The fragrance is subtly sweet, adding just the right touch of "presence" without being overwhelming. Which brings us to the sun—specifically, to the "Egyptian" essence of this scent. I've heard arguments claiming it doesn't evoke Egypt, to which I'd retort: I live near Egypt and have had the pleasure of visiting. To me, this fragrance is the Mediterranean Sea (or Red Sea) amplified—a perfect, 100% Egyptian note captured in a bottle. A significant aspect to discuss is the strong alcoholic notes evident upon the first spritz. Although some may see this as a downside, I consider it a transient phase. Within minutes, this robust aroma gives way to a perfect note of masculinity that lingers. But perhaps the most captivating quality of "Egypt" is its duality. This is a fragrance for the man who, in the morning, is all business, focused and driven as he heads to work. Yet come evening, he transforms into the life of the party, commanding attention without forcefully seeking it. It's a remarkably charismatic scent, achieved not through force but through innate allure. In summary, "Egypt" is for those who appreciate simplicity at its finest and most dignified. Eight & Bob Egypt is a spicy, semi-sweet, semi-fresh, masculine-leaning scent that seems to be both a nod to classic fougeres and more modern spicy/sweet men's scents alike. The fresh opening of lavender, lemon, and moss shapes the freshness of the blend, the lavender in particular standing out, as it often does, the lavender and moss blend providing the foreground of a fougere while the rest comes together. Nutmeg and cardamom provide a spicy heart, while the base is composed of a familiar balance of leather, patchouli, and sandalwood, a relatively safe landing spot. Somehow, the blend comes off as somewhat sweet, and I attribute this mainly to the nutmeg and sandalwood, but still, the sweetness is surprising. Nevertheless, Egypt is spicier than it is sweet. I get hints of the leather and sandalwood but not so much the patchouli in the dry down, myself, which perhaps keeps it smelling sweeter rather than dirtier on my skin, at least. Performance is solid, much like the others I've tried from this house (original and Cap D'Antibes), and the pricing is fair enough ($175 for 100ml) given that Egypt, like the others, is versatile, and can be worn, in my opinion, year-round except perhaps on a hot summer day. Otherwise, though, Egypt is an easy winner, a fragrance that strikes me as universally flattering on men based on traditional norms but certainly wearable by women. The scent leans ever so slightly more mature than youthful, but is really balanced enough that most could find joy in wearing it, either for formal or casual situations. High on versatility, to say the least. Another solid entry from Eight & Bob and one I'll have to consider. 8 out of 10

Eight and bob Egypt: This scent definitely lives up to its name as Egypt, as your spray this perfume your skin starts to get enriched by spicy but still a citrusy and somewhat floral essence, as if your walking thru a North African outside market like many places in Egypt. The spice as mentioned above is definitely the main character here, and it’s gorgeous, it’s not to masculine and not to feminine, some people say it’s very unisex, but I think it’s more masculine leaning. Even though it’s not a note listed for the perfume, deep inside the spicy, intriguing but not intruding strong smell I sense a hint of liqourice, but not the cheap store bought ones or the one you pick up at the tax free at the airport, but the raw, natural authentic liqourice, which is quite dampened and subtle but for me if you smell deep enough it’s still there. The smell of citrus as mentioned in the notes here, are also not as strong as the thrilling spice, its still living within the darkness, its subtle, but punchy. This Fragrance perfectly embodies what it entails, a spicy yet somewhat floral and citrusy, and so DEEP, I mean the layers this scent goes through over the many hours it lasts on the skin is truly masterclass. Longevity: 8/10 Strength: 7/10 Originality: 7/10 Overall Pleasure and Compliments with this: 9/10

Eight & Bob’s Egypt is sweeter than I expected and reminds me of two fragrances I own and enjoy: 1) Azzaro Pour Homme Intense and 2) Caswell-Massey’s Heritage Jockey Club. Both are sweet, but Azzaro PH Intense is sweet AND spicy, so it’s better for comparison. Egypt is subtle, complex, and sophisticated, whereas Azzaro PH Intense is more in-your-face (above average sillage) and linear, but still addictive and comforting. Both launched around the same time, with Egypt arriving a year earlier. The dry down is where niche Eight & Bob surpasses designer Azzaro. Egypt’s faint but noticeable leather is gorgeous in the dry down, and in the end its scent arc develops into a beautiful creaminess that Azzaro PH Intense never reaches. Egypt is well blended and smells of high quality (as it should at its price point). Without question, its an excellent fragrance, but I’m dubious as to whether owning it over the more affordable Azzaro PH Intense is necessary. My pragmatic side tells me no, but my fragrance enthusiast side says yes. I think the dry down distinguishes itself enough to warrant investing in a full bottle. Score: 9 out of 10

