Elixir

This is an absolute love ❤️ I have been reaching for it so often that my initial 30ml bottle has only a little left! The fresh citrus Mandarin and Neroli opening mellows quite quickly, giving way to the resinous Amber Iris combination, which make this unique in the Elie Saab collection. The 'Love Accord' I believe is a combination of Lebanese Almond and Orris concentrate, together with a soft powdery musk. The citrus stays lightly in the backgound while Benzoin gives just a touch of sweetness, the Myrrh adds a whisper of smokiness but the Iris and Amberwood are the real stars here. All together they create an sophisticated, warm, powdery, love potion. The embellished, spherical bottle with it's golden cap, is luxuriously weighty and beautiful. Longevity is good, projection is arms length, creating an enticing scent bubble around the wearer. This attracts compliments, mostly from men. My hubby loves it 🥰 Absolutely signature worthy.

I'm a bit of a perfume snob. My preference is generally Niche perfumes. But I also always follow the mainstream scents with interest. For example, Hermes has released a beautiful and quirky perfume this year. And the Gucci Bloom Intense has also made it into my collection with great love. I have never owned an Elie Saab fragrance before. Generally nice and sweet scents that I quickly forgot about. Still, I was very curious about this fragrance. It surprised me enormously. It is a full perfume in which the neroli plays the leading role. But a medicinal note turns the neroli into a spicy dupe of Mugler's Aura. Myrrh makes the scent somewhat mysterious. The scent does not have much development. Gently the perfume gets a bit deeper. The perfume has a considerable sillage and longevity.

I dont usually reach for ellie saab but I was surprised when I sampled elixir in store. I bought a full bottle right away! this perfume isn't for everyone. Strong sweet amber and lipsticky vibe- but thats why i love it. Has a vintage 90s/00s smell to it. Reminds me of when I was a kid when I would catch a smell of my aunties red lipstick, shes wearing a floral perfume and cheetah print, im sitting in the leather seated car biting the plastic wrapper off a candy i found in her purse. that memory is why I feel like a 90s woman wearing this. long lasting, not an in-your-face projection, but is noticeable in a cozy way.

Sniffing and sniffing this odd perfume today, not sure what to think about it, at first it smells as a kinda wallpaint, and then it reminds me of my most beloved Versace Blonde, but, than it drys down to summething else, is it vanilla icecream? This peculiar perfume, is it a cat or is it a dog? By the way, dog lovers like to spell the word "dog" backwords: God! Whatever, the bottle is nais, l think it looks like my big mama-bottle Dolce Vita, but they smells very different, and, lucky me got this perfume for a steel, a full 3.4fl.oz, this perfume thoug, is not for everybody, but it is just so very purrrfect for me!

I love this fragrance it’s giving Gucci Eau de Parfum vibes which was my signature perfume before it was discontinued sadly. This doesn’t have the leather note that Gucci had but is definitely in the sophisticated oriental vibe area, as close as I’m ever going to get to my beloved Gucci, I have the 30 ml bottle but would definitely purchase the larger size. I wear this whilst wearing a buttery soft leather jacket and I’m back in my Gucci era!

Sexy, soft, sweet, and feminine amber... This is something I would wear for my wedding night. It’s just so beautiful, not underpowering but not overpowering either. Elixir is my safe place and gets complimented each time I wear. A lot of people complain about the longevity but stays quite well on me without reapplying for hours - even though I smoke a lot. One of my all time favorites, highly recommended🧡

Just got a pen spray of this and it is absolutely beautiful. I didn't want to commit to a full size because of the low rating reviews and I could not test this anywhere. I am so surprised that this doesn't get a higher score because it is divine. Definitely an evening or special occasion wear as the reviewer below me mentions. When I finish up this 10ml I will be getting a bigger bottle for sure!

Neroli done right in my opinion. This is very soft, when neroli dominant perfumes often have a bit of a sharp note in them. I think it 's the iris that softens the edges here. Very elegant, expensive smelling. I could buy this after I finish my Mon Guerlain.

Absolutely sexy and heavy. I can smell the iris and myrrh, but for some reason it smells like rum to me. I find it a bit mature, only for women in their 30s and 40s or older. My husband loves it.

Neroli and Iris heaven!!!!! I wish it was just a tad stronger but its beautiful. I love it!

Could use this as a bedtime, relax fragrance

I finally got my nose on this one! It definitely has retro late 80's/early 90's vibes but more subtle. The packaging and ad campaign matches the juice. The opening has a hint of freshness to it with a touch a wood but the neroli is majorly downplayed in Elixir, unlike other Elie Saabs, which is welcomed. Once it settles the iris, benzoin, myrrh, and amberwood really shines through. It's a very classy and comforting but more mature than the scents of today, in a good way. The dry down very much reminds me of Elie Saab Lumiere! Less yellow and more gold but they are similar, even though their vibe is different. It has great silage and projection without being cloying or stuffy. I feel it's signature worthy even though it's not for me. I would love to smell this on some else.

