Vanilla Edesia

This is like, so, so complex. Probably the most complex vanilla I’ve ever had; Cecile is my fav perfumer so take my opinion with a pinch of salt. But no, really, she’s brilliant. It shares the same style with Enigma Parfum Cologne, and by that I mean it’s a woody, boozy vanilla that’s floral to the point it might remind some (not me) of things like a floral shower gel, a pot pourri, or a dish soap (the coriander seeds don’t help). It’s also a lot like Fahrenheit le Parfum with that coumin-y vanilla minus the violet leaves, but plus naturals and complexity. I love it though. The florality, mixed with dry pepper, bitter incense, creamy javanol (I bet there’s javanol here), powdery heliotropin, zesty mandarin... there’s every f’in thing here. Everything! Yet it seems seamless, like, it’s complete. Complex, complete AND with a texture, an actual texture which is so hard, and so rare (powdery is not enough to have a texture). That’s why I also vote for Memoirs (...) the second textural vanilla I cen remember of. Even the cumin - it’s not sweaty. But it’s oh, so much here. It’s just... perfect. This is unisex, and you can wear it everywhere and anytime except 20*C+. It’s probably going to be enjoyed by people that are 25+ mostly as this is complex, and spicy, maybe even retro in a way that some younger audience might think this is giving a grandma vibe. Me? I love it though, I only have two slight problems with it. I bet you this wasn’t Cecile’s idea but this wears western, but smells eastern. It’s long lasting, but after the opening it sits closer and closer to the skin. It becomes moderate, not say subtle. „Sensual.” Shit, I hate the westerners describing their perfume like it’s a slow, delicate blowjob. For the price and style this one is I want it to be at least an elbow, heck, arms length projection for at least 5 hours and I don’t get that. What is more, maybe it’s me, but Electimuss doesn’t have a BRAND to me. You know, they exist, but do they, really? Does electimuss mean anything to you? Textural, complete, natural, complex, seamless, finished. Perfection.

On opening alone, this may be one of the most interesting complex beautiful vanillas I've ever tried. This is not a gourmand vanilla; there is warmth and sweetness by virtue of the qualities of vanilla, yes, and the vanilla is very perceptible and characteristic, but in here, it's distinctly balsamic, resinous and smoky. What makes it so special is who surrounds it, and to me, the most prominent three peers are cumin, incense and patchouli. On blotter, I find the incense is most prominent; it's a smokey witchy vanilla that feels like you've wandered into the creakiest, coziest occult shop (where incense and candles burn simultaneously), but on skin it opens with the most beautiful cumin I've ever smelled in a fragrance. My issue with cumin as a fragrance material is that it often feels gratuitous; like a perfumer added it to add *a hook* or overdosed it specifically for the challenge. The cumin in here is perfectly balanced with coriander and they both feel NECESSARY. Cumin adds a distinct non-sweet kitchen spice and coriander and cooling anisic spice. A subtle but infinite patchouli creeps in almost like a secret path to some sort of vanilla abyss of which you'll never reach the bottom. And yet, despite all of these intricacies, there's something very *classic vanilla* about this. You do eventually reach the bottom, the drydown, where you are left with a classic creamy (almost lotiony), non-sweet, familiar vanilla, that's easy and comforting. The dry down is far less interesting than the journey there, but is very pleasant no less. LOVELY vanilla.

On my skin it smells like a heavily spiced caramel. I smell the cumin and coriander if I put my nose very close to my skin, but from a few inches away it all blends well together to give that sweet spiced caramel smell. My daughter says it smells like cinnamon and Indian burfi. For me it's very gourmand and sickly sweet, which I wasn't expecting. I'm going to leave this till winter and see if I like it any better in the cold. The perfume is extremely strong and one spray was enough for me. Update: below are the fragrance notes from the Electimuss website. I only sprayed once and I can really smell it.

Hmm. Interesting. I am still getting to know this one. When I first smelled it I immediately had V CANTO come to mind - I want to say Magnificat but it may be another 1 from the house... anyways this does not read as a vanilla. Not even a "dirty vanilla". The fragrance reads as an ambery (even savory) resinous woody fragrance, with mild sweetness buried under everything else* - that also happens to have vanilla as an ingredient in the note breakdown. The vanilla is like 1 of 20 notes listed and it really does smell like it is 1/20th of the fragrance - so if you are thinking this is a dirty vanilla fragrance - I would say that may be misleading. I think of INITIO Absolute Aphrodisiac as a "dirty" vanilla, but not this... with that said though I am still enjoying this! And still intrigued enough to keep trying to turn my "like" into a "love". I have gotten flashes of love but not full-on yet! I just had different expectations and I am trying to manage that now. Leans masculine, but Unisex for those who enjoy unisex.