Well to start I need to say that I'm Egyptian. This fragrances does not have nothing to do with Egypt. When you think of Egypt which is the perfume birthplace, you think of heavy oil essentials, deserts, extreme strong spices and jasmine. Eight & Bob market their fragrances very well, but according to their story Albert made this perfume inspired of his friend villa's garden. Come on man! does a fancy villa really represents Egypt and the great ancient culture?? I am sure not. This is not to say the perfume is bad, it is lovely in every way with great longevity (6+hrs) and slightly above average projection (2-3hrs) if you use lotion to enhance the performance. Brilliant perfume but the only 2 downsides is that it does not represents Egypt by any means and that its not unique at all and smells almost typical to Chanel Allure homme edt the classic. Still worth a full bottle I have been wearing it for a couple of weeks enjoying it and receiving many compliments.

Look, if you’re hunting for a scent that smells sophisticated without that heavy "old man" retro vibe, this is it. Egypt is pure class in a bottle. At first, you get this hit of freshness mostly rosemary and lavenderbut that settles quickly and leads into the main act: cardamom and warm spices. It’s not sweet at all; it’s more dry and woody. It definitely has that "old money" vibe discreet, yet everyone can tell you're wearing something high-end. In terms of longevity, it hits the sweet spot. It easily lasts 6 hours on me, which is plenty. It’s not one of those scents that chokes everyone in the room; people only notice it when they get close, which is exactly how a fragrance like this should work. For me, this is the go-to for a crisp shirt and a slightly more dressed-up night out. It definitely has a character you won't find in your typical designer fragrances.Very interesting and solid performance.

People seem to love to hate this House but the truth is, they've lasted this long for a reason! Like 99.9% of all other houses, you win some & you lose others but they nailed a homerun with this one! I read other reviews gripping more about "what's not in the composition" & less of THE BOTTOM LINE,"THIS JUICE SMELLS AMAZING!" Quite honestly, i don't care where the ingredients are from. Whether or not the oakmoss or the tea is from England, Egypt, China or the north pole... WHO CARES! Bottom line, the composition smells similar to what i would relate to the name.... EGYPT! I get a very sexy blend of spices, oakmoss, cardamom, nutmeg & some kind of juicy citrus, patchouli, leather, sandlewood AND A WHOLE LOT OF EGYPT!!

In my typically very picky opinion, the best value-for-money barbershop fougere on the market. Every other fougere I've tried has something that sticks out like a sore thumb. This is so well balanced that it's harder than usual to discern any individuality between the notes. When you smell it, it smells as it it's the pure extract of one single, beautiful tree with bright citric, aromatic, herbal, woody and nutty notes. The longer drydown becomes a sultry woody, mossy, slightly powdery blanket but still retains the majority of that initial DNA. I love it with all my heart and will always have a bottle in my collection.

This is a heck of a nice scent fellas! Wow. Super clean barber shop vibe and the name is throwing me off, but I really don't care. Amazing. This is a safe niche fragrance all around. Great feel of quality and blend on skin. There's that note I know (lavender) mixed with something I don't which is really nice and I think it's the middle notes throwing me off. The base leather and woods. Perfect gentleman scent all day long. Don't listen to any negative about this stuff, try it for yourself and you can thank me later :) 9/10 highly recommend

Egypt is one of my favorites to spray on after a shower. Has a nice clean lavender that reminds me of Gucci Guilty, but it’s much deeper and more sophisticated with the warm spices and leather. Smells like a man who is well established, but also isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. I imagine Indiana Jones would wear this between adventures. A charming fougere that can be worn all year round and is well suited for men 25+ who dress semi-formal or business casual.

A modern aromatic Fougere, with bold, but not overwhelming spices, and a honeyed, ambery sweetness. Strikes a nice balance between fresh and sweet without being overly bubble-gummy or juvenile. Nothing groundbreaking or show-stopping, but an addictive, and easy wear. A great dumb reach for the spring, fall and winter. Also a great gateway Fougere for someone interested in exploring the genre.

Main players here are the leather and nutmeg. Hints of lavender and lemon in the opening, and hints of patchouli and amber (even though it is not listed) in the dry down. Beautiful fragrance that is masterfully blended. Perfect for all occasions in the colder seasons. I don't smell anything synthetic like some of the other offerings in the brand. I think it is blind buy safe

Sweet and slightly spicy fragrance that is more masculine IMO. Starts off nice citrus and lavender. Very clean to my nose. Turns sweet and spicy within minutes. Has a slight Guerlain Ideal vibe. Very enjoyable into the dry down which for me is mostly leather. A winner and my first from the house... Enjoy!

