Sweet Do Nothing

My favorite by DSD, an instant love, which is extremely rare for me. When I tried this on in a store, I was wearing it for a while and I forgot which perfume I had sprayed on which wrist, so the sales girl smelled my arms and she was like, “I know this is weird because I don’t even know you, but this smells like you! It smells SO good on you!” And I was just like, yesss! I finally found something that just magically clicks with my chemistry. I totally agreed, but didn’t want to buy until it had been on for an hour+, as I’ve made that mistake many times. It’s subtle, sweet from the orange blossom but not cloyingly so. Also clean but not soapy, just light, bright, almost sparkling. It’s fresh and well balanced with a very alluring amber background/dry down (I know that’s not a listed note, but amber is one of my favorite notes and I distinctly smell it on myself here). Maybe it’s the incense. I don’t get much fig or smoke on myself. It’s unique, very wearable, non-offensive. It’s also 95 degrees and 53% humidity here, so it’s nice to have something that still smells good and not overwhelming in the heat. Some of my favorite perfumes are Ambre Eccentrico, G Water, and Orange Blossom by Jo Malone. It kind of feels like I layered these three together, but in doing so created something very distinct.

My favorite. My daily scent. I am obsessed. This is a perfect fresh summer scent. Totally clean and unisex, feels like standing near a laundry line in the desert in summertime while someone is peeling an orange next to you. The opening is all bright clean citrus zest, a dry rather than sweet orange. The orange blossom and neroli are more soapy than floral, but I wouldn't say this is a soapy fragrance. Someone in the reviews said it smells like orange PEZ and I can kind of see that, because there is a kind of chalkiness in this. It's a dry, unisex fleur d'oranger. The drydown is beautiful but very faint, unfortunately. I have only worn this in hot weather, so maybe in cooler weather it would stick around a bit more. It's a cedary, incensy, barely smokey drydown that gives the vibe of an old desert church like in the opening of Kill Bill 2. I love it, I wish it was stronger. I'd love a little more smoke and wood and incense, actually. Overall, though, nothing but good things to say about SDN. Significantly better than El Cosmico, which I found unbearable. Adore it but the price is quite high considering longevity is a bit lacking. Highly recommend, if you can get it on sale.

This is my favorite scent from DS and Durga, by a mile. I have been to El Cosmico, and Marfa is my happy place. I was so excited when El Cosmico was released, but I find it to be very cloying with a strong cola note. El Cosmico is a scent I wear for me, because on dry down, that sandy desert smell comes out, and really reminds me of my happy place. That said, my boyfriend does not like El Cosmico on me, and says it smells weird. Cue Sweet Do Nothing. This perfume has that same sandy, creosote campfire note that I love about El Cosmico, but the cloying cola note is replaced with white flowers! I am in heaven! To me this is even more reminiscent of the place El Cosmico, and with that floral opening, a real showstopper. For context, my daily perfume is Eau des Sens from Diptyque, so orange blossom and neroli are scents I adore. Boyfriend likes this one a lot, I get my sandy desert memory perfume. Win/win. For me, it's full bottle worthy and will definitely be making its way into my signature scent rotation.

I chose SDN as one of my 4 samples in DS&D’s discovery kit. I’ll be honest—it was the one I was least excited about and when it arrived I wasn’t impressed. Imagine my surprise when I decided to try it again a few days later and instantly fell in love. Initially I get bright, juicy green cactus with sweet fig notes deftly woven throughout. It’s a different fig than is present in Debaser (which I also adore), possibly due to the somehow both delicate and intense white and yellow florals that emerge in the dry down. The longevity and sillage are not great for the price point, but they aren’t terrible either. Tbh, I don’t mind reapplying throughout the day if it means I get to experience such a complex, layered fragrance. The longer SDN is on my skin the warmer it gets. I’m constantly getting whiffs of a warm, musky spice that I can’t quite place but I ADORE. Scents like these are why I love niche perfume so much.

Creosote and cactus flowers, airy and open. A cool sweetness. White floral high notes on a wide desert expanse. Neroli and cedar in complex harmony. Morning dew on orange blossoms with a hint of pepperiness. This is the brightness of the desert in fall, a high wintery light, the cool air of sunrise, bare scent carried on the wind. A backbone of creosote, earthy and grounding, sage green and intensely alive. There’s an element of water here, cool, tranquil as a rock pool. A brightness like the sun in your eyes. I don’t get the incense directly as much as I sense it almost like a tether that keeps the fragrance from becoming overly sweet. Musk drifts in on the dry down to cradle the disparate notes, a cocoon of warmth that mirrors the sun.

