Purple Noon

My friend bought a travel spray of this because there is a video on Tiktok hyping it up, saying it has has a chokehold on everyone in LA and she gets stopped in the street every time she wears it. No, it's not a paid post, she's just lying for no reason. It's not that great. I actually really like this fragrance, the drydown is gorgeous and smooth with the vanilla, coconut water (it really is watery too, not a regular coconut note) orris, orange blossom and ylang ylang all very discernable and balanced nicely. The way this fragrance opens is unpleasant to me though. The bergamot has an unpleasantly sour and bitter quality that overpowers everything else. There's also something powdery and there's this really unpleasant clash between that and the bergamot, my friend and I both thought so. Is the lovely drydown enough to make up for the bad opening? I don't know, maybe. I could imagine being stopped once or twice in the street and being asked about it, MAYBE, but there is absolutely no way this tiktoker is really getting approached and complimented about it constantly, nor is it as breathtakingly amazing as she acts like it is.

Actually a really pretty fragrance, however something in this reminds me of dryer sheets? So if you want to smell like a floral, coconut scented dryer sheet, this is for you.

Don’t like the ginger in this and there is just an undertone that is off to me. It feels cold and kind of aloof. It leans a little masculine for my taste as well.

Purple Noon starts off with initial blast of freshness. The mix of orris root with the other notes becomes becomes more suede like to my nose. The ginger itself isn’t strong but it brings sense of spice to the fragrance. There isn’t any discernible sweetness on me at first but a subtle sweetness blooms as time goes on. If I had to gender it, it’d lean more male to me. That said, I do think any gender could wear this. I’d love to see the brand come out with a flanker of this scent that leans more fruity and less powdery!