Absolutely my Signature. I love the sophistication of it. It's warming and classy and I feel great when I wear it. The amount of compliments I get when wearing it outstrip all others with the exception of Aventus. I don't care about whether the stories are true or not, it's just a fantastic creation.

It's like warm spicy honey dripped over your skin but not in a sticky overpowering way. Warm but also smells fresh on the dry down. Smells amazing on my skin but definetly not a blind buy. Beautiful packaging and bottle if you like that, great and luxurious smelling scent, very worth it!

Update after 18 months: this is a classic beauty and the best of their perfumes! so smooth and classy! very original but not in your face in a discreet way i have over 80 scents of high end nature and it is a special one very versatile wearing it for the second time

This is a very nice transparent oriental! Reminds me of itasca by lubin or black tea by Murdock. Very similar notes to those two, and I love both of those! There is a transparent watery nature to it, it isn’t deep and cloying, it’s like a sweet oasis in the desert

Egypt by Eight & Bob is a timeless masterpiece, just like Egypt. A spicy, sweet very elegant and classic fragrance, somewhere between fougere and gourmand fragrance families. Its warm but also very versatile and could be warn day and night, during all seasons.

Very underated! Gives of a «classy gentleman» vibes. Warm and spicy but clean at the same time, not too heavy. Projection isnt the best, but overspraying a little doesnt hurt. One of my favorites. Love too wear this all year around. 8,3/10

Lavender, a touch metallic ‘old style’ but not dated in my opinion. I don’t understand the ‘Egypt’ part really. An aftershave masculine old school everyday (Id wear it in summer) freshie with slight leathery and patchouli aspects.

A gem of a scent. Spices, Amber, leather, a nice patchouli. Why does Prada Ocean come to mind? Really getting to understand the quality of niche....... superb quality. I will now have to hunt for the original.

I tried this sidebar side with YSL Opium pour homme. Openings are very similar but Eygpt goes darker in the dry down. It's a mature version of my teenage self, Nostalgic!

it was the name “egypt” that got my attention. a sniff made me wonder why it is called so. but i love it! bought it and no regrets. don’t blind-buy this.

Anyone else getting frankincense in this then me?

Egypt is a classic masculine fougère, good quality and well-rendered, but nothing unusual. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with Egypt, but an irrelevant name matters little when a scent is this good. Made with natural-smelling ingredients, it is smooth and nicely-rounded - there is no sharpness here, a common pitfall of cheaper fougères. Egypt opens with a bright, aromatic lavender note, slightly herbal and essential oil-like. Some citrus adds freshness up top. It is followed quickly by warm spices and a smooth, balsamic amber accord that permeates this scent. I get nutmeg in particular - one of my preferred spicy notes, and a hint of peppery cardamom, nicely restrained. There is a lovely chypre-like undertone thanks to the patchouli, adding a nice earthiness to the base of this scent, punctuating the amber beautifully. There is a vintage-style mossiness there too. Smooth woody notes emerge as it dries down, complementing the increasingly musky amber accord nicely. I get tonka bean too, adding a smooth hint of sweetness. It fades to a smooth, musky, earthy skin scent with a hint of spice, aromatic until final fade. Sillage and longevity are moderate. A top-notch classic fougère, this is masculine elegance in a bottle. Timeless, wearable and nicely put-together, it is a decent example of the genre, if nothing unusual. On the expensive side too for a scent of its profile, but overall, a gem. 4/5.

Refined, well-blended, familiar and masculine. When you smell Egypt it is instantly pleasant, especially if you are into warm-spicy fougere type of fragrances. It opens lavender-heavy, not sharp, not too citric but freshness of citrus note is there, all in all smooth with warm woody/spicy accord where I can't pick out single ingredients but I feel like it's nutmeg/cardamom/sandalwood. Oakmoss is noticeable from start to finish, but patchouli makes a little sour entrance towards dry down - which comes in 3 hours, pretty quick if you ask me. As mentioned several times here, though the scent is perfectly fine, the price is hard to be justified from a regular user's perspective. I really respect this blend though, it serves to a purpose - in this case not being "original" but an allround spicy barbershop fragrance. Note: Zara's Vibrant Leather Boise (to me one of the best masculine Zara releases of all time) carries similarities especially on the heart and base and it only costs a fraction of Egypt's price. Mind you, I am not telling they are too similar, but if anything, they are in the same family with VL Boise carrying similarities from Nasomatto Black Afgano as well.

