Amber Aquilaria

This is my second review on Amber Aquilaria, in my first one I went on rant on the house being over-priced and pompous in presentation but truth be told in time and with experience I have changed my perspective. Electimuss seem to genuinely want to make good products and the quality is here with all of the fragrances that I sampled. Are they over-priced? Are some of them derivative? I don't know, maybe, depends on your perspective on the perfume market as it is now. As I see it, these days in fragcom we seem to have a version of what is happening in crypto today, an abundance of scammers making companies over-night with cheap wordpress websites looking for a quick n' easy cash-out usually with the help of greedy/misguided influencers and (lets face it) gullible and compulsive buyers. Viewing it in that context Electimuss is ok, they are not great, but they ain't terrible - they invest in their product, they seem to be serious about making fragrances which might sound silly but it's pretty rare these days. That said you can vibe with them or not but it's an honest brand with a honest product. Anyway these are just my two scents about this brand and about the state of affairs in the fragrance-sphere. Now for the fragrance: Amber Aquilaria is a masculine leaning amber fragrance with a cognac accord present throughout. There are zero rough edges, this is rounded and smooth. The smell is velvety amber and cognac that is similar to the cognac accord in Roja's Enigma (just that accord, no similarity between the two fragrances). It is linear and mostly you will get amber/booze that is sweet, but not too sweet and elegant. It is different in the opening 5 to 15 minutes when it has a animalic feel, it's rougher, sexy and you also get the bergamot swirling with the cognac, but it does not last. Through most of the life you get smooth, velvety, airy amber/cognac mix with no rough edges that remains fairly linear. The performance is good for my standards, decent projection in the first 1-2 hours, total longevity about 9 hours, by no means beast mode. Worth it at this price? Well no, like most fragrances at retail, but let's face it, if you are reading this far in this long-ass rant you are probably in the game and get your fragrances discounted, grey marker or from a plug so it depends on your perspective of what that value is worth to you. At the end of the day what you spend your money on is a decision you make, I am happy with mine and this has a cozy place in my collection.

Amber Aquilaria smells great, but I have to say a few things about it. It is boozy, woody, smoky, a bit spicy, and a bit fresh (but not "that" type of fresh). It is great, but I expected Amber Aquilaria to be even more complex (less linear) with more sweetness and warmth instead of just those booziness and smokiness dominating the scent from top to bottom. I do get that booziness, probably from that cognac accord. The ambergris is also very prominent here. The oud is there, but not really noticeable. The vanilla and sandalwood are starting to appear when the scent dries down (much more obvious on my skin rather than on paper/shirt). Deep down, that over-the-top expectation probably makes me kinda disappointed but overall, it is still a very nice fragrance. But, I do have to give it an extra point for being unique. I don't think it smells like any of the Enigma variants or other fragrances out there. It lasts long, projects very well, and honestly, you don't have to worry about its performance. Not safe for blind buy, so sample first.

Wow. On the paper stick, I hated this. The bergamot, maybe the cognac, maybe both, was trending sickly synthetic spearmint cleaner. But I am trying new things and I took a chance after today’s shower and spritzed it on. What a revelation on my skin. Deep, rich, smokey, (I have an unsophisticated nose, probably have no idea how to articulate what I'm smelling). I could see a woman wearing this. Joan Jett x high femme dom. Age matters not, attitude is everything. She’d keep her skin just out of reach so you couldn’t bury your nose in her addictively spiced skin. Not sure I will commit to it for me, but I sure would date it. —————— Drydown is vanilla without being too sweet. That minty-ish top note is what lingered on my clothes. I want to try this again on cold weather days. I see getting this in a travel or mini (if ever offered that way) and devoting a weekend each year to it. Definitely one of the best olfactory journeys I’ve ever taken in that I recognized the development of the scent.

Awe man I’ve fallen really in love with this one . Right from first sample I went back for more. Yes it’s crazy expensive but come on now if you still don’t know how to get your Niche for 30-50% off then you don’t know what you’re doing. Nobody should ever pay retail. Well unless u really can’t find the fragrance anywhere else but on the brands website. So yes I paid full price for Ciel de Gum but it’s now discontinued and my bottle would now sell for 3-4 times what I paid. But I’m not selling it, I too love it. As for Amber Aquilaria, it really is one of the BEST boozy ambers I’ve ever smelt and I’ve smelt many thousands of fragrances in my life. And even if I had no choice but to pay full price, THIS one is so worth it. For those of you that don’t want the full bottle, buy a couple of 8ml decants from Max Aroma. That’s what I did when I don’t want to touch my full bottle. I’m ocd I don’t like to see a used up perfume bottle. I panic when I see it less than half full.

