Trajan

For a parfum at 25% on the box this is airy and light on my skin. It Lasts for a long time but sits closer to me. This might be a lot stronger then I can perceive because of the ambergris so I won't make a final judgement as I just recently got a bottle but have had time with 10ml of decants. I can smell it the entire time (8-10hrs) as opposed to BR540 and it has no downsides. BR can smell like burnt plastic, super salty, latex and so on, and this doesn't at all. For a guy I can pull this off 100% and BR sometimes makes me fell like it leans a bit fem. Definitely has that creamy vanilla lemon pie thing in the dry down people talk about. I will use this for layering as well as it blends so well with other scents do to its light airiness. Overall if you want the BR540 DNA with high quality ingredients at a cheaper price and none of weird downsides get this. Just bought a bottle at discounters for $118 usd and its a steal. Between a like and love at the moment. Edit: This may not be beast mode but its lasts forever as a true parfum should and sends out wafts every now and then and just elevates the scent profile of BR540. I definetly recommend getting your nose on this. Banger. Edit 2: This lasts ages. I can confirm that even thought it seems to be a light wear the ambergris makes you go semi nose blind. People can pick this up in hours 7-10 and love how its smells and Ive thought its just a skin scent. More than a few times Ive over sprayed this and wake up the next day smelling it again as my nose has reset thinking it was totally gone before I went to bed. So, I guess I can confirm after about 8 hours or so I get fatigued, but it's an amazing 8 hours. The more I wear this the more I like it. BR 540 who?

scored a brand new sealed bottle for $127. Yay! regular BR540 plays a disappearing act, so I didn't want it, although I love the smell. BR540 Extrait was just not a love for me. too heavy! It wasn't sweet and airy like the original. Managed to sell it and bought this instead with $200 to spare! This is BEAUTIFUL. It's airy, like original BR540, but smoother, lighter and just far more wearable. It also does not disappear, yet it is longer lasting with great sillage. It has blood orange which makes it different, so yes, I'll be smelling similar to half of Boston, but I'll be smelling just that much better! I also plan to layer it with many of my fragrances, as I did with the BR54 Extrait that I owned. I find that it would work well all seasons, so very versatile. Update: first day wearing this fragrance outside, and at the very end of my work day, literally a half hour left of my 8 hour day, and I got a lengthy compliment from a co worker. This fragrance was still projecting cause I wasn't very close to her. She demanded to know the name of my perfume. I showed her this but also showed her BR540 which she took a screen shot of since it's readily available in stores.

This one really suprised me. I don’t think I will say anything that hasn’t already been said, but this is the only version inspired by BR that could stand toe to toe with it. Many of the other fragrances suggest BR540 but are either too musky, too cloying, too cheap smelling etc. Trajan smells high end, complex, and it lasts. It is a touch brighter making it year round - unlike BR540, which can be too much in the summer. It is also sweeter but in an elevated and not at all an immature way. There is a lemony facet that starts fresh and turns caramelized in the drydown. Someone compared it to Lira and I agree. A nice close wearing hint of the caramelized citrus in Lira combined with the over all feeling and weight of BR540 - minus the latex note. I own 540 and 540 Extrait. That said, nothing compares to BR540 Extrait, it is glorious perfection but it is expensive for daily wear. I have found my replacement for 540 though and will not buy a new bottle when it runs out. Trajan is better and you get many more MLs for the money. 🍋 What’s not to love.

Thank you, Fragranticians! When I first sprayed my sample, Trajan was so instantly familiar, but confoundingly elusive to name! Absolutely BR540 is that elusive and familiar scent! That is, after BR540 puts its sledgehammer away (not a big fan of the omnipresent BR540.) Trajan, at outset, is softer and more rounded with subtlely sweet citruses. As it settles, it blooms and seems to float above the skin. Lavender, saffron and sage blend to form a scent cloud around you. Dry down is warm. Cedar lends slight woodsiness. Oakmoss grounds the entire composition. During far dry down, I could barely detect warm traces of Trajan up close on my skin. But, light breezes on this warm and sunny Indian Summer day, carried whiffs of it in the air surrounding me (others noticed with quite a few compliments.)

