He Wood

Perfumer. Daphne Busey: Countains: ozone, white fir, vegetal amber, musk, aquatic notes, violet blossoms and leves, vetiver and cedarwwod. I fell inlove straight away when first sniffed, but, ey!, there was something about it that reminded me other well known juice straight away, so I decided to experiment and wait for reactions. I made sniff my neck to every single friend of mine. Conclusion: They thought it was KenzoAir with an aquatic nuance, just like me. I was not they only one though. Both colognes share vetiver and cedar. I'm a fan of KenzoAir, but I have to admit this a way better cologne in my opinion. He wood is a minimal fragrance: a dreamscape of a light scent of a forest breeze near a lake. It provides a new step on “wood” accords— it's smooth, bleached woods floating on sweet, cool, lightly flower-scented water. Starts kind of aquatic and ozonic, definitively synthetic but pure, just like a whisper, but with presence. So many people has remarked that the initial burst is alcohol like, but to my nose is like watery fresh clean cut light wood, a similar smell of a paper manifactured factory with a liquid quality.. The fir here it's no very evident, but, in a few minutes the perfume gets personality and body, I smell violet leaf, a beautiful violet flower note, mild vetiver and water notes that blends beautifully with the vetiver and cedar. There's altrough a nice ambient of forest and the previous watery soft accord remains gorgeous in the background. It develops gorgeous and heady above yourself. It doesn't project grandly, but it's enough noticiable. This is a dream of perfume, it's just the same atmosphere as KenzoAir without the aniseed. It's funny how completely opposite essences can share close similarities. He Wood is an alive dream, the scent of how a fairy forest would smell like. A new solution for those that like light woody fragrances with a different touch. The longevity is average. No more than 4 hours.

I wrote before people ́s opinions is one of those criteria to take into account when choosing a fragrance...another one certainly is what we think about it... I believe all this debate began because innapropriate and generalizing comments like these: "Seriously, people wear or like fragances because girls love it ??? There are a lot of people withou nothing of personality... I supose that they are kids going to the college. :D:D)" as I said as well..generalizing always implies a bit of injustice and that comment was a bit too much for those like me...who take into account what people think and other ́s opinions..., if not...what the f. are we doing in fragantica...?...at least I am here cause opinions and advices do care.... one question...will you buy again and use with ease something your wife,girlfriend or people around you hate...?, if so...maybe yes...maybe I may have serious a lack of character and self-confidence have all a nice smelling or bad smelling day...

There are some perfumes that “hit the nail on the head”, which are easy to please men and women and are suitable for most environments and situations. He Wood is one of them! The output is deliciously loaded with violets. A potent floral that exhales and stays on the skin for about an hour. Then, the evolution begins to happen and wood and vetiver come into action, in a very “forestry” way, with something between the smell of damp trees, after a rainy day, and many shades of green. And to close in a more comfortable way, a delicious amber, which gives the sensation of softness to the fragrance. I saw many international reviews comparing it to Kenzo Air. I have this one too, but I think whoever mentioned this perfume did not know L’Eau Par Kenzo Indigo. This one is much more similar to He Wood at the end of evolution when we are left with only the final accord that permeates the rest of the hours in our skin. I really liked it!

Dear jmansar I believe is pretty logical MEN wear fragrances women like...I believe it could be instead pretty weird if we took into account the opinion of baboons, buttleflies or even WORSE...the opinion of other MEN to make our selection if we still believe we belong to the human race...decisions in life have multiple criteria nature, if the criteria women's opinion has a smaller value for you in the selection, for others it's simply bigger...why would I wear cartier declaration d'un soir, 24 gold, bulgary black or encre noir if my wife, friends and even strangers will dislike it...at the end?...do we want to smell good or bad?....for the last option save some money in fragrances and start skipping your daily bath...

