He Wood Ocean Wet Wood

REALLY? Another HE WOOD...and an aquatic woody to boot?!? Just when I was thinking I was "over" the whole aquatic thing and would (quite literally) scream if I saw another silly flanker, DSQUARED comes out with this beauty! On reading the PR, I have to admit it sounded intriguing, but after looking at the notes I was skeptical. There IT was; that "marine note" (a fancy way of saying "calone"!) again. I put off trying this for a long time, but when Kristo sent me a sample vial, as a gift, I thought "Well, now I guess I HAVE to try it"...and I am so glad I did. This opens with a very SHEER marine feel, actually more "oceanic" (as in cool and moist, like a fine sea spray) than fruity and watery. The artemisia (more of tarragon type aroma, than a BITTER wormwood) beside the sunny golden amber really makes this opening rather different from most woody aquatics. The heart notes of a very clean musk drizzled over sweet, yet dry, violets and their luscious green leaves makes the nose on this guy "happy"! Without the usual bright citrusy opening or warm soapy flowers, WET OCEAN WOOD keeps it watery, yet "woody", without getting you soaked with calone. It is like the tide's going out and lapping at your feet while you sit on a huge piece of driftwood on a sandy shore. An elegant, refined alternative to the usual choices in this genre. I find the dry down to be more oriental than the two previous releases in this line, with vetiver standing out the most; followed by cedar and the subtle undercurrent of tonka beans and patchouli. I am not surprised that Alberto Morillas had a hand in this; as it is modern and warm with a subtle green aura and a sheer elegance, and skillfully done. Sillage: very good Longevity: good Overall: 4/5 Delightful indeed, and nowhere near generic...every time I think I know what is coming down the "perfumed pike"; Dan and Dean make me think again! So far they have me with HE Wood in the springtime, Rocky Mountain in the Fall...and now Wet Ocean in the summer. I can only hope (and pray) that Silver Wind Wood will be fit for Winter wear and round out my DSQUARED year. I feel I must thank Kristo, yet again, for opening my mind (and nose) to something I had written off as boring or "blah" before ever even smelling it. My humblest gratitude for keeping me on my toes, and for helping me to remember that a closed mind is a narrow mind!

Now this new perfume puzzles me. It's a strange yet beautiful mixture of violet, vetiver and powdery yet airy accords. It could be easily branded as "Air" (from Kenzo) if this perfume wouldn't exist. "Wet Wood" is rather minimal: you will detect the airy freshness from the original old brother without the wet aquatic accord. Instead, you'll get here a rare yet uplifting dimension of freshness, nearly industrial, ozonic, pure and being honest, asepthic, just like a quiet walk through the sea side with no sound and no smell, neither flower blossoms scent in the air nor seaweed; just a fresh wind stroking your face with a litte trail of ocean breeze made for a computer. You get the violet leaf and the violet blossom depurated to the maximum tending to become as a slightly turquoise talc powder-like scent with a light touch of salty vetiver and splashes of patchouli and musk in the drydown. The result is rather fascinating. There's freshness surrounded of a salty vetiver-like-talc powder. Weird, right? It is indeed, but worth sample it, just to enjoy the olfative experience. On the other hand, it is a very timid perfume with an lower average long lasting and neutral sillage. If you are looking for an excellent aquatic, for the same price, I would rather buy "Kenzo pour Homme" or "Bvlgary Aqva" both masterpieces with a much better projection and pressence. Oh, well. What can I do?. I always feel weak regarding classics.

