Black Caviar

Gorgeous smoothly blended aquatic with the class of a fougere. Sets it's stall out straight away with a salted brine note that reminds me of standing in an overcast breezy cove, inhaling the surrounding air, suffused with the microfine droplets of sea spray. Part of this experience is enhanced by the herbal nature of the ingredients (sage, oakmoss) that build on this olfactory 'painting', adding the layers of dark green sea flora to the deep blue grey of the wet saltiness. As Black Caviar dries down, the lavender refines the experience further, broadening the heart phase with its fougere twist, finally revealing vetiver and patchouli, adding a subtle layer of vegetal terra firma. The experience from start to finish is like a slow walk over several hours away from the very edge of the sea to the dunes further inland. I thought Megamare was my reference 'Oceanic' scent, but Black Caviar makes it seem simplistic, blunt and bombastic by comparison. Zoologist Squid, tested side by side, seems really quite flat by comparison and I didn't quite realise just how particularly nauseating the plastic/adhesive 'Ink" note was in Squid from the very start! Longevity 8hrs easy, projection decent and sillage beautifully wafty and airy, I am certain I'll be getting a full bottle of Black Caviar VERY soon. It's blummin' lovely. P.S. It's an amazing fragrance, don't be discouraged by folks saying is somehow smells like seaweed - that's completely not true. I smelled this earlier today at ZGO San Francisco. This is an amazing elegant signature scent daily wear fragrance. I know this sounds weird but you just got to trust me on this please. I know the notes, I know the breakdowns , I sprayed the sample took the sample home with me and smelled it in car the whole way home. I got a spicy, minty Apple from this fragrance. I don't know what actual caviar smells like but honestly I don't care. I got a spicy minty Apple that's elegant refreshing uplifting and was pleasantly surprised of the longevity on the dry down. This is one of those rare fragrances that on the dry down it impressed me more than when it was first sprayed on paper even though it smelled amazing on paper. I look at the note break down and go "huh" because that's the smell I got. It amazing - i do believe that some of the ppl who reviewed this before me are just straight up trolling for no reason. My only thought is there are some outright plain spoken lies - but to be honest I've seen that on fragrantica before. Do yourself a favor - find a retailer and get your nose on this and decide for yourself. Sincerely -crusader wingman.

A nice aromatic, somewhat aquatic, opening with the mint and sage which soon becomes herbal and fresh on my skin. This is certainly a masculine scent and I can envision this being worn well with a fine suit or at a black tie event. I'm sure this would garner many compliments for any man from all genders, as it's an addictive and invigorating fragrance. This is a green marine, an ocean made of sapphires and emeralds. The caviar note, if that is what my nose detects, isn't fishy at all, but is salty. The lavender and mint, which I believe is an ingredient, keeps things cool. This is like walking along the Atlantic coast, on a rocky shore, during a cold day, whilst the icy wind whips the ocean spray onto your face. Honestly, this perfume is invigorating for me in this same way and takes my mind to such a moment. This didn't have much lasting power on me, unlike others from this house, but it's a talented herbal-aquatic scent that I think would suit most men. Edit - I tried this more and also got my partner to wear it and I take back the it doesn't have lasting power. It is actually very strong and my nose must have been having some fatigue when I tried it before it seems. I have changed this to a love; it's glorious!

I'll get some weird looks for this association, but have you ever woken up on a warm, sunny weekend morning, stretching and yawning, and your body (or your partner) subtly radiates a warm, pleasant musk? (and yes, I'm referring to the armpit region). Not an animal or synthetic musk, not a "milky skin" scent (looking at you Ghost in the Shell), but a sauna-like musk. Not "sweaty" or "onion-like" to be clear. This is what Black Caviar smells like to me on skin. It is the first time I've smelled a fragrance with a genuine human musk, whether that was the intention or not. Extremely sensual, seductive, addictive smell, I can picture this being the perfect fragrance for a date night. I've never had caviar, though I've passed by it at supermarkets that carry it in their more "luxurious" foods section like Wegmann's, but I can't recall what it smelled like. This doesn't smell like fish at all, and I strongly dislike the taste and smell of fish (with the exception of battered cod). I do agree there's a degree of saltiness to it which might be a significant contributing factor to why I think it creates a very pleasant musky human skin scent.