I like this one, it's good ! It's a vanilla scent with a spicy, almost animalic twist. The cumin and coriander are actually pretty noticeable. This could be a zoologist scent, it shares a lot of similarities with some zoologist fragrances. I don't think this is a safe blind buy at all, it's very niche. This comes out masculine leaning on my skin, though a woman could definitely wear this. After a few hours, it becomes drier, woodier. The vetiver and cedar are noticeable and make it come out even more masculine. This is not very strong. It's very oily and a bit flat. This isn't made to be very noticeable by everyone, but it'll give you a nice scent bubble that will last a very long time. Good job Cécile !

At first spray I was a little worried I made a mistake and would need to wash to get this one off, but then the vanilla came out and it morphed into something really complex and elegant. Immediately it was an incense bomb but not in a heavy oud sense, more like an old lady type incense. I don't get much of the cumin as others have noted, but I can see where they might get a cat pissy smell from that mixed with the patchouli. Doesn't work that way with my skin thankfully! When I smell my clothes I get more of the spice, but on my skin its like sweet amber. I almost get a lovely soapy quality from the vanilla. The strongest notes for me in the dry down are patchouli and vanilla.

This is AH-MAZING. INTOXICATING. One of the BEST vanillas I have EVER smelled. Proper review coming later but I just wanted to say that on first test-WOW. This stuff knocked my socks off!! I’m not sure a vanilla has knocked my socks off this hard since Mona di Orio Vanille which is the first vanilla that really blew me away. If you like spicy, very slightly floral (in the way that vanilla pods can be, almost lily-ish) vanilla pod/bean vanilla, this is for you! Or if you like bourbon vanilla, this is also for you! If you like Mona di Orio Vanille or Hermes Vanille Galant (for the floraly aspect), this is most definitely for you!

This one still has sweet vanilla in it. It's not strictly masculine, I do find this to be unisex though. There is a prominent cumin and coriander in here though that's giving cooking spices, so you would have to be a little more adventurous with your perfumes to enjoy this. I find this to be a very interesting fragrance and I like the smell. But I am just not pulling for these types of vanillas in my collection lately. I put this in the same category as my SERGE LUTENS Un Bois Vanille too. Not that they're that similar, just darker vanillas in my collection. I think I need to declutter.

I actually love the cumin note. It's the first time I'm enjoying cumin, and this may sound silly, but it's because this time it smells like a beautiful woman's sweat. It actually smells just like my sister. It smells exactly like the lining of her fur coat, and it reminds me of sharing a tent with her at a music festival. Overall it's a very nice "dirty vanilla." I don't know if I can wear it since it smells so much like my sister, but I think it is beautiful, unique and alluring.

I’m picking up a bakery next to a smoke shop kind of scent, and surprisingly I love it. Vanilla Edesia is a complex scent with a unique blend of spicy notes; including one of my nemesis, cumin, but it’s tempered by the supporting notes of a comforting Frankincense and a smooth sandalwood note. I like everything about Edesia except for the high price tags, but it can be found in the grey market for a much more reasonable deal.

Spicy smoky cumin with a little vanilla mixed in. There's some florals and patchouli in there too. It's a very interesting, complex, and dry non-gourmand spicy vanilla. I actually love it but I don't think I can wear it unless I'm alone 😂 Edit: I'm alone this morning and wearing it. Love it! The best electimuss to me, but not for the faint of heart.

Very woody spicy vanilla. Not gourmand at all. I don't get sweat from cumin generally. I don't get sweat from this at all either. Complex, only lightly sweet, woody clean spicy vanillic. Leans masculine to me, unless any amount of vanilla smells girly to you. Very nice. 8.5/10

It is dry and austere, which if you know Zarokian from Amouage's Silver Oud you'll be unsurprised by. The dry down is nearly purely high quality Atlas Cedarwood EO to my nose (the smell of pencil shavings) which I dont mind, with faint vanilla in the background.

Definitely some similarities to Vanilla Shot by Olfactive Studio. Really enjoying my sample. Not your average sickly vanilla at all. Would like a bottle but it's expensive and I already have Vanilla Shot.

It is STUNNING! A most addictive combination of warm vanilla, woody notes with some fresh spices giving it a beautiful zingy feeling. Perfectly unisex and incredibly sexy. Love it.