This is a great woody marine fragnance. When I wear it I imagine myself I was on raft got wet in middle of clear turquoise blue sea with white beach. Top notes you can feel marine and violet, base notes you can feel vetyver and patchouli. (My favourite fragnance) Scent: 8.5/10 Sillage: 6.0/10 Longevity: 8.0/10 Odunsu deniz kokusu. Kullandığımda kendimi beyaz sahilli turkuaz bir denizin ortasında deniz suyuyla ıslanmış bir salda hissediyorum, o andaki rüzgarı tenimde hissediyorum. Açılışta deniz ve menekşe kokusu, alt notalarda vetiver ve paçuli kokusunu hissedebiliyorsunuz. Favori parfümüm! Çok bilindik bir koku değil, kullanıp da çakma parfüm üreticilerinin göz tacı etmeyin :)

Beautiful summer scent. Begins as a somewhat generic aquatic, but soon settles into a linear, yet complex damp woody violet comfort food of a fragrance. Projects well and lasts 8+ hours. Solid daytime scent for anyone under 35, and well worth the current price of $25 for a 100ml tester. Very neat looking bottle too, but of course that's just the cherry on top.

this smells really good, a great summer fragrance. But I recognicse the smell from some other cologne that i cant put my finger on, Despite its familarity it smells really good and it projects like a torpedo. Great smell if you want people to notice you. great for outdoors!

this kind of perfume`s are absolute compliment getter in my country Philippines....like bvlgari aqua,aqu di gio....i wear this d2 wet wood when i was there and of course compliment every where....

a very nice fragrance, soft and delicate. The violet and woodsy note are easily detectable, very fresh and suitable for young men.

It's very aquatic and spice scent "singular" i don't know anything similar.

This is an interesting one. Two notes dominate the fragrance and they are violet and artemesia. The violet is of the sweeter, watery variety, perhaps a shade purple and wet. The artemesia is distinct, deeply herbal, but not bitter--it's oddly sweet, breezy, and soft. Ocean Wet Wood is not your standard aquatic. It's quite distinct, and provides none of the sharp citrus qualities that have become standard in the genre. This is like a warm marine breeze in the morning, kind of damp and possessing the freshness of a new day, a trace of cool air passing through it. There's no fishiness or rotting vegetation here, but there's isn't any of that "super aquatic" synthetic stuff happening either. And that's part of what makes it unique. Aquatics tend to fall among the two extremes--realistic impressions of the ocean, including some of the smells one would associate with low-tide, and fantastical interpretations of water, extremely blue and clear and bright. Some succeed and some don't. But Ocean Wet Wood has its own lane. I don't think it's something you'd find in nature, but it feels natural, like it should be there and might be....somewhere. Of course explaining how something smells is tough. Especially when it's pretty unique. This one comes to me in colors--violet, purple, a light blue swathe cutting through it, soft greens weaving in and out, a gray haze passing by. It's cool, aromatically sweet, and kind of unusual. At the same time, it's very pleasant to wear, and will certainly stand out from the crowd. Sample this if you can. At the very least you'll try something you haven't smelled before. As for me, I enjoy it very much and for some reason find it the perfect aquatic to wear on a rainy day. Final thought: If Narciso Rodriguez for Him had an aquatic summer flanker, it might be something like Ocean Wet Wood.

"Rant" but no "Rave". “Ocean” is more a sketch, than a fully rendered seascape: It's simply a log macerating in a pond of violet and artemisia: Should have been called "Oasis Wet Wood". Done ! It's simple, and it's linear; and as such, I like it a lot. "Marketing" should have stopped there. But to call it "Ocean"? That just brings up a whole new set of expectations. This is barely "seashore". As far as "flankers" go, it's somewhat disappointing. If "Rocky Mountain Wood" painted a different portrait of the original HeWood, "Ocean" simply scribbled a mustache on him and called it a day. Essentially adding calone to the original isn't doing much. In fact, the biggest disappointment here is that “ocean" accord. Which comes off as stagnant and murky- missing the action of the sea. I blame it on the earthy patchouli - which dulled, and grounded the "ocean" idea. Alberto Morillas is usually formidable. But if he's responsible for the "Ocean" part of this fragrance like I suspect, then he's sleeping on the job. Daphne Bugey should have called Jacques Cavallier, instead. To partner-up her HeWood with his beautifully vivid ocean in Bvlgari Aqua pour homme. The result could have been my new "signature". As things stand... I still like it. But don't love it. *Sighhhh...* Longevity:9/10 (in base) Projection (summer temperatures):8/10 (in mid) Art/Creatives: 7/10 (concept and scent execution only-bottle stays status quo in this series) How: casual, work or play, summer, spring, alone and picking lint out of your navel.