Green, fresh, flowery, watery, a little figgy (wish it was more prominent) with a light and spicy dry down, kind of reminds me of Coriander which I love. Maybe this is Coriander's shy little cousin. She disappears quickly - it's true what most others have said below about longevity! BUT I layered this over top of the I Don't Know What body lotion and it's delightful. The combo gives me several more hours and enhances the fresh spiciness for me. Nice and inoffensive summer scent.

whoever said this smells like hot girl breath is spot on. It has this whisper of slightly unpleasant musk followed by juicy cactus blossom and heavy incense. I do like it. It is very peculiar and this is what I would imagine a hot girl in new mexico riding a horse would wear. Of course longevity is not great, but that's to be expected of this house. The drydown is very pleasant to me and i found myself smelling it over and over. I would not buy a full bottle.

Absolute 100% instant love. Wore the sample around a few days and then bought the full bottle. It's light and slightly sweet -- but what I love is the cedar and orange blossom that hover near the skin. A perfectly unisex scent. It does make me think of my grandparents' land in Austin where mesquite, peach and pecan trees grew along with cacti and bluebells. Lovely fragrance that I will have to not use up too soon,.

This is a gorgeous fragrance. A warm dry breeze of sweet desert air. I love it (on the east coast) for a bright spring day with no humidity. The floral notes are sharp and never cloying. The incense adds a really subtle and lovely spice. Like the name 'Sweet Do Nothing,' this is an easy wear for the day time- in office or outside. Approachable but not boring.

This one really grew on me the longer I sat with it. The smoky, spicy, woodiness is beautifully balanced with the citrus & white floral. (If there are any other RDF Cacti enthusiasts out there looking for similar frags to it: I can attest to it not smelling much like that one at all. Cacti is green & refreshing, this is smoky & dry.)

I get mostly realistic florals, clean musk and a hint of sweet fig. I wish I picked up more incense, cactus and cedar but I still really enjoy this. It’s clean, care free and a little bit romantic. The longevity is not amazing and it evaporates almost instantly in 90+ degree heat.

I love this. After getting my full bottle, I realized it's a little muskier than my previous samples I purchased directly from the brand. Such a cool mix of fig leaf, neroli and creosote. It has great longevity on me. I want to go on a cross country road trip wearing this.

Positive, light and refreshing fragrance. Cactus and fig makes it smell quite unusual. On my skin, it dries down like spices and watermelon gum (in a good way). Perfect for warm spring and summer days, love it!!

One of the best scents from ds I’ve tried so far A Masterpiece

Full wear, sample 1.5ml, Night, 74F. 43% Humidity I like to paint a picture of what I imagine the perfumor was thinking. The only thing that comes to mind is white linens blowing in the breeze gently. Sunny day. Not hot but nice. 70s. I keep coming back to white candles, possibly from its gelatinous waxy feel.Clean. Obviously the color white is evoked heavily for me with this. Now, to me I feel this is very intimate. Yet while sitting here writing this my friend walked by about 6 feet away and asked what I'm wearing so it may be a "molicule 1" type of trickery going on with this one. Smells pleasant, fairly well mixed with orange blossom, fig and Incense playing off a woody back with an overall watery cactus holding everything in its gelatinous mold. The 3 notes come in and out as if playing leapfrog. Kinda cool and interesting actually. The fig is not as green as in Debaser by DS&DURGA but it hints at it. About 20 min in and it's taking on a slight powdery feel, Neroli maybe? From here it takes a turn becoming even more intimate and what seems to me to be almost non existent at times. Once and awhile though I'll catch a waft. I don't want to count this out from an initial wear, but as it is, its only fuction is where your not trying to offend anyone. Dates, work, or when you don't necessarily want something strong. Scent wise, it's interesting, I like it. I don't love it. I don't think I'll be buying a bottle. If I do it will be a 50ml or a decant. Based off the notes I was expecting alot more, I'm initially disappointed however that's been known to change. Definitely sample this one. Edit: This is officially the weakest performance I've ever encountered. When looking at that price this is an absolute no. DS&DURGA has raised they're prices too as of 8/1/23 and I find that downright disrespectful to the consumer. You expect me to pay hundreds for something that is gone in under 2 hours. They should be ashamed. No way.