What I liked about this 1) it’s not super sweet. It’s not cloying like so many vanilla based scents are these days. 2) there’s no ambroxan, or if it’s in here it’s pretty minimal because I’m really able to smell the different notes that are present, they’re not drowning in ambroxan and when the amber comes in it doesn’t have that distinctive ambroxan edge. What I didn’t like about this - there’s not enough vanilla for a fragrance with vanilla in the name. The incense however, was beautiful. It’s a stupendous incense, and it comes in at the start, with some spicy notes as well, and all this lasts a good 5-6 hours. It may be just me but I swear this incense has a cannabis edge to it which goes so well with the spices. There’s also some smoke, and there’s vanilla in the background at this point, but as I said it’s wholly eclipsed by the incense and also the other smoky elements too. After a few hours a lively Amber appears, and it’s so refreshing that it doesn’t smell of ambroxan. In the dry down, when the incense finally starts to fade a bit, you get a little more vanilla, and it’s a lovely balsamic vanilla. A deep one. I just wish there was more of it. It’s accompanied by woods but by this time the smokiness has really tamed. The total life of the fragrance on the skin is really good, about 9-10 hours. In the beginning it projects extraordinarily, a cloud will follow you around. After 5-6 hours it becomes soft. This is unisex.

First impression: it's not easy to impress me with vanilla fragrances. The only one to blow my socks off in the last couple years was the bourbon aged vanilla in the extremely hard to find Kilian Amber Oud, and Vanille from Mon Di Orio. So I wasn't expecting much here, but this one surprised me bit. The frankincense, coumin, wood, patchouli, vetiver, and other ingredients combine to make this very deep and almost mediative. Gaiac isn't listed, but they might be using a bit here in tandem with the frankincense. The smoke is well placed and does not overcome the other notes.The sandalwood keeps things smooth and pleasing. This one doesn't smell offensive as some with cumin can, it's skillfully applied here by Zerokian. I'm not sure I need a full bottle, but this one is an interesting take on a vanilla fragrance. Worth sampling imo.

Now, this fragrance is an epitomy of what acquired taste is. When I first sprayed my blind-bought bottle, my initial reaction was 'Oh dear, what was I thinking! What am I gonna do with this absurdly heavy bottle?' The opening seemed very green, almost vegetal, which I didn't like at all. Then cumin came to play, which made me understand what people mean by sweaty armpit scent. But then this beautiful, non- gourmand vanilla made its presence and was there to stay. The scent intrigued me, I kept playing with it and now I really enjoy the rough ride it gives me. However, this is a scent that I pull off mainly at home as I am pretty sure that the less trained noses can associate cumin with sweat and I certainly don't want people asking me if I've been working out.

This is a fragrance that evolves a lot. The opening is very green, to the point of being vegetal, then there came the cumin that made me understand what people mean by sweaty underarms scent. At that point I started regretting my expensive blind buy. Luckily, this went away and the unique, non-gourmand vanilla presented itself. This scent doesn't make my eyes roll to the back of my head by any means, but it has a strangely addictive quality. The more I use it, the more I like it. I'm no longer struck by its opening and can discover its other facets. What worries me though is what people around me, who have no time to get used to this fragrance, think about it.

The opening is wild and unique, a fuzzy, fizzle-y pepper!, with some vanilla incense. The drydown is lovely! On my skin, I get a soft sweet incense with spices, coriander and soft cumin and a touch of pepper, touch of dry wood. It's a cozy scent to me. I don't get vanilla overtly but I'm sure it's adding to the soft and slightly sweet base. After looking at the listed notes I can also get the frankincense and vetiver. Leans masculine initially but I'm female and really like it. Well blended, balanced. Quality. -The vanilla develops more as it dries down. Lovely.

Rich dark vanilla with lots of edgy spices (I personally feel lots of cinnamon, black pepper and nutmeg) and a very dominant oud wood base that takes over entire fragrance. The projection is crazy as well as longevity. It’s not sweet at all! Vanilla here is closer to the real vanilla pod scent. It also has a bit of animalic nuances thanks to cumin note. Imperium has been compared as mixing Aventus and Ani. This has a hint of Ani as some reference Ani X. I prefer this. Great performance. I haven't tried Aoud Vanille but I have tried Black Moonlight. I would take Black Moonlight over this. But in an ideal world, I get both. 🤣 smooth and addictive.

At first it’s strange – almost herbal and spicy and the cumin note is very prominent, but give it time... The dry down turns into a stunning, velvety vanilla – warm, elegant, and addictive. Perfect for the upcoming winter season.