I do not get the cough syrup vibe from this. Dark boozy, sweet resins, dark fruits of the more sweet less tart variety, an oud that starts fecal and accents of woody tannins in the beginning, but fades into a lovely softer woody backdrop, mixed with vanilla that is neither powdery nor overly creamy; just right. Strange that it has a watery/low-viscosity quality combined with all these dark attributes. Do not expect a heavy, thick, powdery, claustrophobia-inducing, busy scent. This one floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee. It pours like water, not like motor oil. Imagine melting a tootsie roll and pouring coffee into a glass of warm brandy and mixing the concoction with a wooden spoon. Sprinkle some vanilla seeds in there. Enjoy with some dark fruits and assorted nuts haha. Sexy vibes. Unisex straight down the middle. Stunning longevity and sillage. FBW when a great deal comes around; the pricing is outrageous on this one.

I got a 7.9mL sample of Amber Aquilaria from my ScentBox.com subscription. I’m in love with this scent. The opening is, in my opinion, not the most appealing. It opens on my skin smelling like grape soda with a shot of cognac. It’s similar to that liquid cough syrup your mom gave you in childhood. It only smells that way for about 30 minutes. After the dry down, this scent is absolutely spectacular. This sits on my skin smelling like a sophisticated cognac/sandlewood, sweet but not to the point my gender is questionable. This scent is a compliment monster. Men and women alike will turn their head and their faces say it all, he’s someone important. A scent for someone who wants to be conspicuous, not for the shy guy. I’m definitely purchasing a full bottle when this sample runs low!

Agree with review below. The opening is a semi/synthetic feeling sweetness. Not the normal candy sweetness but almost a confusing, cheap air freshener vibe. After about an hour or two I happened to smell it again.... It is the most beautiful Amber I’ve smelled in a very long time. I just wish the opening wasn’t quite as strange. I’m going to test again. If this didn’t retail for so much money I would get a bottle now for the dry down alone. Edit: after a few more tests I’m in love...if you are a lover of complex fragrances with fluidity this is for you! I’m buying a full bottle and I will live every spray. A must try and test multiple times because you will appreciate the fragrance after about the 5th wearing in its full glory, or at least that’s what happened with me!

Wow, what a sophisticated fragrance!. Very sensuous, classy and unique. The opening is a splash of bergamot with a bit of mandarin and cinnamon, gradually blending with the heart notes of rose, cognac, neroli and geranium...all this supported by a fragrant velvety cushion of ambergris, sandal, vanilla and Aquilaria oud. There’s a very light spiciness throughout which I particularly enjoy. A powerful potion that will surely turn heads!. In my opinion is totally unisex. The total list of ingredients listed on Electimuss’ website: Top notes: bergamot, mandarin, peach and cinnamon. Heart notes: rose, cognac, jasmine, neroli and geranium. Base notes: ambergris, sandal, vanilla and aquilaria oud.

Boozy, fruity and smokey. This is what I got on the initial spritz. It is quite strong on the opening but don’t let that take you back. Give it some time to develop on your skin. Soon after, it settles down as the ambers with vague hints of rose and vanilla sneak in, mingling with the now dry cognac scent. Just when you though it has peaked, the woods arrive on the dry down. It adds a little creaminess to the already opulent scent that has developed. For me, Amber Aquilaria evokes the feeling of a modern day Caesar. Powerful, rich, lavish, grandiose, royal. It is a scent I would use when I want to boss up and be confident. Long lasting, powerful sillage and projection. What’s more to say?

A lot of the reviews on here sound like they spray and immediatly shove their nose in it, and whilst doing that they are writing their review. I would caution readers against the bandaid alcohol sniffers and pay attention to the reviews highlighting the cola notes. I don't like reviewing other reviews, but there are too many on here not doing it justice by what I assume is the scenario I formerly described. There is just no way I can get what they are talking about otherwise. That being said maybe I am missing it, but I think this is fantastic. Not worth the retail price, but its everything I wanted Roja Enigma to be. Thanks

Hm, I'm loving this scent. If you like characterised but still wearable, put your nose into this one. Smokey, boozy, exotic, vanilla, liquorice? its like a real fine drink.. Loving the juice, but hey the price.. Why are these scents so unaffordable. I must say if you are after a girly pretty easy going perfume, this will probably not rock your boat. If you are however a bit more daring, and like a bit out of the box, you might fall in love. Worth sampling guys, a seriously grown up perfume. I'd say a tad bit on the masculine side, buy can be layered. I'm personally a fan - full bottle worthy.

this is one of the best amber fragrance I've ever put my nose on. it's not for everybody, fragrance is very subjective. Very very very rich, opulent, elegant ,classy. Imagine a big big party, the big boss getting out of the nicest limousine wearing his most expensive clothes , this is the fragrance he's wearing .you don't need compliments, you already the boss wearing this and you don't care about people's opinions. Fantastic blend. and remember do not test it on paper, wear it and spend some time with it. This one and "black caviar" are my favorite from the house.