* New to the world of complex fragrances* Got this fragrance in a DS sample sale based on the description of the notes. I was looking for a more complex glossier you fragrance, a skin fragrance with more freshness. I wouldn’t say it’s fresher than glossier you but more woodier glossier you’s older cousin who lives in south east Asia. At first smell, it smells like stepping out of the shower on the first hot summer day of vacation and standing in the balcony of your lake cabin after. It’s when the cool breeze hits you and clean soapiness meets the elements of the environment around like the bonfire smell from the previous night with the incense like woodiness and brings the wateriness from the lake and a tart smell from the fruit ripening in the trees around. It dries down warm and woody- making it a good unisex fragrance. I really like wearing this fragrance, that being said I don’t know if I would have bought it full price.

Sweet Do Nothing is aptly named - it lasts about an hour on my skin, and while pleasant, its sweet, woody, somewhat smoky and camphorous light touch disappears just as soon as it comes into full force. I moisturized with a fragrance-free product before the second application, which seems to be helping. However, overall this is another very nice, delightfully unusual DS&D scent with (as others have said) a variation on their overall "vibe" with extremely poor performance. If you can justify a big bottle, perhaps it's worth getting it and carrying around a decant, but since I'm not smitten with this particular scent from the house, it'll be a pass from me.

This is a "high heat" scent! Perfect for really warm summer days to the point that you breathe in dry air. I mostly get cactus, something sour, something that feels like "old wood". This fragrance was what I had in mind when I wanted a desert type of perfume, so I would feel like a RDR character but in a wearable way. It would have been interesting if this one had leather too but overall, what I wanted, sadly it's too expensive. My cowboy perfume.

I hear it’s discontinued? Quite unique where I live, no one wears this. Good for summer, it works well with heat. I would prefer less neroli in it. Drydown reminds me of Diptyque Ilio. I can see why some would hate it though, it has that DS Durga DNA lol Someone here said it smells like pickles, unscented hair spray/lacquer, a hint of Screamwood in its rubbing alcohol form and a floral vanilla deodorant. That’s a perfect description. I love it.

Such a bright airy fragrance with a little peppery heat. The florals are not sharp or headachey which is a requirement for me in any fragrance. The main impression is very reminiscent of the way Demeter's honeysuckle used to be, which made this fragrance a new favorite of mine since that was one of my favs for years. This is much more complex though. I love the balance of the white and yellow flowers and the juiciness of it overall.

Lovely top notes of orange blossom, a little watery and spicy, a base of milky fig, but not too much... Slightly yellow/sweet floral and peppery, but veiled. Very sweet, a little springtime pleasure. On the other hand, the hold on my skin is really not sensational compared to other DS&Ds, so much so that I'm thinking of reselling my bottle. To be tested over the long term, especially for staying power.

Light and fresh unlike many other wearable fragrances from ds & durga. Not getting any wood or smoke that a couple others have mentioned. The most powerful note to me is an almost honeysuckle scent, but a little more complex with a little tartness. This fades incredibly fast and in the span of 30 minutes to an hour (if you’re lucky) it’s barely detectable.

Not too sure if the bottle needs to settle a bit more but I find it a bit light for an EDP. Smell is very DS & Durga. A mix of IDKW meets Radio Bombay meets Concrete after lighting (yes the candle) meets El Cosmico. Safe blind buy - DSD DNA!

Has a slight feel of jazmin Yucatán but it’s NOT. Bug spray vibe like el cosmico, but it’s NOT. Incense Neroli and Pepper carry it most of the way and that is good thing.

Going on a walk through the woods under the hot Texas sun. My first experience with prickly pear in a fragrance. Very floral/fresh and pairs so well with IDKW. 8/10

A fig stripped of its usual creamy richness, leaving behind a hollow shell refreshingly green but watery. Think biting into the crisp skin of an unripe fruit. There’s a coolness to it, a translucence that feels almost weightless, and it hums with this faintly herbal sharpness underneath, like crushed stems and leaves releasing their oils into the air. Fresher, but fleeting—like the scent of morning dew on fig leaves before the heat of the day sets in—dewy, ill-fated, and nothing remarkable. Edit: Gave it another try on my pulse point this time, and it's not bad at all actually! The initial crispness of unripe fig remains, but it gains a soft, almost milky warmth that is sweet in the most natural way. The herbal undertones mellow out to join hands with the fig’s delicate, watery juiciness, making it feel less sharp and more fluid. The scent clings deliciously, never overpowering, like the lingering trace of figs crushed between your fingers. A slightly silkier rendition of Vilhelm's Basilico and Fellini—smooth, organic, and undeniably moreish.

