Essence No. 7 Neroli

A very unisex white floral that I acquired in a swap. I am really impressed with this Essence line and there are several others I'd like to get my hands on, especially No. 1 Rose and No. 10 Amande Tonka. I'm quite sure I'm forgetting others. Here's the thing about many of Elie Saab's perfumes. The nose is none other than Francis Kurkdijan himself. He has been the nose behind a few other brands, though the names escape me. I am certain I will be accused of blasphemy, and I certainly haven't tried everything from his own line, but based on what I have tried, I absolutely prefer his Saab creations. Maybe it's just a matter of not looking for novelty, or just tired of being beat over the head with ouds and gourmands, but for example, I really don't care for his most famous fragrance, Rouge 540, in the least. I do not consider myself to be an unsophisticated perfumista by any means, and I'm guessing I'm in the minority here, but I will take this Neroli and others from the line over Oud Satin Mood hands down any time.

Ooooooooh this was a delicious surprise... especially for a blind buy. I was immediately happy at first spritz. Light, bright, sunny. 10 minutes in: True, clean, deep, warm and humid... charming green floral with a very very slight eastern/attar/oriental vibe. Fairly linear, but does not have the generic citrus lift that so many neroli fragrances have. It is interesting, inviting, and weirdly sexy. 1 hour in: light and soapy with a musk edge. Gentle, airy but maintains its humid fresh floral quality. 3 hours in: clean skin scent. Neroli is still there, sending a sparkle out there to be noticed. This is a classier version of Ferrari Bright Neroli... similar from beginning to end, with the exception of Ferrari's Neroli having the vetiver (which I don't usually like but make an exception for)... I would say Essence No. 7 is true to the flower, and longer lasting. You can't go wrong with this one, and you can't overdo it either. Great stuff.

Funnily I haven't reviewed this frgrance before. It's probably my favourite of this Elie Saab exclusive line, together with Tuberose. This is a refined, rounded and very elegant version of an orange blossom scent. Not fresh, not mingling with citruses, it evokes the white flower as it smells on the branch of the tree. The drydown is to die for... the orange blossom merges into a creamy cedar and lasts for hours. Very apt for any occasion, it could easily be a wedding scent or an important springtime event. A bit on the expensive side and now very very hard to find, to me an essential one for neroli lovers.

Gorgeous realistic neroli opening that transitions into a (slightly woody) musk that clings to a whiff of the opening all the way down. Thankfully it stays far away from soapy territory for me (which is the downfall of many neroli blends I have tested). Lovely every step of the way. Strong for about an hour, and after that long lasting as a more personal scent. A favorite in warm weather.

I absolutely love this fragrance!! It is a very creamy neroli, beautifully blended. I would definitely layer this with my fragrances and I would wear this on its own as well!! I layered it with the no 9 Tuberose and it is an amazing combo!! Try it out

The pyramid is incomplete, this fragrance is blended with: orange blossoms, neroli, cloves, musk and white cedar. What I get on my skin is a blast of neroli (...really?), and a strong musky drydown. If I didn't know about it, I wouldn;t have guessed the presence of cloves, and I can't detect any cedar at all. It is a beautiful take on neroli, but a little too well behaved in my opinion. The clove note is too shy here to give a noticeable twist (unlike the cinnamon in Oud n.4, the papyrus and cloves in Vetiver n.6 or the genius osmanthus note in Santal n.8). Also, it does not sufficiently counter-balance the strong florals and the soapy musk, and thus fails to keep this fragrance perfectly unisex (to my nose it leans on the feminine side). I would have bet that there is a also a jasmine note in this one. Overall, a very clean and perfectly tailored neroli fragrance, but which misses the "wow" factor of others of the same line that I listed before. My preference will go to Mugler Cologne (more unisex and bright) and Dunhill Icon (lower quality but more of a composition around neroli than a neroli-centered fragrance, resulting more masculine). Still, a great fragrance fitting the bill for a high quality neroli soliflore, that I would tend to recommend preferably to women. I will pass on that one, but I'm sure some men may put this one off comfortably. Warm (but not excessively hot) days, 25+

I have just ordered this on Fragrancenet, it was listed on sale at around US$80, so might be worth having a look if the price has been the deterrent. I will update with a proper review when I receive it. EDP 3.3ozs Received it today, it’s in very swanky packaging, black box with black tissue paper sealed with the Elie Saab logo sticker, I was reluctant to open it! Spritzed it on, definitely a powerhouse Neroli hit, not linear, evolving, twisting and turning, have had it on for about 5 hours and that dark weepy orange blossom orchard heaviness just keeps on going. I am updating again to point out that this is easily unisex. Would I pay $300 or $500 which others are saying was the original launch price? Probably not, but at $80 it’s a steal for the quality. Another update...have given it some extra time but I must resign myself to the fact that it’s very masculine, so my husband is the lucky recipient and he’s happy with it.