I bought it a couple of years ago, as a gift for my ex boyfriend. He never liked it though, and since it reminded me of a unisex scent, I used it. On me the violet really comes through, but without being heavy, and it has a nice wooden finish. Somebody said: confident and strong, and I can only agree to that. It has a gentle strength to it, but is still on the feminine side (on my skin). After a while it doesn't really smell like perfume anymore, it blends really well with the skin and leaves a : I have been outside in the forest all day- freshness. :)

I love the smell and the concept, I tend to ignore concepts, but this is a fresh, natural creation which feels relaxed. This makes me think of the cool, wet patch of a gorgeous swampland my brother and I found as kids, there was this odd, thick grass covering the tough, lumpy soil. I had no idea what the grass was called, all I knew was that it was the softest, coolest place to lay during summer. I could have sworn banana wood was in there, but my girlfriend says she can smell cucumber. Still, it's a beautiful scent. Up in my top 5

Dear jmansar not sure if I understood what you said but ok...remember that generalizing always brings a bit of injustice...and yes...I declare myself guilty, I like to smell good and not like rubber, cement or semem....if you believe taking people ́s opinion on sth is a sign of insecurity or lack of personality..then I believe we see 2 different worlds and even when I tend to respet people ́s opinion...., I do believe I live in the right one, have a good smelling day man and keep smelling as you want even if nobody likes it...

sheer brilliance, original, refreshing, outdoorsy..mix of pure wood smell in forest and saw dust with violets up top...clean and masculine.for outdoor activities like logging, camping,hiking, work, trekking...this is an ideal scent.in the summers day it lasts 4/5 hours...but in cooler spring days i got up to 7 hours...projection isnt bad also...this sits right behind rocky mountain wood for me...so good to smell....not synthetic or cheap...niche quality juice. 8.5/10 for me.a must try

Expectations are always coupled with disappointments when they are not met! That's why I always allow fragrances to surprise me,as a result,I love and like everything in my collection. This scent is great,violets and wet or green wood similar to what you would get pruning a lush green tree branch. The wood is there,just not as dry as we're accustomed to in perfumery. Wonderful performance, very uplifting scent. This is aromatherapy, isn't this the reason why we are fragrance junkies?

Great elegant fragrance that ́s easily loved by most of the people around me...girls...love it...it is really something than can be easily blindbought and you would not possibly be dissapointed...great scent.... longevity 7/10 projection 7/10 smell 9/10 uniqueness 9/10 compliments...8/10.. it is really like a SOLID 8/10 in my book...good work on this one!!!! even when it is more linear than rocky mountain...the normal nose would pick this over that one..specially girls

I bought it as a gift for my Husband, who loves Lalique perfumes. I wanted a bit of change in his perfume wardrobe and this Dsquared Wood smells gorgeous. This perfume is a long-lasting green-woody fragrance ; quite of a masculine, strong scent. I personally can smell the vetiver, the fir and the cedar above all. I did not notice much the violet. It's there, but to me, it's definitely not the most noticeable note. It's a very pleasant one. It was a real success!

So sorry they discontinued this. And a genuine unisex fragrance that some women could pull off, though it's not feminine to my nose. Until now it's my all time favorite woody fragrance. It really smells to me like wood, but in a tuxedo. Or rather, what wood should smell like. Refined, pure, pristine. My first encounter with ISO super and I enjoyed it so much! Unfortunately it goes for 100-200 USD if you can find a genuine bottle being scalped on E-bay.

Just bought a back up bottle. Big Big love for me and under the radar for sure. One of my favourites and a quintessential fall fragrance for me. Definitely niche quality. Longevity is incredible on me, 12+ hours, and projection is moderate . I get a lot of compliments on this one. One of my most complimented frags. I will always have a bottle of this one.