Nice spicy vanilla. Not linear at all. Evolves from a green soft juicy barely sweet spiciness /to me there are some green fruits as well/ to a cumin heavy sweet vanilla. Nice, not unique though. P.S. Very potent!

Lots and lots of pepper pepper pepper. Its good, i would not buy a FB. I like celestial better, i get the pepper fix and not all the cumin

I recently reignited an interest in locating a unique, well-blended, vanilla-forward fragrance. I am not necessarily searching for an uber-gourmand vanilla fragrance. But I do hope for something warm, enveloping, inviting, comforting. Among a few other vanilla-forward fragrances, Sebastian "The Perfume Guy" reviewed Vanilla Edesia and raved about the fragrance. I love Sebastian and I usually find his reviews spot-on. Sebastian and I seem to share loves and likes for very similar perfumes. So, I decided to give this EdP a try. Upon application, I am immediately struck by a strong, intense, peppery opening. Right from the gate, this perfume comes on with strong peppery notes and some citrus. The citrus is faint in comparison to the extremely strong, pink pepper notes. Shortly, I sense some powdery heliotrope, a bit of cumin, some florals. But vanilla? And patchouli? And even sandalwood? Nope, nope and nope. And I suppose it's the vetiver that pulled very herbal, green and masculine on my skin, to my nose. Sebastian warned that this perfume has a lot going on with it and is by no means a super-vanilla strong fragrance. And I do struggle to locate anything vanilla about this fragrance. I'm a bit shocked Sebastian would review this as a "vanilla-centric" fragrance. For me, this EdP is way too spicy and "green" to even warrant the classification of Vanilla Oriental, which is its description on this website. Definitely NOT a safe blind-buy. And definitely NOT vanilla forward, IMHO. Disappointing to say the least.

I bought Vanilla Edesia, because I had seen a few reviewers say it is a masterpiece. I wanted to love it and had high expectations. The first time I sprayed it, my nose got zero vanilla. All I could smell was green, herbal, smokiness, somewhat masculine leading. I let it sit for a while and forgot about it, but when I went back to it...this time I could smell the vanilla, and totally understood why people are calling it unique. It is still very green/earthy, but I can make it work for me even better but adding a little extra layer of vanilla for some sweetness. Do I love it? No. Am I happy I have it in my collection? Yes.

Opens spicy and aromatic but it settles into a slightly powdery vanilla on a base of amber and woods It's accompanied by some spices like cinnamon and some incense It really isn't vey unique or special, but it's okay and quite pleasant to smell

I don't get any vanilla in this womp womp...Just pickly sour sandlewood :( My sample is going right in the trash

Smells like strippers and sex workers.

This is what I wish Nishane's Ani smelled like. The vanilla is strong in this which is what I enjoy. The vanilla is supported beautifully by that fresh, woods and earthiness, whereas with Nishane, the vanilla was supporting the patchouli and earthy notes, which made it smell on me very sticky, unpleasant, too resinous and not cleanly. This scent came in a sample that I didn't order from Electimuss - when I got those tester strips I saw samples, and I was shocked at how much I couldn't stop smelling the scent on the strip. This has been the case with their other scent Persephone's Patchouli, both of which are the best from this house. This scent reminds me of Fall, it's not a spicy scent - it doesn't remind me of grand soir's amber vanilla because with grand soir it takes the fragrance to a hot vanilla amber, whereas this fragrance takes a left turn towards the tepid temperature. Who knew I like the more tamed vanilla amber scent. This scent evokes a mental image of a person wearing a vanilla perfume outdoors, the outdoor air fills the nostrils in a sensory experience such as when it's cloudy, drizzling and the smell of fresh earthiness fills every pore in your nostril. How I describe how this touches my nose is like when you smell wet concrete, it's an undeniable experience, much like this - not being wet concrete, but of filling the nose with an incredible scent. The vanilla is the dominant, as it should, and the accompanying notes make it so special, it's like cradling the vanilla and letting the vanilla shine while still keeping into perspective the beauty of the earth surrounding it. But the earth is not trying to overtake it, or over shine the presence of the vanilla, it simply doesn't, it just cradles it ever so slightly. Going back to my reference to Ani, I want to get rid of Ani or maybe mix the fragrances so I can actually use Ani and not feel guilty I bought it off of hype a while back and didn't like it. When fully dried down it smells like a more potent Angelique Noir by Guerlain, not the same but has that fresh vanilla combination that I love so much. So I got this fragrance from a small sample and sprayed 5-8 times which lasted throughout the entire day. It projected for the first 2-3 hours at foot's length, and I could still smell it wafting up at me for at least 8 hours, it projects at least 6 inches after it's full glory of initial spray from the 3-8 hours without stopping which I absolutely love. It's a moderately high projecting fragrance that won't disappoint in longevity or sillage, while it's not a fragrance that will travel as far as the end of the room, it will be noticed by you and others, it will be a scent in the room, and it's just perfect for anything and everything during the fall. I am so surprised at how much I love this scent. I know it's scary to buy a fragrance with little reviews, but this is going to be one of those fragrances that gets to the nose of a few and is discreet until more and more the niche community focuses on this and then it'll grow into a fragrance with hundreds of reviews. Dare I say, this may be the top 3 best fragrance from this house. Get a sample and you will NOT regret!