Honestly, it reminds me of Une Amourette Roland Mouret Etat Libre d'Orange... probably due to the prominent neroli in both and that's where the similarity ends. UARM is long lasting and deeply woody and mysterious. Neroli #7 is simple and elegant, like all of the other scents in this line. I can't stop smelling my hand. The orange blossoms on top smell like they're drizzled with honey. This fades to give way to our hero neroli supported by cedar and a lovely clean, powdery musk that reminds of Narciso (white bottle). It's VERY MUSKY! Solid LIKE. Beware this line is for people who enjoy modest scents. Sillage and longevity are both low to moderate. -

Elie Saab Neroli (2015) - Warmth of Summer - #franciskurkdjian presents us a perfume made with high quality Neroli from the sadly discontinued Elie Saab Essence range. Here the perfumer shows his prowess as he difficultly balances the creamy citrus quality of Neroli and Orange Blossom with Cedar & Spicy Clove accord. Trust me that’s hard - as you can always make the ethereal quality of Neroli disappear with these strong notes. The result? Neroli with an interesting warmth and staying power. Superb.

This is a beautiful neroli by someone who really knows his way around neroli and musk. It opens fresh then settles quickly into a musky neroli that strongly reminds me somehow of Jicky in the drydown. In the well crafted roundedness of this composition, there is a buoyancy, so this never sits flatly on your skin doing nothing. The citrus makes the musk move. Really, really like it a lot (get absolutely no clove btw). Thank you cocofluff for the generous haul of samples!

MFK created another hit, if you like Neroli you will like this frag. If you love Neroli you will love this frag. It is blended to memorize, and Luxurious enough to be a staple in even MFKs Line. It is clean and contains a high level of natural ingredients, it is fresh and perfect in the heat. Nothing too complicated unless you layer it with Amber or Oud. Only weakness is projection and longevity. But, at this price and quality; more than worth it.

Good stuff with high projection of neroli the first hour. After that, on my skin, it becomes a musky neroli and close to skin. So it kindoff develops to something soft but pleasant. Love it during summer days. Don’t expect this to be like any designer perfume, it really is an essence..

I really like it, very simple neroli dry down to a musky scent. The opening is very green, i can sense some petit grain, however thi is barely detected in the sillage. As if i stood under an orange tree in full bloom.

They should have called this Essence Orange Blossom since that is the main floral to my nose. Very little neroli to be found here and only in the beginning of the fragrance. Then the scent becomes primarily orange blossom that smells a lot like that in Houbigant's Orangers en Fleurs. It's a spicy orange blossom, that's a little on the heavy side, though not indolic. While I like this scent, I was a little disappointed that it didn't live up to what I was expecting. I think I'll stick to Clean Reserve Neroli, since that is the purest neroli fragrance I've tried to date, and A Scent Soleil de Neroli by Issey Miyake, when I feel in the mood for a lighter mixed floral neroli scent. Still, this is nice, and if you like orange blossom heavy perfumes you may like this too. Since I'm not really a fan of that note, especially in such high concentration, I'll take a pass on a fb after this travel sprayer is done.

A supernice Neroli & Orangeblossom scent with a green, fresh aura - maybe the cedar/musk. I find this one to be gentle and smooth - not in your face heavy, but there for many hours. I really like parfums that is a bit ghostlike and lingers around you - comes and goes, so to say. Superfemale'ish, classy and elegant.

Extremely musky, soapy lots of neroli. not my cuppa. hit me up if you are looking for this.

First the initial sprays are soft, brown, and i got a faint smokey rubber tire essence. This softens even further to a skin scent but i was surprised that it lasted 3-4 hours on me. I think with the musk being a big player in these essences they do not register much to my nose. And like the #9 Tuberose, I will have to heavily over spray it to enjoy it. And probably knock some people out in the process...