Absolutely love this! Got my partner a bottle 4 years ago. He repurchased it 3 times in a 100ml. Used to be such good value, lasts super long. To me it smells like a summer meadow, surrounded by magical woods, mountains, rivers... its my favourite masculine daytime fragrance ever! Why would they discontinue it? :(

Comfort in a bottle. Something about the He Wood DNA just satisfies me in a fundamental way. A floral, woody everyday reach. Not the sweetest, not the loudest, but maybe one of the most fascinating. Such a shame this line was discontinued. Very grateful to have recently found an affordable 100ml of this.

I love D'Squared He Wood! The first time I took a sniff of it, I just had to get it right then & there. It's a very cool yet sophisticated scent. You can use it on those easy days & on special occasions. It's one of my favorites & one of those scents that I'll never grow tired of.

Had plenty of compliments after wearing this fragrance. It is a nice mixture of dry woods, violet leaves, with a light powdery finish. The vetiver and cedar in the middle notes are very long lasting. This is perfect for the cold season. This has very good longevity. A good 9/10

One of my favorites. On me the wood is definitely the most potent note. The violet is behind the well balanced amber both of which are a distant 3rd to the other woodsy notes. I am a big fan of this one. I absolutely must try all the others in this line up. among my favorites.

i love it the time i smelled it, "the reason i blind buy it`s flunkers "one thing is missing the ocean wet wood i couldn't find it here in tokyo to sad for that...any way the scent smells like armani code the closes i can think because of the powdery kick of it..

Wood Fragrances, piece of wood. If you love about smells of wood, u must have it. I love it. This one have a great theme to relaxing user. But my wife almost hate this fragrance smells, LOL. Recommended 9/10

On me, this fragrance work so longative! (more than 8 hours stayed on me) with match of this and my body's chemistry makes the new experience!! 8.5/10 plus 0.5 because of wood's venier around the bottle ^^

I recall meeting a guy that was wearing this fragrance. I fell in love with the perfume right away. I just found it fantastic, in a way dreamy, simple yet intriguing!!

When they discountinued and reformulated this, I was frankly destroyed as I went through at least 20 bottles of it :-( memorable woody masculine scent, RIP

My absolute preferred scent. Very sofisticated. I really miss it since discontinued. Original wood is a resemblance.

Allow me to start this review by thanking my good friend KRISTO for the gift of not only a spray sample of THIS scent, but its two subsequent flankers and a bevy of others I was dying to try! *BIG HUG, Bro!* DSQUARED2 is a company that makes pretty pricey clothes with a casual "outdoorsy" feel. They "look" lived in and once you try them...you WANT to live in them. They are really that comfortable and well-made. Their fragrances (at least the men's ones) are pretty similar, all things considered. This opens with a sweet, wet sort of feeling; almost like walking through a forest after it has poured down rain. Lush green leaves still sparkle with drops of water, as the sun returns and sweet cool violets shake off the rain and begin to warm. I wanted to say I thought I smelled the sheer green wateriness of cucumber here, but that could just be a copperhead lurking in the underbrush. As the leaves and flowers fade, a bit, it does become quite woody with cedar's distinctive aroma and a very grassy vetiver, adding a bit of dry greenness. This IS really woody; yet somehow the violets linger, but are never "too much", adding only hints of floweriness nowhere near as powdery as DIOR Homme's violets are. A very nice (non-cloying) vegetal sweetness in a very thick wooden frame. No citruses, no herbs and no heavy spices...just woods and woody scents, thick leaves and just the right amount of floweriness. The drydown of fir (pine), amber and musk is intriguing. The pungent sharpness of the balsam fir is balanced by the warm amber's resinous scent and a musk I can only define as "not too funky" and none too clean...just right! HE WOOD has all the loveliness of the "woods", but none of the dirtiness or earthiness. This is not the scent of a man who lives in and off the land, but one who appreciates its beauty and cannot help but sigh with wonder when standing on a cliff and breathing in the panorama of Nature's untouched beauty. Thank you to Dan and Dean (the Catenacci twins who ARE DSQUARED), this is great!! Sillage: average Longevity: good Overall: 3.75/5 My very first impression of this was actually NR for Him goes hiking! It has a very subtle manly beauty that is less musky and spicy, and far more relaxed and "natural" feeling. HE Wood is a comfortable, down-to-earth no nonsense kind of fragrance. It is not trying to impress anyone...and THAT impresses me. It rather simple in its construction, but it really is the simple things in life that make me the happiest. The smell of the rain on the forest, the green of Nature and the warmth of the sun and rustle of the leaves in the breeze. I really think these two boys are on to something here...

