprisingly a lot of my ottoman amber from merchant of venice with some "chypre-esque" italian citrusy greens throw on top. Oddly to me the only fragrance from ds and durga that smells like amber to me despite all the other "amber" offerings. Might be my all time favorite from the house. surprisingly fresh and natural smelling and doesn't do that screechy synth thing that goes to the top of your forehead and gives you a headache like a lot of their other heavier offerings. worth $400? now thats another conversation.

Nice. Avoids smelling of pungent Christmas tree but evokes fresh conifer mediated with clean floral and herbal notes. The dry down features a particularly fine cedar wood accord - unfortunately there's little lift left by the time it appears. This is a scent I might deem full bottle worthy but for the outrageous sticker price. $400 for 50ml is a high bar.

Pleasant woody aromatic scent built around a cypress note that does not overpower. The scent opens with notes of bergamot, lime and neroli leading to the cypress heart which is surrounded by some rosemary and lavender. The perfume settles on a semi-synthetic powdery amber like base (a mixture of labdanum and the synthetic molecule amberwood). The masculine leaning scent has moderate projection and good longevity. Overall nice, but is way too expensive for what is being offered. Enjoy!

Beautiful, decidedly masculine scent. As others have written, the opening and dry-down are very much in line with the listed notes. It opens with a bright lime tempered by bergamot and neroli and evolves from a clean cypress to a gentle amber scent. I don't find this a terribly "enigmatic" scent; I think it is more Roman holiday than Roman ruins. Don't get me wrong, it's pleasant, just a bit "clean" to be otherworldly.