This does have similarities to BR540 yet to me it has a more prominent citrus vibe which I love. It also has a less harsh opening than BR540 edp (extrait opening is phenomenal). This is well worth the 210usd retail price tag for a 100ml of pure perfume extrait juice. I’m somewhat of a collector but if I just wanted to smell good I would buy this over BR540 as you get more for your money and it has this somewhat vanilla-ish undertone which I adore. Edit: I originally said this was better than BR540 extrait on price alone...my update is I prefer the composition better as well. The dry down is a creamy gourmand leaning beauty. Anyways, had to add these thoughts as well.

Really lovely scent. I sprayed my arm twice a couple hours ago and it’s projecting nicely around me. This one lasts a long time on my skin and hair. It’s a warm, sweet, citrusy scent. I definitely understand the comments about it smelling like an orange/lemon cake, but it’s not a gourmand. I think it will wear well all year except in very high heat or extreme cold. I’ll test it this winter. I have nothing to compare it to (never smelled BR540), but I love it so far. It’s solidly unisex. Great fragrance for events where you want to smell good, but you don’t want to wear something super strong or loud.

100% BR 540 DNA with a tinge of citrus, A LOT less harsh vs BR 540. A more refined BR540 that is much less nuclear, but lasts just as long. I feel that this has a sliver of caramel and leather that blends well with that hint of citrus. I also pick up a bitter note in the midst of the sweetness. Perhaps these small touches are what distract/cover up the syntheticness that was BR540's burnt cotton candy. It is still BR540's burnt sugar, but with much rounder edges. Beautiful. 4.95/5, dropped points due to lack of originality, but oh my god so beautiful.

This is a super yummy dopamine hit and, on me, it dries down kinda smoky. I do think it's unisex and maybe leans a little masculine on the dry down. I'd be happy to wear it, especially in Fall and Winter, though I've heard that, with the citruses, it performs really nicely in warmer weather. If I smelled this on a man, I'd be very, VERY interested in him! I prefer it to BR540 (and the anosmia is real on that one, NOT this one!) but the price tag is not much less exorbitant. I have a sample now but it may be a splurge item for me this year.

Just like I can’t smell Baccarat rouge 540, I also can’t smell this synthetic mess. I don’t know why so many ppl like 540, it’s an overpriced synthetic mess that I can’t smell. A lot of ppl can’t either. What a waste of money. Even ppl who can smell it say it smells sweet. Really? That’s what you’re spending $450 for? A sweet smell? So sad. I know of many amazing gourmands that smell more than just “sweet”. Try Kerosene Unknown pleasures. You’ll thank me later. And it’s under $150. It’s so good that I want to bite my wrist. Mmmm

Trajan is indeed inspired by BR540, but I find this creation to be a lot more refined and masterfully blended, without any rough edges. The pressurized atomizer on this is amazing and helps to distribute the fragrance more evenly across your skin or clothes. You still get the same burnt sugar vibes coupled with the airy sweetness, but without penetrating everyone else’s nose in your area. Trajan is also just a touch fresher and slightly vanillic, making it a more complex and versatile choice that can be worn year-round.

On initial wear I agree this is BR 540 but you can smell it the whole Time. It lasted about 8-10 hours or so. The thing is it came back the next day and I was getting faint wafts of it after I showered (obviously) and while I was wearing another fragrance 24 hours later. This is some interesting juice. I have to give it a few more wears for a full review. Smells great and if you’re a guy that enjoys BR 540 you will enjoy this. It’s also cheaper and this house has nothing but quality from the 4 fragrances I have sampled.

I'm not one to compare everything to Baccarat but this is honestly a more citrusy full bodied version of 540 and doesn't do the disappearing act. Citrus is sweet and smooth, not sour or sharp. The blood orange gives off a soft candied-like citrus aroma on my skin. Probably the most crowd pleasing scent from the house. Edit: Over a year later and this one is easily top 15 for me. Ordering my second bottle soon as I have obliterated my first one. With the size of my collection, that speaks for itself. Such an easy reach.