Elixir reminds me immediately of Chloe Nomade. The blend barely resembles its parts, which some say is better than sensing all the notes. It is fruity-ambery-balmy. Medium intensity, rather on the light side, but enveloping. One must wear the scent to appreciate it, for it is not really all that detectable on the wrist. Maybe 16°C is not a perfect time to wear it, but I think it suits the blend. I had high hopes for the new Elie Saab pillar, but the scent is a bit of a let down. After a couple of hours it gets more plus points for a classy, cosy aura. At this stage it reminds me of Boss the Scent Elixir. At least one wont choke in a car wearing it :) I feel it gently next morning. Subtle but present.

I really like this fragrance but I don’t think it fits me as I am particularly to a certain fragrance profile. The neroli was a little too strong for me but don’t get me wrong, I am still wearing and enjoying this in cold temperatures when I need a pick me up, although she will not be a keeper. I would have loved this profile for a girl of now flanker with orange blossom instead of neroli and or toned down with an almond note. This is a beautiful myrrh fragrance if you are not sensitive to neroli or particular with neroli. If you like emperor Armani because it’s you then you might like this. I don’t think this is suited for my chemistry as I prefer softer fragrances.

I see some similarities to the newest La vie east belle flanker and even a hint of the new my way flanker, that said this is beautiful. It’s deep and very rich and a heady and balmy floral. I don’t think it’s tropical balmy but my goodness is this nice. Long lasting and quite a good projection around you. I think for a spring and summer outing or date night this will be a perfect reach to feel refined and different from all the other date night scents out there. That dry down is sexy ad there is something in the mid that makes me swoon a bit. Sexy, come hither vibes for a date night.

I found this fragrance very sexy and sophisticated and quite versatile! The dry down was lovely. It is very similar to My Way Le Parfum which I personally disliked; both have the iris and neroli but I prefer how Elixir dries down, My Way went very masculine on me as it dried down but Elixir dries down super feminine and sultry. I also found this similar with the amber note to Paco Rabanne Olympia, only Elixir smells more mature. As far as 2023 new releases that I’ve tried (albeit, not that many) this is probably my favourite!

I FOUND MY PEOPLE!! @rendiii So glad that I am not the only one who detects a warm carrot note in this. Wonder what kind of note combination creates this smell cause I get the same carrot scent from La Vie Est Belle and its flankers, and no one seems to be talking about it.

Not juvenile. I got this a month or so ago and I didn’t anticipate it to have a vintage feel but I decided to spray it today and you know what, this is a classy fragrance that I’d probably wear in the evening and was wearing something posh etc Nice

I could have sworn that this perfume has chocolate in it, because that's how it smells on my skin. Was surprised to see iris and orange in the notes, I never even smelled a hint of it when spraying. I like it tho, smells nice.

Very strong, amber and iris notes are predominant. Might feel a bit cloying after a while, overall it is a good fragrance and lasts long.

It smells like Middle Eastern scent’s , mandarin orange is very strong here, I can still smell it even after 8 hours of wearing it

As soon as I sprayed Elie Saab’s Elixir I was instantly reminded of the newest La Vie est Belle, the L’Extrait, but even more lipsticky iris, cooler and less sweet. I am not a fan of this. Or most of the iris centric perfumes being totally honest.... Iris is not my flower. I need to accept that and stop trying to learn to love notes I don’t like or broaden my taste with notes that are just not my thing after several failed attempts. Besides 90% iris, maybe get some bitter neroli, but unbalanced by anything sweet like the mandarin orange or amberwood that supposed to be present in the mix. Usually those two notes make a fragrance feel sweet and warm for me. Not the case here.. I do detect some resinous, ambery, earthy facets in the dry down, but for me this remains a cold, powdery, slightly bitter, uninvinting, type of scent. Unlike most of the fragrances on the market nowadays, Elixir performs great, with a 3-4 hour projection. It’s very long lasting on clothing though, I can smell it on my shirt the next morning. Applied on skin, it’s more of an intimate, subdued lipsticky, bitter, unappealing kind of experience for me. Gets better and warmer in the deep dry down. I have a 10 ml travel size of this and I am not sure if I want to try it again. I might end up passing it on to a girl friend or one of my relatives... Shouldn’t have bothered with it! Bottle looks stunning!

I regret buying a full size of this bottle because the longevity of this fragrance is not that good. It last for over two hours on me and this is a pricey fragrance with such less lasting power. I expected it to be a little bit more longer lasting since it has those Middle Eastern touches, it has Amber and vanilla, but sadly, that is not the case And I will skip buying from this fragrance house because I do feel this is on the designer side with poor performance.

