Annicke 5

Annicke 5 is a balsamic, gourmand amber scent with a lot sweetness in the base. It is one of the better Annickes - I have found this line to be quite uneven overall; never bad, but often underwhelming. A5 is a nice example of a sweet amber scent - laced with warm spices and some earthy patchouli, it is a pleasant, comforting autumn/winter scent. A5 has a boozy opening thanks to the rum note, followed closely by the amber which forms the backbone of this scent. I don't get much freshness, despite the listed bergamot and muguet notes. Instead, jammy plum adds sweetness after a little while, with caramelised vanilla developing in the background. It is smooth and sweet here, nicely gourmand. The amber becomes honeyed as it develops further, richly sweet but not cloying. Some patchouli adds a lovely earthy counterpoint in the later stages. It fades to a powdery vanilla-amber skin scent eventually. Sillage is moderate and longevity is long-lasting. Nothing unusual, but a nice example of the genre, A5 is a gourmand amber-vanilla with honey and plum, sweet but utterly delicious throughout - it is really well-composed. A feminine cold weather scent, this is addictive throughout and really quite beautiful. 4/5.

I was introduced to this fragrance, as part of the Eight & Bob Annicke line discovery set, three days ago by some friends who own a really high end boutique/label in Sydney. I was also told to pick one as a gift (yay, my fave pressie). So I sat down with my laptop, Annicke's from 1 to 6 lined up, along with tester strips... I'm going to cut to the chase and tell you that I own close to 100 fragrances (yes, I collect them), but in three days, Annicke 5 has become my signature scent! I cannot get enough of this boozey, sweet plumy and caramelly potion! It reminds me a bit of Khamrah (prob because of the rum, amber and honey), but I think it's the Lily of the Valley that elevates this perfume, making it slightly powdery and not just a yummy gourmand, but a powerhouse and addictive sweet scent! Ladies, this is sexy, bold, highly projecting and it lasts forever (8 hours +). It baffles me that this fragrance, though niche, doesn't have more reviews on this site (only 26) or videos on YouTube!!! It's high-end but no more expensive than some designer brands! Get your nose onto this if you love grown-up gourmand scents!!!

I've had this a while now and I'm really glad I bought a bottle. I'm not a huge fan of caramel and honey as dominant notes, but this is an amazing caramel bomb that doesn't make me nauseated. Extremely sweet, but the patchouli adds grounding and spiciness. There's honey for sure, also amber and vanilla, but it's mostly caramel and patchouli to me. The patch behaves differently than I am used to, or maybe it's just perfectly measured to my liking. The opening is boozy, it's got a bit of fruity sweetness but I wouldn't have known it was plum. Can't pick out any lily of the valley or bergamot. Annicke 5 was gorgous in the summer heat, which is surprising and awesome. I like misting this from a bit of a distance though. 3 mists was enough to have my perfume commented on hours after applying, so it obviously performs well. Also, I'm sure this is GREAT for layering.

The opening notes reminded me of a non-alcoholic rum-flavored syrup that was sometimes used to sweeten tea when I was a child. Sweet, sugary, almost sticky notes, yet at the same time warm and comforting, bringing a sense of relaxation. However, let this introduction not give the impression that Annicke 5 is a trivially linear gourmand. Although it does not evolve dramatically, it is multifaceted, and from time to time that complexity reveals itself. As the fragrance unfolds, the rum nuances gradually give way to a more general impression of enveloping sweetness. Warm, comforting, and long-lasting, it offers a projection that remains perceptible for many hours. While it wore surprisingly well on a day with temperatures around 30°C and a stormy atmosphere in the air, I can most easily imagine it as a fragrance for the colder months.

Whoa! This is a lot! It's super sweet, dense and very strong. There is something spicy here I can't pinpoint, but it's not any of the notes listed. Maybe the Ambre 84 DL molecule, because whatever it is it's intense. Then there's caramel, I'd go as far as saying this is at least 80% vanilla-caramel. Tons of caramel! I keep going back and forth with Annicke 5. Is it too much and just sickening - or is it what seductive, sweet dreams are made of? I love the whiffs I get from my arm. It smells mysterious and warm, I'm so intrigued. Then I sniff closer and find myself a bit repulsed. What's going on? I just contemplated the purchase of a 30ml bottle. I will keep contemplating.... ....Aaand I placed an order for the small bottle. Guess I will update once I get to spend some time with this intriguing scent ;)