I've worn this 5 times now because I wanted to take my time with reviewing this juice.This is my first time experiencing Electimuss and I'm impressed. The craftsmanship to make this work much have taken a lot of trial and error. THIS is what I expect from niche perfume. How did they blend oud and caviar together and not make it stomach turning? The caviar note smells aquatic but not fishy at all. It's slightly salty and briney, but it's so smooth that you could actually pull this off at a black tie event. There's aromatic and fougere like touches as well as orris I believe Super classy and super unique. I haven't smelled anything close to this in perfumery. Conjurers images of a wearing a suit at a seaside event. Very strong performer as well. Same vibe (but different scent) as Tom Ford Oud Wood which also makes me think of a wearing a suit. Also somewhat similar to Amouage Interlude but with marine touches. A nighttime version of Sarah Baker Atlante? 🌊 Scent 8/10 Performance 8/10

I tried so hard not to like this one. Only because I am loving everything I’ve tried from this house. And the perfumes are quite expensive. So yet again I found another I love. This one is so well made, I love how it changes on my skin and lasts such a long time. Currently I only have a 8ml decant from Max Aroma, but I’m off to order a bottle. Along with Mercurial Cashmere which I also love. The one I’m really obsessed with and have several backups of is Amber Aquilaria . It’s such an intoxicating blend and I just can’t stop smelling my wrist. So good. Oh my goodness it’s an absolute must have. One of my bottles has been macerating for years and now it’s incredible. I use it sparingly because I don’t want it to finish.

An elegant, complex, and unisex aquatic. Of all the perfumes in Electimuss' 20-sample discovery set, this is one of my favorites. All Electimuss perfumes are extremely high quality and connote money, power, and luxury. The vibe is not what I'm usually trying to project in the world, but I really appreciate it as a lesson in quality. This cool, aromatic fragrance opens very bright and spicy–imagine the fanciest possible toothpaste. It develops into a gourmet, mint-heavy aquatic that actually makes my mouth water. Despite its formality and coldness, this is a very sexy perfume. A more masculine vetiver note starts to appear as time passes, but it remains unisex to my nose. Longevity is incredible.

I completely agree with "The Wolf's" entire assessment of this scent. The notes on the surface would definitely make one pause; but once sampled, it is bordering brilliance with how they've been able to blend these notes without making them off-putting. This definitely has me imagining myself wearing a tuxedo or black suit. Very refined, aromatic, and sophisticated scent. Quite different from anything I've ever put my nose on - which is what I look for in niche scents. This is a standout that not everyone will like because of it's uniqueness - similar to Amouage Interlude Man (not in scent, but delivery).

If you think this smells fishy, then I would suggest doing a reassessment on another day. This is all season aromatic aquatic. Although the notes pyramid shows a less than appetizing composition, it is surprising versatile and mass appealing, making it appropriate for any event thrown your way. A mega love. Slightly masculine. Non-opposing style, decorous, great longevity, moderate sillage. Edit: I have full bottles of both Roja Dove's Apex and this one. They are about 90% similar, but this one being slightly cleaner and more aquatic. Apex has a more pronounced savory note present.

When I first tried this fragrance I did not like it, however second time I was intrigued. Salty and powdery, I have never experienced a fragrance like this. It lasts, so beware you will be smelling it for the next 10+ hours (and that is not oversprayed....God help you if you overspray!!!) and it is a fragrance you really need to be in the mood to wear. It is beautiful and unique, but choose when you want to wear it because you will get comments and you will be smelling it for hours! I now love this fragrance but it is a special occasion wear for me.

People get the name stuck in their heads and they pre-judge this fragrance as "fishy". Nothing could be further from the truth. Brilliant blend. Aromatic, minty, slightly aquatic. Fresh and airy feeling, yet long wearing and full-bodied. Four season, day or night. More of a dressed up vibe because it just exudes quality and elegance. Performance is exactly what you expect from an Electimuss parfum. Excellent longevity, projection and gorgeous sillage. This is an absolutely beautiful fragrance.

