Coffee Absolute

Smells like coffee? yes. On skin... first 15 min it is quite bitter, sharp. almost has a bitter burnt coffee scent to it (this did not impress at first). Give it 30 min and I do smell coffee. However, it is not smooth or rich, nor fresh. More acidic and bitter. It reminds me of the coffee scent of the coffee maker at the local convenience shop - but the next day, after a day of several pots of coffee had been brewed. Spilled coffee on the burner, a bit burned, dried, the collection of tannins -- the scent of coffee dissipated over 24 hours. You are cleaning it up and as you wipe the scent you smell? This is DSH Coffee Absolute the first hour or so. Give it almost 1 - 2 hours -- it gets better. WAY BETTER. Now I smell pure.... yes, absolute....coffee. And that burned stale scent? - gone. I do get a pot of freshly brewed coffee at this point. I think its not as rich or smooth as I would like a coffee scent to be but it is straight up coffee. also - tested EDP. seems to sit close to skin - at hour 4 wearing it when this review is written. 2nd edit - scent lasted only about 6 hrs total on me. will test again too.

It must be me. I recently sampled two coffee perfumes, and both read more chocolate on me than coffee. I definitely get something smoky from this one. Yes, there is an element of smoke which, while not unpleasant at all, gives it a slight cigarette aspect. Maybe that is the "roasted" part. It is really strange that two perfumes which get reviews such as, "straight-up coffee" or "the most true coffee perfume", etc., do not read as coffee on me. The other one I tried was Akro Awake. Both are nice, just not especially coffee-like to me. I think that maybe Awake had a little more throw, as I smelled it on myself all day. I just applied DSH Coffee Absolute, and I am not sure it is as strong, I will have to see how it behaves. For a perfume which lists no other note than coffee, it definitely has some other things in it. I am just not a sophisticated enough nose to know what they are. For my purposes, I'm not sure it is full bottle worthy, I already have an oil which smells like smoke which I could add to a chocolate perfume to get close to this same effect. It is quite pretty, though, and I can see where it could be very enjoyable and have a loyal audience. That smoke aspect keeps coming back to me every time I huff my wrist. I rather like it. .

This is as coffee as coffee can get. There are no other coffee fragrances out there that give you straight-up coffee like this does. And for me, the scent is of a spot-on good quality coffee, nothing to get real excited about, nor anything to criticize. Certainly does not smell like a cheap coffee. I am a black coffee lover (even tho I unfortunately no longer drink coffee) and this is what I get from it. The one...big...disadvantage: For me, it lasts an extremely short time. Extremely. So short, I won't even mention the time, perhaps I just need to use it several more times. It is exactly what I would want to use, and use often, especially perhaps with layering; it just does not have any projection, sillage, nor longevity for me. If there is any way possible to improve that (something tells me there is not, since its a natural fragrance) this would be something I'd always have on my shelf for life. Regardless of that, I like this house, love that they have a line of completely or near-completely natural botanical frags.

Starts out as literal freshly cracked, slightly over roasted coffee beans. You can smell that acidic bitter smell they get when slightly overdone. As it settles onto the skin the acrid scent mellows, and it's just roasted coffee beans. Like coffee beans have been captured into a fragrance. No sweetness, no sugar, nothing earthy or chocolately or creamy. Straight up coffee bean. A one hit wonder, but what a wonder it is! Great for layering. Medium staying power (ordered it in alcohol base)

This is a coffee smell. As if i am entering some coffee blenders, quite raw, fresh, and toasted. I believe this fragrance could be layered wit another fragrance and could be a standalone blend for coffee essence lovers.
