Beach Roses (Rose No. 3)

This smells of roses, 100%. For me, it smells of the roses my mother grew (and still does) in her garden. A true rose smell. However, it's so true to life, that I'm actually not really enjoying it as a perfume. I guess it turns out that I like just a tiny twist in my perfume so that it's not a realistic memory, but something else. However, if you are searching for a true rose, and live in a town with 70% humidity, this might do it for you. I first tried my dram when I was living in Oakland, and this came across as a very dry, almost harsh rose. I really find that temperature and humidity influence the way that I smell perfumes, and this one is remarkably different in a different climate. It also reminds me of Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose. I can smell what we typically call "the green stems and the dew upon the petals" about 15-30 minutes into application. Get it if you like true to life rose!

I have this in the voile de parfum. Beach Roses is a lifelike, very bright rose. It does have a strong sense of sea air and green which amplifies as the rose recedes over the course of its wear time. I associate aquatics with more transparent, fresh fragrances, but this has a rough and brackish quality, in a good way. The other notes are, to my nose, nominally present. It's a straightforward scent, but as a relatively affordable natural rose, it's a great staple.

I had great expectations for this potentially gorgeous fragrance! It reminded me of something I wore many years ago but it didn't last long enough for me to recall. It seems that this line, as lovely as it may be, has no longevity.