This one is weird... I love it but it is weird. I get a deep cold salty ocean vibe, i dont know if i am affected by the name or not but i do get that vibe also i get the sage and lavender and a minty patcholi not earthy patcholi all mixed togther and i dont get anything animalic from it. I used it in kuwait summer heat and it performed really well and smelled amazing. This house is becoming one of my favorites. 12-july-2020

A lovely herbal salty fragrance. It starts with a fresh hit of something minty, the salt comes in almost immediately. The mint gives way to sage and rosemary, for me after about 20 mins. The salt stays all the way through. The patchouli and woods are balanced. My other half likes it and had compliments whilst out shopping. For me this is a unique fragrance. From the large sample set, this is the one I bought.

I really like this fragrance. Does remind me of caviar and has a somewhat sweet initial spray. Does remind me of the ocean or some aquatic environment. Quite nice. I’ll have to make a positive note on this bottle. I am also getting a nice herbal anise, earthy like vibe. Mixed with the oceanic elements really projects. Fragrance is really what I am looking for. Quite a calming soothing projection.

This does not smell like Profumum Roma Acqva Di Sale. It's a colder and darker marine and aromatic scent. Not something I'd wear in the heat (like Acqva Di Sale) but appropriate for mild to cool temps. Probably the only marine scent that one could pull off at a black tie event. A Tom Ford suit worn to a soiree by the beach on a cool evening. That is the picture that best describes this scent.

Beautiful, unique, fresh but rich scent. Haven't smelled anything like it. Great in heat but could be worn year round due to the richness. I love this more every time u wear it. Have received a compliment from a stranger, just illustrating how this completely niche frag stands out in the air. Nothing designer or middle of the road here. A masterful fresh aquatic.

This is so interesting. Super salty and powdery on my skin. It is somewhat yummy. Mouthwatering to my nose at least. I love the fact that is is absolutely unique. Nothing like this in my over 100 bottles of niche fragrances. Not a blind buy. But if your nose likes different fragrance profiles, then you will enjoy it. I would rate this in my top 10 easily.

One of the most universal and unique scents at the same time. Suitable for all 4 seasons, better for daytime imo... Although it's kinda salty, and aquatic, it's not so close to Acqua di Sale, it is far more versatile. On first smell, it is kinda of weird, but after 3 times of wearing it, you'd love it. That's my review as a male.

At first aromatic, then fresh. The caviar part is minty/fresh, not fishy at all. More of a freshwater caviar than salt. No resemblance to Aqua di Sale or similar aquatics. Reminds me a lot of Womanity, which is sweeter though and a floral kind of caviar, Black Caviar is more herbal. Very nice and totally unisex.

Reminds me of Sel Marin quite a bit, which I love but....I believe it's the lavender that takes it into a slightly different direction and changes the fragrance from being close to Sel Marin. If that makes sense. lol It just rounds out some of the edges that SM has. I really enjoy it.

Absolutely hate the smell and taste of any fish but get no reference to that all on my skin. Overall it gives off a unique, clean salty bubble on me which I absolutely love. I find it very addictive and keep going back in for another sniff. Excellent longevity too.

It is challenging scent for sure, but I like this kind of unique scent, as it is not your common summer fresh clean one. It is very sharp aquatic from the caviar note, however it is well balanced by the other note. Performance and projection are very good.

A thing of beauty. I was feeling down all day, then I put this on my arms and felt a sudden breeze of joy. I was reminded of a marble palace, palm fans, the sound of the lyre and flutes, and a hedonist dropping grapes into his mouth. Just what I needed.

for people who like to smell unique this is it. for the people who are complaining about the fishy smell probably have weak stomachs or have not smelled the perfume. it is a well-balanced scent with the caviar and the aromatix

If you want something different and unique look no further. This is heaven. Even if my sotd is not Black Caviar I often just smell it from the cap. This is my best find in 2024. So smooth, so luscious and rich. Great one.

Love this. It's really herbal to my nose and so wonderfully aromatic! It also has that savory aquatic kind of vibe that brings it all together, ultimately living up to its name. All around a lovely scent.