At first, you just smell BR540. After, it condenses into a citrusy, sweety, and powdery smell. Trajan settles into a totally different perfum. I prefer the complexity of this one over BR540. However, BR540 has stronger and colder smell than this one, which I prefer. So far, I feel like you could use trajan as a daily perfum and during a night out you could blend it with BR540. So you don’t have the same smell as everybody else plus you will smell fantastic. Edit: After 12+ hrs, the smell still there but very light.

Sweet 'n' spicy amberwoods. Primarily a heavy dose of saffron aerated by ambroxan + citruses, underpinned with fresh cedar + moss. Yep, it's Baccarat Rouge 540. A little more full-bodied than the original EDP, with added aromatics to give it some heft, yet not as dense as the Extrait. Very strong projection fades over 5-6hr, longevity 6-8hr. The citruses lend a slight orangey flavor that I find more interesting than the raw sugary sweetness of BR540, but Trajan doesn't have quite the same ethereal charm.

My absolute favorite. As others have stated, there is no denying the similarities to BR 540; however, this scent is even better. It is warmer, leans slightly more feminine in dry-down, and lasts longer. Add on that it is reasonably priced for it's complexity, and I was instantly sold. This is simultaneously light weight with strong sillage and great longevity. A whispy sweet & floral marshmallow. My new signature scent! UPDATE: tons of compliments on this one (mostly from other women).

Absolutely stunning perfume! Received 10ml decant a week ago and I am almost half way done (I have quite large collection) Yes, it does have some similarities with 540, but it is not a dupe and it doesn't have the medicinal touch. It is more wearable and reminds me of Katsura tree that smells like cotton candy in the fall with subtle touch of citrus in the opening blended so well and not reminding me of cleaner. I do own 540 and getting a full bottle off this amazing perfume!

Forget all the BR540 clones, this is it. Its the closest by scent, and I feel like I love it even more. The value is amazing since it costs twice as less while you get more oz, and the longevity is as good. There's something very comforting about the scent, its very well rounded, soft sweetness, a hug. Definitely signature scent worthy, will be my go to scent for the upcoming summer. Very unisex, would smell even better on a man if you compare to BR540. Love at first sniff.

As others stated, it is similar to BR540. But for me, it is less sweeter. When I wear BR540, I smell like a cherry scent through all the life of the perfume, but Trajan is different, you won't smell that, more like a citrusy note that it is not sweet at all. It is a great scent, but it is not BR540. It is different on its own way, but it can be mistaken with BR540. It is long lasting and people will notice it. On me it lasts a whole day.

I’m mostly nose blind to Baccarat Rouge 540, except for the Extrait and the body oil. This however I can smell all the time and I adore it. It has a sweet sugary opening and some warm caramel in the dry down. I can’t detect any of the citrus notes yet, but maybe after I’ve worn it some more. I blind bought a full bottle after recommendation from a friend, and I’m so glad I did! The longevity and projection is great, well worth the money!

Most likely getting a full bottle of this one. DEFINITELY inspired by BR if anyone from the Electimuss camp denies it I wouldnt trust anything they said again. That being said, I was not really in love with BR. This is the same smell, but with an added citrus twist, and it is GREAT. This and Oud Satin Mood are the only two fragrances I have put on and my girl could not keep her hands off of me.

I get the salt note the previous reviewer got upon initially spraying. Also the comet bathroom cleanser from another previous review. Neither are truly off-putting. Further along, a woodsie spice accord comes thru with citrus undertones. Later it becomes slightly powdery with minimal sweetness and the woodsie spice accord. A decent enough fragrance . . .but nothing remarkable.

