Rosa Greta

A nice balanced perfume that's for sure. A great fusion of flowery and fruity notes. The amber is coming forward in the dry down as a kind of aromatic incense like scent with the woody note underneath it. Lets say it goes from fresh to aromatic. The flowery note turns into a distinct rose-scent balanced with the white tea aroma. This makes this perfume not too sweet and also not too amber-like. It is fresh by its fruity and flowery notes and keeps aromatic with amber and wood. A perfect fusion that makes this perfume balanced and keeps it really unisex. I can imagine a woman would prefer to wear this rather than a man but there is not such a thing that's typical male or female on a scent. So when to wear? Definitely on warm days when you want a fresh and uplifting perfume. A nice perfume from this great new brand.

If you can’t find this anywhere, Eau Rose EDT by Diptyque is about 90% the same scent. Very lovely, a modern interpretation of rose, which is considered by too many to smell “old lady.” But I say long live the queen of flowers!

I love the idea of a perfume dedicated to/inspired by Greta Garbo, so that might have influenced my opinion of the actual perfume, but I think Rosa Greta is really great. Like Garbo herself, it has an easy, no-nonsense kind of elegance to it; it's simply a very good rose scent without much fuss, and when it comes down to it, isn't that really all you need? Mind you, I say that as a lover of all kind of rose scents, including the indulgent/bombastic ones...but there are moods when you just want to get back to basics, and this is wonderful for that. It's a rather natural kind of rose; fresh and green and slightly prickly, not at all sweet even as it dries down, not heavy but definitely not insubstantial either. I don't get tea at all, except that I can believe that it serves as support for that botanical vibe; and I definitely don't get any litchi although there is a certain brightness that might be explained by its presence in the composition. In short, I just get rose, and a very good rose it is! Longevity is average for a lighter floral scent, and I can imagine wearing it year-round except maybe in the coldest, darkest months when I need something sweeter and more comforting - Rosa Greta doesn't have even the slightest (quasi-)gourmand leaning, which is something I often crave in the depth of winter. I'm not sure if I can imagine Greta Garbo wearing this, maybe because it's just too modern (light, simple) a scent to be imagined in her lifetime (and obviously, because I don't know her at all - who knows what she liked during her life, let alone what she would like today!). But I'll buy it as a fitting hommage to her. Another rose scent to add to my decant wishlist - after all, why stop at a dozen rose scents when they're all so lovely in different ways...

Rosa Greta is a tribute fragrance to Greta Garbo, an American-Swedish actress that went into hiding from Hollywood in the 1930's. She was found in a villa on the Amalfi coast in a Ravello rose garden overlooking the Mediterranean. I can definitely see where Fabrice Pellegrin was going with this creation. It really does feel like a rose garden in which you just sit smell the fresh and light roses with the exotic touch of litchi. In about thirty minutes comes out the tea, my favourite part of the fragrance, it is so smooth, calming. The opening is definitely on the feminine side, yet the drydown is completely unisex. On my skin, Rosa Greta lasts about 6 hours with moderate projection. It is a good release, but not something I could wear. The litchi can get boring quick, as it is thick and sweet, borderline overripe. Do try it though, it can be a great warmer month vacation scent.

Rosa Greta is a fresh rose perfume with a fresh tea opening and a comfortable woody ambery base. It is easy to wear, the perfume keeps light and quite fresh thought out its development, with a warmer, not sweeter, nuances which appear after a while. Ambrox (woody ambery molecule by Firmenich) keeps it very radiant and cozy. Easy, enjoyable, rosy, not at all old-fashioned or oily.