I tried this perfume long time ago and I loved it. But i bought now, I am not sure if the formula changed or what, but it is definitely not neroli. The smell of the cloves is dominant giving strong feminine effect. which is not something I would wear.

A delightful complement to warmer June temps, Kurkdijan's No. 7 Neroli reminds me of Seals and Crofts "Summer Breeze": blowing through the....orange blossom in my mind? Hmm, not quite as poetic, but now that I've set the tone I want to say that neroli is a challenging note for perfumers to extend, if you will; as in, extend into the heart and leave suggestions into the dry down. It can either be too fleeting or if extended poorly, too synthetic, almost bleach-like (horror). However, Kurkdijan struck just the right balance, to allow the natural energy of neroli run its course and to allow a white floral to flourish in the heart, and cedar to sustain the effect into the dry down. There is a certain creamy, velvety texture that gives a somewhat lux feel, deviating from the expectation that neroli is meant just for eau de colognes and transparent citrus aromatics. It lingers, and past the cedar, impressions of neroli-tinted musk remain for a surprisingly long time. Well done.

I love neroli and I regularly wear Hermes Neroli Dore, Muglar cologne, and Bottega Veneta Knot so I was excited to try this one. Sad to report this one falls a little flat for me. Its a high quality scent, only its rather light, thin and transparent. Maybe Im used to neroli that is blended with other notes, as Hermes Neroli has that saffron kick that takes it to another level. Essence No. 7 single neroli note just doesn't do enough for me, and at such a high price point, this should blow my socks off. Longevity and silage is on the weak side, but the dry down does has a nice creamy finish. Beautiful packaging and the bottle is heavy and nice, but Ill end up wearing this as a all over body spray. Not really interested in exploring the other Elie Saab Essence offerings after this experience either. Thumbs sideways on this one.

I keep coming back to sniff this one. The neroli is impressive, lasting until the drydown- a creamy neroli musk that's kind of sexy. I don't pick up on the clove as a distinct note, but its spiciness is helping to warm up the aquatic nature of neroli. For some reason, I get Chanel Sycomore vibes, but there's no vetiver listed. One spray projects for several hours and the magnetic cap is very satisfying. But I bet you can hear a "but" in my review, and here it is- the creamy vetiver vibe paired with neroli gives me a the dusty expensive feeling that I get from vintage, classy gentleman's fragrances like Guerlain Vetiver. I don't know if I can pull it off, but will wait until the hot weather to try again. This would smell amazing on the right person whose chemistry works well with masculine notes.

Where do I start? What an amazingly mesmerising fragrance! Francis Kurkdijan is perfumer behind it and he has created perfection in a bottle. It starts softly and stays soft, creating a fresh and clean bubble around me. The summer heat seems to dissipate and I feel that I'm lying down (on a bed of lush green grass) - somewhere in a garden in Italy. The clouds seems to be passing by and there is a gentle breeze in background - bringing along the aroma of flowers. It is one of those cute little gardens that you see in movies. The sun is hot but I don't feel the heat. I feel relaxed and calm. PERFECT for a hot summer day! Just.Perfect! Bring on Summer.

Sadly I never understood the perfumes created by Francis K. Like there is always a lack of definition. Perhaps the best quality of ingredients but they vanish through the process. Reminds me of math at school when I just wanted to pass the exam pending by a hair, I didn't really like what I was doing but I had to do it. Or like when you go to an exclusive restaurant and presentation lovely but the taste leaves you wondering. Never pleased.

Neroli and musk, growing softer in the drydown but fairly linear. And like others from this line, I can spray 4 or 5 times and not gas anyone out. Kinda shocked at the price people were willing to pay for this 4 years ago —$300-500 for 100 ml. Today for around $52 on Fragrancenet, it’s basically a no brainer full bottle choice.

woody, musky, herbal neroli. nothing like Portofino if you are trying to get away from tropicals. to my nose the opening was dated. Suffice it to say I don't get the hype unisex to masculine

The floral part comes across very feminine on my skin. Won't be using my full bottle because of that. Good fragrance though, but definitely very feminine leaning.

@CB23 The official price for this one is 208,50 euro at sephora.fr and the website always offer 20-30% off. A couple months ago it is 195euro.

Managed to get it a tester at 'just' $300 so I bought it, too hard to pass up