I had a 2ml sample and finally found an Electimuss that I really enjoyed. Amazing scent in the air and on my skin. Doesn’t have the longevity that I like but this could definitely be on my buy list 2026.

I don't get the note of caviar but I definitely get a slight saltiness and coolness as if I'm by the sea. He's not like the other guys. This is a love for me. The only problem is the price.

It is absolutely unisex imo, it calms me down, it's very herbal. I don't smell the caviar at all, no saltines whatsoever, just beautiful herbs.

Smells like epsom bath salts and fancy lotion. Great performance and lots of depth. Love this stuff

Celebrated in the Electimuss line-up, curiosity led me to a partial bottle for a fair price. Black Caviar is an unique, interesting perfume, but remains wearable. Its scent can be summarised as a sweetish, saltyish aromatic mix of lavender-geranium freshness. When I first smelled the nozzle, I smelled the salty mineral character of Oud Minerale. However, side-by-side BC is a much brighter take on the salty aquatic, no where near as salty, damp or wet as OM. I'm also reminded distantly of Geranium pour Monsieur for its minty-ness and fresh sweetness. Before I knew the scent well, the initial spray was much like oceanic sea spray, misted and salty. However, Black Caviar breaks away from the conventions of a 'blue' scent. The scent isn't overloaded or carried by ambroxan. Instead, the blue you feel is oceanic and salty. Alongside, aromatic coolness presents itself from lavender and mint. The scent grants a very clean and fresh aura. Within the scent there's a plastic vinyl accord, not unlike that found in Oud Wood or Oud Minerale, likely an artefact formed from sage and oud. Whilst nice in Oud Wood, here it presents as dissonant and alien. It's odd but not a deal-breaker. Over its wear, it becomes diffuse: sweet, salted, fresh and aromatic. Black Caviar is clean, masculine and cool. Over subsequent wears, I became accustomed to the scent. Black Caviar has a surprising sweetness, balanced against the delicate saltiness of the scent. The plasticky character loses its prominence. Though unique, Black Caviar is not a weird fragrance at all. Very wearable, though much more suited for warmer conditions. Personally, I find the scent slightly thin and lacking in development, which is why it's a like only. EDIT: The more I wear this scent, the more I realise there's nothing like it. Utterly unique and puzzling how so many contrasting elements can work so well together. Masterpiece, can't wait to wear it in warmer weather.

Wow... I didn’t expect this, but I really like you, Black Caviar. I came in with a strong bias. After all, my relationship with caviar barely goes beyond flying fish roe; so what was I supposed to do with “caviar-inspired” notes? Yet at its core, this turns out to be far less about caviar itself and much more about something intriguingly aromatic and enigmatic. In the opening, I pick up a marine note, along with salt and an inky nuance; followed almost immediately by lavender. Other aromatics weave around it as well, and toward the drydown, rosemary becomes especially noticeable. At that point it briefly flirts with fougère territory... then quickly pivots away. There’s a very soft, subtly sweet undertone running quietly in the background, though I can’t quite pin it down. At the same time, the scent feels savory; not in a culinary sense, but more in that elusive umami way. I never thought I’d use that word in a perfume review, yet here we are. As the fragrance evolves, it drifts toward something almost ethereal. While the marine, inky, salty, savory character remains intact, rosemary plays a key role; those sensitive to it may find it prominent. It even overtakes the lavender at times, though I personally enjoy that shift. Interestingly, I also sense something faintly lactonic and creamy beneath it all. Overall, this feels genuinely sophisticated and, to my nose, truly unique. Note: It doesn’t resemble Acqua di Sale or Black Sea. If we’re talking purely about a soft marine facet, yes; there’s a distant overlap there but beyond that, this is something entirely different! Somewhat of an aqua di sale vibe ! Somewhat ! Layer it with beach hut man and bingo ! If u really let it come to your nose wafting here n there...it can kinda pass of as a beach hut man . The black caviar i have never eaten let aside even smelt , so cant say. Overall it is mildly salty, aquatic, breezy, light effervescent green-ish, soft, diffusing aromatic mix. Definitely pleasant for mature noses...almost old school retro cologne rather than a modern perfumery. Pulls masculine and classy. Older males with class and elegance are best suited for it. Nothing like megamare at all !! Thats another beast from a different dimension or depth...u decide !

