Vert et Noir

A green scent that starts off with a lot of pepper, then mellows with licorice and other green notes. I do wish the pepper was turned down a bit in the heart because it’s overpowering some of the softer notes like the melon, basil, cucumber.... and celery which I can’t detect. I like it but it’s not a love.

The licorice, melon, and celery/cucumber notes are the most noticeable in this for me. If you like those scents, this perfume has nice lasting power and smells very pure and natural. However, this isn't for me. I got this sample based on the promise of "crisp, brilliant green," and I just don't get much of that. I've sampled a number of DSH's "green" scents now, including this, Le Jade, Agrestic, and Sud de France, and I just don't get any greenery. Something about my nose or body chemistry picks up only the herbal, dusty, or sharp notes.

VeN certainly has a lot of notes! Obviously this is a very green scent that has a bit of pepper that remains throughout quite a bit of the fragrance. It’s backed by a wood and patchouli base. On a test strip, there’s a green and woody opening with a bit of sweetness, which I think is the melon. It sort of gives off a general air of vegetation. After a few minutes, the pepper makes its appearance, but I still have that sort of basic celery/cucumber/melon, vegatative mix alongside an earthy musk and oakmoss. After awhile, the pepper does down and what remains is (what seems to me) an off-putting mix of melon and patchouli. Received as a sample. Good quality fragrance, but not my cup of tea.
