Le Parfum Absolu

After recently falling back in love with the original Le Parfum and Lumière, I decided to add Absolu to my collection. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but I'm pleased to say it has its own distinct personality while still retaining the beautiful Elie Saab Le Parfum DNA. The opening is fresh and immediately recognisable as part of the Le Parfum family, but alongside that freshness I get a rich amber warmth and oriental spices. The floral signature of the original quietly runs throughout the fragrance, but it feels deeper, warmer and more suited to evening wear. As it develops, the spices soften and it becomes a beautiful amber floral. There is a slight sweetness, but it never feels gourmand or heavy. Instead, it feels elegant, golden and incredibly comforting. The drydown is my favourite part. On my skin it becomes a soft amber resin fragrance with an almost vanilla-like sweetness. It's warm, smooth and close to the skin, the sort of scent you keep wanting to smell on your wrist. Having worn the original, Lumière and Absolu side by side, I don't see Absolu as simply a stronger version of Le Parfum. To me, it feels like the evening counterpart. The original is floral and elegant, Lumière is radiant and sunlit, while Absolu feels rich, golden and softly glowing. A beautiful addition to the Le Parfum family and one that has surprised me in the best possible way.

This is very similar to my beloved Le Parfum Intense. Deep, sirupy, complex. Gives me an illusion of a honey note like in the Intense. But less patchouli, less sweet, and a bit more orange blossom. I think it's a gorgeous flanker. If you love the OG, you'll love this.

This stopped me in my tracks. Very unique and feminine with a sexy vibe on the low. I love this.

Pretty similar to Le Parfum Intense. Wonder why they did not just bring it back.

I liked it. On my skin the main notes reminded me of L'interdit perfume instantly. Then a bouquet of white flowers emerged, pretty, luminous and surrounded by a creamy sensation with a note of vanilla. On my skin such note was strong, I must say. The surprise was at the base notes. Once the perfume has settle it reveals a highly resinous, woody and sometimes a little bit bitter/bittersweet profile which was my favorite part of this olfactory experience. I recommend it. It opens with a spicy, intense white floral scent, especially jasmine and lily. It's not sweet, and the sillage and longevity are strong. I found it similar to Mugler Alien. But alien is more feminine

I have conflicted feelings about this one. The opening is absolutely gorgeous. You can smell rich sunny Mandarine orange, sweet citrus flowers and something oriental like olibanum. Then jasmine flowers and tuberose come forward and it all makes you feel as if you were on a vacation by the Mediterranean sea in late summer evening. A rich luxurious scent. I was so happy with this fragrance gently wafting around me as I was walking home on a cold evening while it was densely snowing. I thought: "This is the one!" However, then it unfolded into a heavy, sweet musky/honey-flower smell that is in my opinion only bearable outdoors in cold weather. It's simply too much for a use in interiors. Soon it's like being in enclosed space with piles of tuberose flowers or white lilies and there's some heavy "honey" suffocating sweetness to it. By honey I mean floral sweetness like the scent of cowslips in high concentration as opposed to faint wafts that I would appreciate much more. Olive tree notes and benzoin give it an interesting twist but otherwise it desperately lacks some freshness, some conifer or citrusy notes. If there was dominant Mediterranean pine or maybe cedar in the drydown, this would be a perfect perfume for me. Unfortunately, the suffocating sweetness and animalic musk that now and then comes forward spoils it for me. An interesting and powerful fragrance if I smell it directly on a paper strip but not something I want to have sprayed on my clothes and catch wafts of in its overly sweet amber/musky drydown all the time. It's not just my body chemistry, I perceive these wafts from the paper strip too. I guess some would call it a grandma perfume. My impression is this: A combination of heavy animalic musk/amber and being trapped in a room with thousands night flowers like white lilies, drowning in honey and sweet orange syrup gasping for a draft of fresh cool air that will never come. Both sillage and longevity are strong on paper and textiles, just not on my skin. I washed it off into a faint musky smell, surprisingly no longer sweet, and on another day it was gone completely. I could still smell it on my sweater even after washing though. Just as described, it is NOT linear! The first notes are different from what you get later. Don't let them fool you. I almost bought it on impulse but luckily I waited. The very last note on a strip that you can still smell after a month is pure sweet vanilla. I tried it twice in two different stores of the same perfumery chain and it seems to me that olive tree notes are stronger on the second strip so I understand why some people say it's not sweet but rather resinous, yet, to me, the base is still musky sweet. There's a lot in this EDP and all in great intensity.

First: Olive tree is listed in the base notes, so a wood note. Not the fruit 'olives' or 'black olives' as mentioned by several reviewers below. Tested this on an impulse. On skin as always. Not my usual scent profile, but got curious by sniffing the lovely bottle. The fragrance to me is mainly warm vanilla - nice and polite, but forgettable.

This is so good! I would say the OG Le Parfum and this are the best from Elie Saab. This is stronger than the OG. Has more character snd the scent is very addictive and interesting. Still it is similar but not the same. The OG is soft and elegant and this is still elegant, floral, but with a touch of ozziness and its much much stronger. I just renewed my 90ml of the OG and plan on getting this too. I would say this line is the best for women. I was searching for new perfume and all new releases are boring and too sweet (blueberry goddess or libres or born in roma scents) and this is just what a woman scent should be to me. I don't know how i feel about this. Is very diferent for a "Le parfum" flanker. This have the deep face of nuit noor, with a strong animalic flower of "In white". Like a son of both. Sometimes i catch royal Shades here. Olives? I can't find this in there, or i really lost this. I need more time with. 2 times isn't enough. This works great in winter/autumn nights, i'm in DEJAVU. HAHA BTW, I Love Lumière , essentiel , Royal and EDP more than all. 8/10 for me .

Sometimes Fragrantica freaks you out with its notes descriptions and images lol. Found a different description "An amber, woody, and floral fragrance with top notes of Italian Mandarin oil, Orange Blossom Accord, and Ylang Ylang oil, followed by middle notes of Olive Flower Accord, Jasmine Sambac Absolute, and Tuberose, and base notes of Olive Oil Wood, Patchouli, and Amber." No quatro pizza toppings here, fear not!

The first in the Le Parfum line not created by Kurkdjian. I had some worries, especially since the first reviews after debut weren't great. However, in my opinion, it lives up to the Elie standard. Like the rest of the line, this one is an ode to white flowers. Elegant, feminine, and sensual.

I too love the Le Parfum Intense but this...this looks different... Ylang and black olives? It has glorious orange blossom, jasmine, amber and patchouli...it might work, but would definitely need to try it first.

My favourite house is Elie saab and my favourite range in that house is the le parfum range, I dont know how I feel about the olives, however I cannot wait to get my nose on it and do a proper review.