Acqua di sale? ORE??!! Man I don’t get the former from this but definitely not the latter, very surprised to see the Ore reminds-me-of.. this isn’t like anything I’ve smelled so far in a fragrance that I can think of. I was worried that it would be too similar to the trend of seaweed salty type marine scents in the niche world but it’s totally unique. The only thing that isn’t 100% unique is the dna from the House itself. Not that it smells like any others from the house per-se, but clearly has the dna of the House in the way that Ormonde Jayne and some others tend to have. It’s not bad! Not fbw for me but I do think it smells good.

Interesting and Unique. No one around you will smell like this. I find the opening and mid absolutely pleasant, invigorating and get beautiful whiffs for 4 hours atleast. Not fishy on my skin and not too salty as well. This combines aquatic notes beautifully with the aromatics I only wish I enjoyed the drydown more. After 5 hours it changes a lot and the combination of Vetiver, Patchouli and oakmoss is not my favourite part. I barely get any patchouli. The Vetiver is there for sure but not very natural smelling. Wish they had added some cedar or better smelling musk/sandalwood to round it out a bit

Just got this today, was curious about all the talk about the “fishy” smell and I really wanted to find out how the caviar note would come across. Just a regular guy with a regular nose who loves fragrances and what I’m getting is a dark green oceanic scent. Very clean slightly salty, the best and most accurate description I can give and that you’ll probably get is this. Think if Bvlgari Aqua Atlantique had an “elixir” or parfum version and it would be this 1000%.

Unique modern fougere that has a noirish feel to it and a twisty design. The perfume interestingly begins with woody smoky notes of oud, cedar and caviar leading to an aromatic heart of lavender, sage and rosemary. The perfume settles on a powdery bed of oakmoss, vetiver and patchouli. The masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. Adventurous perfume lovers need to give this a try. Enjoy!

A cool and unusual perfume! It really has a recognizable caviar note - salty, fresh and protein-like - unmistakably caviar. Was very curious to see if making this note work in perfume is possible, and it is! Here it is surrounded by somewhat medicinal oud, strong herby metallic lavender and the fresher herbiness of sage. An opulent and strong perfume, definitely a signature scent candidate for the right person!

Very salty! The salt is up front and unapologetic. Marine in a realistic cold, deep ocean kind of way--not beachy. You have to enjoy salt notes to enjoy this, but if you do and are looking for an elevated and unique freshie, look no further. Miles away from anything that over utilizes calone (a good thing in my book). Comparisons to Acqua di Sale are apt, but they each do their own thing. Unisex.

One of my favorite from Zoologist is Squid. So i was excited to try this. Moving along in the discovery set and today I wore this. Great. I like it. Salty sea. Not inky like Squid. But the salt is unmistakable. The drydown is great. The salt stays a long time. Then I pick up the lavender then the patchouli at the end. Going on my want list because who doesn't want to be salty sometimes.

Not nearly as salty as I expected. I get more of an herbal, spicy black liquorice mixed with hint of permanent marker, but in an attractive way? It’s so alluring and begs for the curiosity of others. Not bad at all, but definitely not for everyone. I think a middle-aged european guy wearing a black felt trench coat, who looks like he has somewhere to be could pull this off.

Pretty solid option with decent performance. Smells a bit like Douleur Bogue without the melon, it's very wearable and also pretty unique and interesting. Oceanic without being ozonic or artificial. There is certainly a lot of flowery stuff going on but it's primarily an ocean-y scent. Agree with the others, this is not fishy.

Ehhh. What is this? A+ for creativity lol. Doesn’t smell exactly like caviar, thankfully... Starts out shockingly good. Not fishy. Woody. Green and minty. Aromatic vetiver. Very unique. Deteriorates a bit thereafter. Surreal idea. I guess they were going for a “money scent,” and they got it...I guess.