Sampled it from Aromadeus.com I can see the resemblance with BR540 except Trajan is softer due to being less saffron-heavy. Overall very good, versatile and inoffensive. If you like soft-spicy fruity fragrances this one is a must try. Quite unisex and can be worn any season. Longevity and projection are strong but not eternal. Lasted about 6 hrs on skin and 10hrs on clothes.

top notes: minty citrus thats airy and sweet middle notes: sweet citrus still there thats almost candy like and airy base notes: not sure if it got to this point, cant smell after couple hours THIS IS BR540 extrait but more airy and intimate. This would be a 10 if it had longevity. overall 9.5/10. p.s great for layering with LIRA --> the ultimate layering duo... secrets out

I don't care for BR540 and all the B540 clones I've smelled. However, this one takes that familiar scent profile, dials up the blood orange and--BAM!-- suddenly the whole fragrance finds its footing and becomes irresistible. I'm truly surprised by how different such a small variance from the colossally overrated BR540 can make a scent. I'm really impressed with one.

One of the best blind buys I've ever had. For me it's the same as wearing Baccarat rouge 540 with the difference that at first it's more citrusy and with Trajan you'll feel the smell all the time, with Baccarat you don't always smell it. This perfume will please those who love Baccarat as well as those who hate it. For me it is a successful blind buy.

Fresh saffron, slightly sweet with a pleasant finish. Super long lasting and noticeable. Have had many compliments on this one. Less metallic than BR 540, creamier and rounder. This is what I wanted br540 to be with an added citrus twist (I love citrus) and the citrus really lingers around which is great. There’s no medical smell here (thank goodness) And though this is citrusy it’s still warm enough to wear during cold seasons so it’s a good all year around scent. It’s sweet, airy and slightly aromatic.

I guess i will be the first one to write a review about this beautifull fragrance. Simply put it smells like MFK Baccarat Rouge 540 edp but fresher with better performance and cheaper and 100 ml bottle so it is a winner in my books. Crazy to see this leans more feminine. While it's not a strong masculine fragrance, I definitely feel it leaning on that side of the spectrum. I love it, but my wife is an even bigger fan when I wear it. It is a very well-rounded fragrance and gives a very natural feel. Probably my easy go to grab.

People compare Trajan to BR540. Well, ya'll can compare all you want because I will take Trajan over BR 540 ANY DAY! Trajan is smooth and fruity and the saffron note is magical. This is a sophisticated citrus scent and I really enjoy wearing it in warmer weather.

To echo the other reviews, this is almost identical to MFK Baccarat Rouge 540. The sillage is amazing and it's longer lasting. It is now on my wishlist! I have sampled MFK's original on numerous occasions but it has poor longevity.

Great scent. I would consider getting it for myself and if people say that it's too feminine, I would buy it for my girlfriend. It's that good. Thanks to the lady in the niche fragrance store for pointing this one out to me.

Just sampled this and I’m definitely getting a full bottle soon. The added citrus to this DNA gives it a twist I didn’t know it needed. It makes it lighter, fresher and less dense unlike BR540 can be sometimes. 8/10 for me.

Better then BR540 and its not a clone its a twist you can clearly tell a noticeable difference even though it took inspiration it is not a clone at all performance is amazing for me smelled this on my hoodie a week later..

I get constant whafs of it 5 hours into the fragrance and even received a compliment on the first time I wore it. I rarely receive compliments btw 9/10 scent 8h+ longevity Very very good village but not room filling

great blend, first dupe ive tried that captures MFK sparkle from 540, i sold my 540 as i just oculdn't smell it after 1 min, this one so far i can, gotta spend more time with it, prob better than the TT version

I love this. But I’m BR 540 lover! If 540 is cool then Trajan is warm. This lasts and lasts. I always get compliments when I wear this gem. And honestly the price is really good imo. This is a love for me.

BR540 if you took away the bandaid note and replaced it with a sweet vanilla with hints of lemon. For those who don't know br540 it smells like lemon/vanilla cotton candy 9/10 dumb reach kinda fragrance

In all of its loveliness, there is an aspect of BR540 that shouts at its wearer. Trajan takes that shout away. This fragrance becomes much more “signature scent” worthy as a result.

I prefer this over br540. Br540 has like a spoiled beer smell while this has that same smell but dialed way back which makes this way more enjoyable. 10/10 💕

Close to br540 but less cloyingly sweet, more citrus and sharpness. Better. Slightly more masculine as well. Much easier to wear as a man. Great stuff.