Egypt is an appealing, well crafted spiced fougere that resembles a high end barbershop scent - natural smelling, elegant, well rounded but far from unique. The Eight & Bob story about this scent being crafted by a French aristocrat for a friend in the 1930s is frankly ridiculous, as this is a very modern smelling scent that cannot be older than the 2000s. A lovely opening of lavender and spices is uplifted by zest. Lavender is soon joined by a fruity sweet note in the heart. Sandalwood, coumarin/tonka and fractionated patchouli gradually increase in intensity. The dry-down is woody, warm, lightly spiced and sweet. This smells like a slightly more luxurious version of Trussardi's Riflesso or some recent Boss Bottled offerings...but at 3 times the price tag. Is Egypt unique? No. Is Egypt evocative of North Africa? No. Is Egypt nice smelling? Yes. Is Egypt worthy of its price-tag? Not to me. A great scent which starts fresh and finishes warm. Natural, engaging, but not particularly interesting to experienced noses. Certainly not niche smelling. A high-end scent for newbies looking for an upmarket starter juice. Hobbyists best look elsewhere.

Bit let down by this scent. Had hopes from all the community love it gets, though it doesn't have enough pull in one special direction to have me wanting to wear this beyond the decant I now own. Top notes get lost among the spices, which have me upset. My favorite ice cream is from a local spot that uses cardamom in it. However, that with the nutmeg, and base notes produce a tonka bean vibe, which is a scent I don't like. Also, the mention of the classy men is fair, yet to my nose it doesn't get to that level like MMM At The Barbershop does; not in the same frag category, just using for reference. Recommend you get a decant prior to the full bottle, as this can produce a conflict. Worth checking out to form your own opinion. This is a fine made fragrance, and it made me bite to see what else is out there. I have a decant of Nuit de Megeve coming in a little bit so fingers crossed! 6.5/10

Bright fruity sweet oddly bland lavender ambroxan leather I was really excited to try the idea of lavender nutmeg cardamom over patchouli leather. Based on the name i was expecting some kind of plush opulent formula, drenched dry lavender and intense cardamom, a sunny landscape in ancient Egypt as the description implies. What i got was more so the abstract scent of a Jo Malone counter, particularly their Lavender Birch offering and even more so their candle version, albeit sweeter and headier veering into leather territory. Its somewhere between ambroxan heavy YSL creation and something akin to Pure havane, like an abstract modern fougere offspring with plenty of coumarin in the base. I'm still very confused by the name and generally puzzled by the composition.

It's nice, but I'm glad I only bought a 30ml bottle as it's not bold or unique enough for my tastes. It also instantly reminded me of Azzaro Most Wanted Edp (not that Azzaro's fragrance isn't good, because it is). I just wish it was a little more unusual, and a little louder. You can pick out some of the notes, especially the nutmeg, and there's a subtle shaving foam soapy thing going on in the background, but I wouldn't say this was a typical fougere—more of a light warm spicy affair in a similar vein to the recent Rochas Moustache edp. My expectations may have been too high following all the reviews I've read—but I was hoping it would be less designer...ish. Overall, for me, it's a safe blind buy as it won't offend anyone, but it's not a love.

Really great opening so far at time of wearing. Barbershop fougere fragrance for sure. Very natural and an easy wear. Could be considered dated and generic typical fragrance of a lavender citrus opening with mossy dry down. As others have mentioned, it is elegant and conservative fragrance without any head turning. This is for a mature gentleman who does not want added attention from the fragrance. Beautifully done and I am a personal fan, as I am a conservative mature male. I feel you can wear this any time of the year and any situation. Very versatile, office safe and universally acceptable. 8.5/10

Egypt doesn't smell very Egyptian... unless by chance the name refers to the town of Egypt, Pennsylvania. More than anything else it evokes a small-town American country kitchen, with the pleasing smells and spices of nutmeg and cardamom I associate with pies and baked goods. (More than anything else, this reminded me of Layton from PdM, minus the dominant apple note.) This is a lovely fougère which also has some leather backing it up ( a note which makes me like just about every fragrance more), and is quite enjoyable; but I am at a loss for the name and the backstory Eight and Bob have given this.

If you picture the sun over the pyramids, this smell is something you'd think to get, I think at least maybe. It's soft spicy, not aggressive, although the initial spray is a big blast of what it ends up drying down to. It's very pleasant and I think you can wear this at anytime of the year and it will work well. It's very inoffensive and safe, so depending how you feel about that when looking at the cost of this, it might turn you away. So in conclusion, it's something to try out but, to buy, I personally want something more out of a fragrance than just being safe for the cost that this is.