Could be a nice date night scent. Warm and sweet. I guess because of Amber and Benzoin it smells remotely similar to me to MFK Grand Soir and Muse by Xerjoff. For some reason those notes in general tend to take over the rest for me. I think my nose is not yet refined enough and still recovering from covid (very likely!). It's ok, I don't dislike it, but I wouldn't buy it.

Lovely bottle. The scent is light, inoffensive and sweet. Definitely not what I expected from the notes, which look kind of challenging. This is pleasant and inoffensive. Nice, but it's not for me.

It's ambery and it would be pleasant if it wasn't one-dimensional and synthetic. It's in the meh-category for me. There are better options for the same value.

Generic and uninspiring. It’s ok if you like bland white floral openings and dull linear dry-downs. I don’t mind it. I don’t love it. It’s emotional beige.

I'm not sure why iris is listed, this is a sweet candy like perfume. It reminds me of some other perfume but can't remember wich one.

I would expect this is if I picked up a random perfume at Poundland. I can't see anyone loving this perfume. The top notes fade within 5 minutes and you're left with the boiled carrot smell of iris and the oriental base. After some time, all you're left with is the faint, unamusing smell of resin

I usually enjoy Elie Saab, but this is not to my taste. It brings to mind an artificial grape flavouring - much like what can be found in the original Poison or L'Interdit, except this offers no interesting counterbalance. It's a no from me. Darling bottle though.

Another La vie est belle type of fragrance, slightly old-fashioned but definitely nothing new. How many LVEB can the market hold??

This smells terribly outdated. I had to double-check that this is really a release from 2023 and not 2003. It’s also quite poorly formulated, as this is really screeching and piercing my olfactory receptors. Though if you like Versace Dylan perfumes, I’m sure you will appreciate this perfume as well. stays for solid 4 hour on my skin. Though unwearable for me.

I have tested Elixir by Elie Saab on two separate occasions. The first wearing was not a positive one, as I found the scent to be overbearingly sweet, like a clone of BR540. I decided to give Elixir a second wearing today, and was pleasantly surprised to find it less sweet than I remembered, and more wearable on my skin. Elie Saab is one of my favourite designer perfume houses, and I adore their opulent, feminine and well-crafted compositions. Elixir was not the powdery and earthy iris fragrance I anticipated, but was instead quite heavy on the amberwood and benzoin. The amberwood note is also heavily featured in BR540, hence why I compared the two fragrances on my first wearing. Elixir opens with a bright, almost effervescent blend of neroli and candied mandarin orange, and this citrusy and floral aroma shares some DNA with the very popular Le Parfum range. The heart and the drydown is much richer with a somewhat dense and sensual blend of amberwood, myrrh, iris and benzoin. In its final stages, Elixir is a heavy fragrance with big projection and good longevity. Elie Saab's Elixir is a compelling fragrance for those who appreciate warm, ambery scents with a touch of floral elegance. It exudes a sense of warmth, sensuality, and quiet luxury. Despite finding the amberwood and its resulting sweetness too pronounced for my personal tastes, I am pleased to have given this fragrance a second chance. I would recommend sampling this fragrance before blind purchasing, as the scent description can be rather misleading, leading one to believe it is a smooth, powdery iris when it is much more complex and resinous.

Sweet DESIGNER LAUNDRY & Clean (White)-Floral. Just got a tester of this. Smells like a lot of other designer scents. Very clean, powdery, sweet & pleasant detergent opening that could be orange-blossom or neroli. That sweet-clean scent continues into the heart which has sweet, powdery iris and something creamy/bubblegum that smells like tuberose all resting on a sweet resinous base. The notes listed aren't wrong, I would just add orange-blossom to the top notes, and tuberose to the heart. You've smelt this before, but it's nicely done here and projects more beautifully than similar scents. If you already have one of these: Shock-in-Scent Police, Voce Viva Valentino or Voce Viva Intensa Valentino, you may not find this different enough as it's a very similar type of scent. It's a little bit similar to L'Interdit Givenchy, but L'Interdit is more effervescent and with a more forward bubblegum quality. Roberto Cavalli is similar, but has less of the clean vibe. For those not familiar with Shock-in-Scent Police or Voce Viva Valentino, the best way I could describe it is roughly half-way in between L'Interdit Givenchy and La Vie Est Belle Lancome. The projection is really nice and it has good longevity. I'm curious as to how a full bottle would develop given the heavy base notes, but overall it's well done. Enjoy!