Ridiculous name, great scent. All of the He Wood series share about half of their DNA - this is definitely the most summery of the bunch as it is quite a bit more aquatic than the others. The heart of this is still a powerful violet and wood combo that is ever-present and accented by a gentle salty mist. The woody aspect of this is also dressed up with a "wet" feeling - it is still synthetic in nature, but it is the same effect as splitting a log that is dry versus one that is wet - it alters the aromatic quality of the wood ever so slightly. As time goes by, the fume gets rather "perfumey" on my skin as the violet is heavily accented and present in a very feminine way - it smells beautiful but it may not be for everyone. I enjoy violets immensely, so this is definitely my cup of tea! There is also a "ocean wind" sort of note that is present throughout as well - not so much a "wet wood" or "ocean note" as much as it is an ocean breeze blowing certain aromatic elements trough a nearby violet forest. It becomes more of a woody musk in the end but it is always pleasantly aromatic and slightly aquatic! May all of your work weeks have a light at the end of the tunnel! I got this through the post yesterday. At first spray the smell is not very distinct and not the best. After it 'settles' then you can really notice the true smell. I thought it smells like a mature version of Hollister - Break Line (not on this database). It projects quite well but nothing like Paco - 1 Million or the other power houses. It isn't a strong smelling scent either which I feel goes with the smell of it, so no complaints. My only slight complaint is with longevity. It lasts about 4-5 hours, I thought I'd get more than this. I would recommend this to people looking for a solid summer scent. Its fresh and you really do notice the woods coming through after a while. Results: Scent: 7.5/10 Sillage: 7.5/10 Longevity: 6/10 EDIT: I had a skin reaction to this, which is a great shame. So maybe just try it first? I am a bit strange so might just be me haha.

Ocean Wet Wood is good, but has no personality. It is ideal if you need a discrete fragrance for working. Longevity and projection are moderate. I would say it is unisex: I gave my bottle to my wife, it worked better in her skin than in mine. It has some salt, but there is no feeling of 'ocean' in it. We feel 'wet wood', but no ocean smell. For those who want marine perfumes, I think it's much much better try Bvlgari Aqva/Aqva Marine or Nautica Voyage. I sprayed Nautica Voyage in arm and Ocean Wet on the other. Clearly Nautica is more masculine, stronger and has more personality.

This cologne has a light woodsy/marina scent which makes it a perfect summer fragrance. After it dries back you can smell the deep herbal (Artemisia) scent combined with Amber and Violet Leaf which makes it a good masculine outdoorsy scent. This cologne is a real nice change from most summer colognes...there isn't any lemon or orange notes. The wooden frame of the cologne reflex's the beauty of nature !!!! DEQUARED2 created a unique men's cologne a REAL MUST HAVE!!!!!! Longevity is 8/10 Sillage is 7/10 Overall is 8.5/10

My bias expectations had me comparing it to the original, which saw me dissappointed, but thats not really fair is it? The original is magnificent, so sopleasant and easy to wear, has awesome sillage and doenst kill people nearby. Ocean Wet wood is good, not quite THAT good, but if you can get it cheap, try it out. Essentially,its an aquatic version that loses the thick, banana-woody quality and goes for a marine freshness over the orinal flaker's rainforrest freshness.

A smell that is perfect for day out at the beach! It has a very strong sea water note that stays all the time. A pretty linear perfume, not so complex with a touch of vetiver and patchouli so it's very refreshing! Overall: 6.5/10 Edit: I can now smell the violets... But, it took them a while...

A super fresh scent sitting on a woody base with a hint of sweetness. In the same vein as Lalique L'Hommage as an ultra safe scent. Good for casual/office wear. Very non offensive and has decent performance. Best for warmer weather and more appropriate for daytime wear.

