Celerio Elysium

Prices of Dumont perfumes are usually very steep which is why I tend to stay away BUT I happened to come across a terrific year-end sale on their website and was able to pick up a bottle of Celerio Elysium and Epic for US 27 each, which I think is fair. Anything more and I would rather buy the originals. Celerio Elysium is a fantastic version of Montabaco which in my opinion would be of interest to a mature individual. A must buy if priced low.

I had to delete my old reviews for this. After much struggle and debate, I feel like I can't recommend this for anyone looking for a Montabaco replacement for cheap. It does get very much into the realm of Montabaco, but it unfortunately is missing all of the best parts and seems to cover only the worst. There is a faint whisper of tobacco and leather. More of what you get are the aromatics and the juniper is far too heavy. It has most of the right components, but they are completely unbalanced and it just comes off as awkward and unappealing. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but if you need a Montabaco replacement on the cheap, the Dua version is much better. The Montagne one is decent but can be hard to find. There is no "cheap clone" of Montabaco that can really replace it. The closest thing would be Paradis de Sens Felicity which can be found for a little less than $100 if you really search high and low, but you can also find Montabaco Intensivo for $175 if you are vigilant, and the complete scent profile and performance of MI really does justify the price difference.

Celerio Elysium is not horrible but it was a disappointment. I was expecting an uplifting summer scent (not necessarily a freshie, mind you) but what I get from this is a flat, earthy scent. It reminds a bit of Lalique Ombre Noir, but the Lalique is much better overall. I hardly find myself reaching for the Lalique and I wouldn’t reach for the Celerio at all. After giving it a handful of chances, I had to sell it off. 3/5

All I can smell is Off! I've worn it several times and Off! is all I'm smelling.

It's very expensive for a clone, and it's not copying a super popular fragrance either. Just got it and to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. It smells very thin (common for woody fragrances) and the scent itself isn't the most appealing thing I have ever put to my nose. I get tobacco and juniper berries, mild sweetness and it's okay, but it's also boring, not mass appealing and doesn't project nearly enough to get compliments. It does last and the quality of the juice is fine but this one won't be setting any sales records any time soon. Will appeal to older men only because it smells old.