Elie Saab Elixir, opens up really strong but is a big no for me, so far. Which is quite unusual for me, as I love a lot of fragrances from this house, so I had pretty high hopes it. My first thoughts are that its like a flanker or relative of CH Good Girl, as its very similar including the smoky element of it, which totally dominates everything else in my honest opinion. Its quite synthetic too, which is a shame. And what they say is Myrrh, Benzoin and Amberwood, all smells like one note to me, which again is a big no, as I can pick out the difference in most of those resins, but not in this case. As for the iris, you literally forget iris is even listed, as there really isn't any. But, It does have a sweetness to it, but it isn't from the mandarin or neroli, or at least note what my nose identifies as mandarin or neroli. I'll test it again another day, just to see if I feel any differently, but so far..I'm glad that I didn't blind buy a whole bottle of this. Edit** 30 mins since I first sprayed this, this has hit the drydown and its much softer..Its not so dense or cloying and I can detect someone floral trying to peak through, but under the smokiness, it kind of loses the battle..

When I hear Elie Saab I think white flowers, orange blossom and gardenia in particular. This new Elixir parts with that image as it's all about a waxy, lipstick-like iris being in the centre of the scent, brightened by fresh and soft citrusy accord with a generous dose of creamy neroli in the opening and wrapped in a sweet, balsamic warmth of benzoin and myrrh in the base. I can see this fragrance being not quite as popular as previous Elie Saab releases, it's more serious, mature if you like, quite official but not aloof, it still retains a sweet, warm and approachable character (however not in an edible, gourmand way). Altogether it's quite an interesting mainstream release for those who like iris and don't mind its more formal, decadent facet. The performance so far appears to be moderate, it doesn't project massively but it seems to stick to the skin quite nicely.

If you're looking for a scent that's overwhelmingly sweet, imagine artificial honey drenched in sugar, layered with syrupy nectar, and a touch of everything sweet you can think of. It’s almost like walking through a candy shop with no escape. The fragrance is so cloying, it felt like I was drowning in sweetness—heavy, sticky, and suffocating. If you love ultra-sweet perfumes that linger intensely, this might be for you. But for me, it was just too much

Not a proper review, as I’ve just received this, but when I sprayed it on my wrist I got a distinct La Vie Est Belle vibe, not the original but more like one of the limited editions, Oui maybe. So after visiting this page and looking at the notes again it Hass to be the love accord, I feel like that’s what Lancome have built their fragrance upon. Also could be the iris. Looking forward to giving this one a chance as it was a complete blind buy.

I already reviewed this beauty, but having seen a member mention it as a possible bedtime fragrance, I wanted to hop back on and say I’ve found it to be perfect for that. I haven’t tried the lotion yet, but House of Fraser gifted me a shower gel with purchase and that is lovely and the fragrance sits beautifully under the perfume. I would definitely recommend picking up a set when the are released for the holidays if you like this perfume.

This reminds me very much of La Vie est Belle Intense. That powdery iris and whipped cream note I recognise. Except this is not as sugary as LVEB and this has a definite dry/bitter touch which I really enjoy. This scent is quite thick, enveloping and comforting to me. But feels very feminine and sassy at the same time. This lasted on my skin for 2 days and becomes more of a patchouli/syrupy/rose the longer it lingers.

It's a warm, classy and classic powdery-ambery perfume, with the signature Elie Saab orange blossom. Smells really good, and not overly resinous to irritate, but still this may not be quite enough to have a crush over. The performance is below average, and it lacks a touch of uniqueness to impose itself, dazzle, or take someone's breath away. In short, it's very good, well-blended, but thought from inside the box.

There's a disturbing note in this - and now I smell it everywhere. Rather annoying, too warm and rich for hot weather and gives a sense of deja vu. Can't put my finger on it. Not for me, reads a bit dated. Definitely test before you buy, this isn't a safe blind buy. Among this house numbers, if you look for a stunning perfume try Le Parfum Intense instead.

love love this- had a sample & am definitely interested in a full size bottle. reminds me of la vie est belle but less 'girly' and a touch deeper/more mature. i mainly get the iris + benzoin, it's a very sweet rich scent. the citrus does come through but it's not bright and zingy, more like a slight bitterness from the rind. so lovely!

Extremely nostalgic, it reminds me of an old lipstick you would find in your nanny's house and try on as as child (in a nice way!). Its quite rich when sprayed on, but then it settles into a powdery, balsamic beauty on your skin. Quite sweet. Definitely can be perceived as old-fashioned / vintage.

I see why there are comparisons to the new LVEB flanker (Iris Absolu), but I would argue that Elixir smells better. On clothes the scent is extremely sweet (not too much for me, but about as sweet as I can go) but on skin it has a sort of smoky sweetness that I really enjoy.

ELIE SAAB- ELIXIR- it's a new perfume but still smells so old-fashioned and generic, that can't really be distinguished from others. Reminds you of too many other smells and it's not even that great. Something a middle-aged woman would wear. Not my cup of tea. 5/10