To me, it started smelling like a tropical scent; sort of fresh, sort of floral. In the dry down, it smelled like a "smoked wood". I tasted a few perfumes that day, and when I got home, I was smelling my wrist and thought "not really interesting or original" without knowing it was SDN; then I remembered. So, great opening, but not really interesting dry down. It's an experience, though. From tropical smelling to smoked woods! Longevity isn't great; it was completely gone within 4-5 hours, while some of the others still there this morning!

This fades incredibly fast. It's pleasant but not a showstopper for me. I smelled the orange blossom instantly and maybe sweet water as well. I wish it had lasted longer than 30-40 min to see how it develops. I could smell some hint of campfire like others have mentioned, but this just stayed all floral with very little smoke or pepper. I wouldn't buy FB, but it was fun to sample.

Sadly another disappointment for me from this House. It has a reminder of Debaser with its fig leaf undertone but is MUCH sweeter than Debaser (probably the orange blossom? I'm starting to think that's a note I don't like) with some smokiness and musk. I really was curious about the cactus note and I got none of it. It doesn't even last thirty minutes.

Opens with a big and slightly indolic neroli. Then a peach/melon shampoo note I'm not really a fan of. Slightly green (cactus?), a tiny bit spicy. It's fresh and dry. I was not a huge fan, but if you like smelling clean and cool, this might work for you. Would go great with a white button-down.

smells like my childhood friend's bedroom that was covered in shelves upon shelves of monster high dolls. sadly i think thats because a lot of perfumes go stale-room-smell on my skin

very simple aquatic floral citrusy scent. Brings no association of the sunny, parched, dusty desert landscape to my mind. Smells like the lobby of a super bougie palm springs hotel.

this was thick, but in a more mild way than a lot of the smoky DS&Durga scents

Smells like something from Byredo: a list of notes that look interesting as a description, and on skin blur into something sweet, sour and vague, settling into boring frangrance-y sweetness. If you're a Byredo fan, you'll probably like it. For me though, both Byredo and this are not remotely worth the price. P.S. Cannot believe I didn't make a joke that this smell 'Does Nothing' for me. Ha-ha. Unironically, this name if very fitting for my experience with this frangance. Literally a sweet nothing - with a hefty price tag, of course.

The cedar isn't blended super well IMO. Wanted to love, but it's giving bathroom cleaner to me with the kind of "dry" smell that tickles the sinuses.

A light summer scent focused primarily around notes of neroli and orange blossom. The scent as it starts developing also gives faint notes of cactus, pepper and fig. The perfume settles into a base of cedar, synthetic musk and slight incense. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and longevity. Unobtrusive but unexceptional summer wear with an American Southwestern desert vibe. Enjoy!

Sweet do nothing is similar in texture to something like gypsy water with orange blossom instead of lemon. It is the same type of airy, watery citrus with woods. While GW has a cool girl refined vibe this one is rough around the edges, opening with a definite smokiness from the creosote and incense before the orange blossom smooths it out. Nothing is ever intense so much as hinted at in the composition like GW. In fact when I was newer to perfumes I couldn't pick out the smokiness at all because I was so accustomed to beast mode designers. The whole thing dries down with an addictive dry cedar. The orange blossom is.the only note pretty consistent throughput. It isn't sweet or candied. This is mostly watery and aromatic. I live in the desert and this captures the smell of desert air rather properly. It has a very dirty bohemian vibe while maintaing an airiness. I rather like it as a gritty desert perfume, lacks projection or longevity but certainly has character.