@SwavScent12 I totally am getting a minty vibe from it and definitely don’t hate it. Wow wow wow. This is so good. By far the best amber fragrance I have ever gotten my nose on. I am new to Electimuss and just got Vici Leather and also got a sample of this along with my purchase. I would have easily bought AA if it weren’t for the $500 price tag. I’m gonna have to buy this discounted some time in the future because this is truly freaking amazing. It’s boozy, warm, ambery, slightly floral and so damn beautiful. An easy 10/10 for me.

This fragrance is not for everyone, but I really enjoy wearing it. It starts off as ambery and spicy, then the boozy and woody notes come in and take the stage. The ambergris makes its self present throughout the whole experience with a strangely sensual animalic feel to it. The fragrance becomes sweeter as it dries down. I can see how the amber and booziness can be perceived as medicinal, but to me it's a lovely smell of spices. Probably not worth the price, but those who want it will find it at a price they're happy with.

I bought this one based on the recommendation of a youtuber "Sultan scents" as he mentioned it in one of his lists so i tried it and loved it from first sniff. I get a very boozy opening no Bergamot just booze and then it is joined by amber and vanilla and that combo lasts for hours and hours so if u like amber vanilla and booze give it a try. The only down side of this fragrance is the price 140 KD for 100 ml about 500 USD which is too high for any fragrance in my opinion. 12-JUL-2020

The best most amazing smelling Oud fragrance I have ever smelt. If this was ten times the price I would still buy it. I can’t get enough out of this incredible fragrance. It’s beyond a masterpiece. I’ve been hoarding back ups. I never wanna be without it . You know how they always discontinue the best fragrances, I want to be prepared just in case. I honestly can’t imagine anyone not absolutely falling in love with this breathtakingly beautiful amber ...sigh

I really love this. The cognac is strong, bold, powerful. It's a very unique creation that smells very manly on my skin. It's a perfect mix of booze, woods and vanilla. It's sweet enough, but not too sweet. Boozy enough, but not too boozy. It's daring, it's here to be smelled and give a message. I don't think this would fit as a daily wear perfume, but when the time's right .. then this is a pure banger. Performance is excellent.

Divine! The opening is strong (harsh) with spicy amber that almost scratches the back of your throat. The scent profile evolves to a beautiful boozy amber with marked presence of ambergris through out. At about the 3 hour mark, the vanilla starts shining through intertwined with mildly animalic ambergis making this an extremely pleasing dry down. Unisex and classy. Modest projection and sophisticated presence. Shukran Habibi!

This is a boozy fresh floral that is on complete amber overload. It has a warm buttery, vanilla background that provides the scent with this sweet and saturated security blanket . . . enveloping beautiful ambergris and jammy rose. It’s finished off with a moderately thick, creamy sandalwood and cleaaaaaaan oud. This is modern luxury; it’s definitely a key predecessor to the clean amber ouds of the future.

Surprised no one made the YSL M7 or Bentley Intense comparison...only this one's less sweet, a bit more smoky/boozy with a gentle harshness thrown in. And since I adore both M7 and BI, I can't help but love AA! Great release from the house but the eye-wateringly steep retail price may not give one the best ROI...~$200 at the discounters would be a steal though!

I get more of a funky oud accord than I expected, and I like it. It probably doesn't contain real oud, but the barnyard oudy thing is more realistic than in most scents I've experienced that have "oud" in the name. It's absolutely not worth the ridiculous price and the bottles are trash, but I'm glad to have a 10ml decant, it'll last me forever.

well blended, lovely camphorous ambery opening- its magical the camphor stays for quite awhile the drydown is strong- the camphor leaves and it turns more on the womanly side- with the amber dominating and becoming sweeter and more rosy love the beginning more than the drydown nice and strong throughout would work well on a man or a woman

Off The Paper Strip Clean As If Your'e In A Dentist Chair Swirling Mouthwash But With A Lingering Sweetness As If They Gave You A Lollipop On The Way Out hahahahaha Off The Skin Its Is Warmer, Woodier And Sweeter More Amber Shines Through. Very Interesting Fragrance, Worth Getting Your Nose On To Try.