I can see the comparisons to Endymion. Also maybe a little bit of LNDL? I have to squint a little harder but I still can recognize its kinship with other mentioned fragrances like Opium Pour Homme and Frank No. 2 mentioned by the review below me. The common chord you will notice here is a sweet spiced lavender, synthetic leaning and almost vaguely tart-fruity. It is a formula that you have undoubtedly smelled before, but that is because it works well. Pleasant and easy to pull off for anybody. Still, I think this house has more unique offerings such as Nuit de Megeve. 8.1/10

A lemony lavender atop a mossy leather. Mildly sweet with a dusty texture from the earthy spices popping through the top notes. Desiccates even more as it dries down, a bone-dry yet fairly gentle woody spicy leather. Moderately strong projection for 3-4hr, longevity 10-12hr. Like a jacketed tree stump sitting out in the desert, blazing sun beating down on it. The moisture slowly evaporates, the citrus burns off, the moss and lavender dry up. A gust of wind blows away the crumbled plants, and all that remains is a sand-buffeted leather coat on a log.

I added this to my wish list based on recommendations and my husband bought it for me for my birthday. So it was a blind buy/gift, I suppose! When I first smelled it, I thought I sensed pancakes - I think that might have been the nutmeg. I've worn it several times since and what I get now is a quite strong alcohol at opening, then spiciness, then it settles down into a sweet/spicy blend. Good longevity and sillage. I consider it unisex thought it leans slightly male, in my opinion. And honestly? It smells quite a bit like Old Spice! I like it. ;)

Completely Agree with Landshark This is a fresher take on a arabic spicy and ambery aromatic It has a good composition and dry down of the fragrance. It is mass pleasing and hard to dislike. Far less sweet and more masculine than many designer ambers. Overall, if you have always wanted a arabic fragrance, but did not want something daring at all, then this is perfect I find this gentlemanly, not too loud and it lasted 5 hours or so Recommended

I paid $100 for it and it was money well spent. This is surely the best fragrance of the EIGHT & BOB house. It lasts about 7 hours on my skin with moderate projection for the first 2 hour. A universally pleasing fragrance, I got more compliments on Egypt than on the perfumes I paid $400 for. It can be a blind buy, you won't regret it. For those who classify this as a fougere fragrance, this is definitely in the TOP 2!

I like this fragrance a lot. The spices are enveloping. Very nice wood. I definitely think this is more for men, but in the right situation, a woman could certainly wear this fragrance. Really good longevity and silage. I bought this one instead of the Eight & Bob Original because of the superior performance. I live in Hawaii, so the question of seasons doesn't affect me. I wear what I want regardless of the weather.

Very pleasant, sweet and spicy. I can understand why it is popular, and the profile harks back to Calvin Klein's Obsession, though it is a vast improvement on Obsession with added leather, cardamom and nutmeg. The exotic sweet notes do not smell barbershop to me, contrary to many reviewers' opinions. I would describe this more as an enjoyable oriental fougère. My favourite from the house of Eight & Bob.

Spicy, woody and sweet, masculine. I can totally picture an older man on vacation, well dressed in expensive designer clothing, button down short sleeve shirt, and tan slacks, wearing a Panama hat, walking around an Egyptian spice market and wearing this. If you like Tauer's L'Air du Desert Marocain, you'll probably like this one. It's in the same vein. 8 out of 10. For reference, I'm female.

Sexy boss vibe! Unisex leaning masculine but you can pull it off if you like deep, bold & mysterious scents. I really like and would be rocking this bad boy during winter months. To my nose, I get really sweet amber (but the note is not included here) with some spices & a touch aromatic. A female can rock this easy, as it is quite sweet. Not blind buy safe tho !! sample first.

Very strong with lots of spices going on and i pick up a slight alcohol scent too. definetly only for colder weather and with a nicer outfit but it's not too formal Elegant while still being a little daring and youthful If you expect this to be a more generic colder weather, date night warm spicy fragrance definely don't blind buy

This is a very well-balanced fragrance. It’s hard to pick out the notes in this blend. Egypt is very masculine and classic in terms of scent profile. Some might even call it generic. They wouldn’t be wrong. Overall, this is a very elegant and conservative signature scent type fragrance. BTW, this does not smell like Allure Homme.

I mainly get a honeyish vibe from my sample of this, which is why I indicated that it reminds me Issey Miyake Noir Ambre despite having just about no notes in common with it. So it's nice but not necessarily what I was expecting. Certainly not similar to L'Air du Desert Marocain which I tried yesterday.
