Paradise Lost (Clarimonde Perfume Project)

I can't believe no one has reviewed this. Paradise Lost is the best perfume Dawn Spencer Hurwitz has ever made, in my opinion, and she's made some great ones. And it's competitive with all the high end niche fragrances, including the Robert Piguet scents, the MFK scents, Memo leathers, and any number of Tom Ford ouds etc. Regardless of what accords are listed, it's absolutely not sweet. It's lush and floral but there isn't one gooey drop in it. I have no idea what surf wax smells like, and I don't recall that in DSH's website description (sorry, I didn't check before starting this). It's definitely a floral oriental, with lots of orris and amber, and I suspect patchouli. I think there's more violet than just in the top notes. I sprung for the parfum and it's a rich syrupy mixture, but not sweet, at least not in the fruity gooey sense; no fruit at all. It lasts on my skin about 7 hours, with drydown starting about hour 4 usually. As I recall the mini edp sample I had first had most of these same qualities, so worthwhile if you want to start with the cheaper version too.
