Sérénité en Bourgogne

First full wearing of Eight & Bob - Serenite en Bourgogne, a release from earlier this year, and the most striking of the recent collection to the point that I wanted to give it a full day’s sampling. It’s sweet, spicy, boozy, and resinous, a very cozy and sophisticated orchestration of varied generally-intense notes—namely, saffron, pink pepper, myrrh, oud, bourbon vanilla, and patchouli. It feels very apt for the cooling weather, is not as sweet as most true gourmands, not as boozy as a whiskey/rum-led scent, and not as smoky, animalic, or creamy as a scent dominated by resins. In this respect, it’s a great intersection of wintery elements that, while strong, is not too heavily handed in any one respect, a bit dry and sharp in some ways, also, that prevents it from being a gourmand while nonetheless having a couple of food notes. Overall, I really love it, and it’s something nice for the cool weather rotation, especially, though it could easily be worn on a summer night to stand out. And perhaps it’s the red color of the juice, but I do get a vaguely rose champagne vibe from it, though I should attribute this to the saffron and pink pepper, realistically. As far as comparisons, Guerlain Gourmand Coquin and Piotr Czarnecki each come to mind as having a similar theme and quality. Serenite en Bourgogne, like most of the house, is EDP concentration and sold via the house site and great boutiques like Perfumology. Its pricing is $255 for 100ml and seemingly a select few points of sale carry a $110 for 30ml option, also. 8 out of 10

Bought a 10ml decant of this based upon Cuba Knows review. I can say that this is nice, but not a spectacular purchase. Kind of reminds me of a smokier Babycat with less performance. It's nice, but the performance is pretty underwhelming for the price point. 6.75 out of 10.

I just bought this perfume in Sapporo, Japan while shopping at a small niche fragrance shop. This perfume stopped me in my tracks!! It is so warm and reminds me of the smell of a church- incense burning. It is such a great fragrance.

Not sure why some YouTube bloggers get goosebumps over this one (yes I committed the arch sin of blind buying post watching a very convincing video). The scent profile is calming and clean, reminds me of grandma’s wardrobe. The name does it justice: serenity = a very quiet, calming perfume, it does also remind me of the smell of the tranquil evening air to a certain degree. You won’t want to spray this one on clothing because it is red. The perfume stains on paper - definitely not something to spray on any clothing unless it’s black! I might use this one for bedtime (it also reminds me of a spa for some reason)

I loved the name as I love the Burgundy region and have visited during harvesting season so I was influenced already. It’s a beautiful, warm, and slightly spicy vanilla with pink pepper on the open. Nothing new or exciting but likeable. Sillage is moderate at best.

Heavy, warm, slightly sweet with oud and dry spice. Beware the red juice; it looks like it would stain.

Unfortunately, no goosebumps for me whatsoever!! Very underwhelming. Thank god I ordered 10ml and not a full bottle. Dries down to a VERY faint powdery scent with slight sweetness.

I have no idea what this smell like. Just going over the reviews and can tell some of yall are kinda slow so ill help out a little bit. If you really watch Cubas videos you know that he likes more mature fragrances as well as some more mass appealing ones. You'd know this of youd actually watch whole videos and not just shorts on YouTube or tictoc. Before I go blind buy off someone's reaction to a fragrance im gonna watch a lot of their videos and see what they all like. I know he wears some stuff I dont like based of the notes alone, but he also likes some of the things I like based off the notes. So what I do though is write down a bunch of these fragrance then go out and smell them, write down what I liked or mark on this site, then re watch videos. Then i get to build a picture in my brain of the ones that im probably not gonna like so if I do want to try its a small decants, this cuts back on L's in the blind buy column. Theres only 1 in the last 3 months that I would call an L and that was my fault I listened to someone who said the coconut scent isnt really there, I hate coconut. But my son likes it so not really not even a lose. Just do your homework, yea it takes a little time but wasting money is worse, especially do this if your spending alot of money on a high end designer or niche fragrance. If you dont do your homework then your going to keep wasting money and blaming other people for it. And please realize not everyone has the same taste, like I genuinely hated JPG le beau edt and alot of people love it and would call it mass appealing, and it is honestly the numbers dont lie, but its not for me. When you get older your preferences will change, I used i hate alot of the stuff I like now never in a million year would I have thought id wesr an oud forward fragrance but here I am wearing them 😆 Oh and your diluting the comment section, if its a blind buy im not gonna leave a review that bashes someone on youtube who liked it, thats their preference. I talk about the actual fragrance. Dont go bashing someone name because yall have a different personality, make yous look dumb to the rest if us who understand this.

I had heard of this house from its JFK connection, and but had very little expectation. I blind bought it whilst drunk one evening, thinking why not, it’s 120 for a 30ml, if I hate it I can sell it on the Reddit swap for 80 and it won’t hurt too bad. Then it arrived. Wow. Is it original? No. Is it absolutely beautiful, yes. A near perfect saffron amber with the just the loveliest tobacco note. It reminds me of an old leather pipe tobacco pouch filled with soft cherry tobacco. It’s almost too good. Bravo

Spiced wine in winter. Not appropriate for warm weather. Big scent bubble. A grown woman fragrance, sensual and comforting.