So I purchased He Wood blindly because my female coworker raved about it. As a matter of fact 90% of my fragrances are blind purchases :o( What about He Wood? Well, let me tell you what I get because I still don't know what certain notes smell like (accept tonka, amber and a couple of others). This smells like someone put a sweet glaze on a cucumber. This pretty much stays linear. It is sweet enough to be worn in colder weather but I honestly believe this is a spring maybe even warmer weather scent. It won't become cloying or overbearing in the heat, it may actually kick it up a notch. I am going to try it here on a summer day (TX) and see what I get. Some people get the whole woodsy vibe I don't know much about nature or hiking but I guess it can smell like a damp forest or the smell of dew in a nature park I guess. Yes, it smells wet, woodsy like a beautiful spring day bike trail riding. Anyway that translates to sweet cucumber to me. I like it lot the staying power is long just minimal projection after a couple of hours, I think you can get away with spraying a little extra, the scent doesn't seem like heavier applications would make it too strong to me.

A fresh, green and slightly minty opening greets you with only a small amount of wood; it reminds me of a household cleaning product but in the best possible way, or a higher-end men's toiletry scent: "Mountain Rush", or whatnot. As the sweetness and wetness recede, more wood comes to the fore, with a richly earthy, organic dirt undertone. I almost think it's too wet to be Rocky Mountain Wood, maybe Cascade Wood or Sierra Wood? It's a lot like the cheapo Stetson Sierra minus the rough edges...greenery (violet?) plus coniferous wood plus dirt. Still, like SS, I feel like He Wood isn't filling any of those roles terribly well...all of those components are a little *too* organic (i.e. rotten) and synthetic, and as unique as it is overall, it makes me think separately about my better green scents and my better wood scents. Still, because I'm so much more used to drier, warmer forests, I'm probably not the best judge of this alpine Canadian brew; it's definitely worth a try, as I'm sure its flankers are.

From a collection point of view I absolutely couldn't wait to try this and I've been waiting a long time too! I very nearly bought it blind but finally I found it to test and I'm kinda glad I did. I love woody fragrances and the assortment of notes in this is right up my street. As I mentioned as a collector it's a must have in terms of innovative bottle design and brand distinction. When I initially sprayed it I got what can only be described as an awful, muggy horrible note which I identified as being the same smell I disliked from Azzaro Decibel although the scents are quite different this element is unbearable for me. Thankfully, this smell is short lived and when it's gone you're left with an lovely woody scent, that is well balanced and smooth...just what I like. I also tried the Rocky Mountain wood and I have to say I preferred that as it has more strength and spice but this one is pleasant and I will definitely add both to my collection at some point.

this perfume is not expensive but have a high quality I describe this just one sentence it is gift of nature . simple but very fragrant in this perfume you can smell soft bitter and soft sweet in together . Purchased a sample vial from FragranceNet. Not at all what I expected. Judging by the name of the cologne you would think that this is a wood-forward fragrance with hints of other notes, but I don’t smell any wood at all.... If I do it’s very faint. Absolute violet bomb. Not exactly a bad thing as the leafy notes are very green and refreshing; the violet flower paired with the amber and musk round the scent out very nicely. Sillage is standard, nothing to ride home about and longevity is good. Stayed on me fairly strong for the duration of a work day plus an hour or so, give it 9 hours. Overall a pleasant experience even though it’s not at all what I thought it “wood” be (ok you can downvote me now) 8.3/10