So hard to describe. I get that church smell like in Babycat and it evokes such consoling feelings of comfort and safety. And a bit of mystery. Reminds me of childhood going to church with my family and grandparents. Feels solemn and grand in the best way possible. So intriguing. Adore it!

This perfume is truly insane. It's expensive, but it's worth it. There weren't many perfumes that fascinated me in an instant, but I felt this perfume and couldn't help but buy it. I hope you can feel this perfume that made my hobby shine.

A smooth amber-oud fruity fragrance with a masterfully blend of osmanthus, ambergris, sandalwood, rose and “Oud”.This is a beautiful fragrance worth sampling. Never blind buy.

It is very boozy ambery scent, very elegant and mature. It has little animalic hints but in dark way not a funk.

I haven't tried Alexandria III, but I don't think this compares to Alexandria II. Its woody, its a little boozy, and you do pick up that ambergris. As I am nearly finished with the Electimuss discovery set, I have mixed feelings. This like many of the rest is plagued with being mediocre. There are a couple of standouts, some just barely ok. But most are mediocre. Giving the price point, it is a shame. One not it the set that I like is Jupiter. I may get that at a discounter of possible. With a few more left to try I think the standouts so far are Vanilla Edisia, Patchouli of the Underworld, Imperium, and Astrum Nova. Not that they are break throughs by any means. I just think those are done in a manner which I like. I may pick up Imperium and Jupiter. The rest will probably fade away from memory. Except Patchouli of the Underworld. I love that but my wife hates it. Ughhh

A nicely composed spiced amber. It has an orange tinged amber base, a good dose of vanilla and woodiness and there are plenty of other amber fragrances that do this too, but the floral and citrus (and unnoted spices) aspects of this are what makes it. The rose mixes with the citrus and cinnamon and other fall like spices (think mace/nutmeg) to have this invigorating top layer over that semi sweet boozey amber and vanilla base. Very well balanced interplay between these elements. Personally although I think this is quite good I don't think it's worth upgrading to a full bottle for it's pricing when I have many other ambers and very spiced ones in my collection already such as Tauer's Sundowner, but I think this is a fragrance that would please a lot of people.

This went UP in my collection, I really like it! One of the best boozy ambers I have tried. So addictive, I been wearing it non stop since I got it. Everyone that smells it love it, even up close. I feel different and opulent when I Wear it, smells of high class. The cognac accord is beautiful and the sweetness here doesn’t feel that mature, thing that I prefer in this type of scents. Some people don’t like the opening, because It can be at bit much, but I like this fragrance from start to finish. This is very unique, but ..If you like fragrances like Roja Enigma, pretty sure you gonna like this. Opening could be a tad smoother, but quality here is still pretty good.

When most folks first smell this perfume, it might come across as a bit unusual, almost like a funky sweat or something. That's because of the top-notch ambergris that feels pretty earthy and animalistic. But as it settles in, it takes on this unique quality. It's not super bright, but there's something interesting about how it feels cool on the skin during the dry down. The final impression is just lovely, rich, and enchanting. A very complex perfume. It’s hard to understand. But if you can handle its presence, you reach the highest level in the world of perfumes. The first hour is truly challenging and not very pleasant. However, the perfume then transforms into a luxurious masterpiece. I use this scent when I want to keep my distance from people and want them to respect me. When I don’t want to be a friend, but a leader. Choosing the right time to wear it is not easy. Don’t expect compliments but rather acknowledgment. Amber Aquilaria is not an ordinary perfume. It’s a bodyguard.

Pleasing high quality Oriental chypre with a minimalist construction approach. The scent opens with a fresh burst of bergamot and transitions to a heart of rose and cognac. The perfume soon settles into a dense powdery bed of ambergris, oud, sandalwood and vanilla. The unisex scent has moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. A sophisticated easy to wear Oriental that will find a lot of fans. Enjoy!

Amber Aquilaria is a rich, beautiful yet uninviting fragrance. Very heavy cognac with a sweet and woody backbone. Easy for me to like but hard to wear. Definitely very masculine in my opinion, and I wouldn’t wear this in warmer weather, and probably not as a daily driver either. It is very unique and most definitely polarizing to the general public. I’d wear it on a special occasion.

A woody amber scent with an intriguing, almost medicinal, melange of fruit and spice on top. Is it the oud or the cognac, perhaps both? A piercing opening of sharp citrus and booze, an itchy dusting of cinnamon and peach fuzz, a hint of airy rose in the heart. Strong projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 12hr+.

Opens with aromatic herbs and fresh spices with some minty and licorice undertones. It has rich resinous base, but the general vibe is still sort of fresh and cooling (I think I feel more of an ambergris rather than actual amber) with prominent salty/aquatic accord. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Cognac, amber and oud. This is a slightly animalic amber, but not in a bad way at all. Would I wear this? No, but I could appreciate it on a man.