This I like But don’t seem to get what most others are getting. To me along with the vanilla & cumin I also get the florals & a little “ash” in the initial spray heading in the the mid when my nose is buried into the sprayed area, even though I see ash isn’t listed this made me think of a good cross between Myths Man & Comme Des Garçons Copper which I own. And with the exception of Amber, I’ve never been able to explain that fragrance. But this is acting in the drydown or doing alot of how Copper does, And it could be because I have Myths Man on the brain & wanting to get it, making that association with this, But A smokey amber more than a vanilla is what I end up with in the far dry down of this while working out in the cold...Nice! But nothing necessary new.

Let it mature on your skin. I actually chose this scent at perfumology on Philly based off the fact it wasn't a traditional vanilla, which I find to be cloying and reminds me of 90s older woman vibes. This is almost animalic in the opening which I love and makes it niche. But it turns into a crowd pleaser if you just give it about 30 35 minutes. Vanilla strangly enough is not the main player here. If I had to choose I would say earthy vetiver and cumin mix to glory. Anyways I like it and it was different enough to be full bottle worthy to me. Great lasting power as well!

The name is misleading. Don't expect a clear vanilla note from this scent. I get a slightly sweet, woody and herbaceous scent with a very aromatic core of vetiver, patchouli, sandalwood and cedar. Around that core you get spices, mostly pepper and cinnamon. You get a good dose of frankincense. I don't get the floral notes...I can't smell the floral notes here. The annoying part is that I can't smell any vanilla here. Where is the Vanilla? I would say this is a nice scent but not a Vanilla scent. A sample is enough for me.

Overwhelmingly cumin ! Yes, there is other stuff happening in the background - smoke, other spices, pepper, woods, bergamot - but there is SO MUCH CUMIN. The vanilla is very faint, and completely in the background, like an after-thought. The spices (more coriander ? still cumin !) remain in the dry-down. This is a heavy, heady oriental fragrance, masculine-leaning, very high-quality and particularly powerful but the "vanilla" in the name is utterly misleading. This is a cumin perfume.

Yes it has vanilla undoubtedly which makes it sweet and vanilla like but it also has all other spices and smells from your cupboard competing with it. The 'sweaty cumin' others mention might be a close association, but you can definitely make out other spices as well. If you associate vanilla with the sweet and innocent pretty smelling perfumes from your past, this is not it. Do not blind buy. A rather challenging creation.

Another fragrance from Electimuss London that feels difficult to grasp - overflowing with spices. Beneath it all lies a beautiful, almost velvety thread of vanilla, warm and inviting. And yet it is unsettled by cumin, which lends a distinctly human, almost sweaty nuance that tips the balance. Intriguing, certainly, but for me it crosses a line where fascination turns into discomfort.

I wanted to love it so badly, and glad I was patiently waiting to get the sample of it first. I love Electimuss, the bottle, the perfumer and Vanilla.. still trying to figure out what ruins this fragrance to me.. probably cumin and yalng ylang.. not just sweaty note.. it reminds me the..cat pee sorry for that comparison, with all my respect to the brand and perfumers work.

Vanilla is non existant to me. All I get is over powering cumin/spice and smokyness. Definitely not blind buy worthy. This was recommended to me as a long lasting vanilla heavy scent, but that's definitely not what I'm getting. I'll stick with Novae Vanilla Atelier des Ors instead.

Oh I don't like this at all. I'm pretty proud that i didn't blind buy an entire bottle of this. All i get is pencil shaving/armpit in the opening and then it dries down into a powdery armpit. I may not be fancy enough for this yet.

Very beautiful complex grown up vanilla. I get hints of an almost ashy, incense notes. Edesia is definitely unisex and can be worn on either sex. Nothing gourmand about this vanilla.