The name and bottle really give you a good idea of what "Ocean Wet Wood" smells like: aquatic and woody. The two notes are balanced out quite nicely. Works great in the summer heat.

Very similar to Pascal Morabito Or Black 2014 to my nose. It has the same dominant violet and musk notes. Very dry. Not in love yet...

i appreciate the previous tow version. of wood, but not this one , i thought sea water will make it nice , but it sound make it worse no much word for it, nothing special , lasting is ok.

I love everything I've smelled so far from this house, so I felt safe blind buying it for my husband- but oh my gosh- it is so sharp and detergent-y- back it went- I'm so disappointed...

Why do the great ones always get discontinued? I had been eyeing a bottle of Ocean Wet Wood for a while because violet is my favourite note, and I'm always eager to try one of Alberto Morillas' creations. Unfortunately, the eBay price tag on even a 50ml bottle of this stuff is just too steep for even an avid collector, such as myself. Last week though, I was extremely lucky to come across a bottle on Kijiji. A fellow fragrance enthusiast was thinning out his collection, and I was able to pick up a 100ml bottle for $20. Obviously, I didn't hesitate to pull the trigger. Now having tried the stuff, I can say that Ocean Wet Wood is almost worth the exorbitant prices it goes for on eBay, with the emphasis on 'almost'. Ocean Wet Wood is a mix between Axe Peace body wash and a Fahrenheit summer flanker. I mean this in the best possible way. The Fahrenheit vibe is due to the heavy dose of violet, but the strong violet never comes off like petrol or gasoline the way old-school Fahrenheit did. My only complaint is that the dry down is a little too synthetic, but that's generally par for the course when you're dealing with a Morillas fragrance. At the end of the day, Ocean Wet Wood is one of the best in my collection, and a must-have for violet lovers. Just don't take out a loan in order to buy a bottle. ;)

From a fragrance collectors point of view I want one of these He Wood bottles so bad just to have in my collection. I love woody fragrances but there's just something really wrong with the opening of these fragrances. To be fair they're all about the base notes and how they dry down but if the opening and first hour or two is awful then it just puts me off. This one is a real offender in this department, an astringently harsh paint thinner, turpentine type of a vibe in the opening. I love violet accords in various guises but this is all wrong! My girlfriend said it reminded her of ..."a damp wood working tool shed." and I thought...I wish it reminded me of that! I'd take that over what I got from it...I surpose you keep turps in your shed so maybe that was it? Anyway...gets woodier and better in the dry down and I get the wetness of wood that it's supposed to have but it's not sexy or weird like an Encre Noire. Don't like it...such a shame.

Okay....So I've revised my opinion on the He Wood range of fragrances especially this one as the others didn't irk me as much as Ocean wet wood. I just generally had a problem with the harsh, unnatural opening which to me went against what I considered to be the aim of the brand, I mean what could be more natural than wood? I don't like the misuse of the word 'synthetic' particularly as it displays a lack of understanding about modern perfumery but when used convey a 'cheapness' I understand the sentiment and to me this used to apply to this fragrance. However, I've changed my mind somewhat and the drydown and base notes of these woody fragrances are what they're all about. Wet wood is the most mellow and aquatic of the lot in actual fact with a milder violet accord from the original. I've taken it off my hate list anyway can't believe I was so offended by it in the first place? I put it down to olfactory fatigue and a badnoseday!