Delicious opening, but then it vanishes in a matter of minutes, not even a skin scent

A cognac soaked, boozy, gigantic bomb of bergamot and an almost spicy green chrysanthemum scented oud note, at once sharp and medicinal, opens up rather violently during the opening. It actually felt like it burnt my nostrils and the back of my throat initially and I actually recoiled from my own wrist. Gradually, it does become more friendly thanks to some vanilla and the powdery rose florals. Sandalwood also stops it being too spikey and jagged as well, as it softens the stern edge. I think it turns quite smokey in the drydown and makes me think of a gilded art nouveau style ash tray that's littered with the ash and remains of many smoked cigarettes. I can imagine a scene where yet another one is snubbed out and can see the whisps of smoke twirling upwards, caught in the light of the rising sun. The bodies of the guest the morning after the party are all languishing in various places in some decadent furnished lounge. They drape themselves over ornate furniture and cocoon themselves into expensive furs they've thrown over themselves in an attempt to try and catch some sleep. Their hair is dishevelled and their velvet and silk clothing is reeking of booze, last nights sweat, and all of the tobacco and incense smoke that partied throughout the night with them.

I am still struggling with the discovery set, some of them I tried twice to have a clear impression, some could tolerate only once.So far I can say they are either dupes/twists (Imperium-Aventus+Ani,Trajan-BR540,Vixere-Opera,Moroccan Medjool-Lamar),very masculine-leaning (Gladiator Oud, Capua,Auster etc) and/or unpleasantly weird (sadly many).I liked Spice D.Arno,Vanilla Edesia,Moroccan Medjool and loved Mercurial Cashmere.The patchouli-ones I will not comment because I do not like patchouli. This one starts with a smoky masculine Cognac-note which remains prominent for me until the sweeter Amber-Vanilla DD.This one is masculine-leaning too and heavy,better for cold weather.Not recommended for a job inetrview or AA-meetings

Nice scent profile but seemingly poor execution. I’m getting an imbalanced rose, and a weird mix of orange and cognac. Goes stale in no time flat. Smells like old clothes. One of those very skin chemistry dependent fragrances. If the scent is perky; It may seem like a refined, resinous, boozy amber. Stays mostly close to the skin.

It opens up with a sterile and clean cognac. Not at all like the sweet and more interesting cognac in Roja Enigma pour Homme. After that some dill-y sandalwood enters. Then some tamed vanilla and oud. It doesn't smell bad, but it's very mediocre. Boring. It makes no statement. 5,5/10

first impression: Sooooooooo sweet in the opening, sickenly sweet to the point it almost choked my nose, it's like drinking cough syrup but with your nose. The oud is there, behind the sweet coating. like others have said, nothing special.

Initially it came across as sweet and stale after 2.5 hour dry down I smelled an ambery sickly sweet stale oder... not a fan glad I bought the discovery set instead of wasting money on this.

“Did you spill alcohol on yourself? What’s that dental-clinic sweetness?” shrieked my 14 year old co-reviewer. And in my opinion, he wasn't off, by even a bit. Just that I was still standing in the guys house, who just gifted me a bottle of ALD’s Chinese Oud & shared his last expensive purchase Amber Aquilaria @electimusslondon Once in the car, I pull out the wet-wipes (thanks to ChinaVirus) to get it off my skin, only to remember he also gave me a sample. So I bunker-down & proudly, not happily, take one on the chin (rather nose) for my fellow enthusiasts. The beastly opening comprises of the modern fragrance opioid, tooth-rotting sweetness paired with a generic industrial cognac, served with a dash of bergamot. If you love your Hennessy & Rémy Martin, Godspeed! Honestly, Amber Aquilaria smells exactly like ‘Corex’, (a codeine phosphate, ephedrine hydrochloride & alcohol rich) cough syrup which yours truly deeply indulged in, for a cheap, effective & true high during university days. Vile! I don't know what bothers me more, the fact that Aquilaria (Oud) exists almost only in the name, or that it costs almost an astounding US $500. 🥴🤢🥴 Instagram: @Eclectic.Scents

This stuff is foul. Cmon, let’s not pretend to “be sophisticated” by saying we like something that smells like bandaids, grape kool-ade and burnt rubber only because it carries a prestige price tag. (That’s the same mentality that leads groups of people to do horrible things. Pause...think?). Well-made stinky cheese at least TASTES good. This has no redeeming value other than, “I WISH I was sporting a throwaway pair of $3k aviators and a Tesla tank.”
