Piment et Chocolat

I find with most of Dawn's fragrances that I need to allow my nose to "warm up" to them. With this one I started out as somewhere between liking and being indifferent to it, and then within a few weeks of sampling I ended up buying a small bottle. I struggle with body temperature affecting my perception of fragrances. I run quite cool, yet most of my favorites suit warm weather (and skin). Piment et Chocolat, at last, is excellent for the cold. The smooth, gentle spice is quite warming, and the chocolate misses Ovaltine territory, instead appearing a very luxurious cup of hot cocoa. While not really sweet, it's sweet enough. There is no bitterness, rather this approaches being a "savory" gourmand. It also manages to narrowly escape a certain sourness that I could see it veering towards on someone else's chemistry. No way will this one work on everybody, but I am a fan.

I absolutely love this scent, but only when the weather is right. It's spicy and dark but doesn't have any overtly chocolate notes (what is there is subtle enough to not be recognizable). It's currently my go-do winter scent and it's great when the air is dry. Mid-winter I receive compliments whenever I wear it. But the second the weather warms up to more than 50 degrees, and humidity levels rise even a bit, then the perfume suddenly becomes intolerable. It becomes a sickeningly sweet, and this makes it extremely difficult to wear during months with transitional weather.

Savory, spicy, pepper, cacao. I use the perfume oil roll-on and love it. I appreciate how close this sits to the skin. Comforting and projects a warm but mysterious aura.

Well...love this!!! A really nice take on mexican chocolate. The first thing I notice is cinnamon and what must be really dark dry chocolate because it helps the scent not turn into a total spice bomb. The chocolate lends, well I hate to use the word "sweetness", because this is definitely not a sweet fragrance but the chocolate does lend a hint of sweetness to the cinnamon. The pepper and paprika are amazing!!! Really a treat for the senses!!! This is almost smokey because of the cloves and the pepper but not a bon fire. Just a nice lazy haze trailing along in the background. I will check back later and add an edit about longevity. I think this is gorgeous and would be an amazing addition for the woman who prefers things a little spicy & a little smokey with just a hint of chocolate!!! If the longevity is decent I will absolutely be ordering a bottle!!! I can not compare to L'Artisan because I haven't tried that one yet. That sample is on its way.

Chilies chocolate cloves, and most likely cloves chilies with hints of chocolate. As it calms down i start to smell peppers and nutmeg as the milk goes mild and i start to smell cinnamon as well. This could be a naughty fragrance but more of a pepper and chilies chocolate flavor.

This is not bad, however it really isn't my style of scent. The pepper is not as strong as L'Artisan's Piment Brulant (in the opning anyway) and it's more blended with the choc notes. However this is not soemthing I can see myself wearing.