The warmer days of Spring have arrived and I am enjoying wet wood. I bought this before I got into L 'Artisan and niche fragrances, and wasn't so impressed with wet wood as I am now. I was hyping Calvin Kliene's men's Reveal fragrance as being one of the best designer new frags, and then it got cloyingly to sweet and got rid of it. Wet wood is a lot like Reveal , but dryer less sweet. Wet wood has some very interesting and enjoyable crisp green notes, it has a nice colone / aquatic accord that reminds me of melon and banana smell. So it's not so citrusy as fruity. Wet Wood is unique and enjoyable, crisp and refreshing Summertime scent. I think I'm starting to like it more than He Wood Rocky Mountain that has poor performance although the scent is great, a great woody floral. Silage and longevity are above average for Wet Wood. Good scent, but nothing new. It reminds me of Quartz Silver (the 1st that came into my mind) and lots of other fresh/marine colognes. I think that the most intriguing part of this cologne is the beginning, in which it shows a smell of wet wood – I believe it must be the result of the amber as one of the top notes + violet + violet leaves in the heart. I really like the He Wood bottles, just for being simple and masculine. And, when I think as a collector, I think it is nice to have an entire line of similar bottles, giving that impression of “Oh My God! You have all He Wood Collection”. It is exactly what I feel about Caron, Solo Loewe, Cool Water, etc. Until now, I have already felt 3 of them and, in my opinion, the traditional is the best. This one has a good lasting and a medium projection.

IMO this is one of the best mass market marine fragrances of the past 3 years (and anyway that's not enough). Ocean Wet Wood is quite a minimal fragrance where marine notes are joined by a spices and woods I can't really resist. Kinda unique and at the same time not too flashy, distinctive but somehow ordinary. I like it as I think it's not easy at all to create a well balanced perfume suitable for almost everybody in a range between 18y/o and 30y/o . Nothing special and a bit too "superficial" but pleasant. Perfect for a 20 years old guy as on older guy I guess it may turns ridicolous. Rating: 7/10

this is not bad-a pleasant and soft fragrance that really appeals to my nose a lot.I love its quiet nature but even though I havent used this for long I can see it as not lasting on my skin without over-spraying. will be suitable for evening or cold days where I believe this scent can truly be appreciated. I still will take Rocky Mountain over this any time any day but this will be ok only am guessing all the DSquared range/line smell similar.

It's quite soft overall, especially when you get to the drydown, which has a kind of creamy effect. It's a little sweet, a little aquatic, a little... You get the idea. It's not too "synthetic" to me and it would be a fine moderate to warm weather office scent, but I don't see the aficionado having much interest in it. I intend to put my 50 ml of it on my swap list, so hopefully someone who can use this will be happy with it.

Light, sensual, fresh and green scent for me. Remind me a lot of CK Truth Men crossed with Euphoria. Projection is ordinary, longevity is great. It makes me think of fresh green cut grass with a seaside view, feels just the right note to calm, rest and relax; imagine a vacation near a nice tropical beach! I like this one a lot, good compliments from others. 7/10 from me. A must try if you are CK Truth and Euphoria lover!

A nice little gem in my opinion; very natural as the name implies. Even if you've got a few water/ocean scents already don't be afraid to pick this one up, because it stands on its own -- Fendi Acqua may be the one exception. If you're still unsure, I would encourage you to click the name Alberto Morillas in the description above. He's great at creating light scents without sacrificing complexity.

Violet leaf aquatic. Simple as that. If you don't like violet leaf, stay far away. My nose is very sensitive to violet leaf, and I don't like it unless it's done right (Green Irish Tweed, Gucci Pour Homme II), and unfortunately it's not my kinda violet leaf here. I had a bottle and then gave it to my friend Anup, so expect his review shortly after, if not immediately after this one.

As a fan of the original and Rocky Mountain, this is a clean pleasant spring/summer fragrance. Clean aquatic salty sea spray notes mixed with wood and a violet accord. Longevity is good as is the sillage. Ideal if you like your aquatics.

I think this is a wonder opening for someone who is put off by the petrol vibe but wants to like fahrenheit. Not comparing the two after the opening! Okay, so anyway it's a beauty for the money. A little fire on the beach kinda night.

Am I the only one who think that it is similar with Bvlgari Aqva Marine? Both are aquatic fragrances with salt/ocean note. If you want to buy this kind of perfume, all you have to do is just choose which perfume-house you like best.

Smells like the ocean, this is my favourite DSQUARED fragrance. It is very strong and intoxicating for an aquatic, with average longevity
