Vintage Patchouly

I like nearly all of DSH’s fragrances, so it’s no surprise that I love Vintage Patchouly. The patchouli is definitely an important player, but doesn’t dominate the composition. It’s balanced by the rose, the rosewood and the sandalwood, which I almost always get in the top notes as well as the base. The sillage is a clear and pure patchouli scent, but closer to the skin, the main attraction is a beautiful, rich amber. The scent lasts all day. Patchouli is one of those scents that it’s easy to overdo, but the balance in VP is perfect. If I had the budget and space for a FB, I would buy one. If you like patchouli, I highly recommend that you try VP.

I have had this for 10 years and still come back to it. Opens with a rich and deep tobacco, blooms into a beautiful rosewood/patchouli. I don't get the other wood notes of sandalwood and cedar which is fine by me. The reference to a wooden chest packed with patchouli leaves is fitting, slight mothball vibes in the best way. Dries down to a gorgeous patchouli powder. My second favorite patchouli next to Francesca Bianchi Sticky Fingers.

Well, this scent may appeal to some but NOT to someone looking for an aged, sweet, pure patchouli smell. Whatever the dominant note is in this, it isn't patchouli or at least a patchouli that I care for. I think it appropriate to say that the dominant scent from the votes is some sort of musk, but I would say its not a sweet or pleasant musk but rather something chemically and foreign. That said, I am more of a fan of the gourmand, sweet, vanilla, deep patchouli scents. I DO plan on trying some more DSH scents as they are so cheap but I have a hard time thinking that most people would like this one.

Smells like a wooden chest. Very faint patchouli, more wood smelling than patchouli leaves smelling. It’s not terrible, but I personally wouldn’t call it a “full bodied patchouli perfume.” Not very long lasting in this hot (100 degrees F) weather.