This should be bought for just the bottle alone. I love the smell of outside during the spring early summer. Especially after a rain so clear and clean and pure. This hits that perfectly. The smell of a connifer forest after a light down pour in late April. Perfect way to smell like the season without bathing in flowery citrus smells. Masculine and clean without being soapy and floral. It's what the mountain man would smell like after bathing in fresh mountain stream, trimming his beard with a shard of flint, and combing his hair down with a branch of a fir tree he snapped off with his own manly hands. Probably won't get many compliments because it's so different but it's a great wear for self fragrance.

I can see why people have contradicting reviews over this perfume. I has to do with your skin and more than that, it has to do with the weather. This frag is highly dependent on the weather and dont ask me why, i dont know. The more the humidity in the air the better this frga shines. I have to agree that it's basically violet, but it's good. I rather enjoyed it... Try testing it in different weather conditions, you'll see what I mean. I do have to say that I enjoyed Rocky mountain wood better...

This is very pretty. It does not project, very soft and close to the skin. The violet and violet leaf dominate the opening and the are balanced by the vetyver in the mid. The cedar is also faint in the mid. Fir dominates the base. However, the fragance is soft, not loud, and close the skin after the openning. A beautifully balanced smooth fragrance throughout. Worth a trying if you are 30 and up. Younger people wouldn't like this. Also this is a man's fragrance but a woman could easily wear this.

I love this fragrance. Is not the best cologne i think so because it gives a simple scent. I love the woody scents and this is too ethistic for me. I can sniff my arm for 2hours with this. It reminds me fresh, cuted cedar wood being wet because of morning humitity in the middle of cedar forest full of violets. fresh wood-violets-water/wet Girls dont like it so much. Five girls in different situations said me that is not bad but is not something special like 1million or Brit Rythm.

why am i always reminded of Fahrenheit whenever I put either this fragrance or Rocky Mountain Wood on?I guess it must be the violets but all the same it's a good enough fragrance for me but still prefer Rocky Mountain which has more interesting notes and lasts a longer time on my skin even after ive had a shower. All the same I will give this a thumbs up though i can see not all will like the violets at play here.

Performance isn't terrible, it does lack a bit of diversity points, can't really see a good time to wear this honestly, maybe a wedding, if your NOT part of the grooms/bride lineup? It's nothing special, has OK performance, and is shadowed by alot of others. 6/10, good attempt at a floral woody scent, just seems like a selfish scent more then anything.

Изобщо не мога да кажа, че е кой знае колко забележителен. Къде им се привиждат тия виолетки, теменужки и пр. неща в коментарите по-долу - нямам представа. Купих го от Рим, и честно казано съжалявам за 65 Евро и 100 мл, поне да бяха 50 мл, че да свърши по-бързо... Не бих казал, че е нещо забележително. Роки Маунтейн, може би е по-добрият вариант!

I hated what I smelt initially but as it sat on my skin it turnd into something beautiful. it's absolutely fresh and calming. I wouldn't recommend it for closed settings though, I find it to be more suitable for outdoors. but it's really nice anyway, something unusual, you should give it a try, especially if you enjoy violets.

I like this fragrance to me it is semi sweet and woody and warm with violet leaves being the most dominant note but there is a big mistake that they added citrusy Vetiver it killed the composition. Although the Vetiver note settles down but to me the fragrance could be executed in a better way. Scent 9/10 Longevity 10/10

Looking at the bottle and reading its name, I thought this would be a dark woody fragrance. Boy, I was wrong! It's floral, light, clean and soapy. That is what I get from it. I like it, but I don't love it. Scent: 5/10 Longevity: 5/10 Projection 3/10

Very playful smell, great for all occasions, and also you can get it at a great price, I looked at the bottle and the price thinking this is going to smell cheap and fooled me this is a defiant must have in a collection.
