Mystic Sunset

I got a decant of this beautiful fragrance along with BR540 in a mass sample grab. I immediately gravitated towards Mystic Sunset over BR540. Many say they are dupes but I completely disagree. It's less sickly sweet and has so much more depth and even some warmth in the dry down which I think comes from the cedar bass note-even though I don't get that from BR540 which also has cedar. Again I only have a .07ml so not a lot at all but the sillage isn't super great nor is it very long lasting but I love it so much I don't even mind. In my opinion I would wear this all year round but pulls more spring and summer for me. I just purchased a full bottle of this and I'm fairly certain after wearing it almost daily as I test it that this is going to become my signature scent.

I don't have BR540, so this is just a review of my experience with a sample of this perfume. I like it! It's definitely sweet, which I am fairly tolerant of. The weird metallic note in the middle is off-putting, but mild. This doesn't seem like a complex perfume to me, but I would reach for it on a gray day to cheer things up. Impressions over time: The first hit (other than alcohol) is fruity and quite sweet. I expected something green, but got berries and sugar. Ten minutes in, it mostly smells like sugar, with a buttery note that reminds me of caramel. At thirty minutes it still smells sweet, but there's also something a bit metallic-spicy-weird that's hard to identify. (Saffron, likely?) The dry down is the same an hour later. By two hours, all I can smell is undifferentiated sweetness and some powder, and it's a skin scent, where it remains until about hour four. I never got cedar.

Scent that bites you deep... Lighter version of "Baccarat rouge 540" can bite your imagination deep with wonderful composition that was created with inspiration about the sunset on the Tyrrhenian Sea from the Positano, Italy. Gorgeous views of the coastline can be enjoyed almost at every corner of that scenic city. Definitely unisex fragrance that can be enjoyed during night out and at your leisure time. One spray lasts awhile. I have numerous "Baccarat rouge" dupes and this one is the most pleasant of them all. Silage is very delicate and proper for evening wear.

It's a soft and lovely fruity/woody/sweet scent. Definitely somewhere between BR540 and St.Julep. I think out of the three I'd pick St. Julep to buy a fb because I feel like it has the most character and is more complex. But if you're looking for a BR540 dupe, I also validate everyone's comments below.

Ok let me tell you Im not a fan of BR540 but this stuff is YUMMY soooo much better, doesn't have that smothering quality that I also smell in cloud Is sexy, intense, interesting, I think I need a bottle.

In a nutshell, it is a twin-sister of the infamous BR540 indeed. Before covid, I found it very melted-sugary and I didn't pick up any iodine notes at all at first. In fact I've even reccomnded it to someone as an alternative for BR540. Now as I'm revisiting this scent after covid I find some resemblance to iodine antiseptic liquid. I still sence a bit of a dry sugarry sweetness here however. From a distance it smells like sugary mango, but closer you get to the spot of application, the more iodine it starts to smell. Saffron is waaay too strong here. The real saffron causes that strange sensation, it kind of scratches my nostril when I sniff it. I have very similar feelings with Mystic Sunset and any saffron scents. I didn't pick up any osmanthus. Conclusion: the price is far from being accessible, but if you compare the size and the price ratios Mystic sunset is definately a better deal. I'm not a huge fan of utterly sweet scents in genaral, so this would be a miss for me.

It is BR540! But a little more floral, in a vague sort of way-- the base is like MFK’s other florals, Amyris Femme or Feminin Pluriel. Overall it’s a little soapy and lily-like, synthetic and lightly sweet. It’s very wearable and impossible to overspray.

The discount version of BR 540 with more fruity floral. I find one spray of this is already too much.

I have anosmia to BR540, which is probably why I can’t smell this one properly either. To me this smells initially very aquatic, like swimming pool water on a sunny summer day with a hint of sweaty sun screened skin, and the dry down is dry cedar wood. It’s interesting but I feel like I’m missing a lot of what other people are commenting on.

I love BR540. This has the same DNA but where BR hits the sweet spot, this totally misses the right exit. The osmanthus in this makes this smell vintage and gives a bit lipsticky vibes. Not my cup of tea

Right away I noticed it smells like St. Julep. It's very good, but if you already have St. Julep you don't need this. If you don't own St. Julep, my pick would be Mystic Sunset. Just a bit better. My favorite of this line is the original Eau D'Itale, but this would be my second choice. I've already owned St. Julep, so moving on without a full bottle.

As @Capricious Capricorn said; I also came here to validate it was a BCR540 dupe-ish, in fact it works better, because BCR540 falls flat on it's face on my skin, this doesn't!. Not sure if I'd get it though

Oh my god, can brands please stop making the 1.000.000th br540 dupe! I’m so over it! Zero originality in this.