Astonishment out of nowhere. I got the discovery kit primarily for Pistachio and curiosity about a couple of the others, but not at all for this. This the sort of scent profile I've never sought out because Cactus is sort of like Lotus, often a representative of synthetic aquatic notes that I can't wear in the concentrations they are typically used in. This is the perfect clean, airy, floral-musk for people who like me are usually made queasy when aquatic notes hit their skin. Even that description doesn't do it justice, it's flawlessly balanced. I'll be looking for Pistachio down the road, but this one was my priority for a bottle buy, and by a very wide margin. I have a hunch that this is highly variable by skin chemistry, so try this before you buy a bottle - but above all TRY IT :)

This is very peppery on me, making the florals smell dirty and dusty. I love orange blossom so I'm trying my best to sniff that out from under the grit! I can't honestly say I know what a wild cactus smells like or a creosote bush (i can only think of the creosote used to tar fences, which I loved the smell of as a child, I don't think it's here though?). It reminds me a lot of Lost Alice by Masque Milano, even though the pepper and musk are the only notes in common (except maybe the floral notes read similar in both). I'm getting a suggestion of carrot too, as in Lost Alice. I think this could be a beautiful fragrance on someone else, but not me. Will try and find someone to foist my sample on!

Walking through the botanic garden's fresh and wet orchid room. Wet moss, fresh cut stems. This scent is beautiful. I'm not a huge floral lover but the unisex nature of this really captivates me. It's floral, fresh, musky, almost juicy. On me it opens super orange-blossom forward and dries down to a musky skin scent that I love. It almost is like JHAG Not a Perfume on its dry down but with a white floral projection. A classy, timeless day scent with an alternative twist. Probably a safe blind buy if you like white florals and musk already. Does not project a ton and the lasting power is debatable but very pretty.

Juicy green floral. Reminds me of going into the bathroom after someone just took a steamy shower and used an expensive floral shower gel. Or sun bathing in a botanical garden while sipping on a refreshing beverage with loads of ice. Wanted to like this and I could have...if I hadn’t completely ruined it for myself by discovering that I think it smells like dill pickle juice...I’m unsure if I would find them that similar if I was to smell them side by side, but I can’t get it out of my head...it has some kind of savory element. Such a shame because I think I would potentially have loved it.

This fragrance is gorgeous on me. It starts with really nice orange blossom, cactus, and fig with some watery tones. After a minute you get some underlying twinge from the incense, cedar, and creosote. You can definitely tell this is a spiritual cousin to El Cosmico. I’m glad I am able to pick up on the “timeless hang” vibe David is going for. This reminds me of one specific early summer outing with my friends in the Texas hill country. No clocks, no worries, just good times. Unfortunately the longevity is lacking but I prefer a good scent to performance.

Enjoying this release. It is definitely connected and similar to El Cosmico, DS Durga's first Texas inspired perfume. The opening neroli and mid fig are what give this scent its own identity. As the neroli fades, this feels like El Cosmico meets Debaser. The house is really good at having an established profile and identifiable DNA. It's in here! The smoky woods especially assist with that. I'm enjoying it, I think this will be a nice September wear, as Summer slowly transitions into Fall.

I ordered a sample of this because the notes list was so interesting but unfortunately all of the exciting ones for me (fig, cactus, creosote, Texas cedar) do not come across. This starts with a bit of an aquatic rush—very fresh. It immediately settles into orange blossom and neroli. On dry down, I get mostly incense which is a bummer because it's my least favorite note listed. Certainly not my fav DS&Durga I've tried but that's just me! Where to wear: yawning in white linen

A soapy white floral, round and bouncy. The soapiness is softened with sweet green fig. The cedar is less of a note and more of something aromatic that sets a scene of a dry hot day while hanging up linens on a clothes line. I wear this with a lace trimmed white tank paired with denim cut off shorts. It’s innocence with an edge. I imagine Thelma (of Thelma and Louise, of course) wearing something like this.

I agree with the last reviewer that this is light for an EDP but the smell is clean and inviting. I can see the desert influence but in a soft way more like Mojave ghost and less like Tauer. This one has that undeniable DSD DNA written all over it. A ride through the Texas desert in a vintage convertible with the wind running through your sundress and your hair. An easy wear for spring and summer for sure.

First you get a crisp sweet fig, I think crisp from the cactus, I have no idea how it smells but the fig gets a little more diluted. It is good if you like fig fragrances like me. If you like Fig Infusion you like this as well, it is absolutely in the same category. Where FI stays sweet and more woody, Sweet Do Nothing gets really a summery boost from the neroli, in my opinion really emphatically present.

Was very excited for this, as I love El Cosmico and thought this might be similar. There is a strong woody sour aroma chemical here that doesn’t sit well with me. Feels like a Byredo. Not herbal/desert as I expected. More masculine than unisex imo.
