Onycha

Onycha is a complex smokey amber with real depth. It makes me think of ancient rituals and mysteries. Reminiscent of the feel I get from Anubis, but Onycha is less primal force and more human/animal. I feel powerful when I wear this.

I put a little drop of Onycha a few minutes ago and I had to write about it right away. It is that good. Something bad happened to someone close to me today. I don't need to say what most of you already know how scents can soothe the soul the same way music or art can. I was so intrigued by that combination of notes, imagining a leopard roaming the pews in a church near the sea, how bizarre! The three notes listed are distinctive and oh so harmonious. If I had to associate Onycha to a person, it would be Floyd Gehrardt the badass matriarch in Fargo. The fur coat, the 70's and the snow. This is signature material.

This. Is. Weird. Just bizarre, and whether that's good or bad is subjective, but niche and high-end. We always hear about warm ambers, but Onycha is to me a cold amber, if that's possible. Cold animalic, cold smoke. It feels like you are at the beach, perhaps someone is roasting sea shells, yet there is also something sweet and human-like. I don't want to straight-up call this salty, it's more a suggestion, but it's almost suffocatingly natural. Out of all the seaside frags out there, this might be the one that evokes it the best, or at least for the cold northeastern US that I am accustomed to. There is something pungent that's hard for me to put my finger on. Honestly Onycha is unwearable for me as I don't really enjoy the scent. It is however incredibly artistic. You don't even know what you're smelling, but you want to smell it again because it's so interesting. The performance is great for a natural; very strong and long lasting.

This perfume is potent and really does make me think of rituals during cold weather by the sea. When I let it waft to my nose I mostly smell incense, but when I sniff it closer I can smell the brininess of sea animals and their shells. It’s odd, but not unpleasant. As it wears it feels more ambery and woody. Onycha is long lasting, 100% natural, and really tells a story. I’m glad I sampled this!

I love this. It is ambery goodness. I used to keep some amber resin on this hand-carved wooden turtle platter in my bedroom, and this scent evokes the feelings of meditations I would have in that room. It is refined and intoxicating, and I agree with Nighty Night that it is niche but certainly signature material.
